  • Problem sending email with Codeigniter - Headers sent in the message body

    Having a strange issue with the email class in codeigniter. When I send email directly to my gmail account email address, it works fine. However if I send email to a different email address and use POP3 to import that email address into gmail, then for some reason all the headers are included in the message.   • Why are changes to coffeescript files not being compiled when my Rails 3.2.0 app is in development mode?

    Normally, any changes I make to .js.coffee files in my Rails 3.2.0 app in development mode take effect when I refresh the page. All of a sudden, this is not happening. If I do rake assets:precompile, then the changes are shown, but then if I do rake assets:clean they go back to not being shown. What is causing this? Edit: Restarting the server makes the changes show. Why isn't this happening automatically as before?   • Can't send an email using a google apps account with PHPMailer

    I'm trying to simply send an email using my google apps account with php. I am able to send an email in a .net application using the port 587 host smtp.googlemail.com and SSL enabled.   • I want my logs sent to my mail with logrotate

    Not strictly a question about programming as such, more of a log handling question. Anyway. My company has multiple clients, and each of these clients have a set of logs that I'd rather much want to get sent to by e-mail to me. Now, another prerequisite is that they're hilighted by simple HTML. All that is very well, I've managed to make a hilighter for the given log types. So, what I do is I use logrotate's prerotate stuff to send the logs as an e-mail message. Example: /var/log/a.log /var/log/b.log { daily missingok copytruncate prerotate /usr/bin/python /home/foo/hilight_logs /var/log/{a,b}.log | /usr/sbin/sendmail -FLog\ mailer [email protected] [email protected] endscript } The problem with this approach is basically that logrotate sucks: it'll run the command for every log file specified in the specifier, and to my knowledge there's no way to know which of the log files is being handled. (Which wouldn't really help anyway.) Short of repeating the exact same logrotate up to 10 times on different machines, the only thing I can do is just to get bogged down with log spam every night. And I grew tired of it today, so I ask.

    I'm trying to extend the PHP mailer class from Worx by adding a method which allows me to add attachments using string data rather than path to the file. I came up with something like this: public function addAttachmentString($string, $name='', $encoding = 'base64', $type = 'application/octet-stream') { $path = 'php://memory/' . md5(microtime()); $file = fopen($path, 'w'); fwrite($file, $string); fclose($file); $this->AddAttachment($path, $name, $encoding, $type); } However, all I get is a PHP warning: PHP Warning: fopen() [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: Invalid php:// URL specified There aren't any decent examples with the original documentation, but I've found a couple around the internet (including one here on SO), and my usage appears correct according to them. Has anyone had any success with using this? My alternative is to create a temporary file and clean up - but that will mean having to write to disc, and this function will be used as part of a large batch process and I want to avoid slow disc operations (old server) where possible. This is only a short file but has different information for each person the script emails.

    Hello all, I am making use of PHPMailer to send mail through GMail. The code I use is straight from a tutorial and it works perfectly on my laptop. However, testing this on a Windows 2003 Server - it seems to always return an SMPT error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. Mailer Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.     I read all topics related to this question in stackoverflow and whole internet and cant find working sollution... Each owner has his item and when someone buy his item, owner gets an confirmation email, but when in cart is few same owner items, he gets several same email letters, so I need to remove dublicated array entries. I have tried to use DISTINCT and array_uniques functions but no luck. Any advices?     I am creating a small company, and would like to send out emails to my clients once they have signed up for my service to activate their accounts. I am currently using PHP's mail() function, however I am worried that my emails are being filtered out by spam filters.   • Sending text messages from Raspberry Pi via email fails

    I'm using mailx on my raspberry pi to try to send text messages updates for event monitoring. My phone number: 9876543210 My phone's email-to-text gateway address: [email protected] I can 1) Send emails from my raspberry pi to various email addresses. mail -r [email protected] -s "My Subject" [email protected] < body.txt and off it goes and is successfully delivered. 2) Send emails from various email address (not on RPi) using mailx to the above phone-email address and have them delivered as text messages. However, when sending emails to [email protected] from the Raspberry Pi using mailx the emails seem to spiral into the void and are never heard of again (no errors, no undeliverable messages, nothing). Does anyone know what could be causing this to go awry? Something about the basic deployment of the mail server on the pi? EDIT Based on @kobaltz's suggestion, I used sendmail instead. This led to a hang, then an error that stated that I lacked a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). I then used this website's instructions to add a domain name to the RPi. To paraphrase: I have set the FQDN in /etc/hostname: my-host-name.my-domain.com and /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.0.5 my-host-name.my-domain.com my-host-name Then add to /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: MASQUERADE_AS(`my-domain.com') MASQUERADE_DOMAIN(`my-host-name.my-domain.com') FEATURE(`masquerade_entire_domain') FEATURE(`masquerade_envelope') I put this in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf, BEFORE the MAILER() lines, ran sendmailconfig, answered Yes to the questions about using the existing files, and restarted sendmail.     I'm trying to set up my sendmail to authenticate against a relay (comcast). I'm not seeing any attempts to authenticate at all. I'm trying to just debug how authentication works, and can't connect all the pieces... There are two things I don't understand. When AuthInfo records are searched for, they are matched by the target hostname. How? Does it it use the map key (something I would expect), or uses the so-called "Domain" ("R:" parameter that I don't set in my auth-info line) What is "U:", really? Sendmail README (http://www.sendmail.org/m4/smtp_auth.html) says it's "user(authoraztion id)", and "I:" is "authentication ID". That suggests that my username should be in "U:", actually, but http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/auth.html says that "I:" is your remote user name.   • Why are emails sent from my applications being marked as spam?

