  • Configuring trace file size and number in WebCenter Content 11g

    - by Kyle Hatlestad
Lately I've been doing a lot of debugging using the System Output tracing in WebCenter Content 11g.  This is built-in tracing in the content server which provides a great level of detail on what's happening under the hood.  You can access the settings as well as a view of the tracing by going to Administration -> System Audit Information.  From here, you can select the tracing sections to include.  Some of my personal favorites are searchquery,  systemdatabase, userstorage, and indexer.  Usually I'm trying to find out some information regarding a search, database query, or user information.  Besides debugging, it's also very helpful for performance tuning. • How do I run Microsoft Explorer 8 plus on Ubuntu?

    - by user169487
First off, you should know I'm a Ubuntu newbie who has become passionate since my strangely low-priced Dell computer showed up with Ubuntu loaded on it and it could do almost everything I need from a computer. But now I've got a problem. I know, it's like asking how to use a cassette player on your computer, but in South Korea EVERY website is made to work with exclusively on MS Explorer PLUS Active X, which Microsoft finally killed with 9. Hence, I have to use 8, as there are some Korean sites I need to access for searching, banking, etc. So I see that the way to go is to load PlayOnLinux, but then I it tells me to delete these. Do I really have to do that? Should I just hit "Install Anyway"? Or would that be just asking for trouble?

  • IE HTML Debugger Causing Issues with IE Enhanced Security

    - by Damon
In an effort to debug a Silverlight component on a page in SharePoint I opened the Developer Tools in Internet Explorer.  After choosing the Find > Select Element by Click option my page refreshed for some reason and a small bar appeared at the top of the page reading: You may be trying to access this site from a secured browser on the server. Please enable scripts and reload this page. After a quick look around the internet, some seemed to be suggesting that you have to disable the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (IE ESC) in Server Manager.  Since this is one of the very first things I do when creating a VM, I figured the solution did not apply to me.  However, I decided to go ahead and enable IE ESC and then disable it again to see if that would fix the problem, and it did.  So if you see that error message in IE, the bar and you've already got IE ESC disabled, you can just enable it and disable it to get rid of the bar.

  • Increase Servers folder depth limit for running scripts?

    - by MeltingDog
I have a CMS on my site that utilises TinyMCE (the WYSIWYG text editor). The issue is that TinyMCE cannot browse for files (example: images) on the web server. I get the error: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. I have been told this may be occurring because the server is configured to limit the folder depth for running scripts. Unfortunately I am primarily a front end developer so I am not really sure how to go about changing/viewing this. I have access to WHM and cPanel. Does anyone know how to adjust this?

  • Extended Events demos on Microsoft Virtual Academy

    - by extended_events
I had an opportunity recently to contribute a presentation to the Microsoft Virtual Academy as part of the Mission Critical Confidence using SQL Server 2012 course offering. The MVA offers you a myriad of free training opportunities, so I encourage anyone who is interested in expanding your knowledge to take advantage of this offering. For those of you who don’t want to invest the time to go through the whole course, you can access my presentation here. I cover the following topics: Integration of Extended Events into AlwaysOn troubleshooting. Troubleshooting Login failures using client/server correlation. Troubleshooting query performance issues using client/server correlation. I’m not sure how long content is made available on MVA, I got the impression that it would be removed as some point in the future, but should be there for at lease several months. - Mike

  • Syncing objects to a remote server, and caching on local storage

    - by Harry
What's the best method of sycing objects (as JSON) to a remote server, with local caching? I have some objects that will pretty much just be plain-text with some extra meta-data. I was thinking of perhaps including a "last modified date" for both Local storage and Remote storage. This could then be used to determine which object is the most recent. For example, even though objects will be saved to both local and remote when they are saved, sometimes the user may not have internet access, or the server may be down, or any other number of things. In this case, the last modified date for remote storage would be reverted to its previous date. Local storage would remain as it is. At this point, the user could exit the application, and when they reload the application would then look at the last modified dates of the local and remote storages, and decide. Is there anything I'm missing with this? Is there a better method that I could use?

  • Don’t Like New Google Search Interface? Switch To Old Interface

    - by Gopinath
Google recently adopted a new user interface layout for it’s search engine. The new layout is very different to classic one, it provides many options on the left side to choose for enhanced search operations. Even though many users like this new interface, there are few who are more comfortable with the classic interface. If you are one among those who wanted to switch back to classic interface, you can access it by using the following http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=all Join us on Facebook to read all our stories right inside your Facebook news feed.

  • Retrieve data from an ASP.Net application using ADO.Net 2.0 connected model

    - by nikolaosk
I have been teaching Entity Framework,LINQ to SQL,LINQ to objects,LINQ to XML for some time now. I am huge fan of LINQ to Entities and I am using Entity Framework as my main data access technology. Entity framework is in the second version right now and I can accomplish most of the things I need. I am sure the guys in the ADO.Net team will implement many more features in the future. I am a strong believer that you cannot really understand the benefits of LINQ to SQL or LINQ to Entities unless you...(read more)

  • What is Google's repository like?

