  • Why "menus" unit is finalized too early?

    I tested my application with FastMM and FullDebugMode turned on, since I had some shutdown problems. After solving bunch of my own problems FastMM started to complain about calling virtual method on a freed object in TPopupList. I tried to move the menus unit as early as possible in uses so that it would be finalized last, but it didn't help. Is this real problem, a bug in vcl or false alarm from FastMM?   • How to Crop Pictures in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2010

    When you add pictures to your Office documents you might need to crop them to remove unwanted areas, or isolate a specific part. Today we’ll take a look at how to crop images in Office 2010. Note: We will show you examples in Word, but you can crop images in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. To insert a picture into your Office document, click the Picture button on the Insert tab. The Picture Tools format ribbon should now be active. If not, click on the image. New in Office 2010 is the ability to see the area of the photo that you are keeping in addition to what will be cropped out. On the Format tab, click Crop. Click and drag inward any of the four corners to crop from any one side. Notice you can still see the area to be cropped out is show in translucent gray. Press and hold the CTRL key while you drag a corner cropping handle inward to crop equally on all four sides. To crop equally on right and left or the top and bottom, press and hold down the CTRL key while you drag the center cropping handle on either side inward. You can further adjust the cropping area by clicking and dragging the picture behind the cropping area. To accept the current dimensions and crop the photo, press escape or click anywhere outside the cropping area. You can manually crop the image to exact dimensions. This can be done by right clicking on the image and entering the dimensions in the Width and Height boxes, or in the Size group on the Format tab.   Crop to a Shape Select your photo and click Crop from the Size group on the Format tab. Select Crop to Shape and choose any of the available shapes. You photo will be cropped into that shape. Using Fit and Fill If you wish to crop a photo but fill the shape, select Fill. When you choose this option, some edges of the picture might not display but the original picture aspect ratio is maintained. If you wish to have all of the picture fit within a shape, choose Fit. The original picture aspect ratio will be maintained.   Conclusion Users moving from previous versions of Microsoft Office are sure to appreciate the improved cropping abilities in Office 2010, especially the ability to see what will and won’t be kept when you crop a photo.   • How to fill sequence in Excel from ranges given in another sheets?

    I have an Excel sheet where two columns (say J and K) among data in sheet1 are as follows: J ------------ K 1 ----------- 25 26 --------- 50 101 ------ 150 Which are some ranges. I have another sheet where I have column (let's say I), which I want to update it to have the values as indicated by the range; i.e. column values of I to be 1,2,3,...25,26,27,...50,101,102,103,...150 (vertically). Note that ranges in J-K are not always continuous (e.g. gap between 50 and 101) and not always in the right order. I'm trying to find some automated way to achieve that, instead of manually copying the starting value of the range (from I) and then dragging down sequentially until the ending value (from J) for every individual I and J value, which is a very huge set of data. Is there any way to help doing that? Note: I'm using Microsoft Excel 2013, but a solution for excel 2010 or 2007 is more than welcomed...

    Before I ask question, I've searched but only found ways of copy and paste "formatted cell". That's not what I need. I want to use an example to explain my requirement: There are 2 cells in a sheet. Cell_A's text is "aaaaabbbbb", and "aaaaa" is green, and "bbbbb" is red. Cell_B's text is "ccccc" and "ccccc" is black. I want to copy and paste "bbbbb" from Cell_A to Cell_B and keep "bbbbb" in red. But in my environment(Office 2007), "bbbbb" is changed to black as "ccccc", the default format of Cell_B. Is there an easy way to implement my requirement?

    Has anyone delt with this exception from ABCpdf? We're running on Server 2008 and only have issues converting Office files (Word and Excel). This all worked well on Server 2003.     I'm trying to make a visual basic application which is connected to a Microsoft Access Database using OLEDB. Inside my database I have a user table with the following layout ID - Autonumber Username - Text Password - Text Email - Text To insert data into the table I use the following query INSERT INTO Users (Username, Password, Email) VALUES ('004606', 'Password', '[email protected]') However I seem to get an error with this statement and according to VB it's a syntax error. But then I tried to use the following query INSERT INTO Users (Username) Values ('004606') This query seemed to work absolutely fine... So the problem is I can insert into just one field but not all 3 (excluding the ID field because it's an autonumber). Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

    I'm a novice with Microsoft Access as my background is mostly .NET. I'm sure what I'm trying to accomplish is dead simple but I need some direction. I have a report and a query. The query returns a single numeric value based on a single numeric criteria. Select total from table where id = [topic] I have placed a text box on my report so I can feed the id to this query and in return get the total. It seems like DLookUp is what I want but no matter how I construct it, I get an "#Error" in the text box when I run the report. Currently my DLookUp looks like this (I just hard-coded now for simplicity): =DLookUp("[total]","myquery","[topic] = 3") How can I pass a value from a field on my report to a query so I can return the query's single numeric value?     How can I insert an SVG image into a Microsoft Publisher 2010 document as a vector image without having to first convert it to a bitmap format like PNG? Copying and pasting an SVG file into a Publisher document does not work. I am aware that one can convert an SVG to EPS, and insert that, since Publisher accepts EPS files. The problem is that it is time consuming to convert, and often the colors come out wrong. If this is the only way to get vector graphics into Publisher, then is there a one-step method to convert an SVG to EPS and paste it into Publisher at one fell swoop?

