  • Program broke my windows. Everything randomly minimizes even after multiple restarts

    I just installed LoL (league of legends) on my computer. The problem is that almost every time after I play the game, it minimizes all my windows which is really annoying. What is worse however is that afterwards other programs do this as well. In the internet browser doesn't minimize but it does loose focus. For example when i type it randomly looses focus and i have to click on the browser window again to it registers my typing. Is there any way to fix this? What can cause such a strange behavior?? In addition this problem persists even after restarting my computer. I previously thought it was internet driver. I no longer think so this happened right after I started playing the game and seems pretty persistent. Please read the comments for further information. This pretty much renders my computer useless. Even typing this takes a huge effort.

  • Is there a program that compares image files and reports if they are exactly the same pixel-wise?

    I'm making a regression testing suite for some rendering software. I need to be able to load an image file (PNG or TGA, ideally) and compare the pixel values to a standard approved image. I'd like it to be command line driven too, so I can make a batch file to run all the tests. All the compare utilities I have found so far either show differences (I just need it to fail if they are different) or compare all the bytes, meaning that meta-data will trigger a fail. Anyone got any suggestions? I am not a coder, and can only barely cobble a batch script together. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Run program as admin without entering credentials? (Automatic Win7 elevation)

    I'm working on my systems without admin rights, but I'd like to start sysinternals process explorer as full admin to have some debug access on my machine. Right now I run procexp.exe with parameter /e, which prompts me for admin credentials. Of course I could use runas, but for this I would need to put my admin passwort in clear text in the corresponding batch file, which is something I don't like to do. Is there a way to tell windows that this one procexp.exe is allowed to run as admin without needing to enter the credentials?

    Hello i really did all what i know to install the PostgreSQL 9.3.4 on my windows 2003 server x64, but i'm always stopped with this error : please see the error : http://oi57.tinypic.com/s4tb8i.jpg I really don't know what to do , if i click OK then when i go to the windows services list i don't find the PostgreSQL service so i can't Start the service . can any one please help me to install it correctly .   • Program (or perhaps built-in feature of Windows 7) to change wallpaper depending on screen resolution?

    I have a laptop with a resolution of 1680x1050. At work I use 2x 1280x1024 monitors, and sometimes I present using a projector that is 1024x768. My wallpaper, that I made for 1680x1050, looks awful on the other resolutions. Is there anything I can do that would make Windows 7 switch to a different wallpaper that has been cropped appropriately? ie. can I give Windows more than one wallpaper, with different resolutions, and have Windows 7 switch automatically to a matching one? If there is a free (or relatively cheap) piece of software I could download and install that would fix it, that would be OK too.

  • USB Virus, "Program too big to fit in memory"?

    I got an installer for a piece of software via usb from a friend.Now what was weird was that although my friend and I had the same OS, same brand of laptop and I had a newer version (though I don't think this quite matters), the installer was running properly for him but not for me. It just showed a command line window and exited. I ran it via a batch file in which I included "pause" after running it. Here's the screenshot: Later my friend called me and told me that it was the USB that was the problem. It had some kind of virus on it and it corrupted every executable or folder on it , and it renamed all the sub_files inside folders to some weird jargon. He had tried using another USB and the installer worked fine. Now the friend has (unfortunately) gone back to his city and I can't get the installer again from him. My question is: Is there any way to repair the installer executable and run it? and Do you think the virus has infected my PC? (I have run a system scan with my antivirus and it showed nothing but still I'm worried)

  • How can I get Windows 7 to remember program windows size and position?

    I can open Outlook and it fills about half of the screen. I then maximize it to read some mail and then minimize it to do some other work. When I click on it again in the taskbar, it is back to the original size that it opened at. I have tried Ctrl-close and Ctrl-maximize but neither seems to work. This also happens with Explorer windows, AutoCAD, Revit, and other programs that I work with. Shouldn't a minimize and a maximize bring the window back to the last size and position?

    when I install stuff under built-in Administrator - the other users cannot see the changes. for example I changed VS2012 install - added Blend and few other features - and they are invisible under another user - my 'Microsoft account' ... I surely don't want this kind of behavior. Can it be changed? EDIT: I want those apps 'legitimately installed' for all users so I can use Search and see them on my Start screen.

    Lately I've been using Visual Studio 2008 and about once a day, sometimes more it will lock up. What advanced techniques can I use to determine what is causing the problem? I believe that it's one of the plug-ins I'm using *cough*Resharper*cough* but I'd like to be sure. I've been losing work and I'd like to file a bug report somewhere but I'm not seeing anything in any of my event logs which looks suspect to me. Working on a Windows XP box.

  • Why is cron mailing me program output even though I've redirected to /dev/null?

    I'm trying to restart a system process through cron and getting emailed the startup output of the process. I thought redirecting STDOUT and SDTERR to /dev/null would "silence" the output but alas, this has not work.     Please help me!!! This is most amazing error that i have ever had, we write 100 CD, in these CDs we got one setup.exe file that autorun. in some of these CDs when I explore the cd the setup.exe file become the command prompt file and give me above error. and when I reset the system and put it in another pc it`s ok. if I reset the first pc the autorun.exe run. so I change it different computer, randomly get this problem. I am sure about the virus, because I checked on different pcs and with fully update definition so someone tell me what happen?

    I installed a 30-day "test drive" of QuarkXpress, but got pulled in to other projects and didn't have time to test it. I now need to test it, but the 30 days are up. So I want to install the "test drive" again, but it won't let me. So far I uninstalled the old copy, signed up under a different account, and downloaded a new version. I know there has to be application data somewhere, but I am a PC person and don't know where to look in the Apple. HELP! Thanks.     I'm looking for a (preferably free) service for running an executable I wrote? It's not malicious, it's not a virus, it's not scam, and if this is really important I can upload the python source code instead. I wrote a small crawler to gather information regarding the style of web pages for my MA project, and I need a lot more data. EDIT Here is more information on my problem and how I approach on solving it, and where I'm stuck. As part of my research I'm trying to classify text based on it's style (font-family for now), my data is based web pages, so I wrote a client/server application - the client is a crawler that gathers this data and send it to the server. The problem is that like 99% of the internet is Arial, Verdana and Helvetica - other fonts are far more rare, so I need to spend very long time to gather enough data regarding these fonts.   • Tracing what program is making a network connnection? (CentOS)

    I was wondering if it is possible to find out which process is trying to make a specific network connection. On a server I support which hosts websites for about 200 users, the iptables firewall keeps blocking, as it should, a connection to 212.117.169.139 on port 80. Firefox reports this as an attack page (and at the least is obvious spam, if not malicious). It seems something on this server is trying to access this site for some reason, and although it's being blocked successfully, the requests seem to be going through every two to sixty seconds and I'd like to be able to find what process or script is doing this so I can handle it appropriately. Besides doing a grep to try and find if this IP is in some file (which probably won't even work because it may be working by hostname or it may be encoded), is there any way to find out some more information? Thanks!

A client has a lot of business logic coded into their database and I need to find where it is using certain strings of text?
