• Are where any Visual Studio addings for true 'smart tabs'?

  Hello. 'Smart Tabs' concept allows to automatically insert tab character for block indentation and space characters for in-block formatting. It's described here. Unfortunately, Visual Studio's 'smart tabs' option in text editor settings just indents text on enter press. Same name, completely different and near useless thing :). So, maybe someone knows of a visual studio addin that can change how 'tab' key work so it will insert tab characters and space characters according to rules mentioned above? Any hints are welcome.

  I want to read the file "teste", make some "find&replace" and overwrite "teste" with the results. The closer i got till now is: $cat teste I have to find something This is hard to find... Find it wright now! $sed -n 's/find/replace/w teste1' teste $cat teste1 I have to replace something This is hard to replace... If I try to save to the same file like this: $sed -n 's/find/replace/w teste' teste or: $sed -n 's/find/replace/' teste > teste The result will be a blank file... I know I am missing something very stupid but any help will be welcome. • How do I change the name of an application tab?

  I'm working on a facebook page for a client and with the new profiles pages starting to roll out I've come across an issue with the name of the app I created. The original profiles which most of you will see here - http://www.facebook.com/DrMartyBecker says "Welcome" as the tab name. On the new profile pages the tab says 'drMARTY', I can't find the place where I can modify the name. So i was wondering if there was a way to change this and where. Thanks for the help!

• Can I subscribe to window-docking events in windows 7 from C#

  Hi. I am wondering if it is possible to create an application that could receive a notification when any other application/window is docked with the new windows 7 docking feature (f.ex. Winkey + left arrow) The purpose of my application would be to set up custom rules for certain windows. So for example if I am using Chrome and I press the Win+LEFT keys, then my application would receive a notification, and would be able to say that the window should not resize to 50% of the screen, but should use 70%. I am not very familiar with writing windows applications (mostly do web), so any pointers at how this might be achieved are very welcome. Thanks.

  Attempting to learn CI and going through the docs to get a better understanding. Without getting a separate library, I could make a template by including a list of views like so: $this->load->view('header'); $this->load->view('navigation'); $this->load->view('sidenav_open'); $this->load->view('blocks/userinfo'); $this->load->view('blocks/stats'); $this->load->view('sidenav_close'); $this->load->view('content',$data); $this->load->view('footer'); This makes sense but would I actually have that on each of my controllers (pages)? Not sure if there is a way to include this in the initial controller (welcome) and then in the others somehow reference it? Or perhaps there is something I am missing completely

• Problems loading controller from url with codeigniter?

  I'm currently in the process of putting up my first website for public use. I am using the codeigniter framework in order to do this, but I am having trouble loading the controllers from the url. I currently have the default codeigniter installment that you download trying to get things to work. The controller welcome is loaded by default, but when I try to load it through the url it doesn't work. I was having the same problem with the site that I had uploaded earlier. • Prevent .htaccess syntax error

  Hi, As part of one our system's we enable a user in the backoffice to add a block of 301 redirects should they need to. This is just a textarea which then populates a specific area of a .htaccess file. As much as this may seem insecure it has only previously used internally by people who know what they are doing but for various reasons they cannot access the specific file. We need now to allow more access to this function, not for the general public, but for people that probably have far less knowledge of regexp etc and syntax in htaccess files. Obviously the major concern here is the user enters some bad syntax and makes their entire site, including the backoffice where they could fix the issue, totally inaccessible without manual intervention. What approaches can i take to make sure that they do not break their site? A htaccess syntax check? copy the file elsewhere and check it doesnt generate a 500 error (with cURL or similar)?. Would welcome any ideas. Thanks.

  I'll explain my situation first: I'm interested of using the Bitmap constructor that takes scan0, stride and format, because I'm decoding tiled images and I'd like to choose my own stride so I can decode the tiles without caring about the bounds in the decoder part. Anyway, the problem is that the documentation says: The caller is responsible for allocating and freeing the block of memory specified by the scan0 parameter. However, the memory should not be released until the related Bitmap is released. I can't release the buffer easily, because the Bitmap is then passed to another class that will eventually destroy it and I don't have control over it. Is there some way (hacky, I know) to tell the GC to also release my buffer when the Bitmap is destroyed? (Also, any alternative solution is welcome).

  Hiya, A client of ours is attending a business fair and would like to push some sort of "welcome message" to people visiting their space. I'm not too familiar with Bluetooth, so I have a few questions: What kind of content can you transfer via Bluetooth? (Is it files only or is it possible to send a simple text message?) Is it possible to push content only to recipients within a certain distance? (ie. based on signal strength or similar) Can anybody recommend a piece of software that can do some or all of the above? If necessary we could program a custom solution ourselves (.NET), but I'm sure there must be a program out there that can do the job. I've googled a bit and came across the 32feet.NET framework - does anybody have any experience with this framework? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

• c++ Mixing printf, cout with wprintf, wcout

  I know you should not mix printing with printf,cout and wprintf,wcout, but have a hard time finding a good answer why and if it is possible to get round it. The problem is I use a external library that prints with printf and my own uses wcout. If I do a simple example it works fine, but from my full application it simply does not print the printf statements. If this is really a limitation, then there would be many libraries out there which can not work together with wide printing applications. Any insight on this is more than welcome.

