• facebook graph api does not return all feed items on facebook page

  at the time of this question, if you go here: http://www.facebook.com/realplayer you'll see six posts down, I have posted a photo with a message of "#highfive Cincinnati, OH" but if you to either of these: http://graph.facebook.com/realplayer/feed http://graph.facebook.com/realplayer/tagged the JSON that is returned seemingly includes everything on the wall, except for MY post. there is another photo post from someone else down below mine, and it is showing up (and both my photo and his photo are in the "Fan photos" section) obviously, since I can see everything with these links already, it appears that access_token is not a part of the equation... BUT, some more info: if I use an access_token from a session that isn't me, I can't see the post in the JSON if I use an access_token from MY logged in session, then I DO see the post in the JSON so I'm very confused. if everyone in the world can see those posts on the wall without even authenticating, then I expect all of them to come back in the graph api as well. anyone have thoughts on this? I am aware of the "manage_page" permission... which I can use to get a list of accounts and special offline access tokens for those pages... and that's something I can explore... but it seems like alot of work when my post seemingly SHOULD be there in the graph

• Core-Plot crash only in Release Configuration

  Hey everyone, I really don't know a solution or even an idea to get around the following failure. It only happens in Release Configuration on the Device - Simulator and Debug Configuration work fine. It also only appears on the second launch. So if I have the phone connected to my mac, build the application and run it, everything works fine. If I then close the app and restart, it crashes. • Running Different Modules on Tomcat/Server

  Hi All, I have started working on my own project idea but on the starting i have strucked in the structure decision may be lack of knowledge is the promary factor. i am wondering how we can make 2 different modules to co-operate on the server.Here is is explanation of what i am trying to ask as per my design i need 2 modules for my application 1. Back end handling where i can do all content handling as well as other admin task a console which will be capable of handling everything from ceating importing contents to everything. 2 USer end which is only an interface to the end user to use the application. to visualize the things its kinda e-commerce application one is back office management and other is user end of web-shop. since these two module will be very much interlinked but i don't want them to mix up i want them to develop independently since admin is one which is core and it will also going to serve user interface. my question is how i can develop two module independently but on the other hand i want them to co-operate to accomplish the task as a whole. • Loading saved byte array to memory stream causes out of memory exception

  At some point in my program the user selects a bitmap to use as the background image of a Panel object. When the user does this, the program immediately draws the panel with the background image and everything works fine. When the user clicks "Save", the following code saves the bitmap to a DataTable object. MyDataSet.MyDataTableRow myDataRow = MyDataSet.MyDataTableRow.NewMyDataTableRow(); //has a byte[] column named BackgroundImageByteArray using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream()) { this.Panel.BackgroundImage.Save(stream, ImageFormat.Bmp); myDataRow.BackgroundImageByteArray = stream.ToArray(); } Everything works fine, there is no out of memory exception with this stream, even though it contains all the image bytes. However, when the application launches and loads saved data, the following code throws an Out of Memory Exception: using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(myDataRow.BackGroundImageByteArray)) { this.Panel.BackgroundImage = Image.FromStream(stream); } The streams are the same length. I don't understand how one throws an out of memory exception and the other doesn't. How can I load this bitmap? P.S. • Help with interesting VS2010 and SQL2008 bug

  Hey So im using Visual Studio 2010 to create a webpage. im calling some tabels from sql server 2008 here is where im confused... The code runs fine no errors. The pages works except im missing my rows in my 3rd column from the table. Everything else shows up. Ive checked to make sure the names are matching everywhere and that in sql the joins and such worked. • Enterprise integration of disparate systems

