• XAMPP Closes the Connection and won't let me download anything

  I want my XAMPP Apache server to host a zip file (The file is around 250mb) but the server closes the connection and won't let me download the file! However webistes are loading correctly and It seems that the problem is with the extension Does xampp/apache have any file extension limit that they won't let me download .zip and .exe files? Also tested with a smaller .exe file , the problem is still present. It just doesn't let me download any file from the server.!!!   How to check the LDAP connection from a client to server. I'm working on the LDAP authentication and this client desktop needs to authenticate via a LDAP server. I can SSH to the LDAP server using LDAP user but When in desktop login prompt, I can't login. It says Authentication failure. Client machine has Cent OS 6.3 and LDAP server has Cent OS 5.5 LDAP software is Openldap. LDAP servers logs doesn't even show any messages. So, how to test whether the client can successfully connect to LDAP or not.

Now I am trying to connect to that server via vncviewer (mac os). but its giving me error Connection refused (61) I am providing only the IP address of the VPS, maybe I also needed port address? • Aventail VPN connection doesn't work

  I installed the Aventail VPN client on both the Mac and a Windows 7 machine, both on my home network. When I try to connect one or the other (I make sure one is disconnected before connecting through the other machine), I get a connection and view the correct certificate - accept it and Aventail tells me that I am connected. However, accessing any page inside my company's network is only possible on Windows. On the Mac I get this page: It looks like my ISP doesn't know how to redirect me? Maybe something about my DNS being set incorrectly on the Mac? Our helpdesk has been completely useless.

• Reverse SCP over SSH connection

  I pretty often need some file from some server when I'm on my laptop. But if I don't know where that file is, I have to ssh into the server, look around, exit, and then scp server:file .. If I'm working with my desktop and my server, both of which have static IPs, I can just SCP the file in reverse (scp desktop:~ file), but I can't do that for my laptop. Is there any nice way to SCP a file backwards over an SSH connection? So that the computer I connect to with SSH sends a file backwards to the client?

I've called my hosting company support and they're able to connect to this server using my ftp credentials. I've also tried to connect on another machine on my network and have the same issue. Could it be the firewall? My ISP?

• VMware postfix server drops connection

  Our physical server godzilla forwards mails to our virtuall VMware server b4. They are on the same net. Often connection drops, we can't ping godzilla with our b4. That means mails from godzilla won't reach b4 and the mails will be in handed into the mailq. Sometimes it takes some hours and the issue will auto fix itself, b4 will wake up and the mail will be delivered. Another thing if we remotely ssh into the b4, the b4 will wake up and and receive any mailq mails from godzilla and deliver them. netadmin@b4:/var/log$ arp -a ? • Troubleshooting "connection reset" error on my linux server

  I fervently hope someone here can help me with the problem I am experiencing. I am a programmer, and I have very little understanding of linux sysadmin terminology/concepts. I am attempting to troubleshoot a problem with my website. It is a Facebook app, and whenever I try to connect using Chrome, I get an error stating that the "connection was reset". I have been Googling for four days straight trying to find a solution to this problem, but no joy. A big part of the problem is that I do not understand the terminology being employed, and the output from many of the tools referenced is likewise indecipherable to me. I am running a VPS with CentOS 5, apache, PHP, and MySQL. I could spam this post with a ton of information from my iptables, apache, etc but if anyone needs information from my server, please let me know how to get it, and I will post it here. Thank you for any help you can offer!

• wifi connection turns off oll the time

  Hello! I realy need help with one strange problem. I have a wifi network in my appartment with wireless N home router Trendnet tew-652BRP. Everething work fine for three of my laptops, but I have one PC with D-Link DWA-140 adapter. It looses connection 2-3 times in 5 minutes. There is following messages in my system log when it does so: The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{9537A5C1-3B43-4C56-B94C-CE69A257C3AD} because a master browser was stopped. The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control. The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)] Comment: None The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service entered the stopped state. in order of appearence. How can I stop it? I have the latest driver installed.

  In a VOIP application, I have upto 3000 clients rsync audio files from there linux server in a daily, server is placed at a data center (10Mbps in/out bound), the server works as a VOIP sip server running FreeSWITCH (low ping latency should be ensured.) Therefore I would like to have server side control of rsync which controls: Limit total outbound bandwidth. Limit total number of connections. (Reject clients while at max number of connection and let it retry after a specific time frame.) OPTIONAL: list/kill individual connections. Normally I would use ssh + rsync + pem_keys with some extra options, but above requirements are not feasible by simple command lines. Can anyone point me some direction. or show some scripts/tools? I would also probably integrate them and release on github. Thanks!

  I'm having some troubles with one of my servers. I've done an application with two servers, one the frontend that grabs the data of server API (Ubuntu server). Well, yesterday had a lot of visits and the API server stop functioning but: -I can do stuff in MySQL by SSH. -The memory usage is ok. -The logs are ok. -The bandwitch usage is ok. -If i restart the server or Apache2, function by some time (3-4 minutes). And the most important i think if i tries to access to API (Is rest-style with http) it puts me the Firefox error "The connection has been reset". I'd tried: -Restart the server -Restart Apache2 -Restart MySQL -Viewed the logs of Apache2/MySQL I don't know too much about systems so i don't know what to do more.

