• Why did I get a 400 Bad Request when getting a page with PHP Curl?

  Hi, I was trying to access a page using curl. I could access it perfectly using the browser and using "static" strings as the URL, like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=1234" But when I tried to access the page using a variable in the URL string like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=$param" I got a 400 error code. I checked out on the web and found some comments here in this stackoverflow thread: Then, just for curiosity I did the following: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=" . trim($param); and it worked! And no, $param did NOT contain any spaces. To me, it seems that it can be some encoding error, but I really can't find an explanation for it. Does anyone here in stackoverflow know what it can possibly be? Thanks in advance :)

• WPF C#: Starting crash due to client 'Region and Language' settings

  Hi, I'm working on a WPF C# application, and it seems to crash with a few random people. So eventually I found out it was the 'Region and Language' settings that was responsible. For example, if I were to set my Format to English (United States) it will work, if I set it to Swedish (Sweden) it will crash from the start. When I test this in Visual Studio 2010 it gives error 'TypeInitializationException'. More precisely it does it here (it doesn't get passed the InitializeComponent() void): private void RadioButton_Checked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Info.SortOrder = SortBy.Rank; } It claims the error at the first line, which is just setting an enum value to a variable. I guess it's just doing it there because it's the first thing it makes, or something. Anyone has any idea how to fix this? I've searched around but can't seem to find out how :( Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

  Why does an ampersand in URL cause failure of the following command? I want to open a web page by running Safari in Terminal, placing the URL as an argument. This works as expected: open -a safari "http://endic.naver.com/search.nhn?sLn=en&searchOption=all&query=good" But once the quotes being removed, it wouldn't work as expected: open -a safari http://endic.naver.com/search.nhn?sLn=en&searchOption=all&query=good Instead, it returns: [3] 5395 [4] 5396 [1] Done open -a safari http://endic.naver.com/search.nhn?sLn=en [2] Done searchOption=all Seems like ampersand in the URL was treated as "running previous command in the background", though there is no space following the ampersand in the URL.

• Unresolved External Symbol

  I am working on wrapping a large number of .h and .lib files from native C++ to Managed C++ for eventual use as a referenced .dll in C#. I have the .lib files linked in and everything has been going smoothly so far. Upon wrapping the latest .h file, I hit a snag when 2 functions came back with the link error: error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__htonl@4 referenced in function "public: void __thiscall Field::setCharacter(unsigned char,int)" (?setCharacter@Field@@QAEXEH@Z) myutils.lib I have referenced "myutils.lib" in the linker options, so that shouldn't be the issue. What's strange is that I have about 20 functions in this particular .h file and all of the rest are linking just fine except for 3 functions. Any ideas?

• Tell Xcode to ignore a header for some targets?

  I have an Xcode project with a mac target and an iOS target. The project contains a class IPhoneOnlyClass which is used in the iOS target only. I have unchecked IPhoneOnlyClass.m from the mac target so it doesn't compile that file. Now IphoneOnlyClass.h contains the line #import <GameKit/GameKit.h> When I am compiling for the mac target, Xcode gives me an error: error: GameKit/GameKit.h: No such file or directory I could get around this with a #ifdef, but is there a better way? I'd rather tell Xcode to ignore the header altogether when compiling the mac target.

Why? Is this too large? How can i fix it? • XAML Multi-Level Binding Source/Path Issue

  So I have this issue I've been trying various ways to tackle all day and nothing's catching and working for it. Basically I have a XAML object called ChromeWindow (derived from Window) which has in it's code-behind a DependencyProperty called AppChrome which stores a reference to an associated ApplicationChrome XAML object (derived from UserControl). ApplicationChrome's XAML file has a few x:Name'd objects (a TextBlock and Border for instance) to which I want to bind to from the ChromeWindow's XAML. The root of the ChromeWindow is x:Name'd as 'rootWindow' in the XAML, so I figured one of these bindings would work: {Binding ElementName=rootWindow, Path=AppChrome.CaptionTextBlock.Text, Mode=OneWay} But that complains of a BindingExpression path error such that the property 'CaptionTextBlock' (an x:Name'd TextBlock in AppChrome's XAML) cannot be found on object of type ApplicationChrome So I tried this binding intead: {Binding Source=AppChrome.CaptionTextBlock, Path=Text, Mode=OneWay} And still no luck, this time complaints of a BindingExpression path error again, but this time that it cannot find the 'CaptionTextBlock' property on object of type String I know I'm missing something really simple here, please help! ;D

I got the part of checking to make sure the log in information corresponds with the database information, but is stuck on how to take the email address and store into a session.   Users writing an article have the option to write some tags, tags are written like this: tag1, tag2, tag3 So tags are stored like: $tags = "tag1, tag2, tag3"; I want to make sure, every tag has a minimum of 3 characters, so i need to validate the tags. I have tried this: $tagsstring = explode(",", $tags); $tagslength = array_map('strlen', $tagsstring); if (min($tagslength) < 3) { echo "Error... Each tag has to be at least 3 characters."; } It seems to work, sometimes... But of you write: tag1, df It wont give an error. Any suggestions?

• In ASP.NET MVC, how does response.redirect work?