    - by Ricket
I heard Google has a giant private (internal) repository of all of their code and their employees have access to it so that when they are developing things they don't have to reinvent the wheel. I'd like to know more about it! Is there anyone here from Google that can describe it in a bit more detail, or do you know a bit more about it? I'm interested in knowing mainly about how it's organized and how they can make it easy for an employee to find something in such a giant codebase as it must be.

  • Ubuntu 12.10 WiFi Problems

    - by Sean Webber
I have a 32 bit machine running Ubuntu 12.10 with WiFi on it. I have a WPA2 network at home, but if I leave the USB Adapter plugged in while it boots, it infinitely keeps asking for the network password but never connects. If I plug it in after boot, it will connect but then I can't access ANYTHING on the LAN or Internet because "the DNS servers are unreachable". Now, if I leave the computer on a while, I get lucky sometimes and it MAGICALLY decides to connect for a little bit, lock the machine though and the Internet's gone again. The weirdest thing, is when I am connected but can't get to the internet, I do a netstat or ifconfig wlan0, I do have an IP address and everything. It says I'm connected but its not. I have a Realtek RTL8188CU USB adapter.

  • How can I prevent people from looking at a listing of files in parent directory if I haven't uploaded index.html? [closed]

    - by LedZeppelin
Possible Duplicate: How to restrict the download of all files in a folder? I haven't uploaded index.html or index.php to my root directory. How can I prevent people from looking at a listing of files in parent directory? http://oi56.tinypic.com/sc739e.jpg Also, is it possible for people to obtain a list of all the files in the root directory once I upload index.html? I'm currently using .htaccess and htusers to prompt someone to enter a username and password when they try to access any file in the root directory. This may sound like a weird request but would it be possible to have them come to the site (without an index.html) and just have them not see the files? All it would say on the page would be the following: Index of/ Apache Server at mysite.com Port 80

  • Security for LDAP authentication for Collabnet

    - by Robert May
In a previous post, I wrote about how to get LDAP authentication working in Collabnet. By default, all LDAP users are put into the Users role on the server.  For most purposes, this is just fine, and I don’t have a way to change this.  The documentation gives hints that you can add them to other roles, but for now, I don’t have the need. However, adding permissions to different repositories is a different question. To add them, go to the repositories list, select Access Rules and then you can enter in their username, as it sits in Active Directory to the lists for the repositories or for the predefined groups that you have created.  To my knowledge, you cannot use the Active Directory groups in collabnet, which is a big problem.  Needing to micromanage users really limits the usefulness of the LDAP integration. • On-Premises to Office 365: Identity

    - by Sahil Malik
SharePoint, WCF and Azure Trainings: more information “Run your business, not your mail server.” I am not sure where I read that, but it makes so much sense! Every organization is moving to the cloud, and some just haven’t started their journey yet. One of the fastest and most compelling online cloud based offerings is Office 365. Available in various SKUs, you can get SharePoint, Lync, Exchange, and Office professional as cloud-based offerings. The subscriptions are as low as $2 per user per month to $20 something per user per month. Also, with SharePoint 2013, if you buy Office 365 subscriptions for your users, you don’t need to buy CALs (Client Access Licenses) for on-premises use. Read full article here. • Not enough components to start the RAID array?

    - by urig
I'm trying to retrieve data from a "Western Digital MyBook World Edition (white light)" NAS device. This is basically an embedded Linux box with a 1TB HDD in it formatted in ext3. It stopped booting one day for no apparent reason. I have extracted the HDD from the NAS device and installed it in a desktop machine running Ubuntu 10.10 in the hope of accessing the files on the drive. Unfortunately, Ubuntu has not been able to mount the drive automatically. Having started up Disk Utility I see the drive as a multi disk device called "Array (Array)" showing Metadata Version 0.90.0. The device state is: "Not Running, not enough components to start". When I click the "Start RAID Array" button I get an error saying: "Not enough components to start the RAID array". Can you please tell me which components are missing and how to install them to get access to the drive's filesystem?

  • Why Can't Computers Off My Network See the Site? [migrated]

    - by nmagerko
Have just set up Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc. on my Ubuntu OS, and I was wondering why computers that are not on my network can not see the basic index.html that Apache uses as the default. I set up the static ip address for my computer, and I use 192.168.1.100 for computers to view the simple site. Is there something I am missing that will allow others to access my site? (It is REALLY simple; no graphics, CSS, etc.)

