• Fonts and encoding in windows live mail.

  Sometimes I have non-english emails (arabic for example). When I try to open them with windows live mail, it doesn't show them correctly.. for example such this: &1588;&1603;&1585;&1575; &1610;&1575;&1605;&1575;&1606; (I changed it a bit to show here as I want) I had a look at options, there was encoding on arabic(windows) but I didn't find anything else. When I open this mail on yahoo however, there is no problem. What can I do?

• Super simple high performance http server

  I´m building a url shortener web application and I would like to know the best architecture to do it in order to provide a fast and reliable service. I would like to have two separate servicies in different machines. The first machine will have the application itself with a apache, nginx, whatever.. The second one will contain the database. The third one will be the one that will be responsible to handle the short url petitions. For the third machine I just need to accept one kind of http petition (GET www.domain.com/shorturl), but it have to do it really fast and it should be stable enough. Which server do you recommend me? • A dot between two numbers is converted to comma

  For example when i want to write 1.1 in MS Word, the . is suddenly converted to ',' when i write the second 1. Here is a illustration of what happens: Notes: I am typing in Arabic and i want the numbers Arabic. When I am typing in English it is fined and everything is better than expected: The . remains . I tried to reset Word settings based on the all the ways that MSDN suggests. Now all the styles and options are set to default and all add-ons are removed. I also tried to reset my Regional and Languages settings to a Standard one. I have also changed all the , separators to . How can i stop the Word from changing my dots to commas? (It only happens when dot is between two digits)

• Looking for simple windows scan (multiple pages) to one pdf application?

  I would like to find some simple scan software for a windows machine that can scan to pdf, but I would like it to do batch or multiple pages into one big pdf. I saw a couple questions on scan to pdf software, but did not see anything talking about scanning to large multiple page pdf's. EDIT: I am surprised there are not more options out there. Do many of the scanners/all in one devices come with included software that perform this function? EDIT 2: I tried Scan2PDF and it locked up on me multiple times in the middle of the scan job and then gave me non-english error messages. Otherwise, I liked how simple the app was, just select number of pages and hit ok. Any other success stories out there?

There is also installed Microsoft Office 2007 greek and Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 greek. When the user tries to write intonated letters such as "?, ?" in office or the IE, instead of the correct letter the result is: ``a and not ? Do you need any other information on the system or what are the suggestions to search for the cause of this problem?

  Hello everyone. I'm trying to convert Flac audio file to AAC file using command line. So I wrote this ffmpeg -i input.flac temp.wav faac -q 120 -o output.m4a temp.wav It's working fine. Now I want to do the same using fifo, so I'm writing this mkfifo temp.wav ffmpeg -i input.flac temp.wav & faac -q 120 -o output.m4a temp.wav And it's freezing. • How to know if it's phishing or not in android apps?

  In IM apps (not only), there is a browser frame that appears and prompts for example to connect to facebook account, ebuddy for example (can't post pictures :( ) http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2013/06/26//130626121230193046.jpg My question is: how can I know if this frame is from facebook.com and not a phishing website. I know that the apps in the play store are legit (mostly at least), but how can we trust apps that we install from outside the store? Or is there any way to check the credentials form action? • How do I allow a (local) user to start/stop services with a scheduled task?

  Hi, on a Windows 2008 R2 server I have two small .cmd-scripts to start/stop a certain service. They look like this net start MyService and net stop MyService I want to execute these script via scheduled task, and I thought it would be best to create a local user for this job. The user is not member of the Administrators group. But the scripts fail with exit code 2. When I logon with this local user and try to execute these script in command line, I see a message like (maybe not exactly translated from german to english): Error code 5: Access denied It doesn't matter whether I start the command line as Administrator or not. How can this local user gain rights to do the job?

• Safari 7 SSL error if using IP-adress

  I have created my own CA for internal usage and set the root certificate to trustworthy on my machines. With this CA I signed the SSL-certificates for my internal servers. I only address them with their IP and so I used the servers' IP as certificate name. If i connect to the Servers with Chrome or mobile Safari it works without problems, but if I use Safari 7 under Mavericks (on the same machine with the same keychain) i get the following error: "The certificate is not valid (host name mismatch)". I double checked that I entered the correct IP ("https://192.168.2.130"), but I always get the same error. Do I need to enter a different name for the certificate or is it just that Safari doesn't support SSL certificates for IPs?   motherboard gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G, pentium 4 630 3,0 ghz dont run at default speed ; fsb 800, cpu host 200, cpu 3000 mhz but run some time at fsb 533 cpu host 133 cpu 2025 mhz some time at fsb 75 and cpu 1128 mhz only. when i set in easy tune default parametrs pc dont work. some time i clear cmos and i can set in bios default parametrs, some time clearing cmos dont help, bios i update. how i can fix this problem? sorry about my bad english.

• Computer hanged in the middle of bios flashing process

  I have a laptop: Toshiba Satellite c660-17j, today I decided to update BIOS. I've downloaded bios updater from manufacturer's web site, and in the middle of flashing process computer hanged. I was waiting more than 30 minutes, but nothing was changed on the screen, i've tryed to PRESS MORE BUTTONS, but there were no reactions, so i've turned it off by removing battery (all other methods failed, even pressing power button for ~10 secs). After that computer can't start. I understand, that there's MESS in BIOS chip, and it's possible to re-flash it with hardware programmer, but I don't have it. I remember, that on some PCs (even on my eeepc) there was possibility to re-flash bios by inserting usb flash-disk (with .dat file on it, which contained BIOS), and power on PC, while holding some keys combination, then PC was switching to BIOS programming mode and re-flashed BIOS, after that it was possible to boot up normaly. Is there a way to recover computer without hardware programming BIOS chip? p.s. sorry for my english.

