• powerpoint make computer shut down on dell optiplex 760

  At my office we upgraded group of computers to windows 7 + office 2010, few of us have problem that when we work on powerpoint - once in a while the computer suddenly shut down (with out any message). Some of us - has no such problems. We checked and fount that the people who experience problems - use Dell Optiplex 760 PC, and everyone that have no problems use other models. We also found out that the processors of the 760's are not the same - some are Intel E7400 and one is Intel E8400, so I suspect that maybe the mother board is the problem Does any one no this problem? Does any one have an idea about it? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Yael

  Hello everyone, i have a cisco 6503 running IOS 12.2(33)sxi5 and i'm trying to enable netflow. Following the instructions here http://www.manageengine.com/products/netflow/help/cisco-netflow/cisco-ios-netflow.html enabling for interface vlan 3, shortly after ip flow-export version 5 console outputs: CPU_MONITOR-6-NOT_HEARD: CPU monitor messages have not been heard for 30 seconds crashlog here: http://pastebin.com/Niv2H8xD it then writes a crash log and reloads the router. • Fn + Right Arrow on MacBook Pro does not work as END Key for SuperUser web site

  Hello everyone, I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows. I have tried that Fn + Right arrow on Mac works as "END" key on Windows -- which makes cursor move to the end of line, for most application like Word for Mac -- I have tried it works. But I tried Fn + Right Arrow does not work for current question input box of SuperUser. I am wondering how to solve this issue and why?   I have been using Outlook for Mac 2011 for last 2 years. Now I want to list out all the people in my email correspondences (sent and inbox) and send them one email. Where can I find the database of everyone's email address in my Mac? The mail will have to have email addresses one after another like this: [email protected], [email protected] all in the format which is accepted in outlook and which can be emailed immediately. I need to basically tag all my email address to send them one email.

• How to separate Hyper-V Private network from the External network

  I am setting up a virtual test lab and I configured a domain controller VM running Windows 2008 R2 on my Hyper-V 2008 R2 server. I needed to download and install updates on it so I added an External NIC adapter and got that done. However, systems on my actual real physical domain were pulling IPs from this server and that was a big oopsy on my part so I immediately removed the External NIC adapter until I could find out how to go about keeping the Private and the External separate. If someone from the Server Fault community can help with this since I am pretty new to this, I would be very grateful. Thanks everyone.

• File Sharing: User-created folders are read-only to others on Mac 10.6 Server

  Hi there We recently got a new Mac Mini Server with 10.6 Server on it. It has two 500GB volumes, one of which [Macintosh HD2 the extra one other than the boot disk] we are using to share our work files. I have added a user account for each user in the Users pane on Server Preferences, and all our staff (users added to the system) are added to a new group, called toolboxstaff. Now, when a user creates a new folder on this volume, folders are created with read-only access for everyone else besides the owner. How do I set it that when a user creates a folder, it creates it with RW access for the toolboxstaff group? Thanks in advance.

• Office communicator voice chat

  My company recently mandated a switch from Skype to Office Communicator for IM / voice chat. While Skype was never the be all and end all of VOIP, it was at least usable. With Communicator, if one person is talking, everyone else is basically silent (or as good as) so a normal conversation is impossible. No one can interrupt anyone else, if two people start talking at once it's a crap shoot who gets to be heard and often the person who is inaudible doesn't know it. There do not seem to be any client side settings to fix this. Is there anything that can be done server side or is it just rubbish?

• Dual Home HP Server running Win2003

  Hello everyone. I'm new to server dual homing. I have a HP ProLiant DL360 G4p running Win2003 with 2 NICs , only one is currently active. I'd like to activate the 2nd NIC connected (in a active/passive state) to a 2nd switch with only one IP address and ideally only one mac layer address. The 1st switch is a Cisco 2960G and the 2nd is a Cisco C3560G. There are VLANS, RSTP and PAGP in use already. Can someone give me an idea, in broad terms , of what technology/protocols I should be investigating (HSRP, SLB Teaming etc.) ? I can provide more info if needed. Thanks, Colm.

  I'm posting this as a BIG CAVEAT to everyone. I know it's not a standard Q&A, but I think this is someone every Windows admin should know. There is a very real risk of falling into Big Troubles. Microsoft has recently released Windows Management Framework 3.0 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 systems, which includes some nice things native to Windows Server 2012 (like PowerShell 3.0) and lots of improvements to WMI, WinRM and other management technologies. Windows Update is advertising it as an optional update. Should I install it on my servers?