  I try to lead the types from an .dll (which is also referenced in the executing project). I call: public static void LoadPlugin(string pluginFile) { Assembly assembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(pluginFile); foreach (Type type in assembly.GetTypes()) { // play with it } } It loads just a few of them: public partial class Mathematics : UserControl, IMathematics, IPortable and public partial class Welcome : UserControl but the next one, and some others, are ignored: public partial class Test : UserControl, ITest, IPortable They all stand in the same assembly, under the same namespace. The public static void LoadPlugin(string pluginFile) method is located in other assembly that is also referenced in the executing project. No exceptions are thrown. What could be the issues for not loading all the types? Any ideas?

  I have a site where authentication is done externally (which I can't access), so I'm creating a cookie on login in order to display a welcome message to the user. Creating the cookie works fine, I write to document.cookie when the login form submits. But deleting the cookie doesn't work. • What happens if you break out of a Lock() statement?

  I'm writing a program which listens to an incoming TcpClient and handles data when it arrives. The Listen() method is run on a separate thread within the component, so it needs to be threadsafe. If I break out of a do while loop while I'm within a lock() statement, will the lock be released? If not, how do I accomplish this? Thanks!   So what I want to do is, in my main layout, have a menu for logged in users, and a different for anon users. THe layout will be used on every page, so I'm not sure how to do this, as I've seen, the Auth Component can only be used in the controller, this would be nice if I had to do this in only one view, but for every view, how can I do this?   This is working fine, but I'm looking for any feedback on how to do it better. Right now I think it's better than nested loops, but it starts to get Perl-one-linerish when you have a generator in a list comprehension. Any suggestions are welcome. day_count = (end_date - start_date).days + 1 for single_date in [d for d in (start_date + timedelta(n) for n in range(day_count)) if d <= end_date]: print strftime("%Y-%m-%d", single_date.timetuple()) Notes: I'm not actually using this to print; that's just for demo purposes. The variables start_date and end_date are datetime.date objects, because I don't need the timestamps (they're going to be used to generate a report). • C++: use array of strings wrapped in namespace?

  I got the following code, wishing to wrap a group of strings nicely in a namespace: namespace msgs { const int arr_sz = 3; const char *msg[arr_sz] = {"blank", "blank", "blank" }; msg[0] = "Welcome, lets start by getting a little info from you!\n"; msg[1] = "Alright, bla bla bla.."; msg[2] = "etc."; } The code inside works nicely inside a function, but I don't know how to return an array from it. The namespace idea LOOKS fine, but it returns on the last three lines: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before ‘=’ token Why can't I define the array inside a namespace, do I need to do something first? It's nice because I can call it like printf(msgs::msg[1]) etc. I want to do this I just can't wrap my head around what's wrong :(

• c++: what is a good idea for a list of strings?

  I simply want to build an RPG and make it as neat as possible, I wish to define a pile of strings which I may want to edit later, so I tried something like this: enum {MSG_INIT = "Welcome to ...", MSG_FOO = "bar"}; But I just get errors, such as that MSG_INIT is not an integer! Why must it not be a string, are that what enums are only for? What do you think is the best way to define a pile of strings? In a struct called msg or something? I'm kinda new to all this so I'd really appreciate small examples.

  I have 2 generic Lists List<type1> L1 , List<type2> L2 in C# 3.5 Problem: type1 has an attribute called "key1" and type2 has an attribute called "key2" How to merge L1 and L2 on key1 = key2. Both lists are unsorted but I'm welcome to any ideas on how to sort the lists based on the attribute. I'd like to be able to merge the two lists on a key. I know it's not a dictionary and it would've been nice if it was but there is a very specific reason why they are lists which I will not get in to because that is irrelevant.

• NullPointerException when accessing image files in a .jar file

  Hi, I have pretty much tried everything but still have this same problem. I have the following setup: I have a images.jar containing a folder called 'images' in which there are multiple image files. I add images.jar to the java build path of the project in eclipse, and i've been trying to use the following code to access the individual images in the jar: URL url = this.getClass().getResource("images/a.png"); ImageIcon icon = new ImageIcon (url); Unfortunately, the URL object is always NULL. I don't think this has anything to do with where I put images.jar file as it is added to the classpath in eclipse. I have also tried using the path '/images/a.png', but still the same problem. Any suggestion would be extremely welcome! Thanks.