    Most attributes in MSAD are single-valued and pose no problem. I am familiar with the dsquery user -samid jdoe | dsmod -webpg "http://some.url/" method. However, some attributes are multi-valued, such as telephone number and webpage. These values can be managed through the Active Directory Users & Computers Microsoft Console (dsa.msc) via the dialogue shown by clicking on the "Other..." button, but I'd really rather script the modifications. It seems to me that dsmod & dsget do not support multi-value retrieval and editing; only the first value of the set seems to be accesible. Am I correct? If I am not correct, I would appreciate a syntax example. If I am correct, would you please recommend an alternative scriptable tool that can handle multi-value attributes? The more "official and supported" the tool, the better.

    We have a specific accounting and production software, called 1C, which uses single user connection to the MS SQL 2008 R2 database. And there are about 500 users connecting to 1C server to perform their tasks. 1C and SQL 2008 are on separate servers. How to configure MS SQL 2008 R2 to effectively use parallelization in this configuration? We have 24 cores, and only one is loaded at 100% at MS SQL 2008 R2 server.   • Microsoft DNS creating subdomain when adding address record

    Hello, When attempting to add a normal A record (which has so far always worked), the Microsoft dnsmgmt app in MMC is returning a successful creation message "The host record oneworld.mydomain.com was successfully created". However, after refreshing the zone, it displays a folder icon next to "oneworld" indicating a sub domain, i.e. it is not the A record dnsmgmt said it created successfully. This is really strange behavior that has never happened previously. We have tried this on two separate PCs and remote consoled into the primary DNS server and tried adding the same A record with the same results. Any help is appreciated.

  • Creating an interactive "movie" from a Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 presentation (.ppt file) containing animation

    I have created a Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 presentation (a .ppt file) on Windows XP that contains a lot of animation, using PowerPoint's Custom Animation tools. I would like to share this presentation -- animations and all -- with a colleague who has a Mac computer and does not have PowerPoint or Keynote. Is it possible to make a "movie" from my .ppt file that contains a lot of animation? I recall that another colleague once made me a QuickTime "movie" from a PowerPoint file, I think (although I do not remember whether he made it using Windows or Mac). On this "movie," clicking advanced the animation/slide, just as clicking would do in an actual PowerPoint presentation. In that sense, it was not really strictly a movie, since I could interact with it by clicking. Do you know how to make such an interactive "movie" from a PowerPoint 2003 presentation (a .ppt file)?   • Sync Gmail, Google Contacts, Google Calendar with Microsoft Exchange

    At my work we only use Microsoft Exchange. As I hate Outlook and much prefer Google's services, I'd like to be able to sync my email, calendar, and contacts to a Gmail account. It looks like Google shut down their Google Sync service for Gmail accounts earlier this year: http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2716936. They are recommending IMAP, CalDAV, and CardDAV. I'm having trouble even setting up IMAP to work with Exchange. Is this the best way to go or is there a better solution?

  • How to get Word 2003 to make my print layout go from left to right?

    My copy of MS Word 2003 was installed on my computer with the locale set to Israel, so among other things my Normal.dot template was set up for right-to-left. I managed to fix most of the Hebrew support things so that I am working in English by default now. The only thing I haven't found a cure for is how to make the "print layout" view also go from left to right; as things are, the page flow always appears from right to left, even in English documents - IOW, page 1 appears on the right of page 2, as shown below. I can't see any obvious option to change this. How do I do it?

  • Transferring Microsoft CRM data

    My boss has asked me to transfer data from the current Microsoft CRM 4.0 server to a new one. I myself haven't used CRM at all. I've done some research and come across various ways to import data from different sources. These methods include using CSV files and Data Maps. This seems very cumbersome and unnecessary since the data is already in a CRM. Would someone please direct to some guides for full/partial data transferral from this current CRM to a new one? Thanks

  • Skip "Sign in to your Microsoft account" (Windows 8.1 Setup)

    I have an RT tablet and updated it to Windows 8.1. The update basically performs the new PC setup. I can't get past the "Sign into your Microsoft Account". Clicking "Next" does not allow me to proceed (and prompts me for an email address). Clicking "Don't have an account" does nothing because its not linked. The other two options are "Create an account" a "Privacy statement". I don't want to create an account, and I'm not interested in their perverted terms of service for an account. In Windows 8.0, we were given the option to use local authentication. How do I bypass this feature?

  • Two-page view in Word, shouldn't the first page be on the right?

    Greetings Superusers, I'm putting together a lengthy document in Word, and it's going to be printed and bound duplex. I've put page-numbers "outside" etc, and all is pretty. The problem is, in the "Two Pages" view, it puts p1 on the left, then p2 on the right, then p3 below on the left, and p4 on the right. p1 p2 p3 p4 p5 p6 Shouldn't this be slightly different though? When I get to print it, p1 is on the right, not the left, so the preview should go p1 p2 p3 p4 p5 p6 Because when I "open" the book, it's pages 2 and 3 that are side-by-side. This makes layout tweaking confusing, because it's not instantly obvious which pages will be "visible" to the reader at the same time together. Have I missed something? I can't just put a blank page first, because that would bugger up the printing, as the printer automatically duplexes and binds etc. (Office 2008, by the way)
