• I need a very simple PHP database front-end admin panel; a simple records editor for a specified tab

  Hi there, I am looking to add some dynamics to our corporate website. This is a secondary role so I'd rather not be spending a ton of time on it. At this point, all I need is a simple PHP script where a non-technical user can pull up and manage the records in a MySQL table. There's only one table of data to be managed; it's just that it will be accessed and updated quite frequently. I recall that Grails' default scaffolding feature has precisely this: list of entries with the ability to add, edit and delete, with no nonsense. What would be the best tool to use for this? I would rather not be writing it from scratch, as this will take me quite some time. It seems like the kind of thing that ought to exist somewhere. Thanks!

  Well I have this - Table DimDate- Date Table Employee- Id,Name,Points,Date Now the Employee table has points for everyday unless they did not come...so the Date does not have all the Dates entries... I mean for e.g in a week he did not come for 2 days the Employee table has only 5 rows...so I have this dimdate table which has all the dates till 2050 which I want to join with and add Zeros for the dates he does not have points. So I have written this query but does not work - Select E.EmployeeId,D.Date,isNull(E.Points,0) from DimDate D left join Employee E on D.Date between '01-01-2009'and '06-01-2009' where E.EmployeeId=1 The above query give multiple dates and I tried group by on Date but does not work.

• SSIS Migration - Pulling IDs from dest DB?

  So I'm working on migrating some data to a new server. In the new server, each entry in the MAIN table is assigned a new GUID when the transfer takes place. A few other tables must be migrated, and their records must link to the GUID in the MAIN table. Example... WorksheetID --- GUID 1245677903 --- 1 AccidentID --- WorksheetID --- Guid 12121412 --- 1245677903 --- 1 The guid is used moreso for versioning purposes, but my question is this. In SSIS, is there any way to pull the Worksheet's GUID from the destination database and assign it directly to the entries in the 'Accident' table? Or do I have to just dump the data into the source DB and run some scripts to get everything nicely referenced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hey guys I have a query and it works fine, but I want to add another table to the mix. The invite table I want to add has two fields: username and user_invite. Much like this site, I am using a point system to encourage diligent users. The current query which is displayed below adds the up votes and down votes based on the user in question: $creator. I want to count the number of entries for that same user from the invite table, and add 50 for each row it finds to the current output/sum of my query. Is this possible with one query, or do I need two? I am copying entries from one table to an "archive" table that has all the columns of the original, plus a couple extra ones. It feels sloppy to iterate through every object and manually define the mapping like: foreach (oldTable in dbContextOldTables) { var newTable = new NewTable(); newTable.TableID = oldTable.ID; newTable.Title = oldTable.Title; ...   Hello, I want to create a new customevent log ( "My EeventLog") on a remote machine. createEventSource(String,String,String) method was perferct for my need. Unfortenatly, this method is Obsolete. My questions is: the two other alternatives don't allow evenlog creation over a remote machine (correct me if I'm wrong). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.diagnostics.eventlog.createeventsource.aspx So, my easiest way to do it- is be created a new exe and run it remotely with Psexe. right?   Before posting my form I am checking the database to see if there are any previous posts from the user. If there are previous posts then the script will kick back a message saying you have already posted. • Best way to support large dropdowns

  Say I have a report that can be restricted by specifying some value in a dropdown. This dropdown list references a table with 30,000 records. I don't think this would be feasible to populate a dropdown with! So, what is the best way to provide the user the ability to select a value given this situation? These values do not really have categories and even if I subdivided (by having some nesting dropdown situation) by the first letter of the value, that may still leave a few thousand entries. What's the best way to deal with this?

• is there a limit of merge tables with Mysql ?

