  • My internet goes down after a while

    The problem is that the internet goes down after a while, i can connect perfectly when i first turn on my netbook but after a while it disconects and keeps trying to reconect but never gets it. now, im completely new in ubuntu, y merely know a few commands for the terminal and im not sure what info do you need from me to help... all i know is that the Wi-Fi is failind on ubuntu but not in windows 7 (in the sane netbook)

  • Help understanding the migrate wubi documentation?

    I'm looking at the MigrateWubi page but I'm not sure if I need to change the partition directories to the ones I created, and if so, I'm not too sure which ones I need to change. Here are the partitions I've made: Should I just copy and paste: sudo bash wubi-move.sh /dev/sda5 /dev/sda6 into my terminal or something else? Also, do I enter just this one line or do i need to enter any other commands in there? Thanks!

Does anyone know of an algorithm, or a place to start looking( I tried google first but haven't found a good place to get started) to perform boolean operations on said meshes and get a set of vertices and triangle for the resulting mesh?     Question: Why can't Java/C# implement RAII? Clarification: I am aware the garbage collector is not deterministic. So with the current language features it is not possible for an object's Dispose() method to be called automatically on scope exit. But could such a deterministic feature be added? My understanding: I feel an implementation of RAII must satisfy two requirements: 1. The lifetime of a resource must be bound to a scope. 2. Implicit. The freeing of the resource must happen without an explicit statement by the programmer. Analogous to a garbage collector freeing memory without an explicit statement. The "implicitness" only needs to occur at point of use of the class. The class library creator must of course explicitly implement a destructor or Dispose() method. Java/C# satisfy point 1. In C# a resource implementing IDisposable can be bound to a "using" scope: void test() { using(Resource r = new Resource()) { r.foo(); }//resource released on scope exit } This does not satisfy point 2. The programmer must explicitly tie the object to a special "using" scope. Programmers can (and do) forget to explicitly tie the resource to a scope, creating a leak. In fact the "using" blocks are converted to try-finally-dispose() code by the compiler. It has the same explicit nature of the try-finally-dispose() pattern. Without an implicit release, the hook to a scope is syntactic sugar. void test() { //Programmer forgot (or was not aware of the need) to explicitly //bind Resource to a scope. Resource r = new Resource(); r.foo(); }//resource leaked!!! I think it is worth creating a language feature in Java/C# allowing special objects that are hooked to the stack via a smart-pointer. The feature would allow you to flag a class as scope-bound, so that it always is created with a hook to the stack. There could be a options for different for different types of smart pointers. class Resource - ScopeBound { /* class details */ void Dispose() { //free resource } } void test() { //class Resource was flagged as ScopeBound so the tie to the stack is implicit. Resource r = new Resource(); //r is a smart-pointer r.foo(); }//resource released on scope exit. I think implicitness is "worth it". Just as the implicitness of garbage collection is "worth it". Explicit using blocks are refreshing on the eyes, but offer no semantic advantage over try-finally-dispose(). Is it impractical to implement such a feature into the Java/C# languages? Could it be introduced without breaking old code?

  • How can I get the touch screen working on a motion computing m1400

    I picked up a motion computing m1400 for cheap and was successful in getting 11.04 installed on it but have run into trouble getting the touch screen to work. This is one of the older tablet pcs that need a special pen for the touch screen. There are instructions out there for older versions of Ubuntu but they usually rely on a package called wacom-tools that is no longer in the repos. Is there any support for these old tablets or has time passed them by?

    I have in my Profile folder "Home" some specials folders as "Wallpapers", "TXT", etc. and y use for those an personalized icon, the problem is that any time I reinstall Ubuntu, I have to assign again the icon to that particular folder, and with the years an the installs the number of folders are increasing.     So I installed Ubuntu 12.04 a few days ago and strangely I missed the part where we choose to encrypt home folder. However I already ran the commands on this question (How to check if your home folder and swap partition are encrypted using terminal?) to check if home folder and swap partition are encrypted and they are. So why is that Ubuntu did not provide me the cryptographic key the same way it happened when I installed Ubuntu 11.04???

  • Wubi installation: I get os freezes which make me have to hard reboot

    Wubi installation has been going a success for me, but one problem is that I get freezes, My Mouse works I can move it round but I can't click or right click. Sometimes my keyboard works and so I can shutdown safely using commands, but other times the keyboard doesn't work. One example of this is when I was running minecraft and youtube. and to off the laptop the only way was to hard reboot. Does anyone have a solution to this?