• How can I effectively block torrenting?

  My WNR1000v3 is serving six people and two of them have decided that despite my warnings they're going to torrent heavily all day. Not dealing with that crap I decided to reserve their IPs and set up port blocking 1000-65535 at all times of the day. However.... looking at the log reveals that stuff is still going through. Half of the entries are saying: [LAN access from remote] from <externalIP>:16001 to 192.168.1.7:18946 Friday, Oct 12,2012 22:47:05 and half are saying: [Service blocked: BlockTorrents] from source 192.168.1.7, Friday, Oct 12,2012 22:46:26 Is this because of uPNP? Or does the 'block services' feature Netgear has only work with outgoing connections? Is there something that I'm missing? If it is indeed uPNP, how could I effectively block their torrenting without hurting everyone's use of services like Skype, Playstation Network, etc.?

• samsung HMX-H100P camcorder and video encoding with mencoder

  Hi everyone, my background is totally not related to video stuff so pardon my newbie style. I own a samsung HMX-H100P camcorder and I'm trying to encode videos to be uploaded to Youtube and Vimeo. First problem: videos generated by the camera with no processing appear like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AANbl_DTuzE when I play them with Totem(Linux) or VideoLan. Second problem: When I try to encode the videos produced by the camera using mencoder I get the video at the resolution I chose but those ugly lines and lagging are still present. Here's the command I use: mencoder $inputFile -aspect 16:9 -of lavf -lavfopts format=psp -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts aglobal=1:vglobal=1:coder=0:vcodec=libx264:acodec=libfaac:vbitrate=4500:abitrate=128 -vf scale=1280:720 -ofps 25000/1001 -o $outputFile Any ideas? • Windows Server firewall asking for advice

  Hello everyone, I have Windows Server 2003/2008 machine, and I deployed some application on this machine. I want to put this machine in a sandbox environment, which means I want this machine to be able to access only proxy/gateway, its private used SQL Server database server, and I want to avoid network access from this machine to other machines in lab server room. Any easy solutions? BTW: my current environment is, I have a server which runs some Beta software in a Lab server room. It connects internet through proxy/gateway. I find if a user is in /etc/sudoers file, then if the user run command with sudo, the user will run this command with root privilege (without knowing root password, the user runs sudo only need to input the user's own password in order to run a command with sudo). Is that correct understanding? 2. If yes, then is it a security hole? Since users other than root could run with root privilege? thanks in advance, George

  Hi all, I have a question about using a web site host in my computer, say Computer A, using any web server hosting application e.g : apache. I connect to my website in my very same computer A, and request to download a file of size 1Mb, in otherwords, I am connecting to my own computer and want to download a file in my computer. In addition, my internet access is bound by a proxy server in a way of gateway. The questions are - does the file transfer really exist? Or is it a local file copying between 2 location? • Windows NT workstation on AD domain

  We run a Windows NT workstation connected to special manufacturing equipment, that everyone is deathly afraid to touch. It has custom software and special cards inside of the machine, making a rebuild impossible. The problem is, we are migrating to an AD domain from an NT domain, and this workstation stills needs access to storage on the network (AD computers). How should I go about doing this, after we get rid of our NT Domain controller? Upgrading to 2000 is not an option (so says management). I know, I know, if it dies we are in trouble. But that's managements choice, we just need to get rid of this NT domain.

• How to share media stored in an attached drive using Windows Media Player?

  We've got a Windows 7 PC with a Windows Media Player music library that includes both files on the internal hard drive and files on a USB-attached hard drive. When we browse this library from another Windows Media Player (on another Windows 7 machine) we see only the files residing on the library host's internal drive. The files residing on the attached drive don't show up at all, yet on the host they appear undistinguished within the library. Is there a configuration change we can make to cause the attached files to be shared properly? We've turned on read-sharing for "Everyone" on the USB drive, but that hasn't helped. Also it might be worth noting that this issue behaves the same way for us if the client machine is a Playstation 3.

