  • OSX Server & Client NFS "timeout" issues?

    I have a mac environment our server is sharing an NFS mount Setup via Server Admin. Clients connect to the NFS mount at boot via The Directory Utility built into OSX... Everything works fine with one small exception, the NFS mount seems to timeout/dropout every now and then it seems random and requires a reboot to bring it back up? Has anyone else ran into this situation? Any fix would be appreciated.

    I was wondering if there was a way to schedule automatic FTP site backup with any free or open-source software? Clients like FileZilla do not have an automatic backup (ftp download) option. Is there a way to schedule this with any program, by using the windows task scheduler? Or maybe we need to use a macro program like imacro in combination with FireFTP to do the job? Do you think using macro is a feasible and secure(reliable) solution?

  • Connecting to Outlook Web (OWA) via a desktop client

So, can I use Live Mail to do that? If so, how do I configure it? If I can't use Live Mail, are there any desktop clients that can connect (I'd like to retain access to the calendar, etc)?

  • Setting up sound on a LTSP server

    I've got a Fedora 13 server setup and running successfully. Unfortunately I'm having issues making sure the clients can hear sound.   • Using OpenVPN, yet netflix.com blocks access

    I have set up an OpenVPN server on a VPS in the USA and configured it to route all clients traffic through it. Everything seems to work fine regarding the VPN connection in gerneral. All ip lookup sites show me the us server's ip address and even hulu.com works(it won't work if you are not in the usa). But for some reason netflix.com says "Sorry, Netflix is not available in your country yet.". So I thought that netflix probably uses some more sophisticated ways to determine your location beyond just your ip address. But I could not find a way to get it to work until I dropped the idea of using a VPN and instead connected to the server via a simple socks tunnel with ssh by running: ssh -D 9999 user@serverip All I had to do was changing the key network.proxy.socks_remote_dns in Firefox from false to true to prevent DNS leaks and setting up the socks proxy. Then I could finally watch netflix.com. As a result I concluded that there is nothing in the browser(or something like system timezone) that tells netflix the location, so it has to have something to do with the OpenVPN config. After that I used tcpdump to log all the traffic on the server's network interface venet0 (OpenVZ VPS), visited netflix.com on the client while first connected to the VPN and then connected via socks tunnel and afterwards compared both outputs. The only thing that caught my eye was that while using the socks tunnel the server mainly used ipv6 to connect to netflix whereas it only used ipv4 when the client was connected to the OpenVPN server. But I don't get how that could make such a difference. So what am I missing? Is there a way to configure OpenVPN to also use ipv6 to connect to a website although there is only an ipv4 connection between the VPS and the client?   • remote desktop client with panning of large desktops?

    When using the standard Windows remote desktop client in Full Screen to connect to a large remote desktop, the result is usually that the remote desktop is resized to a smaller size matching the local display. Are there any RDP clients that in Full Screen instead leave the remote desktop at its original size and pan this larger area when the mouse reaches the border edges of the local display? Thanks Mike

  • having trouble with bog standard openldap server db

    I am having trouble getting an "out of the box" openldap server working. The examples on the openldap site stiull refer to the slapd.conf file, but the install does not make that. if I start the server (service slapd start) I do not get any errors, but cannot connect ldap_sasl_bind(SIMPLE): Can't contact LDAP server (-1) anyone have a simple howto for v2.4 ? I am on fedora15, installed openldap-servers and clients via yum. I have phpldapadmin installed that I can try and connect with once I can get the command line working

  • Problem with monitoring Glassfish with JConsole..

    I have enabled JMX connection on remote Glassfish server and then I've restarted it. During starting server notified: Standard JMX Clients (like JConsole) can connect to JMXServiceURL: [service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/rmi://myserver:8686/jmxrmi] for domain management purposes. Port 8686 is opened for connections. But I can't connect to server with JConsole.. It says: Connection failed. How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

    In my web application I need to extract the real ip address for clients behind proxy, after searching I found that the possible method to do that is to read the content of "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header , I am using java servlet and the headers of the incoming request doesn't contain "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header , So why the header doesn't included in the request? I am using java 1.7 , tomcat v7 , proxy server :TMG and configured to use "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header . Please advice. Thanks in advance.

  • Is there an equivalent command for 'init.d/networking restart' in OS X

    From time to time, I've encountered issues with OS X clients' network connections (Wired and Wireless, Leopard/Snow Leopard) where nothing will fix the issue, until you reboot. Is there a particular 'network service/process' I should be watching out for? I was thinking it would be useful to know of a command that will reset a 'network connection' type service/process (same as running a sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart). Thanks!

It had a dark background and checkboxes for selecting the tools (browsers, editors, readers, im clients, etc.). After selecting the tools it downloaded a file which went away, downloaded everything you'd selected and then performed an install on each of the different apps.   • Why is my mail stuck in the queue with the status "retry" in Exchange 2003?

    I have been having a problem recently where some of our mail is not getting to clients. I looked into the Message queue on my SBS2k3 server and noticed that several recipients are showing up in the queue with a state of "Retry". When I highlight the recipient, the additional queue information says "An SMTP protocol error occured". How can I find out more specifically what error occured, and how could I then go about correcting it? Thanks, Mike
