  • Unbalanced calls to begin/end appearance transitions for <ViewController>,<Tab>

    - by onkar
I am trying to implement Tabs into my secondView. On button touch(from ViewController.m) I am navigating to secondView(Tabs). In my Tabs.xib file I have added a TabBar at bottom and it is custom class of UITabBar. Hi, I am trying get float value with UITextField. On the simulator V3.1.3 in English, I have to use '.' to separate my float values. But on my Iphone 3GS V3.1.3 in French, I have to use ',' to separate them. • How do you make a UIBarButtonItem animation flip?

    - by Andrew Arrow
In the iPod app on the iPhone there is a UIBarButtonItem in the upper right toolbar that flips between the song and track listings for the album. When you select the button, the button itself does a flip animation. Is there a way to do this with: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:context]; [UIView setAnimationTransition: UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:[self superview] cache:YES]; Do I need to make a UIBarButtonItem with initWithCustomView vs. initWithImage to achieve this?

  • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS (OBJ-C/iPhone)

    - by Michael Bordelon
I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. • Core Data 1-to-many relationship: List all related objects as section header in UITableView

    - by Snej
Hi: I struggle with Core Data on the iPhone about the following: I have a 1-to-many relationship in Core Data. Assume the entities are called recipe and category. A category can have many recipes. I accomplished to get all recipes listed in a UITableView with section headers named after the category. What i want to achieve is to list all categories as section header, even those which have no recipe: category1 <--- this one should be displayed too category2 recipe_x recipe_y category3 recipe_z NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Recipe" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; [fetchRequest setFetchBatchSize:10]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor1 = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"category.categoryName" ascending:YES]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor2 = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"recipeName" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor1,sortDescriptor2, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:@"category.categoryName" cacheName:@"Recipes"]; What is the most elegant way to achieve this with core data?

  • Unselected UIPickerView value

    - by morticae
According to the documentation, if a UIPickerView has no selected value, the expected return from selectedRowInComponent: should be: "A zero-indexed number identifying the selected row, or -1 if no row is selected." However, if I check the value the very line after initializing one, its value is 0. Even if I then manually set it to -1, it still returns 0. I would like to be able to detect whether the user has chosen a value yet or not, without recording it in a local variable. Is this possible? example: UIPickerView *picker = [[UIPickerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 46.0, 320.0, 216.0)]; [picker selectRow:-1 inComponent:0 animated:NO]; NSLog(@"SELECTED %d", [picker selectedRowInComponent:0]); expected output: SELECTED -1 actual output: SELECTED 0

  • Get text of button from IBAction - iPhone

    - by Organiccat
    When an IBAction is called: -(IBAction) onClick1: (id) sender; What is passed in the sender? Since it's hooked up through the IB, I'm not really sure. My question is how to get the text of the button to be the passed object (NSString most likely) so that I could call it inside the action implementation. -(IBAction) onClick1: (id) sender { NSLog(@"User clicked %@", sender); // Do something here with the variable 'sender' }

  • MKReverseGeocoder delegate location?

    - by fuzzygoat
I have a quick question regarding memory management that I am not quite sure about. I currently have a locationManager delegate that calls locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation when it resolves the device location. My question is I am looking at adding ReverseGeoCoding after I have obtained the [newLocation coordinate] but am unsure about doing the alloc here, as each time locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation gets called I will be alloc-ing a new MKReverseGeoCoder? // LOCATION -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { // GeoCoding: MKReverseGeocoder *geoCoder = [[MKReverseGeocoder alloc] initWithCoordinate:[newLocation coordinate]]; [geoCoder setDelegate:self]; [geoCoder start]; [self foundLocation]; } Can anyone point me in the right direction with regards to this? I did try doing the alloc in application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions: but then realised I did not have access to [newLocation coordinate]. many thanks gary

  • Need multiple views to respond to a touch event in an iPhone app

    - by Joel
Setup: I have two views that I need to respond to the touch event, and they are layered out on top of one another. View 1 is on top of View 2. View 2 is a UIWebView. View 1 is sublclassed to capture the touch event. My problem is that if I try to call the UIWebView event handlers (touchesBegan: and touchesEnded:) from within the event handlers of View 1, which is the first responder, nothing happens. However if I set View 1 to userInteractionEnabled = NO, then the touch goes through that view and is processed properly by the 2nd view. Any ideas on how I can have 2 views respond to a touch event? Unfortunately the 2nd view is a UIWebView, so I need to actually call the event handler and not a different method, etc... Thanks in advance for any advice, Joel

  • Using Mapkit to create a local searchable Map

    - by Digital D
Using MapKit as a base, I'm planning on adding a map to a project with 'local search' capabilities. I think 'local search' describes the feature I want to design into the map. Here is my vision. The map is displayed on the bottom half of a view. The user's current location is highlighted by default. When the user pushes the 'search' button annotation pins drop onto the map. The search is programmatically fixed to a certain item....for example supermarkets. So supermarkets in a 5 mile radius of the user's current location will populate the map. How would I add this local search feature to the already amazing MapKit? I've learned an incredible amount as a new developer in the last few months, and look forward to learning googles...correction googols more. Thanks in anticipation.

