• Tool to Create Annotated Directory Structure Documentation

  I've got a moderately complicated application that has been developed primarily by me, and I'm getting ready to bring a few more developers in, and I'm thinking of various forms of documentation that might be helpful. I want to communicate information about the directory structure/layout of the project so the new guys will know where to look for things when they are getting started and as they add features, know where to put new files etc., so we can keep things organized and consistent. Is there any tool out there can create something a little more sophisticated than just a plain text document? I'm thinking of something that looks similar to Windows Explorer with a directory structure on the left in a panel and then when you click on a particular folder, you would be able to view some text or HTML that describes the folder in the right hand panel. Oh, and development will be done on Windows, but cross platform would be nice.

• Visual VoiceXML/VXML development tool?

  Hi, all. Does anyone know of any tools out there that will let me run and debug a VXML application visually? There are a ton of VXML development tools, but they all require you to build your application within them. I have an existing application that uses JSPs to generate VXML, and I'm looking for a way to navigate through and debug the rendered VXML in much the same way that Firebug allows one to do this with HTML. I have some proxy-like tools that let me inspect the rendered code as it is sent to the VXML browser, but there's a ton of JS, which makes traversing the code by hand rather difficult. Has anyone worked with a product that allows for this? Thanks! IVR Avenger

• Hiding flash component scrollbars using object/param syntax

  Hi all, I'm not sure if this is possible (complete non-flash developer speaking), but we have a 3rd party component that we want to only show a certain topleft hand portion of. I've tried limiting the size of the HTML object container as: <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="415" data="<url>"> <param name="movie" value="<url>" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="flashvars" value="<vars>" /> </object> So limiting it to 600x415, but this causes horizontal and vertical scrollbars as part of the flash component to appear. Is there any standard way to override this behaviour? Thanks.

• Are primitive types garbage collected in Android?

  I know this may be a dumb question, but my background is more in c++ and managing my own memory. I am currently cutting down every single allocation that I can from one of my games to try and reduce the frequency of garbage collection and perceived "lag", so for every variable that I create that is an Object (String and Rect for example) I am making sure that I create it before hand in my constructor and not create temporary variables in simple 10 line functions... (I hope that makes sense) Anyways I was working though it some more tonight and I realized that I may be completely wrong about my assumption on garbage collection and primitive types (int, boolean, float) are these primitive type variables that I create in a 10 line function that gets called 20 times a second adding to my problem of garbage collection? So a year ago every few seconds I would see a message in logcat like GC freed 4010 objects / 484064 bytes in 101ms Now I see that message every 15-90 seconds or so... So to rephrase my question: Are primitive types (int, float, boolean, etc) included when seeing this message?

• Using FourSquare API in a Rails App

  Anybody have any good resources that might be helpful in trying to integrate the FourSquare API into a Rails app? I'm specifically looking for a good tutorial. There doesn't seem to be much out there yet. There are a few ruby gems, but they are pretty bare bones and I need a bit more hand-holding. I have not done much work with APIs in the past, but I am very comfortable with Rails. What I need is a little better sense of exactly where all the pieces fit. • SQL: Need to SUM on results that meet a HAVING statement

  I have a table where we record per user values like money_spent, money_spent_on_candy and the date. So the columns in this table (let's call it MoneyTable) would be: UserId Money_Spent Money_Spent_On_Candy Date My goal is to SUM the total amount of money_spent -- but only for those users where they have spent more than 10% of their total money spent for the date range on candy. What would that query be? I know how to select the Users that have this -- and then I can output the data and sum that by hand but I would like to do this in one single query. Here would be the query to pull the sum of Spend per user for only the users that have spent 10% of their money on candy. SELECT UserId, SUM(Money_Spent), SUM(Money_Spent_On_Candy) / SUM(Money_Spent) AS PercentCandySpend FROM MoneyTable WHERE DATE >= '2010-01-01' HAVING PercentCandySpend > 0.1;

  I am using dojo datagrid to display my data. When the end user edit the cell values it should be updated in the server using ajax calls(when the focus goes out of the cell). Else, I should have a Edit & update/cancel buttons for each row to handle the same feature. But I don know how to place edit & update buttons inside the grid and capture their events. By default dojo updates only local the store value(client side). how can I save the updated cell values into the server? do we need to write any override methods to do so?? I am new to dojo. Any detailed explanation or sample codes would be much appreciated. Could anyone lend a hand to solve this issue?? Thank you Regards, Raj

• Django development targeting both the Google App Engine and Py2Exe

  I must hand in a mostly static database-driven website on a topic on my choice by the end of June as both a hosted version live on the internet and a stored version on a cd-rom. "Ease of launching" is one of the bulletpoints for evaluation of the project. (Yeah, I know.) I and my project mate are currently comparing various frameworks and technologies to help us deliver and deploy this as quickly and painlessly as possible. Theoretically, by using Django, I can target the Google App Engine (which I guess would provide us reliable, free-as-in-beer hosting) or the Py2Exe system + SQLLite (which I guess would make starting the website server from disk as hard as doubleclicking on an .exe file). Sounds better than what PHP and MySQL can ever hope to bring me, right? However, we need to target both Py2Exe and the GAE. How much of the differencies between these wildly different configurations are hidden by Django? What will instead require special attention and possibly specialized code on my end?

