  I have discovered through trial and error that the MATLAB engine function is not completely thread safe. Does anyone know the rules? Discovered through trial and error: On Windows, the connection to MATLAB is via COM, so the COM Apartment threading rules apply. All calls must occur in the same thread, but multiple connections can occur in multiple threads as long as each connection is isolated. From the answers below, it seems that this is not the case on UNIX, where calls can be made from multiple threads as long as the calls are made serially.

  Has anyone managed to use this module with success, i'm running 32bit Windows 7, where i have opened an administrator shell using run as administrator, i have imported the WebAdministration module and then attempted to use the commands with some issues, have provided two examples here Websites I created a web site with the following command new-website -name testsite -port 80 -hostheader testsite -physicalpath c:\temp Then i attempted to get the sites details using the command get-website -name testsite but it always returns all sites, seems to ignore the -name parameter. Only way i can get the site is using a filter get-website | ? { $_.name -eq 'testsite' } | get-member When i use appcmd it works as expected using the following command C:\> C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list site testsite AppPools When i try to list the apppools using the following command dir iis:\apppools i get the following error Get-ChildItem : Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Yet when i use appcmd as follows i get all the apppools as expected without any error C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list apppool Has anyone successfully managed to use the WebAdministration module ?   I copy stuff from output buffers into C++ code I'm working on in vim. Often this output gets stuck into strings. And it'd be nice to be able to escape all the control characters automatically rather than going back and hand editing the pasted fragment. As an example I might copy something like this: error in file "foo.dat" And need to put it into something like this std::string expected_error = "error in file \"foo.dat\"" I'm thinking it might be possible to apply a replace function to the body of the last paste using the start and end marks of the last paste, but I'm not sure how to make it fly.

  As suggested by (among others) Kazi Manzur Rashid in this blog post, I am using ActionFilterAttributes to transfer model state from one request to another when redirecting. However, I find myself unable to write a unit test that test the behavior of these attributes. As an example, this what I want the test for the ImportModelStateAttribute to do: Setup the filterContext so that TempData[myKey] contains some fake "exported" ModelState (that is, a ModelStateDictionary I create myself, and add one error to) Make ModelState contain one model error. Call OnActionExecuting. Verify the two dictionaries are merged, and ModelState now contains both errors. I'm at a loss already on the second step.

  Hi, i have created 3 tabs using the TabActivity. The class declaration is like this. public class ABTM extends TabActivity { ........ some code .......... } now i want to create a Menu with three menu items. but the problem is that the **@Override public boolean OnCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu){ }** gives error. It says that i should remove the @Override. When i remove the @Override the error is gone and the application runs fine but pressing the menu button does nothing. What am i doing wrong here?

  Hi, I have implemented inheritance for two parent classes called Table and Field. Each parent class has several child classes. In the Table parent class, I created a method that expects parameter List(Of Field). I get an error when trying to pass in parameter List(Of ChildField) to the method that expects a parameter of List(Of Field). The error message is as below: Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of com.hlb.icisbatch.data.ChildField)' cannot be converted to 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of com.hlb.icisbatch.data.Field)' My question, is it possible to pass in list of child class as parameter? If it is not a list then it works fine. But somehow it is not possible with lists?   I configured properties for my django project under pydev. I can run the django app under pydev or under console window. I can also run unittest for app under console window. But I have problems to run unittest under pydev. I guess it's something related to run configurations of pydev, so I made several trials, but with no success. Once I got messages like this: ImportError: Could not import settings 'D:\django_projects\MyProject' (Is it on sys.path? Does it have syntax errors?): No module named D:\django_projects\MyProject ERROR: Module: MyUnittestFile could not be imported. Another time I got messages like this: ImportError: Could not import settings 'MyProject.settngs' (Is it on sys.path? Does it have syntax errors?): No module named settngs 'ERROR: Module: MyUnittestFile could not be imported. I use pydev 1.5.6 on eclipse and windows xp. Any ideas for this problem?

  I am using the following mod-rewrite in my .htaccess file: RewriteRule ^$ pages/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ pages/$1 [L] The intention is to hide the subdirectory called /pages/ from displaying in the URL. So this: http://mysite.com/pages/home.html Will look like this: http://mysite.com/home.html It works but there are some unintended consequences. As a direct result of the .htaccess code I posted above, my 404 routing is no longer working at all. Anything that should trigger a 404 error page is instead generating a 500 Server Error. How to fix?

• Ignore errors when scanning for files in C:\

  I am trying to search the C:\ drive for all files with a certain extension. I am using the following code which is working fine, however when it encounters an error the whole process stops rather than continuing with the scan. • ASP.NET MVC project won't start under IIS 5.1 on Windows XP SP3

  I've a ASP.NET MVC 2 project that runs fine under Windows 7 and will start on Windows XP if I use the Visual Studio Development Server, however, starting under IIS generates an error: Unable to start debugging on the web server With the message The specified procedure could not be found No errors in the system event viewer. If I start without debugging I get an "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" The reason I run it under IIS is the project also includes some WCF wsHttp web services that use certificates, so the VS Development Server is not adequate for hosting those. I have already seen the links on SO that talk about adding the wildcard mapping. I've already done that, just as I've done on Windows Server 2003 where I successfully host ASP.NET MVC RC2 for quite a while.

• Bug when adding a sprite to 1 <s:State>

  I'm working within a skin for a button that has some <s:State> normal over In the tag, I'm drawing a circle private var theshape:Sprite; private function drawShape():void { theshape = new Sprite(); theshape.graphics.beginFill(0x666666); theshape.graphics.drawCircle(3,5,10); theshape.graphics.endFill(); //i then add it to a Spite Visual Element that's defined in mxml canv.addChild(theshape); } This works fine, until I try to control under which states that canv SpriteVisualElement appears. If I just add an includeIn like this <s:SpriteVisualElement id="canv" includeIn="over" /> I get a run-time error TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. Any ideas what the problem is, or a different way I can accomplish the same thing. What I need is to simply include the circle in the button when it's in the hover state.

• C1083 : Permission denied on .sbr files

  Hello, I am using Visual Studio 2005 (with SP1) and I am getting weird errors concerning .sbr files. These files, as I read on MSDN, are intermediate files for BSCMAKE to generate a .bsc file. The errors I get are, for example (on different builds) : 11string.cpp : fatal error C1083: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier généré(e) par le compilateur : '.\debug\String.sbr' : Permission denied 58type.cpp : fatal error C1083: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier généré(e) par le compilateur : '.\Debug/Type.sbr' : Permission denied Translation : cannot open compiler intermediate file It seems to be consistent (I have at least 5 or 6 examples like this) with a .cpp file being compiled twice in the same project, respectively : 11String.cpp *some warnings, 2 lines* 11String.cpp 58Type.cpp *some warnings and other files compiled, a lot of lines* 58Type.cpp I already checked the .vcproj files for duplicate entries and it does not seem to be the problem. I would appreciate any help regarding this issue. Deactivating the build of .bsc files seems to be a workaround but maybe someone has better information than this. Thanks.