  I'm working on a database with mysql 5.0 for an open source project it's used to stored sentences in specific languages and their translations in other languages I used to have a big table "sentences" and "sentences_translations" (use to join sentences to sentences) table but has we have now near one million entries, this begin to be a bit slow, moreover, most of request are made using a "where lang =" so I've decided to create a table by language sentences_LANGUAGECODE and sentences_translation_LANGSOURCE_LANGTARGET and to create merge table like this sentences_ENG_OTHERS which merge sentences_ENG_ARA sentences_ENG_DEU etc... when we want to have the translations in all languages of an english sentence sentences_OTHERS_ENG when we want to have only the english translations of some sentences I've created a script to create all these tables (they're around 31 languages so more than 60 merge table), I've tested, that works really great a request which use to take 160ms now take only 30 :) but I discover that all my merge table after the 15th use to have "NULL" as type of storage engine instead of MRG_MYISAM, and if delete one, then I can create an others, using FLUSH table between each creation also allow me to create more merge tables so is this a limitation from mysql ? can we override it ? thanks for your answers

I can imagine that i could do this with 2 selects. (first select total number of users and then order the entries descending by age and select the first entry). • Embedded Java Databases for Large Data Sets

  I would like to port a PHP/MySQL-based client/server application to be a standalone desktop application written in Java. The database has grown to be fairly large, with several tables with hundreds of thousands of rows. I expect these could grow to over a million entries for certain tables. What embedded database would best handle this? HSQLDB and Sqlite seem to be the obvious choices, though I'm guessing there are others out there as well. My main priorities are the ability to perform queries on large amounts of data efficiently (this thread seems to confirm Sqlite can handle this) and the ease with which I can import old data from MySQL (I remember HSQLDB being kind of a pain for that). Note: I am aware that similar questions comparing embedded databases have been posted before (for example here and here) but as my priorities differ somewhat from most applications considering the large data migration I thought it justified a new question.

  I have a script where it accepts a varying number of arguments. I want to use func_get_args to perform operations on said arguments. If I have one function like this: function Something() { foreach(func_get_args($this) as $functions) { // Do something } // Return.. } I want to be able to call this function in, for example, another function to add/save entries. The add/save function would have arguments 'title', 'description' etc.. I basically want to know if there is a way to detect the context of a function call. Can I pass something to func_get_args that will let it know that its called in a certain function? So if I do: function Save($title, $desc) { $vars = $this->Something(); } I want $vars to contain $title and $desc after modifying them.

• Looping in filemaker using a local variable

  Been programming in C# for a little bit - trying to use file maker and I cant believe it but I cant even get a simple for loop to work. What I want to do is simple: loop through for the amount of entries in my "amountOfRooms" field and create an entry in a table for each room. Sounds so simple, but I cant get it to work. Right now I have this: Set Variable[$cnt[Customers::AmountOfRooms]; value:1] Go to Layout["rooms"(Rooms)] Loop Exit Loop If[$cnt = Customers::AmountOfRooms] New Record / Request Set Variable[$cnt; Value: $cnt + 1] End Loop Exit Script No new records are created. I know the script is running because it does go to my layout, but doesnt create any new records. There is a "Repetition" field for my local variable - not sure how to use that or what it means? Any thoughts on how to do this simple loop? Thanks.

• Ensuring uniqueness on a varchar greater than 255 in MYSQL/InnoDB

  I have a table which contains HTML entries for news pages. When I initially designed it I used URL as the primary key. I've learned the error of my ways because left-joining is super slow. So I want to redesign the table with an integer (id) primary key, but still keep the rows unique based on the URL. The problem is that I've found URLs longer than 255 characters, and MySQL isn't letting my create a key on the URL. I'm using an InnoDB/UTF8 table. From what I understand it's using multiple bytes per character with a limit of 766 bytes for the key (in InnoDB). I would really love suggestions on an elegant way of keeping the rows unique based on URL, while using an integer primary key. Thanks!

• MySQL: How to separate a name field in one table into firstname / lastname in two separate tables?

  I have a drupal database where the node table is full of profiles. The field node.title is "Firstname Lastname". I want to separate the names so that node.title = "Firstname", and over in another table entirely, content_type_profile.field_lastname_value = "Lastname". The entries in the two tables can be joined on the field nid. I'd love to run a SQL command to do this, and I am fine with taking the naive approach that the first word is the first name, and everything else in the field is last name -- it will mean a few manual corrections down the line, but that's much better than doing it all by hand in the first place. (I read this question and surely the answer lies in there but I am not that SQL-savvy and am not sure how to make it work for my database.) Thanks!

