• Crontab + rails3 + bundler

  I'm running a crontab that executes a rake task. I'm getting the following error (with MAILTO from crontab): rake aborted! no such file to load -- bundler /Users/Mendel/Sites/misnooit/Rakefile:4 (See full trace by running task with --trace) I'm using rvm with: ruby: ruby 1.9.1p378 rails: Rails 3.0.0.beta $GEM_HOME: /Users/Mendel/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378 bundler: bundler (0.9.11) The error is pretty self explanatory but I'm not able to fix it.. • How to use numpy with OpenBLAS instead of Atlas in Ubuntu?

  I have looked for an easy way to install/compile Numpy with OpenBLAS but didn't find an easy answer. All the documentation I have seen takes too much knowledge as granted for someone like me who is not used to compile software. There are two packages in Ubuntu related to OpenBLAS : libopenblas-base and libopenblas-dev. Once they are installed, what should I do to install Numpy again with them? Thanks! Note that when these OpenBLAS packages are installed, Numpy doesn't work anymore: it can't be imported: ImportError: /usr/lib/liblapack.so.3gf: undefined symbol: ATL_chemv. This was noticed here already. Answer to the question: Run sudo update-alternatives --all and set liblapack.so.3gf to /usr/lib/lapack/liblapack.so.3gf

• Small standalone SQL database similar to access in the old days(ie file database)

  Hi, I am looking for a easy to use and deploy sql type database i can ship with a desktop application. This will be a small application user's can download from my website. In the vb6 days, access was the common database for small desktop apps, what is my option these days? Looking at SQL CE it seems to have a quite a few limitations such as count(distinct) etc SQL express needs to be installed and running as a service (could i include the SQL express deployments in my deployment so the user doesn't even know its been installed? I assume size would then be an issue) SQL 2005/2008 is not an option due to size and licensing restrictions. I would like to use c#, wpf and entity framework. What would seem to be the best options based on your knowledge and experience? Thanks

  I figure out a xml sitemap for my website. In .htaccess, if I comment (RewriteRule ^(.*)/?$ index.php?rp=$1 [L]) line then all xml sitemap works fine, but my website pages doesn't work. • Is there any use for Bash scripting anymore?

  I just finished my second year as a university CS student, so my "real-world" knowledge is lacking. I learned Java my first year, continued with Java and picked up C and simple Bash scripting my second. This summer I'm trying to learn Perl (God help me). I've dabbled with Python a bit in the past. My question is, now that we have very readable, very writable scripting languages like Python, Ruby, Perl, etc, why does anyone write Bash scripts? Is there something I'm missing? I know my linux box has perl and python. Are they not ubiquitous enough? Is there really something that's easier to do in Bash than in some other hll?

• Batch File input validation - Make sure user entered an integer

  I'm experimenting with a DOS batch file to perform a simple operation which requires the user to enter a non-negative integer. I'm using simple batch-file techniques to get user input: @ECHO OFF SET /P UserInput=Please Enter a Number: The user can enter any text they want here, so I would like to add some routine to make sure what the user entered was a valid number. That is... they entered at least one character, and every character is a number from 0 to 9. I'd like something I can feed the UserInput into. At the end of the routine would be like an if/then that would run different statements based on whether or not it was actually a valid number. I've experimented with loops and substrings and such, but my knowledge and understanding is still slim... so any help would be appreciated. I could build an executable, and I know there are nicer ways to do things than batch files, but at least for this task I'm trying to keep it simple by using a batch file.

  I need help on looking for a best solution of a web based open source FTP client that has a progress bar, e-mail notifications and easy file sharing with others. I am looking to set up one for our print department, and you send it is really getting expensive. I've look into net2ftp.com but styling it, is a bit pain in the bumbum....Also, Uploadify is also an option but with my lack of PHP knowledge I can't make it to actually do what I want it to do. • What are some methods to debug Javascript inside of a UIWebView?

  I'm trying to figure out why something with Javascript isn't working inside of a UIWebView. To my knowledge, there is no way to set a breakpoint inside of XCode for a js file. No problemo, I'll just go back to 2004 and use alert statemen-- oh wait they don't seem to work inside of a UIWebView either! The only thing I could think of is by exporting my HTML And JS files to my desktop and then just doing my debugging inside of Safari. And that works! But of course, the bug I'm fighting with in the UIWebView doesn't occur in Safari. Are there any other ways for debugging inside of a UIWebView, or any tricks that I can use akin to using the old-school alert method?