  We're about to embark on a fairly large integration effort to kill off a bunch of Access and Sql Server databases and get everything into one coherent enterprise system. There are also a number of other systems (accounting, CRM, payroll, MS Exchange) that hold critical data that we need to integrate (use for data validation in other systems), report on and otherwise expose. It is likely that some of these systems will change in the next few years, so we need to isolate our systems to be ready for change. Ideally we would be able to expose our forms in a consistent manner across as many of our our systems as possible without having to re-develop them for each system. We are currently targeting SharePoint (2007 and soon 2010), Office (2007 and soon 2010 - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Reporting Services, .Net console applications, .Net Windows applications, shell extensions, and with the possibility of exposing some functionality on mobile devices (BlackBerries currently, maybe iPhones later) and via our website. We're moving development to Visual Studio 2010 (from 2005) ahead of migrating to SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010. Given that most of our development is presently targeted to the .Net framework (mostly in C#) it seems logical to stick with this unless there is some compelling reason to switch frameworks/platform for some aspects. We're thinking of your standard Database-Data Integration layer-Business Objects Layer-Web Services (or REST) layer-Client Application plus doing our own client application with WPF (or something else?) forms that can also be exposed in the MS systems (SharePoint, Office, Windows). So, we don't want much, just everything :) Basically we need to isolate ourselves from database and systems changes, create an API that can be used throughout our systems and then make this functionality available in our client applications. I'm very keen to get pointers from anyone who has tips on how to pull this off. Should we look at the Enterprise Library as a place to start? Is REST with ASP.Net MVC2 a better solution than Web Services for a system like this? Will WPF deliver forms re-use or is there something better?

  When I run SSIS package from BIDS it runs fine without any error / problem. When I try to call it through a ASP.NET website I get the following error - "String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated." I checked all the columns / data to see if anything is exceeding the limit, everything is fine. I can run the package through command line using dtexec C:dtexec /f "C:\temp\MyTempPackage.dtsx", it executes without any problem . The problem is when I try to run it through ASP.NET. The following is the code that I am trying to use - //DTS Runtime Application Application app = new Application(); //DTS Package Package package = app.LoadPackage(packagePath, null); //Execute and Get the result DTSExecResult result = package.Execute(); I am making a call to a webservice from asp.net which has the above code. Both the webservice and website have identity impersonation enabled. I have identity enabled in my web.config for this <identity impersonate="true" userName="MyUserName" password="MyPassword"/> This problem is only when I am trying to import a Excel file (.xlsx) when I import a .txt file everything is fine. Excel Import blew up in both 32bit and 64bit enviornments. Help on how to make this to work is greatly appreciated.

• Loading user control dynamically looses data

  I have a created a user control. This user control I dynamically load on a page inside Telerik Panelbar control. I have done all necessary coding to save the viewstate and load this dynamically created usercontrol every time page loads. On this User control I have a asp panel. By default this panel is invisible. When user clicks a button on this user control panel is made visible. On page load of this user control I populate all the controls on this panel. Everything works fine if I don’t load this use control dynamically but when I load this user control dynamically and if I make panel visible by default then only all fields on the panel are populated. But if I make by default invisible and on button click make panel visible none of the text boxes or comboboxes are populated. I populate comboboxes on page load of the userControl but inbetween postbacks all the comboboxes on the user control loose data.   Well I tried to figure out is this possible in any way. I would like to have one prototypical function lying in memory that would do the same... Any ideas? EDIT: I tried solution given by Christoph, and it seems that its only known solution for now. It need to remember id information to retrieve value from context, but whole idea is nice for me :) Id is only one thing to remember, everything else can be stored once in memory. In fact you could store a lot of private members this way, and use anytime only one id. • Hibernate Exception Fixed By Alt+Tab

  Hi all, I've got a very curious problem in Hibernate that I would like some opinions on. In my code if I do the following: Go to page A Click a link on page A to be taken to page B Click on data item on page B Exception thrown I get an error telling me: failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: XYZ, no session or session was closed Fair enough. But when I do the same thing but add an alt+tab in the middle, everything is fine. E.g. Go to page A Click a link on page A to be taken to page B Hit ALt+Tab to switch to another application Hit ALt+Tab to switch back to the web browser Click on data item on page B Everything is fine. I'm a little confused as to how switching focus from my application makes it act as I want it to. Does anyone have any light to shine on the subject? I don't think it's a locking issue as even if I do the second set of steps quicker than the first, still no error. It's a Seam application using Hibernate 3.3.2.GA & 3.4.0.GA.

