• How did My Object Get into ASP.NET Page State?

  I know what this error is, how to fix it, etc. My question is that I don't know why my current page I am developing is throwing this error when I am not using the foo class directly in any way, nor am I setting anything to the viewstate. I am using postbacks alot, but like I said, I am not storing anything in the viewstate etc one integer. I am using nhibernate if that is relevant. Any idea why I need to mark this classes as serializable that arent being used? Where should I start investigating? • Changing the title of jQuery-UI dialog-box with in another dialog-box's function...

  Why doesn't doesn't the second jQuery-UI dialog box title change when popped. The first dialog box I change the title of the box with using the following .attr("title", "Confirm") -- it change the title of the first box to 'Confirm', like it should have. Now when the second box pops up it should change the title to 'Message' since did the same thing for the second box -- .attr("title", "Message"). Right? But it doesnt. It keep the title from before.   Any easy way to read all the columns in Matlab? my format is date time y1 y2 y3 y4 ......................... 4/27/2010 00:3:09 34 45 45 56 ................ so on currently i am reading these with the code [c,pathc]=uigetfile({'*.txt'},'Select the data','C:\Data'); file=[pathc c]; data= dlmread(file, ',', 1,3); so needless to say i am skipping the time stamps. Was wondering if there is aeasy way to read the time stamps and plot my other colums agianst the time in hours. my files are 43200 X 30 and some are 86400 X 90 Related question : is the format same for .csv and .xls files , i mean except ofcourse xlsread

  i would like to convert the touch location as a world coordinate in my tile game. Could someone point me in the right direction or show me what I'm doing wrong here? Am I using a model for the wrong thing?

  I am having trouble deleting orphan nodes using JPA with the following mapping @OneToMany (cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.EAGER, mappedBy = "owner") private List<Bikes> bikes; I am having the issue of the orphaned roles hanging around the database. I can use the @org.hibernate.annotations.Cascade Hibernate specific tag but obviously I don't want to tie my solution into a hibernate implementation. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

• Visual Studio (2005 & 2008) Compile Completed Alert?

  Does anyone know of any kind of plugin or alert system which will let me know when my compiles are completed? Some of the solutions I work with are gigantic and sometimes the compiles can take 5-20 minutes (depending on the PC). Thus I would like to do something else in the meantime, but I don't want to keep checking back to see if the compile is done. Is there any way to have a windows alert, or flash the screen when the compile is done? It would let me browse the internet whilst waiting for the compile to finish without worrying that its been complete and I'm just wasting time.

• Good File Organization Suggestions for Developer

  I am struggling a little with folder organization to organize the many projects that I work on. I work on OS X - right now I am using ~/Development/ as the root folder, and I have many types of projects. For example, I have my iPhone apps under ~/Development/Xcode I develop in many languages, from PHP, to Ruby, to Python, to Objective-C. So, for example, I might have a couple of open-source apps based on PHP where I am using the Zend framework. Some of these projects are for clients, others are tests/experiments when learning a new language or general experimenting. I am really interested in how other developers have organized code/projects and could pass along some advice to make it very easy to navigate through code/projects related to many languages and types of projects.

• SQL Server 2005 I get "The database is not accessible"

  I have a computer working as a server with many SQL Server 2005 databases in it since two years ago. Today, I don't know why, when I try to connect locally to any of the databases it gives me that error. It fails even if I'm logged in using Windows Authentication or as 'sa' user. It just wouldn't let me access the databases' info. Could anybody explain me what's going on?

  I work in a shop that is a mix of mostly Java and .NET technologists. When discussing new solutions and architectures we often encounter impedance in trying to compare the various technologies, frameworks, APIs etc. in use between the two camps. It seems that each camp knows little about the other and we end up comparing apples to oranges and forgetting about the bushels. While researching the topic I found this: Java -- .Net rough equivalents It's a nice list but it's not quite exhaustive and is missing the key .NET 3.0 technologies and a few other tidbits. To complete that list: what are the near/rough equivalents (or a combination of technologies) in Java to the following in .NET? WCF WPF Silverlight = JavaFx WF = jBMP (Java Business Process Management) Generics Lambda expressions = lambdaJ project or Closures Linq (not Linq-to-SQL) ...have i missed anything else? Note that I omitted technologies that are already covered in the linked article. I would also like to hear feedback on whether the linked article is accurate. Thanks. (Will CW if requested.)

• Android Java writing text file to sd card

  I have a strange problem I've come across. My app can write a simple textfile to SD card and sometimes it works for some people but not for others and I have no idea why. Some people it force closes if they put some characters like "..." in it and such. I cannot seem to reproduce it as I've had no troubles but this is the code that handles it. • Relatively simple task: How do I pass back the selected item from one activity to another?