  • UITableview has problem reloading

    - by seelani
Hi guys, I've kinda finished my application for a school project but have run into a major "bug". It's a account management application. I'm unable to insert a picture here so here's a link: http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/seelani/Screenshot2010-12-22atPM075512.png Here's the problem when i click on the plus sign, i push a nav controller to load another view to handle the adding and deleting of categories. When i add and return back to the view above, it doesn't update. It only updates after i hit the button on the right which is another view used to change some settings, and return back to the page. I did some research on viewWillAppear and such but I'm still confused to why it doesn't work properly. This problem is also affecting my program when i delete a category, and return back to this view it crashes cos the view has not reloaded successfully. I will get this error when deleting and returning to the view. • How to parse HTML with TouchXML or some other alternative.

    - by 0SX
Hi, I'm trying to parse the HTML presented below with TouchXML but it keeps crashing when I try to extract certain attributes. I'm totally new to the parser world so I apologize for being a complete idiot. I need help to parse this HTML. What I'm trying to accomplish is to parse each attribute and value or what not and copy them to a string. I've been trying to find a good parser to parse HTML and I believe TouchXML is the best I've seen because of Tidy. Speaking of Tidy, How could I run this HTML through Tidy first then parse it? I'm not sure how to do this. Here is the code that I have so far that doesn't work due to it's not pulling everything I need from the HTML. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks My current code: NSMutableArray *res = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // using local resource file NSString *XMLPath = [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"example.html"]; NSData *XMLData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:XMLPath]; CXMLDocument *doc = [[[CXMLDocument alloc] initWithData:XMLData options:0 error:nil] autorelease]; NSArray *nodes = NULL; nodes = [doc nodesForXPath:@"//div" error:nil]; for (CXMLElement *node in nodes) { NSMutableDictionary *item = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [item setObject:[[node attributeForName:@"id"] stringValue] forKey:@"id"]; [res addObject:item]; [item release]; } NSLog(@"%@", res); [res release]; HTML file that needs to be parsed: <html> <head> <base target="_blank" /> </head> <body style="margin:2;"> <div id="group"> <div id="groupURL"><a href="http://www.example.com/groups">Group URL</a></div> <img id="grouplogo" src="http://images.example.com/groups/image.png" /> <div id="groupcomputer"><a href="http://www.example.com/groups/page" title="Group Title">Group title this would be here</a></div> <div id="groupinfos"> <div id="groupinfo-l">Person</div><div id="groupinfo-r">Ralph</div> <div id="groupinfo-l">Years</div><div id="groupinfo-r">4 years</div> <div id="groupinfo-l">Salary</div><div id="groupinfo-r">100K</div> <div id="groupinfo-l">Other</div><div id="groupoth" style="width:15px">other info</div> </body> </html> EDIT: I could use Element Parser but I need to know how to extract the Person's Name from the following example which would be Ralph in this case. <div id="groupinfo-l">Person</div><div id="groupinfo-r">Ralph</div>

  • Single-Stage vs Two-Stage Animation for iPhone Apps?

    - by Devoted
What are single-state and two-stage animation for rotating an iPhone window? This is the "error" message I get in the Debugger Console (nothing crashes): Using two-stage rotation animation. To use the smoother single-stage animation, this application must remove two-stage method implementations. I was working through the book "Beginning iPhone Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK" by Apress (Dave Mark, Jeff LaMarche) on the Swap Project.

  • Opening popup links in UIWebView, possible?

    - by Jasarien
Hey guys, I have a UIWebView which I'm using as an embedded browser within my app. I've noticed that links in webpages that open new windows are ignored without any call into my code. I've tried breakpointing on - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType and then selecting a link that would open a popup window, and the breakpoint is never hit. Is there anything I can do to intercept that selection of the popup link and get the URL and just load it normally? I'm not interested in displaying a popup window in the app itself, I just want the URL of whatever is going to be loaded in the popup window to load in the main webview itself. Is this possible? Thanks!

  • Accessing 2D array and passing string to label.text

    - by Amir
Hi. I'm trying to create 2D array and initialize it with NSStrings. When I try to copy content of a cell from the array to a label.text, the application crashes. NSMutableArray *array = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:0]; [array addObject:[NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects: [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"0-0", @"0-1", @"0-2", nil], [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"1-0", @"1-1", @"1-2", nil], [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"2-0", @"2-1", @"2-2", nil], nil]]; label.text = [[array objectAtIndex:0] objectAtIndex:0]; Any idea why and what am I doing wrong?