• Creating a command that compress a file and save it on a usb, but cannot detect the usb in linux.

  First of all I can't detect the USB on linux using the command line. I check the directory dev and still cannot find the usb. used the df command to check the usb. I plug and typed df and then unplug and typed df again and nothing changed. We are using a server(telnet) to use the command line of linux on a windows 7 OS. The second problem I have is how can I execute the bash script that I have made. It seems that I cant put my .sh file in /usr/bin/ I would like to make my command executable in all directories like a normal command. Sorry, im still newbie at this things. This is what I get on staying on Windows too much. Sorry for my english. Thank you in advance.

  I am currently working on a client project where they are using a custom CMS which relies on having the specific domains configured for it to work properly. So in English, that means that when I try running the site on my test environment, the entire website fails because it isn't located on the primary domain (and I'm pretty sure the domain is hard coded since there's no control panel to adjust the file locations). Anyway what I wanted to ask is whether it is possible to use my test environment URL but have Apache and the DNS emulate my clients website URL locally, rather than calling the actual name servers. Right now I have a virtual host setup in Apache but I am not sure where to go from there. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

• Disable CTRL + ALT + [LETTER] to produce accented variations

  After an unknown config change, CTRL + ALT + [LETTER] has started producing common accented versions of [LETTER]. I'm not a big fan of this arrangement, seeing as I've memorized all my favourite ALT + [NUMPAD SEQUENCE] references and was used to using CTRL + ALT + [LETTER] for various other application-specific commands in my text editor. The prominent result from my searching suggests that this has something to do with a switch to an 'international keyboard', and says this can be removed in the control panel or toggled by hitting ALT + SHIFT, but I can't get my system to confirm this, and the solutions (or close approximations thereof) don't work. Specifically, I've been to Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language\Advanced settings and switched the override for default input method from 'language list' to English and I've been to Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language\Language options and made sure that I only have my one input method (UK). Other than that I'm not quite sure where to look. Any ideas?

• Nvidia 8600 GT drivers Will not run setup

  I am attempting to upgrade my video card drivers with my nvidia 8600 gt. I downloaded the drivers from NVIDIA and when I run the setup, nothing happens. It does appear in the Processes, but never does anything. I've tried restarting, tried killing the process and re-running, I am an admin account... nothing works. What is wrong? [EDIT] The installer does run, it extracts the setup files to C:\NVIDIA as normal then when it tries to run that setup to do the actual install, nothing happens (the process does show up in Task Manager and just sits there). Attempting to run the installer manually via C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\296.10\WinXP\English\Setup.exe has the process open, but nothing happens. This machine is WinXP 32bit.

  I've recently moved to the Czech Republic from Scotland and I can't find a way to permanently stop Google from automatically defaulting back to google.cz all the time. I've checked to ensure that all my google accounts and cookie based settings (e.g. Advanced Search Options) are set to English but it's still clearly doing an IP address lookup and disregarding everything else. The default Search Engine for Google Chrome (and switches to google.cz automatically): {google:baseURL}search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s I've tried hardcoding it to: http://www.google.com/search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s this kind of works, but won't work for inline searching, i.e. I always have to press enter in order to get any results which is a bit annoying as I've gotten so used to AJAX style searching I can't have been the only one to get this issue? Any help is appreciated

• How to restore pre-windows-8 Alt+Shift keyboard behavior?

  Before Windows 8, the Alt+Shift shortcut changed the input method (keyboard layout) for the current app. This permitted to map an input method to each app. For example I could keep the default layout for my apps where I write in english and switch to a french layout in apps where I write in french. This was working great: each app had his keyboard layout. Now with Windows 8 the Alt+Shift key has a global behavior for all applications. This meens I have to change my input method almost each time I change from app to app. Is there a way to restore the pre-Windows-8 behavior? Or is there another shortcut?

Here's the resulting count of what it thought the files were: 1 ASCII Java program text, with very long lines 1 a /bin/env python script text executable 1 a python script text executable 2 ASCII C++ program text 4 ASCII English text 18 ASCII Java program text That's strange!   I have a HP C4400 printer and it claims to be out of paper (which is not true) and don't even try to pull the paper. • Persian font in Netbeans cause speed reduction

  I have speed problem in Netbeans 7.0 IDE when my current open document has any Persian font inside it. If it happens, the speed of software incredibly reduce.( for example if I hit backspace, it takes about 10 seconds to respond). The amazing part is when I open a fully english document in Netbeans there is no problem and everything works well. I'm running netbeans 7.0 on Mac OS X 10.7.2. This problem happens with every fonts( even with fully Persian fonts). But I really want to have Persian with default Monospaced font. Thanks in advance.

  Hello everybody, greetings from Mexico, sorry about my english but here it goes: I recently bought and apple tv 2nd generation it works just fine, i can see you tube videos but i cant see my library. My pc is conected to the same wi-fi than my apple tv. I have the latest software. I have my firewall off. I turned off and on my router. Search for iphone, ipad remotes on, sharing my library on my local network on, in itunes. Ive checked that my id was the same. On top of that the Remote app doesnt seem to work either. Please help, im kinda loosing my mind over this
