  • HP Pavilion DV6 doesn't recognize wireless networks

    Okay so about a few weeks after I got my laptop the wifi would connect and disconnect, off and on. And every time I troubleshoot it, a message comes up saying there's a network cable not properly plugged in or broken... It's been doing this for about a year and I usually just tap the bottom of the laptop or something and the wifi connects again but now it refuses to turn back on, how do I fix this?

    Hi all, I have dual OS ( Fedora and windows xp ). for the past two months when i use windows xp, i'm frequently getting a blue screen with msg : " bug code usb driver ".Not knowing what to do next , i switch off the system and reboot it.     After hitting F8 before startup and selecting "enable boot logging", I let windows try to start up and blue screen / restart (which I'm currently trying to troubleshoot) - I run the 'repair' function, open a command prompt, and try to find the boot log file, which I expected to be at %SystemRoot%\ntbtlog.txt - but it's not. Where is it? PS - probably makes no difference, but this is windows 7 ultimate 64bit to be precise.

  • How can I easily test connectivity to external sources with WinHTTP?

    I've got an server application that uses Winhttp to fetch information from an external source. Occasionally, I'll need to troubleshoot connectivity issues and I'd like an easy way to test connections through winHTTP (on the off-chance that there's something that is specifically impeding winHTTP and not other unrelated connectivity commands like telnet). Does IE use WinHTTP? If not, are there any tools (preferably already integrated into Windows) that I can use? Occasionally I'll use IE but I'm not sure if that's quite the same.

    Using Ubuntu's USB Startup Disk Creator (usb-creator-gtk), I created a LiveUSB from the Xubuntu 9.10 LiveCD. When booting, it stalls up with the Xubuntu mouse splash screen displayed. In attempting to troubleshoot, I used Ctrl-Alt-F1 to check out the first virtual terminal. On that screen, I see over and over again the lines: stdin: I/O error stdin: error 0 /init: line 1: can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found

    I want to test the memory of my video card because lastly there are vertical lines on my screen. I do some basic troubleshoot and it seems that the problem is in video card. Therefore, I want to validate the error at the video card by using a video card memory test program. I find one that is used for nvidia card with CUDA support, but my card is Nvidia GeForce 7600 without CUDA support.

  • My system show extremely hot processor temperature

    I've build a small miniITX system with Pentium 4 processor. It works fine but there's extremely hot temperature is shown by the CPU sensor, around 120 C. Of course this is causing the fan run extremely fast as well making the whole system very loud. I tried to touch the CPU radiator but it is very cool so this should be some kind of error. Could you please give me an advice on how to troubleshoot this?

    After checking out a project from SVN, I am getting the following prompt in eclipse any time I try to change anything in the code: The compilation unit is not in the build path of the project There is no Java build path option when I right click on the project. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or fix the issue will be greatly appreciated. Note: I tried changing the project file manually but now my project files are being displayed in separate directories inside the trunk.

  • Slow ASP.NET site using IIS6

    Hi, I have two servers, one virtual and one physical, running the exact same site on both machines. Both machines are running on ~ 2% CPU load and very much RAM available for usage. Somehow the site, with cache turned off ofcourse, loads in ~ 500ms on the virtual machine (which is a dev-server by the way) but almost 3 full seconds on the physical machine. They're both running Server 2003, IIS6 aswell as asp.net version 2.0 Any ideas where I can start troubleshoot this? Best Regards LP

    I googled this and tried some solutions, but nothing seems to work. In the past, Hibernate worked fine. Someone told me that this can be caused by specific hardware, and I have lots of that, because this is a dev machine which we use to develop modules that interact with lots of different hardware.     Hello folks, I have reinstalled in my Windows XP machine. After it is re-isntalled the audio in my machine has failed. I have installed all the device drivers in my mother board. The Realtek Sound driver is also installed.