It has an explicit zero-arg constructor that simply calls super(). However, when GWT starts up, I get this error: 00:00:18.359 [ERROR] Rebind result 'com.mystuff.mypackage.FileUploadPanel.ValidatingFileUpload' has no default (zero argument) constructors. java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.mystuff.mypackage.FileUploadPanel$ValidatingFileUpload.<init>() Any idea what might be going wrong here?

  Hello, I have the following table Persons_Companies that shows a relation between persons and companies knowns by these persons: PersonID | CompanyID 1 1 2 1 2 2 3 2 4 2 Imaging that company 1="Google" and company 2 is ="Microsoft", i would like to know the query to have the following result: PersonID | Microsoft | Google 1 0 1 2 1 1 3 1 0 4 1 0 Until this moment i have something similar: select PersonID, case when CompanyID=1 then 1 else 0 end as Google, case when EmpresaID=2 then 1 else 0 end as Microsoft from Persons_Companies My problem is with the persons that knows both companies, i cant imagine how could this query be.   Hi there I'm writing a brush for Alex Gorbatchev's Syntax Highlighter to get highlighting for Smalltalk code. Now, consider the following Smalltalk code: aCollection do: [ :each | each shout ] I want to find the block argument ":each" and then match "each" every time it occurrs afterwards (for simplicity, let's say every occurrence an not just inside the brackets). Note that the argument can have any name, e.g. ":myArg". My attempt to match ":each": \:([\d\w]+) This seems to work. The problem is for me to match the occurrences of "each". I thought something like this could work: \:([\d\w]+)|\1 but the right hand side of the alternation seems to be treated as an independent expression, so backreferencing doesn't work. So my question is: is it even possible to accomplish what I want in a single expression? Or would I have to use the backreference within a second expression (via another function call)? Cheers.

• What's going to replace HTML & CSS & JS?

  HTML and CSS are showing their age. SASS generates CSS (because CSS isn't clean enough). Graphic Designers don't work in HTML, they work in graphics tools then have to translate it to HTML/CSS. JavaScript has to have abstractions like jQuery, and CSS has a bunch of hacks to even start approaching consistent predictable user experience. It feels like people are doing some wonderful things despite the technologies, not because of them. Surely there is a better way?!? Something more closely aligned with the task at hand.. of providing a fluid intuitive (consistent) user experience to let users achieve their goals. Thoughts?

I have geometric shapes like triangle, hexagon, pentagon, diamond, square,parallelogram, rectangle, etc. I have drawn all these shapes using mspaint. i have one picture box, using opendialog i am selecting any of the geometric shapes, into picturebox. I want to identify the shape of the image & extreme points. As it is hand made image, i want to draw a proper image using extreme points. • FireLog: proper installation...

  I have installed the firewiresdk26 on my dev mac... and in the Tools/ directory is FireLog. I have run the FireLog 2.0.0.pkg installer on my dev mac, but the payload it deploys is installed in my /System/Library tree, as opposed to my /Developer/SDKs tree. so when I try to include the header iokit/firewire/FireLog.h it does not get found. am I missing something? or doing something wrong? or is this an error in the installer (either FW26 or FireLog installers?) I realize that the FireLog installer is intended to be run on the machine to be debugged remotely and thus it makes sense that the framework is placed in the /System/Library path, however none of the installers gets it into my developer path... I guess I just have to move it over there by hand, but before I do that I wanted to see if I'm just overlooking something silly and need to read the docs with more concentration or something... anyone run into this before? • TryGetObjectByKey... empty ObjectSets

  When I use TryGetObjectByKey on my ObjectContext, it returns an error. An item with a duplicate value already exists. When I look at my objectContext, I see that the ObjectSets are empty. What Am I doing wrong... When I enumerate the ObjectSet by hand, by using ToArray on it, or by using the debugger, it does work. LazyLoadingEnabled = true. I reuse 2 tables from another EDMX, but they are in different namespaces and they are not the objectSets i try to approach.