  I have used response.redirect in classic ASP and ASP.NET webforms. However, with MVC 2.0, I am running into something peculiar. I have a private method in a controller class that is used by multiple controller methods to help load and validate some information. This private method is setup to redirect if a problem is discovered to a generic error message page. The big problem I am noticing is that the calling controller class and page view attempt to complete rendering and loading before the redirect actually takes place. This is annoying in development because the View throws exceptions that I need to ignore before my generic error page finally loads. As mentioned above, I am used to the older model of response.redirect which prevented subsequent code on a page from being executed as the new page would then load. Any help or advice on redirects in MVC would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi all, the business logic in my application requires me to insert a row in table X when a row is inserted in table Y. Furthermore, it should only do it between specific times(which I have to query another table for). I have considered running a script every 5 minutes or so to check this, but I stumbled upon triggers and figured this might be a better way to do it. But I find the syntax for procedures a little bewildering and I keep getting an error I have no idea how to fix. • Visual Studio output file permissions?

  I'am using Visual Studio 2010, how to set or automatically change owner of the output file from Visual Studio (such as executable file) to user other than administrator? all output files currently is owned by Administrator (due to Visual studio is launch by administrative privilege), so sometime I can't delete those files due to access permissions. sometime visual studio itself can't delete it too (after i ran the executable) until few minutes, its really annoying when I need to rebuild those executable. anyone know what's the actual problem here? error message is : error LNK1168: cannot open [path to file].exe for writing

• When an active_record is saved, is it saved before or after its associated object(s)?

  In rails, when saving an active_record object, its associated objects will be saved as well. But has_one and has_many association have different order in saving objects. I have three simplified models: class Team < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :players has_one :coach end class Player < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end class Coach < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end I use the following code to test these models: t = Team.new team.coach = Coach.new team.save! team.save! returns true. But in another test: t = Team.new team.players << Player.new team.save! team.save! gives the following error: > ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: > Validation failed: Players is invalid I figured out that when team.save! is called, it first calls player.save!. player needs to validate the presence of the id of the associated team. But at the time player.save! is called, team hasn't been saved yet, and therefore, team_id doesn't yet exist for player. This fails the player's validation, so the error occurs. But on the other hand, team is saved before coach.save!, otherwise the first example will get the same error as the second one. So I've concluded that when a has_many bs, a.save! will save bs prior to a. When a has_one b, a.save! will save a prior to b. If I am right, why is this the case? It doesn't seem logical to me. Why do has_one and has_many association have different order in saving? Any ideas? And is there any way I can change the order? Say I want to have the same saving order for both has_one and has_many. • Why Does TFS Allow Orphaned Content and How Do I Get Rid of It?

  My TfsVersionControl database has grown to 40+ GB in size. We recently did a TFS Destroy on a folder tree that should have cleared up at least 10 GB but instead it seemed to have no effect. When I look at the tables in TfsVersionControl, I am first shocked to see that there are no foreign keys at all in the database. Running a few queries, I see that there is some orphaning going on: tbl_Content has 13.9 GB of records that don't have a related tbl_File record tbl_File and tbl_Content have 2.4 GB that don't have a related tbl_Namespace record The cleanup job seems to be running nightly (prc_DeleteUnusedContent) and running it against the database manually doesn't remove any orphans. I see in the log for the cleanup job that it failed on 3/16, which is the morning after I destroyed the large amount of data. The error was due to a full transaction log. Could that error be the reason I'm left with all this orphaned data that can't be deleted? How can I permanently destroy this unneeded content?

• Can't connect to MySQL database hosted in CloudBees

  I have a free CloudBees account and created a free ClearDB database using their wizards. My trouble is when I use their connection information (whether I try to connect from my Java app, or an outside tool - SQLyog to be exact) I take the error: Access denied for user 'b51dbc5757d79f'@'%' to database 'mywiki. The username provided by CloudBees does not contain those extra characters that the error message is displaying which seems like it would be a problem, but I'm not sure there is anything I can do about that since everything is configured for me. The username I am given is: b51dbc5757d79f - which I can delete and rebuild after sharing here :)

  Hello, I have a stored procedure, which has got executed without any errors, but gives me an error "#1054: Unknown column 'templateName' in where clause" when I run it.   Like in Oracle VARCHAR( 60 CHAR ) I would like to specify a varchar field with variable length depending on the inserted characters. for example: create table X (text varchar(3)) insert into X (text) VALUES ('äöü') Should be possible (with UTF8 as the default charset of the database). On DB2 I got this Error: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-302, SQLSTATE=22001 (Character data, right truncation occurred; for example, an update or insert value is a string that is too long for the column, or a datetime value cannot be assigned to a host variable, because it is too small.) I'm looking for solutions for DB2, MsSql, MySql, Hypersonic.

• Image Replacement (JS/JQuery) working in IE but not FF

  I have tried multiple solutions for replacing broken images (both JS & jQuery) and all work perfectly with IE but not in FF, is there a reason for this? Are images handled differently in FF that may cause this? JQuery Example: $("img").error(function(){ $(this).unbind("error").attr("src", "nopic.jpg"); }); Javascript Example: (triggered by onError event in img tag) function noimage(img){ img.onerror=""; img.src="nopic.jpg"; return true; } Both of these examples work perfectly in IE but not at all in FF.
