  • Using a nested group by statement or sub query to filter this result sets

    - by vivid-colours
This question is a continuation of Changing this query to group rows and filter out all rows apart from the one with smallest value but with an extra bit at the end.... I have the following results set: 275 72.87368055555555555555555555555555555556 foo 70 275 72.87390046296296296296296296296296296296 foo 90 113 77.06431712962962962962962962962962962963 foo 80 113 77.07185185185185185185185185185185185185 foo 60 that I got from this query: SELECT id, (tbl2.date_modified - tbl1.date_submitted)/86400, some_value FROM tbl1, tbl2, tbl3 WHERE tbl1.id = tbl2.fid AND tbl1.id = tbl3.fid Notice there are 4 rows with 2 ids. I wanted to filter the rows to get only the minimum number in the second column. This fixed it: SELECT id, min((tbl2.date_modified - tbl1.date_submitted)/86400), max(some_value) FROM tbl1, tbl2, tbl3 WHERE tbl1.id = tbl2.fid AND tbl1.id = tbl3.fid GROUP BY tbl1.id so I got: 275 72.87368055555555555555555555555555555556 foo 70 113 77.06431712962962962962962962962962962963 foo 80 How can I change it to do the same but not include rows where the are other rows with some_value=90 ? I.e. 113 77.06431712962962962962962962962962962963 foo 80 I think I need some nested group or nested query ?! Many thanks :).

  • What is the difference between these task definition syntaxes in gradle?

    - by bergyman
    A) task build << { description = "Build task." ant.echo('build') } B) task build { description = "Build task." ant.echo('build') } I notice that with type B, the code within the task seems to be executed when typing gradle -t - ant echoes out 'build' even when just listing all the various available tasks. The description is also actually displayed with type B. However, with type A no code is executed when listing out the available tasks, and the description is not displayed when executing gradle -t. The docs don't seem to go into the difference between these two syntaxes (that I've found), only that you can define a task either way.

  • Why doesn't Request.IsAjaxRequest() work in ASP.NET MVC 3?

    - by Rob Ellis
I'm creating a new project, asp.net mvc3 with Razor, and wanting to turn the LogOn into an ajax request. HTML @using (Ajax.BeginForm("LogOn", "Account", new AjaxOptions { HttpMethod="post", OnSuccess="LoginSubmitted"})) { } Controller if (Request.IsAjaxRequest()) { return Json(new { ResultMessage = "Username or password provided is incorrect"}); } else { ModelState.AddModelError("", "The user name or password provided is incorrect."); } Everything else remains the same. First, looking at the the http response with Fiddler, I notice there is no x-requested-with header. So I add <input type="hidden" name="X-Requested-With" value="XMLHttpRequest" /> That seems to work, but now what I receive back is a Json object, which isn't being parsed and instead Google Chrome is just rendering the Json to screen. Whats happening?

  • Scroll to a text position in Javascript

    - by Andy
I have a real-time HTML editor, with a textarea on the left for code entry, and a 'preview' DIV on the right to contain the preview of the code entered. At the moment, when editing the code in the left pane, the preview just sits where it is, so often the part of the code you're editing is not in the visible area of the preview (especially when images are involved). My question is how do I make the preview scroll to show the part of the code that's currently being edited? Here is the page I have so far: http://www.caerphoto.com/rtedit.html You'll notice in the source I have a (currently unused) matchPreview() function that tries to match the scroll position of the preview based on the scroll position of the textarea, but obviously if images or large text are involved the two panes no longer match.

  • Determine calling executable in Python

    - by Brian Rosner
I am trying to find the best way of re-invoking a Python script within itself. Currently it is working like http://github.com/benoitc/gunicorn/blob/master/gunicorn/arbiter.py#L285. The START_CTX is created at http://github.com/benoitc/gunicorn/blob/master/gunicorn/arbiter.py#L82-86. The code is relying on sys.argv[0] as the "caller". However, this fails in cases where it is invoked with: python script.py ... This case does work: python ./script.py ... because the code uses os.chdir before running os.execlp. I did notice os.environ["_"], but I am not sure how reliable that would be. Another possible case is to check if sys.argv[0] is not on PATH and is not executable and use sys.executable when calling os.execlp. Any thoughts on a better approach solving this issue?

