• Direct flow depending on incoming dynamic type

  I have a listener class that accepts GUI change events in one method. The incoming event objects have a superclass of a type of GUI Event, the behaviour should depend on the dynamic type of the incoming variable. I wanted to do do lots of methods like: handleGUIEvent(EventChangedX event) handleGUIEvent(EventChangedY event) I am using a single event listener and receiving objects of various types but the behaviour should be different for each. What would you do? I do not want to use a switch statement as this would get unmaintainable.

• Any way to add an observer to the head of the queue using Element#observe?

  This might not be possible but before I rewrite part of my application I wanted to ask... I have a JavaScript app which creates a submit <input> and observes that input's click event using Prototype's Element#observe function. For a few particular pages on one particular site which uses this app, I need to apply some additional business logic before the code which executes normally when the button is clicked. Is there any way I can use Elemen#observe to add my new event handler before the existing event handler, so I can stop the event if these new conditions aren't met? If not I'll probably solve this the "proper" way by having the application fire a specific beforeTakingAction event and add a listener for that which prevents the application from taking it's action, but that's more complicated than this simple problem requires, and requires rewriting part of a shared application for just one user...

• How can I use multithreading in a Windows Forms application to update a progress bar?

  There are two objects. The Windows Form with a button and a progress bar, and another object that handles an algorithm. In the algorithm object there is an event, and a property. The event is ProgressChanged, and the property is Progress (which is an int). In the calling window, the button starts off a set of steps in the algorithm object. As each step (or substeps) occurs, the ProgressChanged event fires, and in the window there is an event handler that essentially increments the progress bar relative to the Progress property. The problem I am running into is that because the algorithm has a possibility (and high liklihood) of running a relatively long time, I need to move it into it's own background thread and push the event back up to the window. My issue is that I'm not completely sure what I'm doing when it comes to multi-threading. I've looked at Control.Invoke and I'm a little lost. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  I have an account, user_a, and I would like to grant all available permissions on some_db to user_b. I have tried the following query: GRANT ALTER, ALTER ROUTINE, CREATE, CREATE ROUTINE, CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES, CREATE VIEW, DELETE, DROP, EVENT, EXECUTE, INDEX, INSERT, LOCK TABLES, REFERENCES, SELECT, SHOW VIEW, TRIGGER, UPDATE ON `some_db`.* TO 'user_b'@'%' WITH GRANT OPTION The result: Access denied for user 'user_a'@'%' to database 'some_db' Some experimentation has shown me that the only permissions my account (user_a) is unable to grant are EVENT, EXECUTE, LOCK TABLES, and TRIGGER. What privileges are required for my account to GRANT these privileges to another user? • How do I enable a disabled Event Notification.

  I have a scenerio where I am using external notification to process documents being sent in from the entire navy fleet, normally I have no problems, but just a few days ago an administrator changed passwords and I my queue processing failed and I rolled back the transaction with this C# code: catch (Exception) { TransporterService.WriteEventToWindowsLog(AppName, "Rolling Back Transaction:", ERROR); broker.Tran.Rollback(); break; } after which my target queue would continue to fill up but nothing to the external activation queue. Does the Event Notification get disabled once a transaction is rolled back? Should I have done a broker.EndDialog here when catching my exception? Also, after my event notification is disabled(if that is actually whats happening) how do I re engage it? Do I have to drop it and recreate it? Thank in advance for any help, I love Service Broker and its workign wonderfully except for this bug that I hope to fix soon.

  When I am looking at the security tab of my event viewer on a Windows Server 2008 R2, I am showing a ton of Audit Failures with Event ID 4776. The computer attempted to validate the credentials for an account. Authentication Package: MICROSOFT_AUTHENTICATION_PACKAGE_V1_0 Logon Account: randy Source Workstation: HPDB1 Error Code: 0xc0000064 I verified the account "randy" exist in my Active Directory. From my understanding, there has not been any recent password changes. Is there any way to get detailed information on this error? I am wondering what program is requesting this information. Also, is there any way to clear this error up? I was thinking about resetting the password and changing it back to the original.

