  • From C# to JAVA

    Hi all, I don't know whether this is a valid question to ask here or not, but I made an attempt. I am basically a C# guy. But since the last 7 days I have been asked to work in java (J2SE 1.4) and I am working in that. and gradually I am finding interest in that. I want to learn more about it and since I am finding a lot of similarity between C# and Java(what ever I have gleaned + worked so far in those 7 days), I am planning to steer my career in that. But having spent for more than 2 years in C# and then moving to java, will it be a problem in future (say after 3/4 months) if I need to change my job.. I mean my most of the exp. lies in C# and just started JAVA. so how the technical panel will accept me if I need to change the platform? Thanks

    Hi, I have a Date class which wraps over the DateTime? class (aids in mocking DateTime.Now, our domain ,etc). The Date class class only has one protected property : DateTime? date public class Date { protected DateTime? date; } // mapping in hbm <component name="CompletedOn"> <property column="StartedOn" name="date" access="field" not-null="false" /> </component> From the nhibernate docs: Like all value types, components do not support shared references. The null value semantics of a component are ad hoc. When reloading the containing object, NHibernate will assume that if all component columns are null, then the entire component is null. This should be okay for most purposes. Can I override this behaviour? I want my Date class to be instantiated even if date is null. Thanks,

Question is using C# 3.0 feature like Linq, Lambda etc. can I rewrite the program. Why? Because I am learning linq and lambda and want to implement the same.   • Import Data from text file into sql DB using CSLA

    I am trying to import data from ~ Delimited Text file into SQL Server using CSLA. My text file has 92,000 records in it. Here are the issues i am having with the import When i create a BusinnessListBase .new and add all my records to it, it gives me a "Out of meory exception". So to fix it i create a new bussinessbase object and save it. this works fine and is much faster too. It takes 15 minutes I have to run my program again and check for any changes and hence update them, this is where it takes too much time. Is there any alternative way to speed up my import?

  • How to make selection color be "on top" when background color for any text element is set in Visual

    Faced problem while setting background color for any element in Visual Studio 2010 editor. Selection color doesn't override this background color. So then it's very inconvenient to work with selections in editor. Case when only string literal is selected it's almost impossible to distinguish colors and see what part of string is selected. Is there any possibility to fix the problem by changing some options? Or it's a Visual Studio bug?

    I have a small thing. public int GetSum(List<int> x) { foreach (int i in x) sum += i; return sum; } where x is a List of integers defined as List<int> l = new List<int>(); l.Add(4); l.Add(2); l.Add(5); l.Add(8); l.Add(6); and has been passed as GetSum(l) Is it possible to rewrite the above foreach loop using a lambda? Using jQuery I can use the .each() method. So I tried it, but it failed.     Hi,I have been stuck on this issue for quite some time now.Have read the documentation and many tutorials and they just confuse me more.I hope someone will provide me a straightforward answer.It's really important.Thank you.. Ok ..so i want an activity to get some input from the user as and then send that string to a service.Then i want my service to run in a way so that i can use other applications while this one keeps running in the background.Also i don't want the service to keep running every second.What i want is for the service to get updated location of my current position every 10 minutes so i was thinkin if there could be a way to make my service to go to sleep n wake up evry 10 mins n check for updates.I don't want to show the update on the UI so i dont think i need to use an AIDL approach and also dont need to bind to the service.I js simply want to start the service as soon as the user enters the string and keep the service runing every 10 mins.I think it is really simple but m very confused.Please help.

    I am trying to test out writing a dictionary to a plist. The following code does not report any errors, but I cannot find any trace of the file that I supposed wrote. Here is the code snippet: NSDictionary *myDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"First letter of the alphabet", @"A", @"Second letter of the alphabet", @"B", @"Third letter of the alphabet", @"C", nil ]; I can see the dictionary contents displayed properly with either method calls: NSLog(@"Here is my partial dictionary %@", myDictionary); for (NSString *key in myDictionary) NSLog(@"here it is again %@ %@", key, [myDictionary objectForKey:key]); The following code displays the "succeeded" message when the program is run repeatedly if ([myDictionary writeToFile: @"myDictionary" atomically:YES ] == NO) NSLog(@"write to file failed"); else NSLog(@"write to file succeeded"); even when changing the atomically: argument to NO to not write a temporary file. However, when I search my current directory, or even my entire Mac, I cannot find any file called "myDictionary.plist" or any file with the string "myDictionary". Isn't the path variable "@myDictionary" supposed to represent the file at the current directory, i.e. where the class executable resides?

Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near 'The server rejected '. actually is not giving me error on localhost, i have uploaded it on 2 other different server on 1 server its working fine but on other server its giving me above error.     I have got a table which contains 5 column and query requirements: update row no 8 (or id=8) set its column 2, column 3's value from id 9th column 2, column 3 value. means all value of column 2, 3 should be shifted to column 2, 3 of upper row (start from row no 8) and value of last row's 2, 3 will be null For example, with just 3 rows, the first row is untouched, the second to N-1th rows are shifted once, and the Nth row has nulls. id math science sst hindi english 1 11 12 13 14 15 2 21 22 23 24 25 3 31 32 33 34 35 The result of query of id=2 should be: id math science sst hindi english 1 11 12 13 14 15 2 31 32 23 24 25 //value of 3rd row (col 2,3) shifted to row 2 3 null null 33 34 35 This process should run for all rows whose id 2 Please help me to create this update query I am using MS sqlserver 2005