  • deprecated readLine() What to change?

    - by user1681751
    I'm trying to get this to work in the eclipse, but the "readLine" is striked through and a notice says it is depreciated, the code works, albeit not the "while ((var2 = var5.readLine()) != null) {" bit.. So I'm wondering how to fix it, a java beginner. String var2 = ""; HttpURLConnection var3 = null; DataOutputStream var4 = null; DataInputStream var5 = null; ...more code here.... try { var5 = new DataInputStream(var3.getInputStream()); while ((var2 = var5.readLine()) != null) { System.out.println("Server Response " + var2); ScreenShotHelper.mc.thePlayer.addChatMessage("\u00a7aSuccessfully uploaded screenshot! Direct link:"); ScreenShotHelper.mc.thePlayer.addChatMessage("\u00a7a" + var2); } var5.close(); }

  • Font choices in International scenarios: multilingual vs unicode

    - by TravisO
I have a website that will eventually display multiple languages. I notice the common fonts used in web CSS (ex: Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman, Tahoma) and even the newer Vista/Office 2007/VS2008 fonts (Calibri,Cambria, Candara, Corbel, etc) are significantly larger (~350K) than your average (US only?) TTF font (~50k) so these fonts contain most/all the major character sets that common languages (Spanish, French, German, etc) use. My question is, would somebody confirm that these fonts listed above are acceptable for international use of the major (let's say top 8) spoken languages? If so, then I'm guessing the only purpose of unicode fonts; such "Arial Unicode" (a massive 22mb) is only for dealing with extremely niche dialog, eastern glyphs (Chinese, Japanese) and dead languages? I'm just looking for some confirmation from developers that have their desktop apps/web apps rendering multiple languages and have a visual confirmation, I'm already in the 99% sure bin but you know what they say about assumption.

  • How do you create a formula that has diminishing returns?

    - by egervari
I guess this is a math question and not a programming question, but what is a good way to create a formula that has diminishing returns? Here are some example points on how I want the curve to look like. f(1) = 1 f(1.5)= .98 f(2) = .95 f(2.5) = .9 f(3) = .8 f(4) = .7 f(5) = .6 f(10) = .5 f(20) = .25 Notice that as the input gets higher, the percentage decreases rapidly. Is there any way to model a function that has a very smooth and accurate curve that says this? Another way to say it is by using a real example. You know in Diablo II they have Magic Find? There are diminishing returns for magic find. If you get 100%, the real magic find is still 100%. But the more get, your actual magic find goes down. So much that say if you had 1200, your real magic find is probably 450%. So they have a function like: actualMagicFind(magicFind) = // some way to reduced magic find

  • How to update user info with restful_authentication plugin in Rails?

    - by benoror
Hi people, I want to give the users to change their account info with restful_authentication plugin in rails. I added this two methods to my controller: def edit @user = User.find(params[:id]) end def update @user = User.find(params[:id]) # Only update password when necessary params[:user].delete(:password) if pàrams[:user][:password].blank? respond_to do |format| if @user.update_attributes(params[:user]) flash[:notice] = 'User was successfully updated.' format.html { redirect_to(@user) } format.xml { head :ok } else format.html { render :action => "edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @user.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end Also, I copied new.html.erb to edit.html.erb. Considering that resources are already defined in routes.rb I was expecting it to work easily, bute somehow when I click the save button it calls the create method, instead of update, using a POST http request. Any ideas?

  • C++ - Opening a file inside a function using fopen. (Noob problem)

    - by Josh
I am using Visual Studio 2005 (C++). I am passing a string into a function as a char array. I want to open the file passed in as a parameter and use it. I know my code works to an extent, because if I hardcode the filename as the first parameter it works perfectly. I do notice if I look at the value as a watch, the value includes the address aside the string literal. I have tried passing in the filename as a pointer, but it then complains about type conversion with __w64. As I said before it works fine with "filename.txt" in place of fileName. I am stumped. void read(char fileName[50],int destArray[MAX_R][MAX_C],int demSize[2]) { int rows=0; int cols=0; int row=0; int col=0; FILE * f = fopen(fileName,"r"); ...

  • What data type should I use for my texture coordinates in OpenGL ES?

