  Scenario I have PowerPoint 2010 On the "Transitions" tab the "Advance Slide On Mouse Click" check box is checked. I have a long, slow, timed, non-repeating animation working in the background of the slide. I click to advance the slide before the animation is finished, but ... Instead of advancing the slide, the animation moves to the completed state ... Forcing a second click to actually advance the slide. Additionally If I have other animations on the slide that are initiated by a click, the long animation also advances to a finished state before starting the new animation. Desired Behavior On click, I want the slide to advance or the next on-click animation to start whether the long animation is done or not, and without having that long animation first "complete" itself. In the case of another animation, I simply want the long animation to continue, while also doing the new animation. Ultimate Question Is there a way to either: Set an option somewhere to not have that animation complete on click and simply "continue" to animate with the start of a new animation or to advance the slide (as the case may be)? Create a VBA script that will produce the desired behavior for the long animation?

• Can't install Visual Studio 2010 SP1 from an .ISO file I downloaded. Error inside

  This is the error: [Window Title] C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe [Content] The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. [OK] I'm running Windows 7 (64bit) Ultimate and have installed this service pack before (2 days ago) on another machine with similar specs and the same exact OS software. I've tried mounting the .ISO file to a virtual drive and installing from there and I get that error. I've tried mounting the .ISO and copy pasting the files to a local folder on my drive and then running the setup.exe application, and I get that error. I don't know how to proceed but can provide any additional information you require from me. What can I do to fix this? Edit If I right click Setup.exe and Run As Administrator, I get the following error: [Window Title] C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe [Content] Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. [OK] I've already tried re downloading the ISO from the site, but a quick check of the bytes of the file assures me that the ISO on my drive is 100% correctly downloaded. I get the same amount of bytes in size from the downloading ISO (as Opera reports).

• Why is my own e-mail address not listed in the To field?

  I have received a suspicious e-mail. I am not affiliated with the company mentioned in the e-mail body, or the signer. However, I have been using the app they mention in the e-mail. They are inviting me to a Beta test. But the e-mail is not by the original author of the app. But I'm thinking they might have hired an external company to do this version of the app. There is a link to a TestFlight page. So I'm not sure what to make of this. Now this is what mainly arose my attention. The "To" field is addressed to "Bon Support" and when I double-click on that I see [email protected]. I can assure you that none of these are my e-mail addresses. So where the heck is my own e-mail address? How could I have received this if it was addressed to someone else? If not spammers and skimmers and other criminals, who else is using this practice and why? And how can I tell now to what e-mail account I received this? I have more than one account set up in Outlook.

• How can I debug solutions in Visual Studio 2010 from a network share?

  I've recently got a new Mac laptop and am running VS2010 in a Parallels virtual machine. It's mostly working out well for me, but I'm having some problems with debugging specific project types, related to the fact that the projects are being accessed via a network share. Test projects don't run because the test runner can't load the tests' DLL. Web projects fail to run in the Visual Studio mini web server, throwing the following exception: 'An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to path\to\web.config'. I've spent the evening trawling the web with little luck on this. After reading these two posts, I tried out the usual CasPol changes, but then found this post from one of the early VS2010 betas indicating that CasPol is no longer needed/supported in .NET 4.0 and VS2010. The network share is accessible via both a mapped drive and the UNC path. The virtual machine runs its applications under the administrator account, which appears to have all the necessary permissions on the network share to create, read, write and delete files and folders. I say "appears to have" as I can't view the Security Properties of the appropriate folder via Explorer: the Security tab just isn't present. Has anyone managed to successfully load and debug web and test projects from a network share in VS2010?

• Why does my font in the OneNote 2010 beta keep changing back to a non-default?

  In OneNote options I've set a particular default font. Then I selected all text in a particular notebook section and change it to the new font. However, whenever I insert a new line in that existing body of text, it reverts to a font that isn't my default. Almost as if the incorrect "style" information is somehow embedded in the existing text, even though the text itself is the correct font. How can I resolve this?

One NIC has connected port which is "mirror port" of our WAN redirected on switch so it sees all the network traffic flying by. The other NIC is internet access. This server is located inside our lan network. What topology should i choose and which options I should look at to be able to see which traffic is used (SMTP, WWW etc) and who does what? We had cases of infected machines with spam and we want to be able to see that some machine is sending large amounts of mails. Is that possible ?

• Too many concurrent connections Exchange 2010. What else is there to check?

  I thought that I had this under control before. But for some reason during our last email marketing promo, I start receiving from our mass email client (built in house).. The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code is 0x800ccc67. The server repsonse was 421 4.3.2 The maximum number of concurrent connections has exceeded a limit, closing transmission channel again. There's several places I've checked to make sure that wouldn't be an issue. First I checked that receive connector was set to receive an adequate number of connections on our relay connector (1000 connections). Then, I would later find out about Throttling Policies. I created one and set all the properties I knew to set in terms of the policy following properties to 1000; EWSMaxConcurrency, OWAMaxConcurrency, CPAMaxConcurrency, and CPAMaxConcurrency. Still, the email client starts receiving the error shortly after 100 has been sent and takes about 15-30 seconds. The process is then repeatable, but still the error gets received at the same spot everytime. Is there a rate setting that I am missing? Was there a windows update that I missed looking at? Should the software have it's own throttling feature?

  We have an e-mail account for support purposes which is tended to by multiple members of the team. When answering a support e-mail we obviously choose the support account as sender. Still, the answer is not stored in the support account's Sent Items folder, but in the Sent Items of the person actually answering. This behavior, which seems to be by design, prevents others from gaining access to the entire conversation and potentially causes multiple answers. I am looking for an automated way of moving e-mails sent on behalf of someone else to that person's Sent Items folder. I tried to create a rule for this but could not find the right setting.

