    I have a website I recently converted from website to web application Project . When I compile It compiles Successfuly but when I run the code I get this error Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'DApplause.Logon'.     I'd like my application to query a csv file from a secure website. I have no experience with web programming so I'd appreciate detailed instructions. Currently I have the user login to the site, manually query the csv, and have my application load the file locally. I'd like to automate this by having the user enter his login information, authenticating him on the website, and querying the data. The application is written in C# .NET. The url of the site is: https://www2.emidas.com/default.asp. I've tested the following code already and am able to access the file once the user has already authenticated himself and created a manual query.     I am trying to integrate my asp.net 4.0(non MVC) website with facebook. I want to retrive the authenticated user info. The samples listed in facebooksdk is based on MVC. i tried to implement it in my website, but getting errors. i am struck. If anyone implemented the facebook connect logic and retrieved the user information using facebook-c#-sdk, please help me how to do this. I tried the same using facebooktoolkit, and i am able to retrive the user info. but the toolkit is having issues with .net 4.0. Greatly appreciated your help.

  • Web Service appears as website instead of developer web server

    I recently reimaged my PC and regrabbed one of our projects from Source Safe. In our solution we have a web service that normally runs on a server, however we can build the webservice on our localhost for debugging as well. However, now whenever I grab the project from source safe it is building the webservice as a website instead of a developer web server. This is causing a variety of issue, specifically I am no longer able to specify which port I would like that webservice to use. As a result I cannot connect to our database through my local webservice. How can I change the project in my solution that controls the webservice from a website to a developer web server?     I got interested in web-development lately. I am still a student. I learnt basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript! Then I thought I should improve my server side scripting. So I am learning Struts2 and I am doing better there. Now I have decided I should finally put my skill to some use. So I and my friend have decided to come up with a fun website for our class. But now I am realizing that, though I know server-side scripting to a good extent (not great, just good considering I am a beginner), I am nowhere near good in the basic elements viz. HTML, CSS and JavaScript! I mean, I can't do cool stuff with it. I am aware of w3schools, but it would be great if you can point out a more intuitive place where I can learn to do all the cool stuff in a short time. Some of the problems I am facing are: 1) How should I design the basic layout of my website? 2) How can I use 3rd party APIs like that of Facebook graph? regards shahensha

  • Computer Vision Website Image Slideshow help

    Hi, I'm making an online display of the output of a computer vision algorithm. After running the algorithm I am left with a folder of about 1000 16 bit .tiff files. I need to put those on the website in a list for so that the researchers can click through and find the list. Also there needs to be an image frame with an "animated gif" feel that can be started stopped and played in reverse. Any ideas on the best way to do this? What language to use? I made a simple website in Ruby on Rails but I don't know if it has the capabilities to do what I require.

    Hi I'm working on a website that's already been designed by someone else. The designer has used a big image (900x700 100KB) which contains a big logo right across the top, then the background for two columns. This image loads every time a page is loaded as it forms the basis for the website. What should I do with it to improve loading time? I'm considering splitting it up into two or more images, especially the logo on the top. Does splitting up images like that decrease loading time in any significant way? Thanks -edit: Also, all the images are .jpg, would changing this to .gif or .png help anything?

    hello to all, my client wants to play a flash video in their website. just to make sure i understand correctly, i need to: 1. create an FLV file 2. use either some flv player or wrap the flv inside swf questions: 1. the player option - will visitor have to download /install it or is it install only once, in the website itself? any FREE player you can recommend the will ensure cross browser compatibility? swf option: will i need the flash application in order to do the wrapping? will i be able to later use something like flashobject library for the actual embedding? what are the main considerations for choosing between the two options , if indeed these are the options? any help would be highly appreciated. have a nice day and let's pray for a lot of goals today :-)

  • Rails - Preventing users from contributing to website when there score is too low - callback / obser

    A User can add a Sentence directly on my website, via twitter or email. To add a sentence they must have a minimum score. If they don't have the minimum score they cant post the sentence and a warning message is either flashed on the website, sent back to them via twitter or email. So I'm wondering how best to code this check. Im thinking a sentence observer. So far my thoughts are in before_create score_sufficient() - score ok = save - score too low = do not save In the case of too low i need to return some flag so that the calling code can then fire off teh relevant warning. What type of flag should I return? False is too ambiguous as that could refer to validation. I could raise an exception but that doesn't sound right or I could return a symbol? Is this even the right approach? What's the best way to code this?

    hi, i have a form with 2 fields username: password: and a submit button. the user will enter his username and password for a remote website(not my website or my domain. eg. Gmail.com). i want once he click the submit button.a jQuery script check these login info on gmail.com and return back the result.they are wrong or working logins. and notify the user if it is wrong logins but if it is good working login info the form will submit. i don't know much jQuery but i am good with php. my search find that in order to do that i need to make cross-domain scripting by using php proxy between my jQuery script and the remote domain. i found also the simple php proxy. which looks great.but i dont know how to make the jQuery thing that connects all this together.