• Programmatic use of ARP

  I have a need for some C or C++ code, compilable under Linux, to be able to take a list of IP addresses of some arbitrary number of remote hosts machines and obtain a ethernet MAC address for each one. These host machines may be on the same subnet or they could be on a different subnet behind a router. Its OK if the MAC address of some or all of the remote hosts is the address of the interface on the router. Ultimately, I want to hand off the IP address and MAC address to an FPGA who will use these pieces of information to format and send UDP/IP packets over ethernet to the hosts. Obviously, the FPGA will also be given its own MAC address and IP address to fill in the source MAC and source IP addresses in the packets. Is there some code I can be pointed to that can create and broadcast ARP packets to these remote machines and receive back the ARP response packets such that the destination MAC addresses can be extracted?

  Hi there. I've been trying to solve this problem for a few days now but it seems I haven't grasped the concept of recursion,yet. I have to build a program in C (recursion is a must here but loops are allowed as well) which does the following: The user inputs 2 different strings.For example: String 1 - ABC String 2 - DE The program is supposed to print strings which are combined of the ones the user has entered. the rule is that the inner order of the letters in each string (1&2) must remain. That's the output for string1=ABC & string2=DE ": abcde abdce abdec adbce adbec adebc dabce dabec daebc deabc If anyone could give me a hand here, it would be great. Thanks guys.

• BigDecimal serialization in GWT

  What is your preferred approach to serializing BigDecimal in GWT? Are there any clever workarounds, or do you simply use Double or String? Of all of the GWT pains this is so far the biggest; I'd hate to create two models, one for server and one for GWT, and transform data from one to the other. On the other hand, while I don't care much about using String instead of, say, javax.xml.datatype.Duration, I have to use BigDecimal on the server because of the calculations, which means either two models and conversion, or tons of tiny conversions to BigDecimal for every calculation.

• asn.1 parser in C/Python

  I am looking for a solution to parse asn.1 spec files and generate a decoder from those. Ideally I would like to work with Python modules, but if nothing is available I would use C/C++ libraries and interface them with Python with the plethora of solutions out there. In the past I have been using pyasn1 and building everything by hand but that has become too unwieldly. I have also looked superficially to libtasn1 and asn1c. The first one had problems parsing even the simplest of files. The second has a good parser but generating C code for decoding seems too complex; the solution worked well with straightforward specs but choked on complex ones. Any other good alternatives I may have overlooked?

• How can I get the Visual Studio 2010 converstion wizard to come back up?

  When I first opened my website project with Visual Studio 2010 the conversion wizard came up and I said that I didn't want to convert the project. Now I'm ready to convert the project, but I can't find a shortcut or a way to get it back? I tried to remove the suo file, and that didn't do it. If I go into the project properties I can switch the target framework to 4.0, but that tells me it's going to close and reopen the project and I'll have to adjust the pages by hand - doesn't seem like very much fun. Anyone know how to get it to prompt again, or even a command line that would run it? Thank you!

• How do I create many-one relationships using Scaffold?

  I'm new to Ruby on Rails, and I'm trying to create a bass guitar tutor in order to teach myself RoR (and bass guitar). The walkthroughs use Scaffold to create ActiveRecord classes, but they seem to correspond to standalone tables; there's no use of belongs_to or has_many. I'd like to create three classes: Scale, GuitarString, and Fret. Each Scale has many GuitarStrings, which each have many Frets. How do I create classes with this relationship using Scaffold? Is there a way to do it in one go, or do I need to create them in an unrelated state using Scaffold, then add the relations by hand? Or should I ditch Scaffold entirely?

• GWT PagingScrollTable ( set a style on a particular cell of the header table )

  I have a column Definition for each colume that extends AbstractColumnDefinition these columns are put in a DefaultTableDefinition PART OF a PagingScrollTable example: NAME | SIZE | RES | DELETE | this style (AT THE END OF THE PAGE ) is added to the column names if you notice all of them are with a cursor pointer , meaning a hand shows up when i hover above each one. I want to remove the cursor for some cells in the header like delete. HOW DO YOU set/add/remove a style on a particular cell of the header table of a PagingScrollTable? • Creating Zend_Form elements from row html

  Hi there, I am having an issue with Zend_Form and your help will be appreciated. in fact I have a class to generate categories as options $categories = My_Util_Category::toHtmlSelect();//for simplicity I removed other lines this code generates <select> <option > root</option> <option> root / children</option> </select> On another hand, I use Zend_Form form to edit categories. The code looks like: $form = My_Form_Category( $data, $selectElements = array() ); which outputs a form, text field, a select box for parent categories and a submit button. How can I get 'select element' from $form, and replace it with row html 'select' generated with $categories any help, or link will be appreciated. Thanks.
