  • Excel Data Organization: Array Formulas? Tables? Named Range?

    I'm trying to make a huge Excel sheet reasonably maintainable, but it's huge in the "hundred-table-db" direction, rather than the "hundred-thousand-row-table" direction. I want to have a baseline data table that looks something like this: | Indicator | Units | 2010 | 2015 | 2020 | 2025 | Source | | GDP | $Gazillion | 300 | 350 | 400 | 450 | BLS | | Population | Millions | 350 | 400 | 450 | 500 | Census | | PetMonkeyPopulation | Thousands | 50 | 60 | 70 | 80 | SimiansRUs | And then be able to have another sheet that looks like: | | 2010 | 2015 | 2020 | 2025 | | MonkeysPerCapita | .1 | .2 | .3 | .4 | | MonkeysPerDollar | .01 | .01 | .01 | .01 | | GDPPerCapita | 300 | 400 | 450 | 600 | Is there some standard way to make this kind of thing maintainable?

  • Export-Mailbox - "an unknown error has occurred"

    I am trying to move messages from a rather large mailbox to an archive mailbox. However I run into errors all the time. the command I am executing is Export-Mailbox -Identity MAILBOX_FROM -TargetMailbox ARCHIVE -TargetFolder ARCHIVE_FOLDER -StartDate 2009-02-01 -EndDate 2009-02-28 -DeleteContent -Confirm:$false I can copy/move some messages, but run into frequent "an unknown error has occurred" (statuscode -1056749164) I run the console as administrative user, and all permissions are set right, as far as I can tell. I've restricted the start and end dates in case the number of messages moved/deleted should create problems. Anything I am missing in my setup? Corrupted messages? Over-limit message sizes?

    All, I am using export-mailbox to move some data and it is working fine until I get this error: StatusMessage : Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error: MAPI or an unspecified service provider. ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000 This is the command I am using: export-mailbox -identity mailboxA -targetmailbox mailboxB -targetfolder folderA -allowmerge We are on SP2 and I am running this under an account that is not a domain or enterprise admin. THe account has Exchange Server Administrator Permission Both Source and Target Exchange Mailbox Server. THe account is part of the Local Administrators Group Member Both Source and Target Exchange Mailbox Server. This account has Full Access permission on both the target and source servers. THe issue happens at any time and I am only trying to run this on one mailbox, the only mailbox I need to run it on. THe event log is "Error Exchange Migration Export Mailbox Event 1008". The log under migration logs just shows that it was running okay then it gives the same error as above "Error was found for mailboxA ([email protected]) because: Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error: MAPI or an unspecified service provider. ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000, error code: -1056749164" Any ideas on what to do/try?

  • How to change a function/formula in a whole column where I also have empty cells

    I have a column with a formula/function that has other cells as parameters. However in the column, every few rows I have a subtotal and blanks, for readability. Now I decided to change the formula/function but I can not do copy+paste on the whole column because of the subtotals/blank cells, and I can not do change+replace because there are parameters in the functions that uses other cells and thus it is different in each cell in the column. For example, if the formula is =if(A5>24,1,"") and I want to change it to =AA_userfn(A5,B5) Any idea how to change it easily? currently I copy+paste few rows at a time, but that is tedious. Maybe a Sub that will go all over the column (the column number as an input parameter) and looks for =if(, and then replaces it with =aa_userfn(Ax, By) where Ax and By are calculated based on the position of the cell currently changed in reference to the previous values in that cell. Any ideas will be welcomed

  • Why does my font in the OneNote 2010 beta keep changing back to a non-default?

    In OneNote options I've set a particular default font. Then I selected all text in a particular notebook section and change it to the new font. However, whenever I insert a new line in that existing body of text, it reverts to a font that isn't my default. Almost as if the incorrect "style" information is somehow embedded in the existing text, even though the text itself is the correct font. How can I resolve this?

  • migrate SharePoint to SBS Server

    We have a SharePoint 2003 server and we need to migrate that data to SharePoint 2011 on a SBS server. We cannot use the migration tool because one of the servers is SBS and the other is not. We exported the SharePoint data from the old system, but the import to the SBS SharePoint is failing with very little info on why. I think that there is a schema conflict, but I am not that familiar with SBS and I am not finding the error in the Windows logs. Has anyone had to migrate data from non-SBS system to an SBS system? Or can anyone help me figure out where to look for more info on what is going on?

  • Underbraces in Word math zones and dealing with stretchy parentheses

    Parentheses in Word usually stretch with whatever they're containing. This might be un-noticeable for things like but for stuff like it's definitely nice, especially compared to the fact that naïve LaTeX users often produce uglinesses such as There is a problem, however, when using under-/overbraces in math and putting parentheses around the complete term it becomes ugly. For simple things like shown here this can be solved by not letting the parentheses stretch which looks almost right. However, for more complex things it's certainly not an option: Both variants look horrible. So is there a way of letting the parentheses only stretch around the actual term parts, not including the under-/overbraces? Those are frequently used for annotations of individual pieces, so simply not using them is a bad idea too. In LaTeX you can get away with guesswork and using explicit sizes for the parentheses instead of relying on \left and \right but I haven't found a comparable option in Word yet. Since the underbrace is (tree-wise) a sibling of the term in parentheses it probably simply has to stretch and there probably can't be an algorithm that determines when to stretch or when not, considering that \above and \below are used for annotations as well but also for other things where perentheses have to stretch. Also, since the parenthesized expression is opaque from the outside one has to put the underbrace inside. From a markup point of view, at least. One can probably draw the rest around but that falls apart when styles change and wouldn't be a good idea either.