• Open file in local text editor from within an SSH connection

  I'm not a vim guy. I'd like to be able to open log files in Sublime Text when in an SSH connection from within Terminal. Is there a way I could do this? I'm thinking there must be a command or something that could copy the file over to a temporary directory in OS X and then open it in Sublime Text, and when I save it, it'll copy back to the original location through SSH; similar to how FileZilla does it. I'm on Mac OS X MT. The server I SSH into is running Ubuntu. I'm using Terminal.

Server has DHCP server installed on it and internet nic is being shared for internet access. The problem is sometimes server looses connection to the internet, so same happens to private network.   just setup a new server with sql server express 2005. (want to connect remotely) I set logins both windows and sql I modified so both local and remote connections are allowed I restarted the server windows firewall is not connected. (have an external firewall with a hole at port 1443) user account is active, no password policy or forcing to change on next login etc. If I even try to connect using this username locally on the server using 'file | connect to object explorer' I get the same message that the user is not associated to a trusted connection.

  My internal Windows 2008 AD network is 172.20.xxx.xxx My Apple Wireless base stations only allows DHCP 172.16.xxx.xxx Private IP address ranges: 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 The problem: The internet works from my IPad that has a 172.16.xxx.xxx address, but I can't access (browse) my tools server that is 172.20.xxx.xxx that host my Filemaker database. Is it possible to add 172.16.xxx.xxx range somewhere in DHCP or DNS on my Windows domain server so I can access tools? Or is there another way to make this connection work? Thanks

• Project Server 2010 site creation - the database connection string is not available

  I am trying to get Project Server 2010 up and running on a Win Server 2008 box. I've got Sharepoint 2010 installed and Project Server 2010 installed. I open SharePoint Central Administration, then I go to Manage Service Applications Project Server Service Application. It looks like there is a site under the "Sharepoint - 80" section, but the Status says "Failed - see the Application event Log". When I click on the site and select "Retry" I get the same thing. In the event viewer, I see an error with SharePoint Foundation Search as the Source - it reads: Could not create a database session. Context: Application '276504a6-93b1-4c1f-a900-fd6ed9d5c117' Details: The database connection string is not available. (0xc0041228) How can I fix this? Is there some configuration I missed?

• Squid closing the connection on long HTTP GET requests

  When running a database query on a specific external site we use, Squid seems to cut off the connection after a consistent period of time (just over a minute). The query is submitted through a standard web form is that uses GET to query their database. Firefox 3 just displays a blank page. Internet Explorer throws a 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' error (tested in v6 and v8). When we perform the same query on the same machine, but bypass the Squid proxy, it works fine. The query takes about two and a half minutes to complete. There are a few timeout settings in Squid, but I honestly don't know what one to be looking at. Any possible solutions would be much appreciated. Cheers

  Here is my IPCONFIG /ALL from the host (Windows 7 64-bit): Here is my IFCONFIG from the guest (Ubuntu 10.04): To be honest, I don't have experience configuring a network between a host and a guest in VMWare (a virtual machine). I've searched high and low on the internet, but I haven't seen anything that can help. Perhaps I'm just not using the right keywords when I search. Nevertheless, does anyone here have any experience with establishing a network connection? Edit: One important note. I don't use DHCP to provide private addresses to the hosts on my LAN. I use "static" IP addresses on my internal network by configuring each IP address manually in the host's network configuration utility (I have TV's, XBOX 360, and a few PC's). I would like to configure the IP on the virtual machine guest manually as well. The reason is because my XBOX 360 only works properly using a static IP address. It will kick me off XBOX Live if it has one given by the router (via DHCP).

• Windows 8 / Server 2012 RDP connection is slow

  I recently installed Windows Server 2012 for development purposes at our office and noticed immediately that connecting via RDP is slow. It can take 5-10 seconds to connect at times, where as connecting to any of our Win7 or Win2008R2 boxes takes at most 1-3 seconds. At first, I chalked this up to the box itself needing a driver update or something, but just yesterday, I installed Win8 on my desk PC and connecting from home to that machine produces the same result. There is a 3-4 second pause at "securing remote connection" and then again at "configuring remote session". I don't see any warnings in the event log, and once connected, there do not appear to be any performance issues. Is there a known problem with RDP connections on Windows 8 systems? Anything I should look for?

• telnet: Could not open connection to the host, on port 23

  I need to telnet, to localhost. I am on windows. Once I got the error 'telnet is not recognized...' I looked online and found that I should do pkgmgr /iu:"TelnetClient". I did, then telnet localhost (0r 127.0.0.1, maybe with a port at the end), I get error: Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed. I added the port to the firewall, disabled the firewall.. run as admin.. Please help me get telnet to work! Thank you.