  • Run programs that require a window manager, on the CLI

    - by Twitchy
Is there any way I can run a game server (MW3) under wine without requiring a window manager present? Currently to run windows only game servers on my Ubuntu box, I have to start them using RDP access as this creates a X session which the program (which has its own GUI). This is a pain as it cannot be automated (or can it?) on start up. What I would rather is some sort of X session emulator that pulls the console output of the program into the CLI so that I can automate server start ups. Is there any program or method that can do this?

  • Upgrade MySQL to 5.5 on Lucid, upgrade server to Precise or switch to Percona?

    - by xref
Looking into upgrading mysql on our development server to which is running 10.04 so is stuck at MySQL 5.1, as it appears there is no apt-get support for upgrading to 5.5 except by certain 3rd party PPAs. So I'm looking for which route to take and what other people have done: a) Follow a couple year old guide to manually install MySQL 5.5 and then invest ongoing time into manually downloading and installing security updates every month or two? b) Upgrade 10.04 to 12.04, and from other peoples experience I work with spend several days working out the kinks of that large upgrade, then I'll have access to mysql 5.5 and easy apt-get installation of future security updates? c) Switch from MySQL to Percona Server 5.5 and get all the benefits of that version of mysql, plus easy apt-get updates with their PPA? d) Something else?

  • Rotate Rigged and Animated Scene?

    - by Nick
I have a rigged and animated mesh that I need to import into Unity. We several characters that all use the same script, and access their bones to do procedural animations as well. The problem is that the new model I was given is facing the wrong way. Instead of facing forward, the model is facing the right.. Is there any way to rotate the model with it's animations without screwing it up, so that it will import properly in unity facing forward? Because of the way it was done, selecting everything in the scene and just rotating it by 90 degrees ruins some of the animations, so I need a program that can fix this.

  • Track updated/inserted entities in LINQ to SQL applications

    - by nikolaosk
In this post I would like to discuss in further detail the issue of track changing of entities in LINQ to SQL applications. I would like to show you how the DataContext object keeps track of all the items that are updated, deleted or inserted in the underlying data store. If you want to have a look at my other post about LINQ to SQL and transactions click here . I am going to demonstrate this with a hands on example. I assume that you have access to a version of SQL Server and Northwind database....(read more)

  • dpkg --set-selections from 11.10 on 12.04LTS

    - by Vixxo
I have to move a server to a different DC in a different country. The server is currently running 11.10, but the new fresh installed OS will be 12.04. The hardware of both is completely different. In order to install the same packages that the server currently uses, I am thinking of exporting all packages to a list and then run this list on the new machine. I will after that proceed with transferring the configuration files for the LAMP stack. My question is if this will work, or if there will be a problem because of the differences in the versions of the OS? What is the correct way to do it? PS. I have no access to KVM to reload the OS as an image, so this would not be an option.

  • Link to pages on site without .html extension appearing in browser?

    - by Anime163
I've modified my .htaccess file to allow access to html files without having to include the extension on the end, for example: www.mysite.com/document directs to www.mysite.com/document.html However, when I want to link to pages within my site using something like <a href="page.html"></a> I still get the .html appearing in the URL. So am I allowed to exclude the extension and leave a link as <a href="page"></a> so that the extension doesn't appear in the browser? Or is there a better way to do it?

  • Problems after installing Ubuntu LiveUSB on my 2nd HD

    - by user113106
I decided to create a Ubuntu USB installer using the Universal USB Installer, selecting a Ubuntu 12.10 ISO. I selected my D: drive, my NON-windows7 carrying drive as install. After this I Re-booted my system and my PC began to Run the Ubuntu Boot-startscreen every time I power up the machine, giving errors like this: Root=Unknown I used my girlfriend's laptop to create, on the exact same way, a real! USB Ubuntu installer. Booting from that USB, picking the option Run Ubuntu from this USB I get the following error: http://postimage.org/image/63qkv98c1/ Let's try installing it from that USB to a Hard-Disk: http://postimage.org/image/usqbwymfx/ As I said: I do not have the Option to pick my Boot-section, at this very moment I can only access to the Ubuntu installation and nothing else. I've read about 90% of other Questions that could've been related, but I could not find a solution. BTW I'm running a Acer Aspire 2Quadcore 4gb DDR 2 Ati Radeon HD, 64bit and I've set my Bios OS-usage from Windows to "Others"

  • VB6 general search form

    - by SilentRage47
I'm working on an old vb6/access2003 app which is used to handle orders, bills of materials and that sort of things. I'm thinking about creating a form that I call every time the users needs to search for something. This should work like these: Click on the field to complete, let's say name of a buyer Open new form, search for the client and click on it Return the name of the buyer to the previous form (probably the header of the order) So, I would need to pass to the new form something that identify the type of search I have to do (so what access table to open) and return some values. Is my idea correct or there something better? I would like to use only one form for all the searches, now the app works with a lot of msflexgrid for every form.