  • Conditional formatting with date and time

    I have a problem on conditional formatting with date and time. I hava a cell A1 that has date and time and I want to conditionally format its adjecent cell if the value of cell A1 is greater than 3 days compared to today, then cell A2 should show as "Follow-up Required" and cell colour should turn red no. if cell value of A1 is less than 3 days compared to today, no action is required.   • Inverted question mark only on Microsoft Office applications

    My dad has a notebook and the key which has the "/?°" symbols acts like ctrl. Known factory problem. Anyway, his keyboard also has a "?" marked under the "w" key. Pressing ctrl + alt + w will display the "?" character (question, interrogation mark). Except on Office applications, like Word and Outlook, which will output "¿". I've searched Word and Outlook menus looking for a parameter that could be, somehow, remapping the notebooks keyboards, applying different regional configurations, language, or encodings. Since it only happens on Office apps, I believe the solution is within its options, but I was unable to find it where. Pressing ctrl + alt gr + w will display ? correctly, but I am stumped by this problem. I could remap the keys and make "/?° behave correctly, but my curiosity now is eating me alive. Why only on Office?

  • How can I move mysites to a new location

    I recently restored my content and was instructed to create mysites in a different location than was originally used. Now I have several users mysites in /personal. The new desired location is /mysites. From what I found in the documentation I should back them up and restore them to the new location. Here's what I've done: Backup individual site collection for user mysite stsadm -o backup -url "https://myUrl/personal/john_smith" -filename johnsmith.bkup Restore individual site collection for user mysite stsadm -o restore -url "https://myUrl/mysites/john_smith" -filename johnsmith.bkup -overwrite The result of this and the problem is when i enumerate sites i end up with this: <Site Url="https://myUrl/mysites" Owner="domainname\john.smith" ContentDatabase="WSS_Content_MySites" StorageUsedMB="1.6" StorageWarningMB="90000" StorageMaxMB="100000" /> it leaves off the username part of the url. and if I restore more that one they want to overwrite each other.

    Im pretty new to sharepoint and what i would like to do is create a huge master list of all our employees and then make diffrent "views" on that person depending on the persons group for example a new employe might have sallery info security info personel info contract info i would like to have all that in on row (per employee) but then when someone from the hr group logs in they can only see personel and salery or something like that If that is not an option is there a way to link tables across different lists?

  • opath syntax to force dynamic distribution group field as numerical comparison? (Exchange 2010)

    I'm upgrading a (working) query based group (Exchange 2003) to a new and 'improved' dynamic distribution group (2010). For better or worse, our company decided to store everyone's employee ID in the pager field, so it's easy to manipulate via ADUC. That employee number has significance, as all employees are in a certain range, and all contractors are in a very different range. Basically, the new opath syntax appears to be using string compare on my pager field, even though it's a number. Let's say my employee ID is 3004, well, it's "less than" 4 from a string check POV. Set-DynamicDistributionGroup -Identity "my-funky-new-group" -RecipientFilter "(pager -lt 4) -and (pager -like '*') -and (RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox')" Shows up in EMC with this: ((((((Pager -lt '4') -and (Pager -ne $null))) -and (RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox'))) -and (-not(Name -like 'SystemMailbox{*')) -and (-not(Name -like 'CAS_{*')) -and (-not(RecipientTypeDetailsValue -eq 'MailboxPlan')) -and (-not(RecipientTypeDetailsValue -eq 'DiscoveryMailbox')) -and (-not(RecipientTypeDetailsValue -eq 'ArbitrationMailbox'))) This group should have max of 3 members right? Nope - I get a ton because of the string compare. I show up, and I'm in the 3000 range. Question: Anyone know a clever way to force this to be an integer check? The read-only LDAP filter on this group looks good, but of course it can't be edited. The LDAP representation (look ma, no quotes on the 4!) - Also interesting it sort of 'fills the' bed with the (pager=4) thing... (&(pager<=4)(!(pager=4))(pager=*)(objectClass=user)(objectCategory=person)(mailNickname=*)(msExchHomeServerName=*)(!(name=SystemMailbox{*))(!(name=CAS_{*))!(msExchRecipientTypeDetails=16777216))(!(msExchRecipientTypeDetails=536870912))(!(msExchRecipientTypeDetails=8388608))) If there is no solution, I suppose my recourse is either finding an unused field that actually will be treated as an integer, or most likely building this list with powershell every morning with my own automation - lame. I know of a few ways to fix this outside of the opath filter (designate "full-time" in another field, etc.), but would rather exchange do the lifting since this is the environment at the moment.   • Use Outlook password for website verification

    I am currently building an internal employee dashboard for our global company (it is hosted on an external website for logistical reasons) I'd like (need) to password protect the page as we will be displaying sensitive information, my question is, is it possible to integrate with Outlook passwords? We have over 350 staff all of whom use outlook on a daily basis, I'd love for the website to check whether the visitor is logged into Outlook and if they're not, prompt them to log in. Is it possible?? If it is I'll get is developed straight away.