• How do you populate a NSArrayController with CoreData rows programmatically?

  After several hours/days of searching and diving into example projects i've concluded that I need to just ask. If I bind the assetsView (IKImageBrowserView) directly to an IB instance of NSArrayController everything works just fine. - (void) awakeFromNib { library = [[NSArrayController alloc] init]; [library setManagedObjectContext:[[NSApp delegate] managedObjectContext]]; [library setEntityName:@"Asset"]; NSLog(@"%@", [library arrangedObjects]); NSLog(@"%@", [library content]); [assetsView setDataSource:library]; [assetsView reloadData]; } Both NSLogs are empty. I know i'm missing something... I just don't know what. The goal is to eventually allow multiple instances of this view's "library" filtered programmatically with a predicate. For now i'm just trying to have it display all of the rows for the "Asset" entity. Addition: If I create the NSArrayController in IB and then try to log [library arrangedObjects] or manually set the data source for assetsView I get the same empty results. First of all, When you have a model called Movie, is it better to use Ratings as a model and associate them or just keep Ratings in an array floating in space(!). • web service slowdown

  Hi, I have a web service slowdown. My (web) service is in gsoap & managed C++. It's not IIS/apache hosted, but speaks xml. My client is in .NET The service computation time is light (<0.1s to prepare reply). I expect the service to be smooth, fast and have good availability. I have about 100 clients, response time is 1s mandatory. Clients have about 1 request per minute. Clients are checking web service presence by tcp open port test. So, to avoid possible congestion, I turned gSoap KeepAlive to false. Until there everything runs fine : I bearly see connections in TCPView (sysinternals) New special synchronisation program now calls the service in a loop. It's higher load but everything is processed in less 30 seconds. With sysinternals TCPView, I see that about 1 thousands connections are in TIME_WAIT. They slowdown the service and It takes seconds for the service to reply, now. Could it be that I need to reset the SoapHttpClientProtocol connection ? Someone has TIME_WAIT ghosts with a web service call in a loop ?

• Ruby on Rails: Uploading a modifed site.

  I'm having a heck of a time getting a site I modified to work correctly. I didn't set the site up originally, and since the person that set it up no longer works with me I had to learn ruby just to make some changes. I made all the changes in the development server and everything worked fine. Then I did a diff on the production and development and moved only my changes over. Unfortunately when I loaded my changes onto the production server I got a lot of errors. I've changed all of the permissions to 755, which took care being able to access anything at all, but after that I started getting a lot of 500 errors. Nothing showed up in the production.log file. I really have no clue what's going wrong except that perhaps things are not noticing the new changes. I moved the old site to a backup folder, and the new site crashes whenever it goes to anything that I've changed. In particular, I added a link to a new setup with an extra controller/model/view group. It works fine on development but in production it gives me a 404. Yes, I did copy all the files up. I even put everything back how it was, but the website is still showing the broken version of it. I checked the tmp/cache folder but it was empty. Running dispatch.fcgi shows the old site (which I expected) but it still shows the flawed new site when I connect through a browser. I've been tearing my hair out trying to get this to work. Any ideas as to how I can get this to work?

• Why does this threading approach not work?

  I have a wierd problem with threading in an ASP.NET application. For some reason, when I run the code in the request thread, everything works as expected. But when I run it in a separate thread, nothing happens. This is verified by calling the below handler with the three flags "on", "off" and "larma" respectively - in the two first cases everything works, but in the latter nothing happens. What am I doing wrong here? • Database contents setting themselves to 0

  I have a Database that contains 4 tables, however I'm using 1 of them which is separated from the others. In this table I have 4 fields which are varchar and the rest are ints (11 other fields), when the users fill up the DB everything gets saved correctly, however it has happened 3 times so far that the database values for the int's reset to 0 without any apparent reason. At first, I thought, it was because those fields (where the numbers should go) were varchars not ints. However since I changed it, it happened again. I've already double checked my code and I have nothing that even updates or inserts a 0 value. Also I'm using codeigniter and active records which protect against SQL injections AND have XSS filtering enabled, could anyone point out something I might be missing or a reason for this to be happening? Also, I'm pretty sure about the answer of this but, is there ANY way to recover some data?? Other than having to ask everyone to fill in everything again.. =/ ** EDIT ** The Storage Engine is MyISAM and Collation is latin1_swedish_ci, Pack Keys are default, for all intents and purposes it's a normal DB

• Why won't EF4 generate a method to support my Function Import?

