• Creating a Custom Compound Button Bar

  I have to create a custom compound button bar control in Android like the one here. To create a button bar like this, I am thinking of extending a LinearLayout and add my buttons to it. The buttons have a black background but with a gradient fill; I am not keen on using PNGs since the color of the buttons can change at runtime. How can I get similar effect in Android? Thanks.

  I need to take a url, "/ServiceSearch/r.php?n=blahblah", and have it go to "/search/blahblah/" so that it appears in the browser as "/search/blahblah", but I actually want it to REALLY be going to "r.php?n=ServiceSearch&n=blahblah".. So I was thinking I'll need to rewrite the first URL to "/ServiceSearch/r.php?n=blahblah" and then the second url, "/search/blahblah/", to the third, "r.php?n=ServiceSearch&n=blahblah". Well, I know this is wrong, but it's my best guess. I'm really struggling with it.

• which way is correct to retrive data from oracle??

  before answer me plz thinking about the futures of these kind of program and answer me plz. I wanna get some data from oracle server like: 1-get all the function,package,procedure and etc for showing them or drop them & etc... 2-compile my *.sql files,get the result if they have problem & etc... becuz I was beginner in oracle first of all I for solve the second problem I try to connect to sqlPlus by RUN sqlplus and trace the output(I mean,I change the output stream of shell and trace what happend and handle the assigned message to customer. NOW THIS PART SUCCEED. just a little bit I have problem with get all result because the output is asynchronous.any way... [in this case I log in to oracle Server by send argument to the sqlplus by make a process in c#] after that I try to get all function,package or procedure name,but I have problem in speed!so I try to use oracle.DataAccess.dll to connect the database. now I m so confusing about: which way is correct way to build a program that work like Oracle Developer! I do not have any experience for like these program how work. If Your answer is I must use the second way follow this part plz: I search a little bit the Golden,PLedit (Benthic software),I have little bit problem how I must create the connection string?because I thinking about how I can find the host name or port number that oracle work on them?? am I need read the TNSNames.Ora file? IF your answer is I must use the first way follow this part plz: do u have any Idea for how I parse the output?because for example the result of a table is so confusing...[i can handle & program it but I really need someone experience,because the important things to me learn how such software work so nice and with quick response?] All of the has different style in output... • In MS Access form, how to color background of selected record?

  I have a somewhat complicated looking Access Form with a continuous display (meaning multiple records are shown at once). I'd like to change the background color of the selected record only so the end-user can easily tell which record they are on. I'm thinking of perhaps a conditional format or maybe something like this: Private Sub Detail_HasFocus() Detail.BackColor(me.color)=vbBlue End Sub and something similar for when that row loses focus. This code snippet obviously won't work, but it's the kind of code I'd like to achieve.

  Ok SO, I have a user table and want to define groups of users together. The best solution I have for this is to create three database tables as follows: UserTable user_id user_name UserGroupLink group_id member_id GroupInfo group_id group_name This method keeps the member and group information separate. This is just my way of thinking. Is there a better way to do this? Also, what is a good naming convention for tables that link two other tables?

• How significant are JPA lazy loading performance benefits?

  I understand that this is highly specific to the concrete application, but I'm just wondering what's the general opinion, or at least some personal experiences on the issue. I have an aversion towards the 'open session in view' pattern, so to avoid it, I'm thinking about simply fetching everything small eagerly, and using queries in the service layer to fetch larger stuff. Has anyone used this and regretted it? And is there maybe some elegant solution to lazy loading in the view layer that I'm not aware of?

But the items in the this.Controls collection are not of type Control (they are Object). I can't seem to remember the safe way to cast this to call hide if it is really of type Control and do nothing otherwise.   I have an array of CGPoints, and I'd like to fill the whole screen with colours, the colour of each pixel depending on the total distance to each of the points in the array. The natural way to do this is to, for each pixel, compute the total distance, and turn that into a colour. Questions follow: 1) How can I colour a single pixel in Quartz? I've been thinking of making 1 by 1 rectangles. 2) Are there better, more efficient ways to achieve this effect?

  I'm currently running a query like this: SELECT * FROM email WHERE email_address LIKE 'ajones@%' OR email_address LIKE 'bsmith@%' OR email_address LIKE 'cjohnson@%' The large number of OR's bothers me. Is there a way to condense this up with something akin to an IN operator, e.g.: SELECT * FROM email WHERE email_address LIKE ('ajones@%', 'bsmith@%', 'cjohnson@%') Or is this just wishful thinking?
