    Hiya, I'm trying to generate Outlook event files for my events, doing so on the fly as and when someone requests it by pressing a link on the page. Here's what i've got so far, but I can't find out how to get the browser to download the content which is returned. I know how I could do this if I sent everything via _GET, but I'd prefer to do it via _POST, hence I'm going down this route.. Any thoughts? Thanks!   • Upgrade Office 2003 to 2010 on XP or Run them Side by Side

    If you’re still running XP, currently have Office 2003 installed on your machine, and skipped Office 2007, you might want to upgrade to Office 2010. In this guide we will show you the upgrade process or how to run them side by side. In this example we are upgrading from Office 2003 Standard to Office Professional Plus 2010 RTM (Final) on XP Professional. System Requirements To run Office 2010 on your XP machine you have to make sure you have Service Pack 3 and Microsoft Silverlight installed (links below). Or you can just install them through Windows Update. Recommended Hardware 1GHZ CPU or higher 512 MB of RAM or higher 1024×768 Resolution or higher DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card with 64 MB of memory or higher Installing Office 2010 Simply kick off the Office Professional Plus 2010 installation. Enter in your product key… Agree to the EULA…   Select the Customize button… Setup will detect Office 2003 and allow you to remove all applications, keep them, or select only the ones you want to keep. In this example we’re going to remove Excel and PowerPoint, and keep Outlook and Word 2003. Next, click the Installation Options tab and select Office programs you want to install. Since we’re keeping Outlook 2003 and don’t want to use Outlook 2010, we’re making sure not to install Outlook 2010. However, we want to run Word 2003 and 2010 on the same machine. After you’ve made your selections click the Upgrade button. The installation begins and you’re shown the progress. The amount of time it takes to install will vary between systems. Installation is complete and you can close out of the installer. Now when you go into the Start menu under Microsoft Office, you’ll see both versions of the Office apps available. Here is a shot of Word 2003 and 2010 running together on our XP machine.   Conclusion If you’re moving from Office 2003 to 2010, this allows you to install both versions side by side. It gives you a chance to learn 2010 features, and still work in the familiar 2003 environment when you need to get things done quickly.   • Add Social Elements to Your Gmail Contacts with Rapportive

    Would you like to discover more about your contacts?  Xobni is a great tool for this in Outlook, and thanks to a small plugin for Gmail, you can get similar functionality right from your favorite webmail app. Setup Rapportive on Your Gmail Browse to the Rapportive site (link below), and click install to add it to your browser.  Rapportive currently only supports Firefox and Google Chrome.  In this test, we installed it on Google Chrome.  Notice that Chrome warns Rapportive may access your private data from Gmail, though Rapportive says that they only use this data securely on your computer or their servers. Next time you log into Gmail, open a message to see the new Rapportive sidebar.  Click Log in to get started. Choose if you want to let Rapportive to access your data. Finally, choose whether to stay logged into Rapportive or to log out when you log out of Gmail.   Using Rapportive Now, when you open an email, you should see more information about your contact on the right side of the message where you usually see Google AdSense ads. You may see an avatar, short bio, and links to their social networks.  You can add notes about a contact also, which lets you use Rapportive as a CRM. You may see more information on some contacts.  Here we see a contact that shows recent Tweets and links to several social networks. Take Rapportive Further You can add more features to Rapportive with Raplets, which are small extensions that add more information or CRM functionality.  To add these, click the Rapportive button on the top of Gmail, and select Add Raplets to Rapportive. Find a Raplet you want, and click Add This. A popup will open to give you more information about the Raplet; click the Add button at the bottom if you still want it. And, if you’re wish to close Rapportive without logging out of Gmail, click the Rapportive link in Gmail and select Log out. Conclusion Whether you want to find out more about your contacts or keep track of notes about them, Rapportive is a great way to do this from Gmail.  With tools like this, Gmail gets a bit more powerful and feels more like a desktop application.     So I want to add an iCal file to a web page, so that people can add an event to their calendars. But when I view the event in my calendar (Outlook 2007) I want to see everyone who will be attending. How can I do that? I just started experimenting with this, I used Outlook's Save As to create an iCal file for a single event. That works, I can link to that file and other people can add the event to their calendars. But it doesn't tell me who has added it.   • How to change type of information for a Title column in SharePoint MOSS 2007 List?

    I created a calendar in SharePoint MOSS 2007 that is connected to my Outlook. I added a custom column “Person” to this list and the type of information in this column is: Person or Group. In SharePoint I can hide Title column and in Calendar View show this Person field as Month View Title. So I can see on the calendar who is working that day. Problem is in Outlook. It seems like Outlook doesn’t know a thing about custom fields. In Outlook I can see only Title and few other fields. I could rename Title field to Person, but I can’t change type of information that it contains. By default it is text field and no way to change it to Person or Group. If I could change those “default” column types, then I think my problem would be solved. I know it is possible. I created a custom list, but this list has also those “sticky” Title, Created By and Modified By columns that can’t be changed or removed. Maybe I have to create a custom list with some other program or code? Please help! Thanks in advance!