    - by Matthew Chen
    I notice that the default data type for texture coordinates in the OpenGL docs is GLfloat, but much of the sample code I see written by experienced iphone developers uses GLshort or GLbyte. Is this an optimization? GLfloat vertices[] = { // Upper left x1, y2, // Lower left x1, y1, // Lower right x2, y1, // Upper right x2, y2, }; glTexCoordPointer(2, GL_FLOAT, 0, iconSTs); vs. GLbyte vertices[] = { // Upper left x1, y2, // Lower left x1, y1, // Lower right x2, y1, // Upper right x2, y2, }; glTexCoordPointer(2, GL_BYTE, 0, iconSTs);

  • Mixture of php shorttags

    - by drpcken
I'm taking over a codeigniter project and notice the original dev uses a mixture of short tag and php tags in the views. For example: <div id="content"> <?=show_header()?> <ul id="products"> <?php if (count($products) > 0) : ?> <?php foreach($products as $product) : ?> ... </div> Is this bad practice to inherit? I think it is already causing me problems in my dev environment.

  • Int[] Reverse - What does this actually do?

    - by Jamie Dixon
I was just having a play around with some code in LINQPad and noticed that on an int array there is a Reverse method. Usually when I want to reverse an int array I'd do so with Array.Reverse(myIntArray); Which, given the array {1,2,3,4} would then return 4 as the value of myIntArray[0]. When I used the Reverse() method directly on my int array: myIntArray.Reverse(); I notice that myIntArray[0] still comes out as 1. What is the Reverse method actually doing here?

    - by Nils Riedemann
Hi there, I have zsh set up as my default shell. It works fine as long as i am not within a screen. When i start screen it looks as if some dotfiles are not loaded. For example my $PATH isn't set correctly and some directories are missing. I'm not quite sure where to start looking. Since all is fine, as long as i'm not in a screen. My dotfiles can be viewed on github. I also use oh-my-zsh — as you will notice.

  • How to output an array's content in columns in BASH.

    - by Arko
I wanted to display a long list of strings from an array. Right now, my script run through a for loop echoing each value to the standard output: for value in ${values[@]} do echo $value done Yeah, that's pretty ugly! And the one column listing is pretty long too... I was wondering if i can find a command or builtin helping me to display all those values in columns, like the ls command does by default when listing a directory (ls -C). [Update] Losing my brain with column not displaying properly formatted columns, here's more info: The values: $ values=( 01----7 02----7 03-----8 04----7 05-----8 06-----8 07-----8 08-----8 09---6 10----7 11----7 12----7 13----7 14-----8 15-----8 16----7 17----7 18---6 19-----8 20-----8 21-----8) (Notice the first two digits as an index and the last one indicating the string length for readability) The command: echo " ${values[@]/%/$'\n'}" | column The result: Something is going wrong...

  • Rails and jQuery - how do you get server-side validation errors to your view after an ajax request

    - by adam
Ive searched this site but questions are usually regarding doing client-side validations or for different frameworks. I have a tasks list whose items can be edited inline. Upon submitting the inline edit form the item is updated all thanks to jQuery, ajax and rails. But I want to handle bad input from the user. HTML requests redisplay the view and errors are displayed thanks to rails helpers. But how do I insert that information after an ajax call? Heres my update method in my controller def update @task = Task.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| if @task.update_attributes(params[:task]) flash[:notice] = 'Task was successfully updated.' format.html { redirect_to(@task) } format.xml { head :ok } format.js else format.html { render :action => "edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @task.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } #format.js ...hmmm... either go to js.erb file or do stuff inline end end end

  • saving appengine mail from spam filters

    - by Fh
One of my clients uses Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security to protect their internal mail services. Suddenly InterScan decided to filter out all messages coming from Google App Engine. Unfortunately they haven't been able to whitelist the sender address as each e-mail gets a different one. For example, *3ckihSOVMMHlZHSL.JSMMHlZHSL.JS*@apphosting.bounces.google.com, with everything before the @ being variable. Update I'm including this screenshot of how Interscan sees the incoming e-mail. Notice that all senders are different: If I look into the e-mail headers, the apphosting domain appears inside the Return-Path field: Return-Path: <36kSiSwYIBh0883XL3E7.5EH883XL3E7.5E@apphosting.bounces.google.com> The "From" field looks ok. It says what I set it to say, but the spam filter only looks at the Return-Path. My client sysadmin doesn't want to whitelist the whole apphosting domain, as it wouldn't be only whitelisting my application. How could I bypass this e-mail filters if I can't get an unique sender? Thanks,

  • Can folks that edit tags make sure they preserve the information that they would be editing away?