    Hi all, I've been stomping at this all day :( I want to display a status feed of both twitter and facebook on my website. For twitter, this is not a problem, as my account is public, I can easily get the feed. Facebook however, is a whole different story! I can't seem to find an easy way to just get my last status updates and display it on my website. The code I currently have, needs authentication of the visitor, and I don't want that! This is my current code: $facebook = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $stream = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT message,source,time FROM status WHERE uid = $user_id LIMIT 6"); I've seen several possible solutions, including the RSS feed, but as Facebook keeps changing the way their site works, none of the previous methods I've seen (including those from as late as januari) currently work! Is there anybody who can provide me with a currently working solution to this (simple?) problem?

    Hi everyone. What i basically want to do is to get content from a website and load it into a div of another website. This should be no problem so far. The problem is, that the content that should be fetched is located on a different server and i have no source access to it. I'd prefer a solution using JavaScript of jQuery. Can i use a .htacces redirect to fetch the content from a remote server with client-side (js) techniques? I will also go with other solutions though. Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Handling Timeouts In A Website SQLCommand Object and c#

    I'm using visual studio 2008 and sql server 2005 and everything is working just fine under normal use. However if a user is on a page for a while several minutes with no activity then clicks a button on occassion the site throws the following exception ... Procedure or Function "sp_name" parameter '@SomeParameterName', which was not supplied I'm also encountering this error in Visual Studio while debugging the application, in otherwords run the site from visual studio then make some change to the html in VS save the changes and refresh the page. The error is not consistent nor is the time the page has to stay idle in order for it to occur.... The current sql command object timeout is 30 secs and the website timeout is 30 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this scenario and what is the fix as I would not except anything to go out of scope until the website timeout occurs ... Any insight will be appreciated.

    I have a large .NET based system running within the company intranet, which allows winforms users to see some live calculated numbers and a custom winforms control drawn live (but not real-time). The Forms users can also affect the operation of the system. I would like to just show the live numbers on a website, along with the custom control. Nothing needs to come back from the web user, as the web app is meant to be just for monitoring. All the numbers can be calculated at the server. It's been a long time since I touched ASP.NET, and I need to know how to proceed. What are the steps in building and deploying such a website? Any caveats I need to look out for?

  • Error Exception 2048 on my website using OpenClassifieds software

    I have a website called e-waitress.net, it is a jobs employment website for the restaurant industry. I installed an open source program called OpenClassifieds and a couple days after installing the OpenClassifieds, I get an error message when I enter my url that is this: ErrorException [ 2048 ]: date_default_timezone_get(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are required to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead ~ APPPATH/ko322/classes/kohana/date.php [ 592 ] I am wondering is this a server issue with my host provider or is it within the OpenClassifieds installation software? I've reinstalled the software twice and it's returned this error after a couple days of working great. Any ideas?

The only way I know is to split the website with 9 div, such : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and create 8 images, respectively: top-left (on 1) top central (on 2) top-right (on 3) left (on 4) right (on 6) bottom-left (on 7) bottom-center (on 8) bottom-right (on 9) The div 5 is attempt as main. But the whole strategy looks not so well-formed. Any tips? Thanks

    Hi, I am trying to implement a service to download a image file. The code does nothing but upload a file to the response with each client request. There are no SOAP messages involved but I am planning to implement it as ASP.NET web service. It can also be implement as ASP.NET website but since it has no view (forms, html etc) I planned to implement a web-service. Is this a better approach? Does ASP.NET Website offer better performance that a Web-service? Which one would be better is this situation? Thanks in advance.

    I need some help with a work project I have been assigned. At the moment we manually go to the site, logon and then download 2 excel files from a supplier's website every month. The files are then loaded into SQL. We want to automate this process. Now the loading of the files into SQL I can do, but I am not sure how I can automate logging onto the website entering my user details and collecting the files. I mostly deal with SQL and have very little .NET experience, so any code samples would be most appreciated.

    I'm interested in building a web application in .NET that is scalable to multiple Clients and each and every Client has users associated with them. Suppose that my website is xyz.com and I have 3 clients "abc", "klm", "pqr" and I want to give access to features of xyz.com under the link as follows www.xyz.com/abc www.xyz.com/klm www.xyz.com/pqr and Client abc has N users and I want to set 3 roles for every client's user role. Is there any sample application in .NET that support this kind of website access per client having multiple users? And If I use ASP.NET Membership will that be a suitable membership solution or Do I need to opt for any other type of Membership defined by my own or already available in open source market for .NET. Edit: All the clients will have same functionality. I would like to build a generic model for www.xyz.com/{whatever} so that in future if a new client want to register with me he/she just have to give client name and up on adding client name all the features avaiable to exising clients will be applicable.