  • Problem with Core Data - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by BarrettJ
    I'm using the following code and I'm getting an EXC_BAD_ACCESS when trying to get the count of objects - anyone have any idea why? Oddly enough, the error only happens if the count should be one or greater, if there are no objects it seems to work fine (it outputs null). NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"TVShow" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; [fetchRequest includesPendingChanges]; //NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"ID == %@", showId]; //[fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; NSError *error; NSLog(@"Generating Count"); NSUInteger count = [[self managedObjectContext] countForFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; if(count == NSNotFound) { NSLog(@"error"); } else { NSLog(@"%@", count); // EXC_BAD_ACCESS here } [fetchRequest release];

  • iPad UIColor Saturation Issues

    - by Carter Allen
I am trying to draw a UIColor on the screen of a view-based app, and I am trying to do so using HSB. It is absolutely necessary for me to use HSB in this case. I can create a UIColor object with any S value from 0.0f to 0.75f, but past that the numerical changes have no effect on the actual saturation displayed. I need it to be 1.0f, but it is still using 0.75f. Any ideas on why it is doing that, and how I can make it work?

  • TableView frame not resizing properly when pushing a new view controller and the keyboard is hiding

    - by Pete
Hi, I must be missing something fundamental here. I have a UITableView inside of a NavigationViewController. When a table row is selected in the UITableView (using tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath:) I call pushViewController to display a different view controller. The new view controller appears correctly, but when I pop that view controller and return the UITableView is resized as if the keyboard was being displayed. I need to find a way to have the keyboard hide before I push the view controller so that the frame is restored correctly. If I comment out the code to push the view controller then the keyboard hides correctly and the frame resizes correctly. The code I use to show the keyboard is as follows: - (void) keyboardDidShowNotification:(NSNotification *)inNotification { NSLog(@"Keyboard Show"); if (keyboardVisible) return; // We now resize the view accordingly to accomodate the keyboard being visible keyboardVisible = YES; CGRect bounds = [[[inNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameBeginUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; bounds = [self.view convertRect:bounds fromView:nil]; CGRect tableFrame = tableViewNewEntry.frame; tableFrame.size.height -= bounds.size.height; // subtract the keyboard height if (self.tabBarController != nil) { tableFrame.size.height += 48; // add the tab bar height } [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(shrinkDidEnd:finished:contextInfo:)]; tableViewNewEntry.frame = tableFrame; [UIView commitAnimations]; } The keyboard is hidden using: - (void) keyboardWillHideNotification:(NSNotification *)inNotification { if (!keyboardVisible) return; NSLog(@"Keyboard Hide"); keyboardVisible = FALSE; CGRect bounds = [[[inNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameBeginUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; bounds = [self.view convertRect:bounds fromView:nil]; CGRect tableFrame = tableViewNewEntry.frame; tableFrame.size.height += bounds.size.height; // add the keyboard height if (self.tabBarController != nil) { tableFrame.size.height -= 48; // subtract the tab bar height } tableViewNewEntry.frame = tableFrame; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(_shrinkDidEnd:finished:contextInfo:)]; tableViewNewEntry.frame = tableFrame; [UIView commitAnimations]; [tableViewNewEntry scrollToNearestSelectedRowAtScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionMiddle animated:YES]; NSLog(@"Keyboard Hide Finished"); } I trigger the keyboard being hidden by resigning first responser for any control that is the first responder in ViewWillDisappear. I have added NSLog statements and see things happening in the log file as follows: Show Keyboard ViewWillDisappear: Hiding Keyboard Hide Keyboard Keyboard Hide Finished PushViewController (an NSLog entry at the point I push the new view controller) From this trace, I can see things happening in the right order, but It seems like when the view controller is pushed that the keyboard hide code does not execute properly. Any ideas would be really appreciated. I have been banging my head against the keyboard for a while trying to find out what I am doing wrong.

  • How to include other controls in a scrollbar?

    - by Paperflyer
I want to create a scrollview with a zooming control and a button next to the scrollbar. Sort of like the "tile window" button in XCode (top right corner of the editor), it should be in the same box that usually is used by the scrollbar only. Do you have an idea of how to approach this? I was thinking to use an NSScrollView and set the scrollbars to a custom subclass of NSScroller which includes the other widgets. What kinds of buttons use the same style as the scrollbar?

  • How no make a button show UINavigationBar only in 3 of 5 tabs in UITabBar?

    - by Mike Rychev
I have an app, where there's a UITabBar with 5 tabs. When user shakes the device, I want the UINavigationBar to push an UIImageView. When I show the UIImageView, I need to hide both tab and nav bars. After that, when user taps the UIImageView, the NavBar appears again and user can go to the UIImageView's parent view. I make the Nav Bar appear like this: [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; But in two tabs I have to make the Nav Bar appear, so user can switch to UIImageView's parentView and then, when the parent view appears, hide the nav bar. How can I do it?
