I'm my program i'm loading a fairly large MutableDictionray and I would like to use a UIProgressBar. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to determine the loading time to make this work?
Thanks
I would like to dynamically hide a button in one of my views, depending on a certain condition.
I tried adding some code to the view controller's -viewWillAppear method, to make the button hidden before displaying the actual view, but I still don't know how to do that.
I have a reference to the button through an IBOutlet, but I'm not sure how to move forward from here. For reference, this is a UIBarButtonItem instance.
Hi,
I'm using the iPhone facebook package.
How do I prepopulate the "publish to feed" example?
Also what would it take to skin the popup look?
Thanks,
Tee
I have a UITableView with a bunch of rows.
When some action occurs, I want to animate the background of a cell. I just want to make it grey and then fade it back to the default in .5 seconds. Is my only option to set the background and call [tableView beginUpdates] followed by [tableView endUpdates] and then set a timer to clear the background again, or is there some more fundamental animation technique I can use here?
I have two dates in format(MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss:SS). For the both dates I have converted the two dates to strings by using (stringFromDate) method. But I could not get the difference between them and show them in my console. Please give me an idea how I should get it?
Thank you.
In XCode - Is there a way of running just one test(one test case or preferably one test method). What I do today is to run the 'Test' task which runs all tests and takes up a lot of time.
Thanks
I'm trying to send an ActionSheet a variable from a button.
I can't use the tag property because its being used for something else.
I've declared myIndexRow as an instance variable and have:
NSInteger myIndexRow = indexPath.row;
[deleteButton addTarget:self action:@selector(showDeleteSheet:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
deleteButton.myIndexRow = myIndexRow;
but I'm getting the 'Request for member 'myRow' is something not a structure or union'
There is something obvious I am missing here.
Hi,
I have spent a few days learning and writing NSCoding and finally got it working. However, it took very long to archive and unarchive the (quite complex) object graph, which is unacceptable. After searching the internet for some time, I think the better way is to use core data.
Do you recommend that 1) I should rewrite all my classes as subclasses of NSManagedObject or 2) should I create an instance variable of NSManagedObject in each of my class so that any changes to the class also updates its core data representation? Doing either way will need significant changes to the exiting classes and I think I have to update lots of unit test cases as well if it changes the way the classes are initialized.
What do you recommend? I really don't want to head to the wrong approach again...
Thanks!
My apologies in advance for what is probably a really dumb question. I'm familiar (or at least getting familiar) with instance and class methods in objective-c, but have also seen method implementations that look like this:
#import "Utilities.h"
#import "CHAPPAppDelegate.h"
#import "AppState.h"
@implementation Utilities
CHAPPAppDelegate* GetAppDelegate() {
return (CHAPPAppDelegate *)[UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate;
}
AppState* GetAppState() {
return [GetAppDelegate() appState];
}
@end
What are these? While I'm sure this is documented somewhere, I don't know what term to use in searching for an explanation of what's being done here. I like the syntax methods like this let me use when calling them, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing, what the implications are, how to send parameters to these types of functions, etc?
To clarify how I ended up in this position, I started using these methods in a "utilities" class of mine after reading some online blog describing the author's preference for declaring these functions this way. Now I can't seem to track down a more detailed explanation of what exactly the differences are, etc.
Hi, I'm writing an iPad application that mimics a flash website I built.
The site uses Flash file uploader to upload files from the user's filesystem to my tomcat server.
I understand that an iPad application can sync files via iTunes to a Documents folder.
Given access to those files, how can I invoke a file upload of a selected file to the web.
Is it possible to focus a NSWindow by its CGWindowID? And yes, how?
I need to focus a Window of another application, but I have only its CGWindowID and I can only find sample code about retrieving the ID, but not how to focus a Window by its ID.
I have an array of arrays with objects and now want to get all objects for a certain date (which is an object property).
what's the best way to query it?
Hello everyone
I have this code below:
NSString *fileName = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"recentDownload"];
NSString *fullPath = [NSBundle pathForResource:fileName ofType:@"txt" inDirectory:[NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingString:@"/Documents/"]];
NSError *error = nil;
[textViewerDownload setText:[NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:fullPath encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]];
textviewerdownload is the textview displaying the text from the file. The actual file name is stored in an NSUserDefault called recentDownload.
When I build this, I click the button which this is under, and my application crashes.
Is there anything wrong with the syntax or just simple error?
I have a UITextView *textView in cocos2d's CCLayer. The text is scrolling in both the horizontal and vertical directions. But, I need it to scroll and bounce only in vertically.
How to stop the horizontal scrolling programmatically ?
UITextView *textView = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(100,200, windowSize.height/2,windowSize.width/2)];
textView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
textView.text = @"I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy I am First enemy";
[textView setEditable:NO];
textView.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Helvetica" size:24.0f];
CGPoint location = CGPointMake(200, 160);
textView.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = NO;
//textView.bounces = NO;
//textView.alwaysBounceVertical = YES;
textView.center = location;
textView.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(CC_DEGREES_TO_RADIANS( 90.0f ));
What should I do stop scrolling horizontally ?
Thank You.
I've got an application I've been working on. There are projects and employees, projects can have several employees, employees can work on several projects.
