  • How do I customize what a third party MSM does?

    I'm trying to convert a project in Visual Studio 2008 from static linking of the CRT to dynamic linking. This was easy enough, and I added the CRT MSM and policy MSM to my Wix file with no problems. I am not that happy with the MSI that is output though, it is much larger than what I expected. Looking at the MSI with Orca shows three copies of the CRT DLLs that I need. From looking at the conditions, one of the sets is used for pre-XP installs. Since the system requirements are XP and later, how do I remove this component without touching the original MSM? This needs to be done in an automated build, so Orca isn't a possible solution. Plus, when I tried it with Orca, the filesize remained the same after deleting the File and Component rows. And somewhat related, how do I set the permanent attribute in the components that remain?

  • Flex Modules vs RSL

    Hi, I'm a little bit confused about when is better to use Flex Modules or RSL libriaries (in Flex 3.5). My goal is split my project in several unit projects, so I can test and work separately. Let's assume I have a Customer app and Vendor app. I also have a front-end panel with two buttons. Each button launches Customer app or Vendor app. These applications make different things. They share some .as functions and common components, too. I understand that if I make a main project (for user login and to show a first panel) and two modules (customer, vendor) I must have all that components in my Eclipse project, isn't it? Instead of doing modules, should I create SWC for Vendor and other for Customer app and call from main app by using RSL? So, which option is more suitable? What do you advise me? Which are the trade-offs of each option? On the other side, this flex application is integrated with Java through Blaze and ibatis for persistence managment, and hold by a web apache server. I considered also to create independent war files to keep this indpendence, but I thought this do not optimize flex code. I'm right? Thank you. Nil

    Which package from CPAN should I use to send mail? Sometime the timtowtdi approach is very tiring. For me, especially when it comes to package selection. So all I want is to send email, potentially HTML emails. Between Mail-Sendmail, Mail-Sender, NET-SMTP (by the way - not available in PPM), Mail-SendEasy, and the 80 or so other packages that have 'Mail' in their package name - which one should I choose? And while in this subject, what is your general apprach to choose the "canonical" package for a jog. I.e. the package that "everybody is using". Is there any rating or popularity billboard somewhere?

    We have installed apache 2.2, and activeperl to run bugzilla, all that on a Windows Server 2003. Here We want to install PHP on the server to install a wiki. I followed those steps: tutorial to install PHP and enable it from Apache. After all those steps, I restart couples of times, and When I try a simple phpinfo() on PHP, the whole PHP code is commented: < ! - - ?php phpinfo(); ? - - Now, the httpd.conf was already edited for the PERL and it can be those edits that make the mistake.   • Drupal and Login Toboggan -- infinite redirect loop

    I'm getting a redirect loop when using Login Toboggan. It doesn't happen all of the time and I think I've narrowed it down to something with the session, specifically the active-tabs[last-active-href] value. Since it's intermittent, I was able to print out a session of a working copy and a non-working copy. Here are both: WORKS -- Array ( [active-tabs] = Array ( [last-active-href] = index ) ) toboggan/denied DOESN'T WORK -- Array ( [active-tabs] = Array ( [last-active-href] = user/register [user] = user/register ) [wantsEvents] = [wantsResources] = [wantsSupport] = ) toboggan/denied I've also noticed that if I comment out the following line the redirection loop stops (although no page loads): $return = menu_execute_active_handler('user/register'); Any ideas? I'm at my wits end.

  • Product Kit does not save the selected products!

    Arg! When I save my product kit, with several product selected, I land on a blank product kit node (as in no sub products). The message confirms the update, however when I return to the node edit page the products are no longer selected, hence the blank kit node page. Thoughts on debugging this, or what might lead to it?

  • Strategies for dealing with Circular references caused by JPA relationships?

    I am trying to partition my application into modules by features packaged into separate jars such as feature-a.jar, feature-b.jar, ... etc. Individual feature jars such as feature-a.jar should contain all the code for a feature a including jpa entities, business logic, rest apis, unit tests, integration test ... etc. The problem I am running into is that bi-directional relationships between JPA entities cause circular references between the jar files. For example Customer entity should be in customer.jar and the Order should be in order.jar but Customer references order and order references customer making it hard to split them into separate jars / eclipse projects. Options I see for dealing with the circular dependencies in JPA entities: Option 1: Put all the entities into one jar / one project Option 2: Don't map certain bi-directianl relationships to avoid circular dependencies across projects. Questions: What rules / principles have you used to decide when to do bi-directional mapping vs. not? Have you been able to break jpa entities into their own projects / jar by features if so how did you avoid the circular dependencies issues?

    I would like to update one module in a python package with my own version of the module, with the following conditions: I want my updated module to live outside of the original package (either because I don't have access to the package source, or because I want to keep my local modifications in a separate repo, etc).     I'm currently writing a wrapper in python for a lot of custom company tools. I'm basically going to break each tool into its own py file with a class containing the call to the tool as a method. These will all be contained in a package. Then there'll be a master class that will import all from the package, then inherit from each and every class, so as to appear as one cohesive class. masterClass.py pyPackage - __ init__.py - module1.py --class Module1 ---method tool1 - module2.py --class Module2 ---method tool2 etc Right now, I'm autogenerating the master class file to inherit from the packages modules, but I was wondering if there was a more elegant way to do it? ie from package import * class MasterClass(package.all): pass

  • What is __path__ useful for?

    I had never noticed the __path__ attribute that gets defined on some of my packages before today. According to the documentation: Packages support one more special attribute, __path__. This is initialized to be a list containing the name of the directory holding the package’s __init__.py before the code in that file is executed. This variable can be modified; doing so affects future searches for modules and subpackages contained in the package. While this feature is not often needed, it can be used to extend the set of modules found in a package. Could somebody explain to me what exactly this means and why I would ever want to use it?