    Hello, sometimes I want to send newsletters to my customers. The problem is, that some of the emails get caught as spam messages. Mostly by Outlook at the client (even in my own Outlook 2007).     After a TimeMachine restore; Office 2011 is having kittens over permissions it would seem. Having attempted a 'repair' out of Disk Utility, am still seeing: there is a problem with the Office database upon startup, after which Word/Excel work without issues. Outlook on the other hand won't even start. Given the obvious message here "You do not have write access to the Outlook application folder" – where is the DB located to check?

  • Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6001/6004 (Exchange Information Store) on server on Exchange2010

    I have Exchange 2010 in hosting setup like: TMG 2010 as load balancer Exchange 2010 x 2 (CAS,MAILBOX,HUB on each server) AD1, AD2 machines File witness All people currently connect thru OWA or POP3/SMTP and that works fine. The problem is autodiscovery doesn't work and RPC in terms of setting up Outlook doesn't work too. It doesn't work if I am connected with VPN or not. The thing is it used to work. Before reinstall of my machine 2 days ago I was able to get mails successfully thru Outlook that was set up using autodiscovery (but I was getting reports setting up of new clients wasn't working - so not sure why my outlook continued to work). I used https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com to track it down and basically the message is more or less this: Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6004 (NSPI Proxy Interface) on server autodiscover.domain.pl. The attempt to ping the endpoint failed. Additional Details The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.     We have exchange running on one of our server here and there are 2 users connecting via outlook. The company has a generic Info@ email account and all users need to see this. I know I cant add a second exchange account to outlook so what are my options? Every user needs to see whats not been read whats been responded to etc. Thanks

  • Is there a way to "redirect" a click on a URL in a VirtualBox guest to open in the host OS browser?

    I'm using VirtualBox OSE on Ubuntu 10.04. I have a Windows 7 guest VM which I use almost exclusively for MS Outlook to access my Exchange mailbox. If I click a URL in Outlook it obviously opens in IE in the guest VM, is there any way to have it perform a redirect of some sort? If I click a URL inside the VM, I want it to load in my default browser in the Ubuntu host.

  • Exchange 2003 calendar's "far" future is blank when scheduling

    If a user tries to schedule a meeting in the "far" future, where ""far" future" seems to mean "seven or more weeks into the future", no existing meetings show up, and resources (at least) frequently (if not always) show up with the white-with-black-hatching "No Information" indicator in the meeting creation window, but shows up fine if you look at the actual calendar from the main Outlook window. Is this expected behavior? If so, is there any way to extend how far out Exchange/Outlook will look?

I always check the Remember password checkbox in applications/login dialogs where ever prompted. I cannot imagine of a third party program that may clean up this on system restart/shutdown. Any idea, as to what is going wrong?

The problem is not in Outlook, because when I log in to the actual mailprogram where I fetch the POP3 emails from, the email looks the same. When I right click in Outlook and chose "message source" then there is no "From" information. Ex, a good message should look like this: Subject: =?UTF-8?B?w5Z2cmlndA==?= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 From: John Doe However, the ones with problem looks like this: Subject: =?UTF-8?B??= MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 From: As if the information has been lost somewhere. You should know also that I have a VPS, which I manage myself. I use postfix as an emailserver, if thats got anything to do with it. But then again, why does it work sometimes? Also another thing that I have noticed is that sometimes special characters are not shown correctly (by both Outlook and the webmail). For instance, the name "Björkman" in swedish is shown like Björkman, but again, only sometimes. I hope anybody knows something about this problem, because it is very hard to track down for me atleast. If you need more input let me know.

Messages were transferred in to Exchange by copying them from the old Apple Xserve, accessed using IMAP. So my question, finally: 1. Is there any way to get the IMAP Exchange connector to rebuild its cache of messages since it doesn't seem to be pulling them directly from the MAPI store? 2.   • Office for Mac 2011 does not start, how do I repair the database?

    After a TimeMachine restore; Office 2011 is having kittens over permissions it would seem. Having attempted a 'repair' out of Disk Utility, am still seeing: there is a problem with the Office database upon startup, after which Word/Excel work without issues. Outlook on the other hand won't even start. Given the obvious message here "You do not have write access to the Outlook application folder" – where is the DB located to check?

  • Alternative to MS Dynamics CRM 4.0?

    hi, A customer of mine have been testing a trial of MS CRM 4.0 that I installed for them, but they concluded that it might be a bit heavy for them. I promised them to look into other CRM applications that use SQL Server as the backend and preferably has an Outlook plugin so you can do "CRM Stuff" directly from Outlook. If anyone knows about alternatives, I would appreciate it if you leave a link here!

  • Outlook2010 : Sending hyperlinks containing a space, <> is not working

    Previously I used Outlook 2003 and I was able to send a hyperlink with a space by typing < before entering the hyperlink and a > after typing the hyperlink and the whole thing would become a valid clickable link. Like so <\\network share with spaces\folder We upgraded to Outlook 2010 and currently this happens <\\network share with spaces\folder or if I do nothing \\network share with spaces\folder Is there a setting in one of these ribbons somewhere to control this?