• MS Excel 2010 - Using DSN + 32 bit drivers

  I need some advice as im running into a problem and so far i have been unable to find a solution. We have a set of reports developed in MS Excel that use DSN file to connect to data sources to retrieve data, these work fine on 32 / 64bit systems, however we are moving to a terminal server environment using windows 2008 R2 64Bit. The reports fail to run using the DSN's within this environment if we only have the 32bit drivers installed and configured in the ODBC settings, the minute we install the 64Bit drivers the software works. Is there a way / Method of getting Excel or the DSN file to NOT use the 64Bit driver, but force it to use the 32bit driver. ANSWERED - But due to low user score i cannot "answer" my own question... Sadly there is no way to-do what i want to-do, without a lot of very nasty and not 100% perfect reg hacks.   Often when I have many co-authors on a MS Word document I find that some of them don't use the styles I've defined for the document, but have achieved similar formatting manually. This results in many styles listed as "in use", each with perhaps only a handful of instances. Word will highlight these instances for me, but then find myself browsing the entire document to check whether they need correcting or are special cases. This can be a particular pain for a long document and when these style fragments occur in the white space between words or paragraphs. Is there a way to cycle through the highlighted instances of a particular style rather than having to hunt for them visually?

• VBA Solution to VLOOKUP with Hyperlinks

  I am looking for some help with a VBA solution for preserving hyperlinks when using VLOOKUP on Excel (2010). I have a load of data on Sheet 1 for internal use only, and a cut-down version of this on Sheet 2. Instead of recreating Sheet 2 everytime, I am looking to have a working version which updates everytime Sheet1 is updated. Thus, I have used VLOOKUP on Sheet 2 so that only the desired info is returned on sheet 2. However, the problem was that sheet 1 contained in many cells Hyperlinks to external websites, and this would not pull through to Sheet2 using VLOOKUP.   I am having issues with some files in automated processes, specifically with batch files and sql files. Visual Studio seems to create these as UTF-8 rather than ansi and adds some kind of special characters to the beginning of the file (I think this is a called a pre-amble) This breaks running batch files and running swl files through osql.exe. I have had issues myself in the past in creating text files using C#, but can get around that through encoding. However its seems a bit strange I cant use Visual studio to create batch files and sql files in a database project for automation.

• How do I make a PPT file as small as possible?

  Currently I am agonizing over several large presentation files, which I happened to reprint to PDFs... One thing I wondered: Do PPT's (from Microsoft Powerpoint) always to have to be that big? And what would be the strategies to make a PPT smaller? (If we say "ceterus paribus" at e.g. 25 slides and assuming that one isn't allowed to use a cloud-based service like GDocs, rocketslide or Prezio.) Of course there are the obvious "bad guys": Images and graphics. But: How about roll-over animations etc, who knows how much space they take? How about "smart arts"? Could one save file size if one would use "Open Office" or "Libre Office" Impress? (I didn't try it yet.) And "what if": What if we need to include e.g. five images (or charts that can't be remade in Excel in time), how would we best reduce the file size impact of those five images, if we needed to? I ask all this from an honest "business" perspective. I am no nerd or "Microsoft MVP" and I don't intend on delving into LATeX or similar yet. But that doesn't mean that I am not curious and very willing to learn. I am basically interested in (proven) best practices. Yes I know this question is lacking "initial research", but I think the perspective of my question is interesting and unique to a lot of people and if we intend to make SE a "Q&A" / Wiki kind-of reference site, this question might be a good way to "collect" advice on a question that has a very defined goal: Minimum file-size.

• Microsoft word 2003 when I am making deletions or changes they show up on the document in a balloon

  I am writing a novel in microsoft word 2003, and I am pretty far into it, but one time I hit a one of the F keys (I don't know which one) by accident. Now everytime I go on word I have these stupid balloons with writing in them and all my deletions and everything are highlighted shown. I looked up on google how to stop this and I did as it says, and it worked the balloon with the deletions and all the changes dissapeared, but next time I opened up the document they were back, and they always keep coming back, so when I send my document to anyone it shows them all my deletions and changes I made to the document. Can anyone help please. Thanks

  In Excel I understand there is no mechanism to customise & re-label the Rows & Columns (i.e. Renaming Col. A to some text like "Item Number" and so on. My question is regarding if it's possible to start Row Numbering at zero, or to determine a pre-allocated number of rows which contain my Headers, and then the first Row with the detail is infact seen as Row 1? Reason for question is I work multiple INternational Projects and we use Excel to trsack alot of activities & issues. Oddly, many people will refer to, for example "Point 7"... Some people mean the ID 7 (which I have the first Column dedicated to ID Number), some mean Excel Row 7, which infact could be really ID 3, or 4 from Col. A.... Any easy way or workaround to just use the Excel Row Numbers but select from when Row 1 is counted?

• how do I list Distribution Group (List) and their members inside of an OU using AD or exchange 2010

  our entire domain has thousands of distribution groups, while i can use the script referenced here: How to get a list of all Distribution Lists and their Members in Exchange 2007? to pull all distribution groups and their members, it would be too hard to filter through all results. I particularilly need to pull either a. (preferred) all groups (both distribution and security) and their members inside of an OU (this particular OU contains over 100 hundred groups) or b. all groups and members matching a name starting with exampl* dsquery | dsget looks like could almost serve that purpose however when i did: dsquery group "OU=my-department,DC=blah,DC=blahblah,DC=com" -name * | dsget group -members (-expand) c:\my-department.txt it displays only the members without showing which group they belong to. The output I need should have: group name, members and potentially expanded sub-groups. i am still researching on how to get this done, seems like i can somehow make the above referenced script to search only inside of an OU, but i am not very familiar with powershell. any help would be appreciated, thank you.