However, what I want to express is that I want the Events where Data CONTAINS the word "Error" . . . how do I express that? I've Goggled around, but I can find no references to Regular Expression like pattern matching in the Event Viewer. XPath has "contains", but if Event Viewer will support it, I cannot seem to figure out the syntax for invoking it.

• SBS Report displaying critical error events but nothing in Event Viewer

  We have a Windows Server server set up running SBS 2008 on a 64-bit architecture. When I run my daily SBS Console reports I am being told there is a critical error on the server with Event ID 56 & Source "TermDD". This is all fairly regular behaviour and I have plenty of sites I would normally troubleshoot errors on but the strange thing is there are no errors appearing in the Windows Event Viewer & I can find no help on why this might be... Has anyone experienced this before / know what might be the cause? Many thanks

  The aureport command has two options that limit the list of displayed events to those that were successful and those that failed. Per the man page: --failed Only select failed events for processing in the reports. The default is both success and failed events. --success Only select successful events for processing in the reports. The default is both success and failed events. What does this mean? Is the failure/success with regard to the actual event (e.g., a syscall that returned non-zero) or does the failure/success apply to auditd and whether or not there was an issue in processing the event?

  Hello, Environment: Windows Server 2008 R2 fully patched, working as Domain Controller in Win 2003 native domain. Users started to report problems with share, it turned out that server service won't start. I've scrambled google but can't find a thing. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance :) Service fails to start, then when starting service I get: Windows could not start the Server service on SERVERNAME. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. In System Event Log: Event 7023 The Server service terminated with the following error: The account used is a server trust account. • creating a pre-menu level select screen

  Hi I am working on creating a tower Defence java applet game and have come to a road block about implementing a title screen that i can select the level and difficulty of the rest of the game. my title screen class is called Menu. from this menu class i need to pass in many different variables into my Main class. i have used different classes before and know how to run them and such. but if both classes extend applet and each has its individual graphics method how can i run things from Main even though it was created in Menu. what i essentially want to do is run the Menu class withits action listeners and graphics until a Difficulty button has been selected, run the main class (which 100% works without having to have the Menu class) and pretty much terminate Menu so that i cannot go back to it, do not see its buttons or graphics menus. can i run one applet annd when i choose a button close that one and launch the other one? • Calculating WPM given a variable stream of input

  I'm creating an application that sits in the background and records all key presses (currently this is done and working; an event is fired every keydown/keyup). I want to offer a feature for the user that will show them their WPM over the entire session the program has been running for. This would be easy if I added a "Start" and "End" button to activate a timer, but I need to detect only when the user is typing continuously - ignoring all one-time keyboard shortcuts and breaks the user takes from typing. How in the world do I approach this? Is this even realistically & accurately possible?

  I use Projectile for my weapon system and UDKProjectile has two main function to handle Hit of projectiles(=bullet of my weapon): simulated function ProcessTouch(Actor Other, Vector HitLocation, Vector HitNormal) // For Actors simulated event HitWall(vector HitNormal, actor Wall, PrimitiveComponent WallComp) // Everything except Actors ( I guess) the first method, the function just give me the actor which I hit and my question is How I can get that actor's physical material by first parameter ( Other ), in order to make a proper react about it ( for example a proper Sound of collide ) ... A tricky (but hateful ) way which I knew works is, make a Trace from a little back of that actor to that actor, and use HitInfo parameter which include physical Material ! But there should be a more standard way !

  Hi all: I am trying to work out how to use Adam Shaw's brilliant jQuery plugin - FullCalendar to add an event on our project : online balloon ordering page under development Basically, if you click on "step1" and choose "pickup in shop" , the page will bring you to the calendar view, where you could click on the upper-right corner at the "week" button to alter the view to a weekly basis. What I am trying to achieve is when client clicks on an empty slot in a day, she can create her event on that spot. Here is my code in custom.js: dayClick: function() { var n = parseInt(this.className.match(/fc\-slot(\d+)/)[1]); alert('a day has been clicked on slot ' + n); //trying to add an event using the renderEvent() method. $('#' + type + 'Calendar').fullCalendar('renderEvent', { title : 'my pickup slot', start : new Date(y,m,d, 12, 30), end : new Date(y,m,d, 13, 00), }); } It tries to use the FullCalendar's API method renderEvent so to create such an event. However, although my code runs without error and I can see the prompt saying which slot has been clicked, It wouldn't render such an new event on calendar. Is there another way to do this or my code does something wrong? Any suggestion would be much appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.