• Setting user calendar permissions on Exchange 2007

  We have Exchange 2007 with about 100 users. I would like to change everyone's free/busy permissions to grant Reviewer status to a specific AD group. I have tried PFDAVAdmin tool but when I commit any changes, they do not affect the users. If I grant myself Reviewer permissions to another user's calendar using the tool, I still cannot view that user's free/busy details, and I also don't show up on the list of people with permissions on that user's Outlook calendar options. It seems like PFDAVAdmin simply appears to do something, but doesn't actually change anything. Is there any other way for me to accomplish what I need to do? Or is there something I may not be doing right with PFDAVAdmin?   Hello everyone, I am using Virtual PC 2007 on Windows Vista Enterprise x86. My confusion is about the network setting for guest OS. In the network setting, I can set the network adaptor of guest OS to one of my physical network adaptors of my host OS (I have tested that it works for guest OS to use the physical network adaptor of host OS to access external network). But in this way, 1. since both host OS and guest OS will use the same physical network adaptor, will there be any conflicts (e.g. same H/W serves two OS)? 2. will guest OS share a part of network bandwidth of the host OS of the physical network adaptor? 3. • Can I set up a 'Deny from x' that overrides other confs for debugging?

  I'm currently working on developing/deploying a Django application on Apache and am often fiddling with the debug settings which alter how Django accepts connections, ignoring or using ALLOWED_HOSTS. If DEBUG is False, it uses them, which is handy to keep up some walls around my construction site. However, the useful info it spits out when True is quite nice. I'm currently just using an SSH tunnel and just allowing localhost when DEBUG is False, but how can I keep everyone out without relying on the aforementioned ALLOWED_HOSTS? Editing the httpd.conf file which is in source control is a bit irritating; I've accidentally committed a few botched configs.

• Windows 7 : Any way to disable "show caracter" in WIFI network properties?!

  Hi everyone, Here's my issue. I'm working in a school as IT Tech and I'm currently planning to roll out Windows 7 on students laptop. The issue is : When you go to the properties of a WIFI network, you have the fields to input the WIFI key, WPA2 key here in my case, and you also have a checkbox that allow you to "unmask" the caracters of the wifi key. This is actually the problem. Anyone who can access the WIFI network properties, will be able to see the WIFI key, which is really an issue in a school envrironnement where student are all eager to get the key for their precious IPod Touch, what I don't want to happen for obvious reasons... So, is there a way to disable that checkbox or else, make the field cleared out when the checkbox is checked, just like it was on Windows XP or Vista? Thanks all for your answer.

  Hello everyone I have a SD memory card which is of local manufacturer it allows to read & copy from it but not write as it is now write-protected so i want to format that card but could not. To format this card I have tried 1) DD command 2) mkfs -f vfat command 3) creating registry entry under storage device policy in window with write value 0 4) disk part command in window to clear attributes in which it show all attributes are clear ie no write protection 5) I format card in windows through control panel - administrative tools- computer management - disk management, then it show as formatted but when I tried to create new partition it give CYCLIC REDUNDANCY CHECK error 6) I downloaded a format utility from transcend site and formatted first it shows write protected again doing format it formats and tells to remove and reinsert after reinsertion it shows the previous data as it is

• Config xampp never to cache pages from localhost

  Hello everyone: I am not a webmaster, and that was exactly the reason why I installed XAMPP 1.7.2 on Windows XP SP2 instead of manually configuring Apache, MySQL and PHP to cooperate each other. Now I am having to problem to disable caching pages from localhost. Some suggested just force the browser not to cache, using Firefox web developer bar or something similar; but I feel it would be better if I could configure the Apache server in XAMPP to never allow pages from localhost to be cached. I guess this is done somewhere in httpd.conf? LoadModule cache_module modules/mod_cache.so Would this module be helpful in this case? Doc here : mod_cache I am not very sure this would resolve the problem. Could anyone confirm this approach feasible? I'd like to work it out myself, given the fact that I am on the right track... • for what reason live USB linux images are not 100% persistent?

  I understand that during CD-R times non-persistence had a purpose, but what's the purpose now that pretty much everyone uses USB flash drivers? not to mention USB3 sticks are pretty much 4x faster than my HD raid. I'm writing this while taking a break going over the linux from scratch guide... And i'm still baffled that this is not the norm already with all live images. So, Is there any reason (besides historical) that i'm missing and that will bite me after I finish this ext3-rw image?

• Alternative, more efficient scraping method for a noncoder, than Google doc's importxml and xpath?

  I've searched throughout the net for a simple solution, but it seems everyone has their own unique method (coding language) of achieving this. I'm only just beginning to learn Linux, and my coding skills are thoroughly lacking (non-existent). I love the simplicity of using importxml and xpath, but copying and pasting values after reaching the spreadsheet limit of 50 is getting old. Now that I've seen the light, I would really just like to know of a simple, yet scalable solution to get more data into more spreadsheets/databases. Before I really start getting my hands dirty, I would love to know some of the ways you guys go about accomplishing this?
