  • where is the best place to store portable apps in Windows 7

    I have a number of small portable apps and utilities. Where does Microsoft recommend we keep these? Lots of installed apps install themselves into \users{username}\appdata\local but it doesn't make much sense for me to put stuff there myself. \program files\ doesn't seem right either because non admin users don't have write access there. Is it recommended to create a \users{username}\applications directory?

    I'm having trouble mounting a share on my XenServer (5.6 FP1). From the command line I try: mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/share -o credentials=credfile The contents of credfile is: username=Administrator password=What@zR\!p3s When I run the above mount command I get "Access Denied". However if I run the following command it works: mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/share -o username=Administrator,password=What@zR\!p3s Please note the "\" is to escape the bang and I've tried this with and without it in the credentials file. Any suggestions?

    I have several chrooted users on my server, and I want to install git for specific users. I block at the command : git config --global user.name "user_name" I use this command connected as the user, and I got this error : error: could not lock config file /home/username/.gitconfig: Permission denied I tried to create the file from root, and then put chmod 755 and chown username .gitconfig, but I get the error.     I am trying to create a login script, or bat file to delete the folder located in the following directory. I would like the whole folder deleted with all of its contents "Juniper Networks". This is on a terminal server - C:\Users(username)\AppData\Roaming\Juniper Networks I can write a script for each username, but want a script to put in the startup folder that deleted the folder of the current user each time they login.

When I select Attach Databases and then attempt to browse to the files (C:\Users\username\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\nameofproject) it only lets me navigate to C:\Users\username...Why? How can I fix this?

When I enter http://localhost/ into the browser I get the xampp homepage. However when I enter http://217.164.79.62/ into my browser I get the following message: The server 217.164.79.62:80 requires a username and password. User Name: Password: How do I get the username and password?

  • 403 forbidden root on apache mac os x 10.7, but can access user directories

    When I access http://localhost/ I get 403 Forbidden, but if I access http://localhost/~username it serves up pages. Things I've tried: - checking error logs - swapping out with original httpd conf files - changing DocumentRoot to my user directory (after all that should work if I can access ~username) I've seen 30 plus Q&A sites that all point to people having trouble with user directories being forbidden. I have the opposite problem, and so I'm tearing my hair out here.

    Hi, i have a problem with Firefox autocomplete in login forms. When i enter a password and a username for the first time it asks me if i want to remember them, i click on "remember" and it saves the data, but when i log out and then return to the login page it shows me nothing. The password is autocompleted only after i enter the username. Is there a way to do the autocomplete immediately like in any other browser?

  • Why isn't the backup file created when running sqlcmd from remote machine?

    I tried running the sqlcmd from a remote host to do a simple backup of a sql 2008 database. The command goes something like this: sqlcmd -s xxx.xxx.xxx.xx -U username -P some_password -Q "Backup database [db] to \ disk = 'c:\test_backup.bak' with format" I get a succesfull message but the file isn't created. When I run this on the sql manager on the same machine, it works. I thought it was permission problems, but I'm using the same username in both cases. Any thoughts?

If that's not possible, if I were to give all customers the same public key, would each connection be encrypted individually?     I have a Windows share mounted on a Linux server (RHEL4) using a mount command like this: mount -t smbfs //server_ip/foldername /servername/foldername -o username=USERNAME,password=PASSWORD -o gid=users,dmask=777,fmask=777,rw,noatime It stays working for weeks at a time but sometimes stops working, at which time I unmount it and mount it again. This works but the share would have been unavailable for some time before I noticed it in log files. Is there some way that the share can be automatically remounted when it fails?

    For example what is the alternative to this command without quotation marks: CD "c:\Documents and Settings" The full reason I don't want to use quotation marks is that this command DOES work: SVN add mypathname\*.* but this command DOES NOT work : SVN add "mypathname\*.*" The problem being when I change mypathname for a path with spaces in it I need to quote the whole thing. For example: SVN add "c:\Documents and Settings\username\svn\*.*" But when I try this I get the following error message: svn: warning: 'c:\Documents and Settings\username\svn\*.*' not found