• WPF ContextMenu with bound items: Items.Count == 0 in ContextMenuOpening event

  I have a ContextMenu with the ItemsSource bound to the selected item of a list view, like this: <ContextMenu ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PlacementTarget.SelectedItem, RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Converter={StaticResource possibleConverter}}"/> The possibleConverter enumerates all possible values for a property of the the selected item, which are shown in the context menu. In the Opened event of the context menu, I select the current value like this: var cm = e.OriginalSource as ContextMenu; if (cm != null) { var lv = cm.PlacementTarget as ListView; var field = lv.SelectedItem as Field; var item = cm.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(cm.Items.OfType<object>().Where(o => o.ToString().Equals(field.StringValue)).FirstOrDefault()) as MenuItem; if (item != null) { item.IsChecked = true; } } Not particularly elegant, but it works. With the debugger I verified that the ContextMenu.Items.Count property has a non-zero value when expected (i.e. cm.Items.Count is non-zero in the if). So far, so good. There are, however, items in the listview where the context menu will have no items. In this case, an empty menu is shown. I tried to suppress this in the ContextMenuOpening event in the list view, like this: var lv = sender as ListView; if (lv != null) { var cm = lv.ContextMenu; if ((cm != null) && (cm.Items.Count > 0)) { // Here we want to check the current item, which is currently done in the Opened event. } else { e.Handled = true; } } Seems like it should work. However, cm.Items.Count is always zero. This is true even if ListView.SelectedItem did not change: For an item with menu entries, the menu is shown correctly after the first click, so the data binding has already happend. It is shown correct the second time as well, but in any case, Items.Count is zero in the ContextMenuOpening event. What am I missing? How can I suppress empty context menus? Why is the count zero in the ContextMenuOpening handler, which is in Windows Forms (ContextMenuStrip.Opening) the canonical point where to do these things? EDIT: Upon further investigating, it turns out that in the ContextMenuOpening handler, any binding to the listview fails, which is why ItemsSource is null. I tried to bind via ElementName, via a FindAncestor relationship, all to no avail. The PlacementTarget is null during that event. An ugly hack worked though: In the ContextMenuOpening event, I assign the list view to the ContextMenu.Tag property, while the ItemsSource binding now binds to Tag.SelectedItem. This updates the binding, so Items.Count is what it should be. It's still strange. How can you do meaningful things in ContextMenuOpening other than replacing the menu or something, if the binding fails because somehow the context menu is out of context during the event? Was it only tested with static pre-defined menu items?

• Always handle the PreviewKeyDown event in a base form

  We need to handle this event in the base form, regardless of which controls currently have focus. We have a couple of global key commands that need to work regardless of control focus. This works by handling the PreviewKeyDown event in the form normally. When we add a user control to the form, the event no longer fires. Am I missing something trivial here? It is nnot getting updated since the timer_tick is not a post back event

• MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 - onChange event error

  Hi I have an onChange event that keeps bringing up the error below whenever I preview it. 'Object doesnt support this property or method' I have the onChange event associated with a picklist and when a specific option is selected another field is unhidden. • Facebook events api: Event member (FQL)

  I am fetching the event members for facebook events. Till yesterday I was getting the proper counts of members of an event. But suddenly the counts have following issues: For lot of plans on every consecutive request, I am getting random number of members. Strange issue. Seems facebook servers are not synced properly or something similar. Earlier for the same query string (mentioned below), I was getting the correct counts. But now the count is much less. It seems that at least for a few events now they are sending only the members who are connected with our application (we are using facebook connect). Example: for the following query currently I am getting "31" members. But on event page members count is much more. FQL: FB.Facebook.apiClient.fql_query('SELECT uid, eid, rsvp_status FROM event_member WHERE eid=336671213618', function(result, error){alert(result.length);}); Event page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109411842404023 Is there any recent change in facebook API or policies?