Right now I want selecting a project to display which employees are related to it, and allows me to add employees I select from another full-roster list. Somehow, this has proven more complicated, because (at least for now), selecting different projects still displays the same list of employees, as if all employees who'd been assigned to any project, belong to all of them.
What part of Master-Detail am I missing?
I have a UINavigationController with a UITableViewController in it. I want to show a ToolBar on the bottom with UIBarButtonItem's. The ToolBar is showing up, but the buttons won't appear. Anyone knows why?
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
[[self navigationItem] setTitle:@"Selections List"];
[[self navigationItem] setRightBarButtonItem:[[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:@selector(addProjectSearch:)] autorelease]];
[[self navigationItem] setLeftBarButtonItem:[self editButtonItem]];
[[super tableView] setDataSource: self];
[[super tableView] setDelegate: self];
//Toolbar
UIBarButtonItem * logoutButton = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Log out" style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(logOut:)]autorelease];
NSMutableArray * arr = [NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects:logoutButton, nil];
[[self navigationController] setToolbarHidden: NO animated:YES];
[[self navigationController] setToolbarItems:arr animated:YES];
}
Hello, when flip from one view to a new one, I get refreshing problem. New view contains a navigationItem with two buttons, one right, one left and when transition starts, I see buttons on opposite sides and not correctly positioned until the transition ends. Then view is showed correctly according to xib file. How to solve it??
My small game consists of a player and 10 targets.
I have an excel sheet of information of target. It includes the target speed, target accuracy, target probability of hitting of the player. These factors change from target1 to target10. Each time target should appear on screen starting from target1 to target10. How can I call them in such a way?
I have a UIView inside of a UIScrollView that I want to resize.
I can increase the height easily by :
CGRect frame = self.drawinView.frame;
frame.size.height += 100;
self.drawinView.frame = frame;
self.drawinScrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(frame.size.width, frame.size.height);
And all is good.
The above code will create a new area of the view at the bottom of the view that I can fill out.
Now when I resize the view, I only want to be repainting the new portion of the view that has just been created. I dont want to have to repaint the whole view.
However! I have run into difficulty when I need to expand the top of the view.
Doing :
CGRect frame = self.drawinView.frame;
frame.origin.y -= 100;
self.drawinView.frame = frame;
self.drawinScrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(500, 600);
does not work.
How can I do this without having to repaint the entire view?
I found some private (undocumented) APIs but Apple does not allow apps to use private frameworks. So does anyone know how to do this using Apple official packages?
like: when youtube app prompts you to the push notification: "Select a Wi-fi network"
Thanks in advance.
Hello!
I've added an observer in a custom UIView I've created under initWithFrame:.
[[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self
selector:@selector(updateZipFromLocation:)
name:@"zipFoundFromLocation"
object:nil];
The problem is, this view is a subview. When the view is loaded again, it calls the initWithFrame message again, thus adding two observers and so on. How can I remove the observer when the view is going to disappear? Since it is a UIView, it says that viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated is not a valid method. Any ideas?
I have one crash in my iPhone application that does throw an NSException. The crash reports are completely ambiguous in where the error is and what exactly is causing it. Is there a smart way for me to set a top level exception handler somewhere to see what is causing it? I can't replicate the problem myself, but a few of my beta users certainly can.
What's a smart way to handle a problem of this nature?
So I'm building a program that features the use of the IKImageBrowserView component as a subview in an NSWindow. As a side note, I have a controller object called ImageBrowserController which subclasses NSWindow and is set as the delegate of the NSWindow object of my app.
I have sent IKImageBrowserView the message setCanControlQuickLookPanel:YES to enable it to automatically use the QuickLook functionality to preview image files when the IKImageBrowserView is a first responder to receive key events. Then it took me a while to figure out how to make the IKImageBrowserView a first responder which I finally got working by overriding acceptsFirstResponder inside my ImageBrowserController.
Now I understand that as the delegate to the NSWindow, ImageBrowserController has a place in the responder chain after the event gets triggered on NSWindow. And I understand that as a subview of NSWindow, IKImageBrowserView is in line to be passed events for event handling. What I don't get is where the connection is between the ImageBrowserController being a first responder and the event somehow making it to the IKImageBrowserView. I didn't set NSWindow or IKImageBrowserView as first responders explicitly. So why isn't it necessary for me to implement event handling inside my ImageBrowserController?
EDIT: So after reading the accepted answer and going back to my code I tried removing the acceptsFirstResponder override in my ImageBrowserController and the QuickLook functionality still triggered just like the accepted answer said it would. Commenting out the setCanControlQuickLookPanel:YES made the app beep at me when I tried to invoke QuickLook functionality via the spacebar. I'm getting the feeling that my troubles were caused by user error of XCode in hitting the RUN button instead of the BUILD button after making changes to my code (sigh).
When a user gets to this screen, there is no way to cancel out of it. What can I do?
To get this view in the first place I am running:
NSMutableDictionary *params = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:
vid, @"link",
vid, @"source",
vid, @"picture",
@"My Place", @"name",
@"YouTube Presentation", @"caption",
title, @"description",
@"Enjoy this Video", @"message",
nil];
[app.facebook dialog:@"stream.publish"
andParams:params
andDelegate:self];