    - by vkraemer
I have notice that some folks edit the tags associated with questions to make the tag more generic, like converting netbeans6.8-netbeans. I think this is a good thing. BUT, most users/askers do not include version info in the text of their question and some of them do pick the 'versioned' tag. That additional info is valuable at that point. Please read the question before you edit version info out of tags. If the version info is not in the question's text.... take another moment to edit the text of the question, so the info is immediately available to folks that are trying to answer questions.

  • F# books question

    - by Michiel Borkent
I am now reading Foundations of F# by Robert Pickering and parallelly the book in progress 'Real World Functional Programming' by Tomas Petricek. My question is, what is the added value I would get from buying and reading the following books: 1) Expert F# by Don Syme and others 2) F# for Scientists by John Harrop Are those books still up to date with the current CTP version. What are things to keep notice of with respect to the recent changes in the language? Will there be reprinted updated versions? Also I want to learn more about datamining techniques with F# as a tool for this. What are good books to read next on this topic?

  • CoreDumpDirectory isn't working on ubuntu; getting segmentation fault with php

    - by siran
I'm trying to solve a segmentation fault. This message appears in my apache-error.log: [notice] child pid 3979 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I've tried disabling some apache and php modules but I'm still getting the same error. I've also tried putting this in apache2.conf: CoreDumpDirectory /tmp/apache2-gdb-dump and then chmod 777, chown www-data... so that the server can write. I can see no core-dump files to give me a hint on the error. Does anybody have an idea why CoreDumpDirectory isn't working on Ubuntu?

  • selenium cannot find element with class in IE

    - by Rob
I'm using selenium_client with cucumber, webrat + IE As you'd expect, Firefox works fine. I've tried the following: selenium.is_visible("css=#flash .flash_notice") selenium.is_visible("xpath=//*[@id='flash']/*[@class='flash_notice]") selenium.is_visible("xpath=//*[@id='flash']/*[contains(@class,'flash_notice]')") both cannot find the element. I think it must be something to do with IE, looking closer at the html selenium returns from IE... It looks like this: <UL id=flash> <LI className=flash_notice>Deleted</LI> </UL> Notice IE returns the class attribute as className, is this confusing selenium? How can I get round this so that I can use the same statement for selenium using IE and Firefox Just to confuse us even more, this example works, confirming its something to do with checking the class attribute selenium.is_visible("xpath=//*[@id='flash']/*[. =\'Deleted\']")

  • fastest way to search through this data object? (python)

    - by victor
I have a data object that looks like this: { 'node-16': { 'tags': ['cuda'], 'localNodes': [ { 'name': 'nC', 'consumesFrom': ['nA', 'nB'], 'classType': 'VectorAdder.VectorAdder' }, { 'name': 'nB', 'consumesFrom': None, 'classType': 'RandomVector' } ] }, 'node-17': { 'tags': ['boring'], 'localNodes': [ { 'name': 'nA', 'consumesFrom': None, 'classType': 'RandomVector' } ] } } Notice that node nA is a producer for nC. What's the fastest way to find out if a given localNode is a producer for another localnode in the data structure (and not within the same list)? For example, I would like to know that nA (node-17) produces for nC (exists on node-16). But I don't need to know that nB produces for nC, since they exist in the same localNodes list.

  • Cannot see response body in ie8 when response http status code is set to some error code(422)

    - by Deewendra Shrestha
I am making a requset to a web service that sends custom error with proper HTTP header when I notice some validation error, this works fine in chrome and mozilla as things always do and then it broke in ie8 as it always does! After checking the network activity, I see that ie8 is not able to get response body when HTTP code is other that 200(or at-least it seems so). In groovy I am returning error like : render(status: 422, contentType: 'TEXT', text: ((errors as JSON) as String)) Is there a way I could somehow get ie8 to read in the response body, or as an alternative I might be able to set response header but before trying that I was wondering if you guys have already seen this issue and know a solution to it. Thanks, Dee
