• LNK2005: delete already defined error in VC++

  Hi, I am newbie to VC++, so please forgive me if this is stupid. I have got 7 solutions under one project. Six of these build static libraries which is linked inside 7th to produce an exe. The runtime configuration of all the projects is MultiThreaded Debug. sln which is used to produce exe is using MFC other slns use standard runtiem library. I tried changing those to MFC, but still I am getting the same error. All the six slns build successfully. When I try to build exe - get the follwoing error: nafxcwd.lib(afxmem.obj) : error LNK2005: "void __cdecl operator delete(void *,int,char const *,int)" (??3@YAXPAXHPBDH@Z) already defined in tara_common.lib(fileStream.obj) This is weird because tara_common is one of the libs that I generated and fileStream.cpp is file that is just using delete on a pointer. I built it in verbose mod, so I am attaching the output. • Creating a Wiki site in SharePoint 2010

  I have a SharePoint 2010 site set up and would like to add a Wiki site to it. Normally, to add a subsite to a parent site you would click "Site Actions" - "New Site" and choose the site type (e.g. Team Site) and it would work fine. In the case of adding a Wiki site, I choose "Enterprise Wiki", and get "Error An Unexpected Error has occured Correlation Id:...". So i took the CorrelationId and checked in the ULS files to see what the error is, and the first bad sign seems to be: SharePoint Foundation Feature Infrastructure " The element of type 'ContentTypeBinding' for feature 'EnterpriseWiki' (id: 76d688ad-c16e-4cec-9b71-7b7f0d79b9cd) threw an exception during activation: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: Content type not found (Id: '0x010100C568DB52D9D0A14D9B2FDCC96666E9F2007948130EC3DB064584E219954237AF39004C1F8B46085B4D22B1CDC3DE08CFFB9C')." There are more errors in the log, but this seems to be the first one. Any ideas on whats going on? Thanks

  Hi Guys, I'm currently trying to get flip to work with scatterview items, and I'm having some trouble conceptually with it, using a plugin called Thriple (http://thriple.codeplex.com/). If there is a better way of using doing flip animations with ScatterViewItem's, that'd be cool too! Thanks!

  I am currently developing an application that uses chart control to create a histogram. The histogram displays data correctly however I would like to center the data. Right now the Min and Max are automatically set. I would like the graph to always force its to be displayed symmetrically. Here is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish. Basically I would like it to look like a normal distribution graph. Does anyone know how I can do the the following: Get the graph to be displayed symmetrically? Always show a zero line. So I click on the "Products currently accepting bugs" link and get a long list of products. First off, most of those names is something that I've never heard before. Also I can't seem to figure out how to even google this question, so I'm hoping that I can get a lead in the right direction. Part of my software(VB.NET App) requires the ability to access/read/write a shared network folder. I have an option for the user to specify any credentials that might be needed to access said folder. I want to store these credentials given in the MS SQL Database as part of the config(I have a table which contains configuration). My concern is that the password for the user account will be unencrpyted. Yet, if I encrypt the password the VB.NET App And/Or database will be unable to use the credentials for file i/o operations unless the Password is unencrypted before use. I'm fishing for suggestions on how to better handle this situation.

  Company I work for have a site developed 6-8 years ago by a team that was enthusiastic enough to use their own private PHP-based CMS. I have to put dynamic data from one intranet company database on this site in one week: 2-3 pages. I contacted company site administrator and she showed me administrative part - CMS allows only to insert html blocks & manage site map (site is deployed on machine that is inside company & fully accessible & upgradable). I'm not a PHP-guy & I don't want to dive into legacy hardly-who-ever-heard-about CMS engine I also don't want to contact developers team, 'cos I'm not sure they are still present and capable enough to extend this old days site and it'll take too much time anyway. I am about to deploy helper asp.net site on iis with 2-3 pages required & refer helper site via iframe from present site. New pages will allow to download some dynamic content from present site also. Is it ok and what are the pitfalls with iframe approach?

• Microsoft Training in .NET

  Hey guys, A quick question about training. My company are offering to put me through a 5 day course in .NET programming with C#, on the proviso that I work for them for a minimum 12 month period immediately after the training has been completed. IF I don't work for them for 12months I will be expected to pay them back teh cost of the training, minus the amount of months which I have stayed at the company (e.g. stay 6 months and only pay back half). The course will be $3,300 AUD - and will have no qualifications. I have been programming in C# for about 6 months, and in PHP for about 10 years - so I am getting the hang of .NET slowly but surely. Is it worth doing this? Or would I be best advised to learn from reading the MS books from Amazon for $40 and then sitting the 2 exams to get MS certified off my own back? The company are not willing to pay for my certification as well as 'they are not training me to get certified' and hence more employable... Thoughts? How do other companies deal with training? And stop people from taking off after becoming certified?

• What is a proper way to store site-level global variables in a SharePoint site?

  One thing that has driven me nuts about SharePoint2007 is the apparent inability to have defineable settings that apply specifically to a site or site collection itself, and not the content. I mean, you have some pre-defined settings like the Site Logo, the Site Name, and various other things, but there doesn't appear to be anywhere to add new kinds of settings. The application I am working on needs to be able to create multiple kinds of "project site collections" that all follow a basic template, but have certain additional settings that apply specifically to that site collection and that one alone. In addition to the standard site name we also need to define the Project Number, the Project Name, and the Client Name. And given the requests of some of our clients, we also reach a point where we have to have configurable settings that alter how some of the workflows work, like whether files are marked with Letters or Numbers. Our current solution, which I'm hesitant about, has been to store an XML file on the SharePoint server. This file contains one node for each site collection, identified by the URL of the root site. Inside the node are all of the elements that need to be defined for that site collection. When we need them, we have to access the XML file (which will always require SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges to access files right on the server) every time to load it and retrieve the data. There are a lot of automated processes which will have to do this, and I'm hesitant about the stability of this method when we reach hundreds of sites with thousands of files running tens of thousands of workflows, all wanting to access this file. Maybe they're unfounded worries, but I'd rather worry than risk everything breaking in a couple years. I was looking into the SPWeb object and found the AllProperties hashtable. It looks like just the kind of thing which might work, but I don't know how safe it is to be modifying this. I read through both MSDN and the WSS SDK but found nothing that clarified on adding completely new properties into AllProperties. Is it safe to use AllProperties for this kind of thing? Or is there yet another feature that I am missing, which could handle the concept of global variables at the site collection or site scope?

  Hello Everybody. I have a Job Table which has two interesting columns: Creation Date and Importance (high - 3, medium 2, low - 1). Job's priority calculated like this: Priority = Importance * (time passed since creation). The problem is, Every time I would like to pick 200 jobs with highest priority, I dont want to resort the table. Is there a way to keep rows sorted? I was also thinking about having three tables one for High, Medium and Low and then sort those by Creation Date. Thanks

• What's the best practice for keeping track of Microsoft solution stack Hot fixes and patches?

  i'm currently working on a product that is build on microsoft stacks such as sql server, entity framework, wcf, c# and biztalk server. so recently we're running into weird issues on our production servers and now we're troubleshooting this issue. we're kind of lost. so we're looking into anti virus exclusion and cumulatives updates for biztalk server. but my question now is what's the best way to keep track of all the hot fixes? do we just check for them, i.e. google it up only when we have issues? i've googled online and found that there's a microsoft baseline analyzer tool. and the other thing is microsoft blog which is updated on a weekly basis which contains all the recent hot fixes. are there a better way or best way? thanks for my ignorant question.