  I have a stored proc in my database which returns an integer. I added a Function Import to my model. This appears in the EDMX file: <Function Name="GetTotalEntityCount" Aggregate="false" BuiltIn="false" NiladicFunction="false" IsComposable="false" ParameterTypeSemantics="AllowImplicitConversion" Schema="dbo" /> However, no method actually gets generated for this. It should be top level, right? using (MyContext context = new MyContext()) { context.MyMethodShouldBeRightHere(); } Nothing appears in Intellisense, I've gone through the designer.cs file and there's nothing in there, and reflected the DLL...nothing. The code generator is just not generating any code to support this stored proc. I added another table to my database and updated the model, and that came in, so the model will update, it's just specifically ignoring this stored proc. I've tried everything I can think of, and consulted every resource I can find, and as near as I can tell, I'm doing everything right. I'm using EF4, database-first. (I'm pretty sure on the version, anyway. This shows up in the generated file: Runtime Version:4.0.30319.1 )

  Hello! I am now working on a some sort of a game engine and I had an idea to put everything engine-related into a static library and then link it to my actual problem. Right now I achieved it and actually link that library and every functions seem to work fine, except those, which are windows-related. I have a chunk of code in my library that looks like this: hWnd = CreateWindow(className, "Name", WS_OVERLAPPED | WS_CAPTION | WS_EX_TOPMOST, 0, 0, 800, 600, NULL, NULL, GetModuleHandle(NULL), this); if (hWnd) { ShowWindow(hWnd, SW_NORMAL); UpdateWindow(hWnd); } else { MessageBox(NULL, "Internal program error", "Error", MB_OK | MB_ICONERROR); return; } When this code was not in the library, but in the actual project, it worked fine, created the window and everything was ok. Right now (when I'm linking to my library that contains this code) CreateWindow(...) call returns NULL and GetLastError() returns "Operation succesfully completed" (wtf?). Could anybody help me with this? Is it possible to create a window and display it using a static library call and why could my code fail? Thank you.

• Why does Firefox + My code Destroys FireFox refresh

  I am soo angry right now. I lost hours and i dont know why this happens. Its a semi rant but i'll try to keep it short My code would not work, even after refreshing it was broken I fixed my code or so i thought because it stops working without me changing anything (you would think i am imagining this...) I somehow decide to make a new window or tab i run my code and verifies it works. I write more code and see everything is broken again I write test in a new window and see my code does work I see my code doesnt work and firebug DOES NOT HELP I notice when i create a new tab everything works I realize refreshing does not work and i MUST make a new tab for my code to work. Then i knew instantly what the problem was. I modify a display:none textbox but i set the values incorrectly. I cant see it because it is hidden. Now some of you might say its my fault because when doing a refresh all of the data may be cache. But here is the kicker. I was using POST data. I posted in between of the refresh each and everytime. Whats the point of using POST when the same data is cached and use anyways? If theres no chance for a search engine to follow a block user get link then why should i bother making anything post when security or repeat actions are not an issue? POST didnt seem to do anything.