    Hi. I have 2 web apps running on the same server. The first is www.nimikri.com and the other is www.hourjar.com. Both apps share the same IP address (75.127.100.175). My server is through a shared hosting company. I've been testing my apps, and at first all my emails were being delivered to me just fine. Then a few days ago every email from both apps got dumped into my spam box (in gmail and google apps). So far the apps have just been sending emails to me and nobody else, so I know people aren't manually flagging them as spam. I did a reverse DNS lookup for my IP and the results I got were these: 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS2.GNAX.NET. 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS1.GNAX.NET. Should the reverse DNS lookup point to nimikri.com and hourjar.com, or are they set up fine the way they are?     I'm developing on my ubuntu 9.10 machine for the web (php). I'm using it sendmail for sending mails, and while developing on my local machine, I send local mails (to my user 'doron'). Up until a few days ago, I was able to send mails both from php's mail() function, and from the command line using the mail command. I'm using sendmail with mailutils. Since the last few days, it seems like it stopped working.     Hi Folks, Basically I have my domain howcode.com bought at DomainMonster.com. I have set it all up to point to MediaTemple nameservers and everything works - mostly - fine. I have registered an email address [email protected]. The setup is, I presume, working correctly. I can successfully send emails with the account. And I presume I can receive them - but the problem is, nobody can send them to me. Emailing from a regular, non-Googlemail account appears to work fine but it never arrives in the inbox. But when you email from a GoogleMail address, an error message is instantly returned saying this: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: [email protected] Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error.     I'm running MailEnable on my server, and have been for many years. Recently we had an attack on our server, and I was able to close the hole. Since then, our mail server doesn't seem to be sending mail out. If I send an email from myself to another account hosted on the server, the email arrives as expected. If I send an email from my gmail account to my business account, the email also arrives as expected The problem comes when I send from my business account to an external domain I tried the following Gmail.com Hotmail.com Shaw.ca When I send to any of the above The message leaves my client as expected, The logs appear to accept and forward on the message The SMTP outbound que is empty The message never arrives I have checked our domain with mxtoolbox.com senderbase.org And neither of them are reporting any problems with our domain.   • How to get rid of messages addressed to not existing subdomains?

    Hi! I have small problem with my sendmail server and need your little help :-) My situation is as follow: User mailboxes are placed on MS exchanege server and all mail to and from outside world are relayed trough my sendmail box. Exchange server ----- sendmail server ------ Internet My servers accept messages for one main domain (say, my.domain.com) and for few other domains (let we narrow it too just one, say my_other.domain.com). After configuring sendmail with showed bellow abbreviated sendmail.mc file, essentially everything works ok, but there is small problem. I want to reject messages addressed to not existing recipients as soon as possible (to avoid sending non delivery reports), so my sendmail server make LDAP queries to exchange server, validating every recipient address. This works well both domains but not for subdomains. Such subdomains do not exist, but someone (I'm mean those heated spamers :-) could try addresses like this: user@any_host.my.domain.com or user@any_host.my_other.domain.com and for those addresses results are as follows: Messages to user@sendmail_hostname.my.domain.com are rejected with error "Unknown user" (due to additional LDAPROUTE_DOMAIN line in my sendmail.mc file, and this is expected behaviour) Messages to user@any_other_hostname.my.domain.com are rejected with error "Relaying denied". Little strange to me, why this time the error is different, but still ok. After all message was rejected and I don't care very much what error code will be returned to sender (spamer). Messages to user@sendmail_hostname.my_other.domain.com and user@any_other_hostname.my_other.domain.com are rejected with error "Unknown user" but only when, there is no user@my_other.domain.com mailbox (on exchange server). If such mailbox exist, then all three addresses (i.e. user@my_other.domain.com, user@sendmail_hostname.my_other.domain.com and user@any_other_hostname.my_other.domain.com) will be accepted. (adding additional line LDAPROUTE_DOMAIN(my_sendmail_host.my_other.domain.com) to my sendmail.mc file don't change anything) My abbreviated sendmail.mc file is as follows (sendmail 8.14.3-5).   • Allow email from a particular sender through spam filter

    We are running exchange 2010 and are using the built in anti-spam feature. We have set up Content Filtering, IP Block List Providers, Sender ID, Sender Reputation and it filters out most of the junk but it also quarantines all emails from one of our customers. It is being quarantined because of the Content Filter agent (Report Below). How can I add an exception for this email address to the Content Filter. I can see how to setup an exception for a delivery address ("Don't filter messages sent TO the following recipients") but I want to add [email protected] to our safe list. I don't want to add the whole domain as it is a very popular ISP in Australia and we often get junk from them.
