• When working with gems in Rails, what does 'cannot remove Object::ClassMethods' stem from?

  Frequently I have run into a problem when installing gems that provides a problem like: Does anyone know what this stems from? • Glassfishv3 and log4j

  Hi... I´m using glassfishv3 for few days. But i don´t know how to get log4j working with the v3. In glassfishv2 there was a "System Classpath" field which you could used in order to point to your log4j.properties file. But in glassfishv3 "System Classpath" is not supported any more. So where i have to put the log4j.properties file on glassfishv3??? Thanks

• Consuming "Event Tracing for Windows" events

  An answer to this question has led me to look into using "Event Tracing for Windows" for our tracing needs. I have come across NTrace, which seems to be a good way to produce ETW events from C# code (using the XP-compatible "classic provider" model). However, I am unable to find an easy way to consume these events - to see them in real-time and/or log them to a file. The only way I have found is that described in the NTrace documentation: using a tool which is only available as part of the Windows DDK. In the case of a complex problem in the field, we may need to ask the user to produce a file containing a trace. We can't ask users to download the DDK or carry out a number of complex operations in order to do this. Is there a straightforward, user-friendly way to log ETW events to a file? Also, is it possible for someone to consume ETW events on Windows Vista/7 if they are not running as administrator?

• Selenium and Headless Environment

  I recently installed Python 2.7, Robot Framework and the Selenium Library (I still don't know if I succeded though...) on a Red Hat Server to run some test on a web application. So I tried a simple test case using the robot framework to see if Selenium Library is functional, just to Open a web page, nothing more... Selenium Server is up and running according to the result of ps, and firefox binaries are in the PATH... Running the test case from the Robot Framework (with the pybot testcasename.tsv) I get an exception: ERROR: Problem capturing a screenshot to string: java.awt.AWTException: headless environment So, what is the Headless Environment? Does anyone have an idea if there is something else that needs to be istalled or to be configured as well?

• Changelog file: YAML vs JSON vs CSV

  Hello everybody. I am creating a simple Changelog lib in CodeIgniter that will basically log a message everytime someone adds, deletes, changes or publish a blog post. I will log messages in files by batches of 300. So every 301st message will go in a new file. At first I wanted to write the logs to simple .log files but then I got the idea to actually style the thing and I had to seperate each "attribute" of each message (ie: the user, the message, the type of the log, etc.). So .log files are out of the question since extracting the info would be a pain. What is the most appropriate format for such a task? I already ruled out MySQL and XML because they are too heavy (especially considering that the log files won't exceed (about) 300 lines). I suggested YAML vs JSON vs CSV in the title, but is there yet a better alternative?

  Any help is appreciated: I'm developing a C#.Net app in VS2010 that interacts with Excel. The app works correctly on my local machine. Uploading to a remote Windows 2003 server however, breaks the app. Originally, I received the following message Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 After Googling the problem (which suggested a permissions problem) i tried this: Installing Excel 2007 Going into Component Services on the remote server and following the instructions here: http://blog.crowe.co.nz/archive/2006/03/02/589.aspx Now I get this message on the same operation: Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC Google searches seem to be suggesting that this is a version match error. However, both the local machine and the remote server use Excel 2007. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance. -Daniel

  I need to get information about applied CSS styles in HTML page. I used AxWebBrowser and iterate IHTMLDOMNode. I'm able to get all the data I need and move the code into my application. The problem is that this part is running inside of the background worker and I got exception when trying to instantiate the control. AxWebBrowser browser = new AxWebBrowser(); ActiveX control '8856f961-340a-11d0-a96b-00c04fd705a2' cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single-threaded apartment. Is there any way how to solve this or other option than AxWebBrowser?

• Microsoft Workflow - "Event cannot be delivered"

  I have strange problem. My application is using Windows Workflow Foundation. It is simple app that creates requests and then other presons accepts/denies these requests. Everything was working very fine until my client took application to other servers (app and db). From this time WF instances are created in DB but when app tries to fire event to WF instance it strikes exception: "Event "EventName" for instance id "instanceGUID" cannot be delivered". What went wrong? Any suggestion where to start find the problem?

• Suggestion for chkstk.asm stackoverfolw exception in C++ with Visual Studio 2010

  I am working with an implementation of merge sort. I am doing C++ Visual Studio 2010. But when I took a array of 300000 integers for timing, it is showing an unhandled stackoverflow exception and taking me to a readonly file named "chkstk.asm". I reduced the size to 200000 and it worked. Again the same code worked with C-free 4 editor (mingw 2.95) without any problem while the size was 400000. Do you have any suggestion to get the code working in Visual Studio? May be the recursion in the mergesort is causing the problem.

  I have a console application in Visual studio. i have log4net stuff with smtp appender in my app.config file. I have set environment variable in my code (i.e. my email address) and trying to reference this environment variable to send email. However log4net doesn't seem to read this value when the application is run. • Firefox throwing a exception with HTML Canvas putImageData

  So I was working on this little javascript experiment and I needed a widget to track the FPS of it. I ported a widget I've been using with Actionscript 3 to Javascript and it seems to be working fine with Chrome/Safari but on Firefox is throwing an exception. This is the experiment: Depth of Field This is the error: [Exception... The idea is that I only draw a few pixels on the left of the bitmap and then on the next frame I copy the whole bitmap and paste it on pixel to the right. This error usually is thrown because you're pasting a bitmap bigger than the source and it's going off the limits, but in theory that shouldn't be the case as I'm defining 69 as the width of the rectangle to paste (being the bitmap 70px wide).   Hi, we have a horizontal cluster set up on JBoss 4.2. The session replication worked fine until we changed cache mode from REPL_ASYNC to REPL_SYNC to fix a issue. We started to see warning for some session failovers: [org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.InstantSnapshotManager.ROOT] Failed to replicate session java.lang.RuntimeException bc [local7.warning] JBossCacheService: exception occurred in cache put ... org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.JBossCacheWrapper.put(JBossCacheWrapper.java:147) org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.JBossCacheService.putSession(JBossCacheService.java:315) org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.JBossCacheClusteredSession.processSessionRepl(JBossCacheClusteredSession.java:125) Does anyone have any idea why this happen and how to fix it if we want to still use REPL_SYNC?