  Sorry that I could not compile jsfiddle because it's jsf application hosted locally and code is dependent on data from jsf application. Although I have arrange part of it and part if it as snippet here. Now Everything's correct in Firefox. Suddenly when I open it in chrome something happened. The text on raphael paper suddenly gets scattered in the paper. It's not where it's meant to be. This happens when I convert svg to image and again generate svg. Everything works fine in Firefox. • Activator.CreateInstance uses a huge amount of memory

  I have been playing a bit with Silverlight and try to port my Silverlight 3.0 application to Silverlight 4.0. My application loads different XAP files and upon a user request create an instance of a Xaml user control and adds it to the main container, in a sort of MEF approach in order I can have an extensible and pluggable application. The application is pretty huge and to keep acceptable the performances and the initial loading I have built up some helper classes to load in the background all pages and user controls that might be used later on. On Silverlight 3.0 everything was running smoothly without any problem so far. Switching to SL 4.0 I have noticed that when the process approaches to create the instances of the user controls using Activator.CreateInstance, the layout freezes unexpectedly for a minute and sometimes for more. Looking at the task manager the memory usage of IE jumps from 50MB to 400MB and sometimes to 1.5 GB. If the process won't take that much the layout is rendered properly and the memory falls back to 50 MB. Otherwise everything crashes due to out of memory exeption. Does anybody encountered the same problem? Or has anybody a solution about this tricky issue?

• Global mouseMove

  I have made the following javascript to be used in my jQuery based website. What it does, is to move a slider up/down, and scale the item above higher/smaller. Everything works fine, but since the slider is only a few pixels in height, and the move event is a bit slow (it does not trigger for every pixel) so when I move the mouse fast, the slider can't hold on and the mouse get's out of the slider item. The mouseMove event won't be triggered no more since it is bound to the slider. I guess everything could be fixed by setting the mouseMove global to the whole site, but it won't work, or at least I don't know how to make that work. • Instrumenting a string

  Somewhere in C++ era i have crafted a library, which enabled string representation of the computation history. Having a math expression like: TScalar Compute(TScalar a, TScalar b, TScalar c) { return ( a + b ) * c; } I could render it's string representation: r = Compute(VerbalScalar("a", 1), VerbalScalar("b", 2), VerbalScalar("c", 3)); Assert.AreEqual(9, r.Value); Assert.AreEqual("(a+b)*c==(1+2)*3", r.History ); C++ operator overloading allowed for substitution of a simple type with a complex self-tracking entity with an internal tree representation of everything happening with the objects. Now i would like to have the same possibility for NET strings, only instead of variable names i would like to see a stack traces of all the places in code which affected a string. And i want it to work with existing code, and existing compiled assemblies. Also i want all this to hook into visual studio debugger, so i could set a breakpoint, and see everything that happened with a string. Which technology would allow this kind of things? I know it sound like an utopia, but I think visual studio code coverage tools actually do the same kind of job while instrumenting the assemblies.

• IE7 & 8 not fireing jQuery click events for elements appended inside a table

  I have an IE bug that I'm not sure how to fix. Using jQuery I'm dynamically moving a menu to appear on an element on mouseover. My code (simplified) looks something like this: $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function() { //do something on the menu clicks $j('div.ico').click(function() { alert($j(this).parent().html()); }); setUpActions('#tableId', '#menuId'); }); //on mouseover set up the actions menu to appear on mouseover function setUpActions(tableSelector, menuSelector) { $j(tableSelector + ' div.test').mouseover(function() { //note that append will move the underlying //DOM element with all events from it's old //parent to the end of this one. $j(this).append($j(menuSelector).show()); }); } This menu doesn't seem to register events correctly for the menu after it's been moved in IE7, IE8 and IE8-as-IE7 (yeah MS, that's really a 'new rendering engine' in IE8, we all believe you). It works as expected in everything else. You can see the behaviour in a basic demo here. In the demo you can see two examples of the issue: The image behind the buttons should change on hover (done with a CSS :hover selector). It works on the first mouseover but then persists. The click event doesn’t fire – however with the dev tools you can manually call it and it is still subscribed. You can see (2) in IE8's dev tools: Open page in IE8 Open dev tools Select "Script" tab and "Console" sub-tab Type: $j('#testFloat div.ico:first').click() to manually call any subscribed events There will be an alert on the page This means that I'm not losing the event subscriptions, they're still there, IE's just not calling them when I click. Does anyone know why this bug occurs (other than just because of IE's venerable engine)? Is there a workaround? Could it be something that I'm doing wrong that just happens to work as expected in everything else?