  I have mysql table called user(id, name, join_on) join on is a date field what I want is to show in each day how many uses has been created I can use group by but it will only give me the dates when users get added like if date 4/12/10 5 users added 4/13/10 2 users added 4/15/10 7 users added here date 4/14/10 is missing and I want listing of all dates in one month. I have one solution for it by creating another table only for adding date and that table will left join my users table on join_on and will give total result but I don't want to do that as for creating that I need to create and add entries in date table please suggest the different approach for doing so.   I have three tables where I store actual person data (person), teams (team) and entries (athlete). The schema of the three tables is: In each team there might be two or more athletes. I'm trying to create a query to produce the most frequent pairs, meaning people who play in teams of two. I came up with the following query: SELECT p1.surname, p1.name, p2.surname, p2.name, COUNT(*) AS freq FROM person p1, athlete a1, person p2, athlete a2 WHERE p1.id = a1.person_id AND p2.id = a2.person_id AND a1.team_id = a2.team_id AND a1.team_id IN ( SELECT id FROM team, athlete WHERE team.id = athlete.team_id GROUP BY team.id HAVING COUNT(*) = 2 ) GROUP BY p1.id ORDER BY freq DESC Obviously this is a resource consuming query. Is there a way to improve it?

Do the existence of other indices on the same model increase the likelihood of this failure? • VS2010 (older) installer project - two or more objects have the same target location.

  This installer project was created back in 2004 and upgraded ever since. There are two offending dll files, which produce a total of 4 errors. I have searched online for this warning message and did not find a permanent fix (I did manage to make it go away once until I have done something like a clean, or built in Release, and then in Debug). I also tried cleaning, and then refreshing the dependencies. The duplicated entries are still in there. I also did not find a good explanation for what this error means. Additional warnings are of this nature: Warning 36 The version of the .NET Framework launch condition '.NET Framework 4' does not match the selected .NET Framework bootstrapper package. Update the .NET Framework launch condition to match the version of the .NET Framework selected in the Prerequisites Dialog Box. So, where is this prerequisites box? I want to make both things agree on .Net 4.0, just having a hard time locating both of them.

I know it's possible because a lot of social search sites like spokeo achieve what I want and more, so does anyone know how they go about doing it or the best way to go about it? I have a basic idea of the facebook and twitter api calls I need to be making however feel free to add any advice or warnings there as well. • How should 4 decimals places behave, being simple yet powerful

  I have a UI question that troubled me on the best method to handle 4 decimal places for prices. In an table already cramped full of data, I would want to simplified the interface to make it not so cluttered. The actual current UI is shown below. http://i41.tinypic.com/bg5tub.jpg The problem is, for a unit price/units/D.Price and Dis.(Discount) to have 4 decimal places ($0.3459) is quite rare but it still happens (5 in 100 entries). This will result a lot of junk decimal places, cluttering up the interface. What is the best solution to this problem? In short, I want to declutter it yet maintain the precision.   Hello, I feel like I'm trying to do something simple but I am not getting the result I want. I want to display a basic number, that will always be positive. I do not want any leading zeros but I want thousands separators. For instance, for the following inputs, I want the following outputs: 3 -> 3 30 -> 30 300 -> 300 3000 -> 3,000 30000 -> 30,000 300000 -> 300,000 Currently, in an attempt to do this, I'm using the following formatting code: string text = "*Based on " + String.Format("{0:0,0}", total) + " entries"; Currently, the output looks like this: 3 -> 03 3000 -> 3,000 You can see how a leading "0" is added when the thousands separator is not necessary. How do I properly format my numbers? Thank you

• Eclipse does not recognize the file ID

  I'm trying to create a button in the application from one activity to another. The document resource/values/strings.xml created for this ID: <string name="button1name"> CID </ string> But the document GurovPictures.java (this is my main activity) when I insert a line: Button but1 = (Button) findViewById (R.id.button1); This "button1" does not become blue like "editText1". Do you happen to know how to fix it? Just the internet no entries found.