  I have two activities: one displays an image and a button, the other displays a photo gallery. • How do you use glFrustrum in OpenGL ES1 on iPhone

  So I am using Xcode 3.2.1 and am trying to make an iPhone OpenGL ES1 project. The default template for an opengl project is ok, but I have been trying to split the code up so not everything is done per frame on the drawView() call. I have a seperate setupRC method that sets the lighting, turns on depth test, turns on culling and sets the clear color. This is called on the init of the EAGLView and this works just fine. I have took the glViewport() and glFrustrum() calls and put them at the end of the resizeFromLayer() method in the ES1Renderer.m file. This gets hit when the app starts and when the app gets resized as it should. Now the problem is the frustrum's far seems to be messed up, as in all my objects get cut / clipped off. I tried adjusting the camera position and angle and it still all objects are cut / clipped. I increased the far from 1000.0f to 30000.0f and still get the same result. What is crazy is that if i call both the glViewport() and glFrustrum() calls in the drawView() every frame everything looks right. Nothing is clipped and looks like i want it. From everything I've been reading the frustrum and viewport calls only need to be called when the window / gets made and resizes, but If I don't call it every frame in my project it doesn't work. • Glassfish complaining about JSF component IDs

  Hello All I am very new to JSF (v2.0) and I am attempting to learn it at places like netbeans.org and coreservlets.com. I am working on a very simple "add/subtract/multiply/divide" Java webapp and I have run into a problem. When I first started out, the application was enter two numbers and hit a '+' key and they would be automatically added together. Now that I have added more complexity I am having trouble getting the operation to the managed bean. This is what I had when it was just "add": <h:inputText styleClass="display" id="number01" size="4" maxlength="3" value="#{Calculator.number01}" /> <h:inputText styleClass="display" id="number02" size="4" maxlength="3" value="#{Calculator.number02}" /> <h:commandButton id="add" action="answer" value="+" /> For the "answer" page, I display the answer like this: <h:outputText value="#{Calculator.answer}" /> I had the proper getters and setters in the Calculator.java managed bean and the operation worked perfectly. Now I have added the other three operations and I am having trouble visualizing how to get the operation parameter to the bean so that I can switch around it. I tried this: <h:commandButton id="operation" action="answer" value="+" /> <h:commandButton id="operation" action="answer" value="-" /> <h:commandButton id="operation" action="answer" value="*" /> <h:commandButton id="operation" action="answer" value="/" /> However, Glassfish complained that I have already used "operation" once and I am trying to use it four times here. Any adivce/tips on how to get multiple operations to the managed bean so that it can preform the desired operation? Thank you for taking the time to read.

• SQL Server 2008 - Query takes forever to finish even though work is actually done

  Running the following simple query in SSMS: UPDATE tblEntityAddress SET strPostCode= REPLACE(strPostCode,' ','') The update to the data (at least in memory) is complete in under a minute. I verified this by performing another query with transaction isolation level read uncommitted. The update query, however, continues to run for another 30 minutes. What is the issue here? Is this caused by a delay to write to disk? TIA

• Static libraries in version-cross-compiled program

  I have a unix command line app (with big nasty makefile) that I'm trying to run on a mac. I am compiling it on a 10.6 system, with all of the appropriate libraries of course. The deployment environment is a 10.5 system, with no extra libraries. I compiled without -dynamic, and it appears to have static libraries, correctly. When I run it on the 10.6 system, it works. However, when I run it on the 10.5 system, I get: dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 I got this same error when I compiled things for the 10.6 system using the 10.5 xcode, so it looks like a version mis-match type problem. However, I used gcc-4.0, and $CFLAGS = -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk -mmacosx-version-min=10.5 so it SHOULD be set up for 10.5... any ideas? thanks Editing an ancient question: I have the exact same problem on a different computer. This time I am at 10.5.8, fully update, the same executable works on 10.6 still. Has anyone had any luck with this in the months since I asked this?

• Drupal rendering incomplete views

  I got tapped to do some quick maintenance on a recently migrated Drupal site. I'm pretty new to Drupal, so hopefully the problem is something that more experienced guys will figure out quick. Behavior is as follows. The public content works fine as far as I can tell. When I go to login, the login form renders correctly, but when I post the form w/ my credentials, I get back a blank page (not a 404; looks like a 200 to the /user URL, but all the gets rendered is empty Head and body tags). If i refresh the page, I get the content of my profile view, but none of the site chrome or CSS. Note that this is not an issue on the site it was migrated from, so it seems like something wasn't copied over correctly. The site's not public, so I can't provide a URL, sorry!

• Why is passing a string literal into a char* argument only sometimes a compiler error?

  I'm working in a C, and C++ program. We used to be compiling without the make-strings-writable option. But that was getting a bunch of warnings, so I turned it off. Then I got a whole bunch of errors of the form "Cannot convert const char* to char* in argmuent 3 of function foo". So, I went through and made a whole lot of changes to fix those. However, today, the program CRASHED because the literal "" was getting passed into a function that was expecting a char*, and was setting the 0th character to 0. It wasn't doing anything bad, just trying to edit a constant, and crashing. My question is, why wasn't that a compiler error? In case it matters, this was on a mac compiled with gcc-4.0.
