• Ubuntu 12.10 no network and no graphics

  I recently upgraded Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 only to find out that it won't connect to any network, neither wired nor wireless and the graphics is messed up too as in a low screen resolution. For 12.04, my system was running perfectly. I don't know why upgrade messed it up so bad. Reinstalling the OS is an issue because I have set up a lot of development environments that I cannot afford to set it up again.   I've finally noodled with OpenVPN enough to get it working. Even better, I can mount samba drives, ping network machines through the TUN device, etc - it's all great. However, I'm noticing that if I have the directive: push "dhcp-option DNS 10.0.1.1" # Push our local DNS to clients Then some of the machines that are normally visible by the client, on the client's side (i.e., not through the VPN) get masked with some other server out on the Internet. Is there any way to avoid this, besides hacking the 'hosts' file on the client machine? Ideally I'd like to only use my VPN's DNS for machines within that domain.

• Apache load balancer limits with Tomcat over AJP

  Hi All, I have Apache acting as a load balancer in front of 3 Tomcat servers. Occasionally, Apache returns 503 responses, which I would like to remove completely. All 4 servers are not under significant load in terms of CPU, memory, or disk, so I am a little unsure what is reaching it's limits or why. 503s are returned when all workers are in error state - whatever that means. • Un-failing over a Cisco PIX 515e

  We had a power outage at our data center last week and when our dual PIX 515E running IOS 7.0(8) (configured with a failover cable) came back, they were in a failed over state where the Secondary unit is active and the Primary unit is standby I have tried 'failover reset', 'failover active', and 'failover reload-standby' as well as executing reloads on both units in a variety of orders, and they don't come back Primary/Active Secondary/Standby. The only thing in my arsenal that I haven't tried is driving to the data center and performing a hard reboot, which I hate to do. • How can I force a tree itemrenderer to redraw during a drag and drop operation?

  I have a tree control with a custom item renderer. The item renderer has different states that should be set while an item is being dragged over the item renderer. I understand from reading this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/2091088 that the 'right way' to do this is to override the 'getCurrentState' method and append some text. I do that. Now in my tree control I handle the drag over event and get a reference to the itemrenderer that is being dragged over and I set the boolean 'dragOver' property to true. Now I just need to force my itemRenderer to redraw. I can't figure that out. A workaround, is to just set the currentState of the itemRenderer. My question then, how can I force my itemRenderer to refresh?   My scenario: This is an ASP.NET 4.0 web app programmed via C# I implement a repository pattern. My repositorys all share the same ObjectContext, which is stored in httpContext.Items. Each repository creates a new ObjectSet of type E. Heres some code from my repository: public class Repository<E> : IRepository<E>, IDisposable where E : class { private DataModelContainer _context = ContextHelper<DataModelContainer>.GetCurrentContext(); private IObjectSet<E> _objectSet; private IObjectSet<E> objectSet { get { if (_objectSet == null) { _objectSet = this._context.CreateObjectSet<E>(); } return _objectSet; } } public IQueryable<E> GetQuery() { return objectSet; } Lets say I have 2 repositorys, 1 for states and 1 for countrys and want to create a linq query against both. Note that I use POCO classes with the entity framework. State and Country are 2 of these POCO classes. Repository stateRepo = new Repository<State>(); Repository countryRepo = new Repository<Country>(); IEnumerable<State> states = (from s in _stateRepo.GetQuery() join c in _countryRepo.GetQuery() on s.countryID equals c.countryID select s).ToList(); Debug.WriteLine(states.First().Country.country) essentially, I want to retrieve the state and the related country entity. The query only returns the state data... and I get a null argument exception on the Debug.WriteLine LazyLoading is disabled in my .edmx... thats the way I want it.

• Wix Burn issue: Uninstall fails saying "Found dependent"

Now if user selects one of the msi to install, installation goes fine. • Connectivity good between VMs, but no connectivity between host and VM

  I have a strange situation where connectivity (ie ping, access shared folders and services) is fine between virtual machines, but not between the host and the virtuals. I've been using Hyper-V almost every day for years and have never had a problem like this. Note the following: The host machine and all virtuals are running Windows Server 2008 r1. All machines can connect to the web, and the gateway router. Subnet mask and gateway reported in ipconfig are identical for all machines. I can access virtuals via the Hyper-V snap-in only. Doea anyone have suggestions about what might be wrong, or what diagnostic steps I can take?

• Windows 7 Pro sysprep not working

  Hello, I'm trying to sysprep a Windows 7 Professional machine, prior to grabbing an image for mass deployment on identical hardware, and am having a hard time getting sysprep to work (at all). I've created an XML answer file with WSIM, and have a basic setupcomplete.cmd file, but none of the configurations in the answer file seem to be applied. I've read technet articles and googled, and I still have no idea why this is happening.   I am trying to install a copy of Windows Server 2012 on two machines. Both machines go through the initial "Files loading" progress bar and get to the new Windows Server 2012 logo. However, the installation (on both machines) will immediately fail, and the machine will restart. I am trying to figure out if there's a way to display diagnostic information about the error before or after restarting, but Google is not helping me at all.   I have deployed a wireless network using Aerohive access points. 2 of them are set up as radius servers. I want my users to be able to use the same user name and password they use when they log onto our domain. They are able to do this from android devices or computers running Windows 8. It will not work on Windows 7 machines. How do I remedy this situation, keeping in mind that the machines are personal machines not company owned and I will have no way to change their hardware or software.

However all machines running windows 7 have no effect, I believe there are few more steps, all Windows 7 machines are on domain and we want to control this via Domain Controler's GPO. Please let me know, what I need to do to have Windows 7 disable the properties of network connection, I am not network expert, I read few articles about what new has been added in GPO of windows 7 but I am blank. Everything works fine on Windows XP, Vista, 2003 Server. Only Windows 7 is a problem.

  I've installed Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 because I would like to administer my Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core machine. The problem that I'm getting when I try to run Server Manager is: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: Access is denied.   Hello, I am using a cluster of machines running on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS which are supposed to be homogeneous, but apparently they are not. In particular, I am configuring the X server on these machines, and I pushed a /etc/X11/XF86Config that includes the following section: Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation" BusID "PCI:5:0:0" EndSection The problem is that the BusID of the graphic card is PCI:5:0:0 for some machines, and PCI:3:0:0 for others. Is there a way that the X server automatically detects the appropriate Device (based on the name for instance)? Thanks,