  What is the best resource for serious Commodore 64 programming? Assume that serious programming on the Commodore 64 is not done in BASIC V2 that ships with the Commodore 64. I feel like most of the knowledge is tied up in old books and not available on the internet. All that I have found online are either very beginner style introductions to Commodore 64 programming (Hello world), or arcane demo-coder hacks to take advantage of strange parts of the hardware. I haven't found a well-explained list of opcodes, memory locations for system calls, and general mid-level examples and tips. • How can I dispatch an PropertyChanged event from a subscription to an Interval based IObservable

  I'm getting an 'UnauthorizedAccesExpection - Invalid cross-thread access' exception when I try to raise a PropertyChanged event from within a subscription to an IObservable collection created through Observable.Interval(). With my limited threading knowledge I'm assuming that the interval is happening on some other thread while the event wants to happen on the UI thread??? An explanation of the problem would be very useful. • Read and write into a file using VBScript

  How can we read and write some string into a text file using VBScript? I mean I have a text file which is already present so when I use this code below:- Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject" ) Set file = fso.OpenTextFile("C:\New\maddy.txt",1,1) This opens the file only for reading but I am unable to write anything and when I use this code:- Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject" ) Set file = fso.OpenTextFile("C:\New\maddy.txt",2,1) I can just use this file for writing but unable to read anything. Is there anyway by which we can open the file for reading and writing by just calling the OpenTextFile method only once. I am really new to VBScript. I am only familiar with C concepts. Is there any link to really get me started with VBScript? I guess I need to have a good knowledge of the objects and properties concepts.

  I think I might be overtired but I cannot for the life of me make sense of this, and I think it's due to a lack of knowledge of javascript var itv=function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts('interval'); }, 1000); } var tout=function(itv){ return setTimeout(function(){ sys.puts('timeout'); clearInterval(itv); }, 5500); } With these two functions I can call a=tout(itv()); and get a looping timer to run for 5.5 seconds and then exit, essentially. By my logic, this should work but it simply is not var dotime=function(){ return setTimeout(function(){ clearInterval(function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts("interval"); }, 1000); }); }, 5500); } any insight in this matter would be appreciated.

  I'm trying to write a a regex to validate a string to match the following rules. Must start with a-z (case insensitive) Must only contain a-z A-Z 0-9 . - I've put something together based on my limited knowledge and ran it through an online testing tool for a whole bunch of situations and the results were as I had hoped however when I place the pattern into my .NET code it doesn't match correctly. The pattern I am using is, [a-zA-Z][a-zA-Z0-9.\-]* Is this the correct pattern or am I barking up the wrong tree? • Visual C# GUI Designer basic tutorial

  Hi, can you recommend a Visual C# Form Designer tutorial that is targeted at experienced programmers who have at least a basic knowledge of C# but are new to the VS C# Form Designer. At least it shouldn't be targeted at programming newbs, like Introduction to Visual C# 2008 Express Edition (it explains how a comment looks like in C#). So far I've found C# Programming Tutorial - Programming Winforms in C# on stackoverflow. Wishlist: ;-) I'm more interested in focus on the designer itself rather than an explanation of single gui-elements. In other words explaining separation between generated-code, what to not edit manually (visual-c#-designer-responsibility) and on the other hand the parts for which the programmer himself is responsible. So a little more abstract best-practice point of view pointing out some caveats would be great as well. I would prefer text over video as well, but that's minor. /Wishlist Perhaps even a Microsoft reference specific to the Visual c# forms designer (which I seem to have been unable to find) would be helpful.

• Getting started developing JSDT/wst.jsdt?

  In my other question I spotted a bug in the Eclipse wst.jsdt. If I want to fix this myself, what are the knowledge dependencies for doing so? My guess would be: Know how to use CVS Know how to use Bugzilla Know how to develop core libraries in Eclipse Know how to develop plugins in Eclipse Know how to develop for the wst.jsdt project I've never done the latter three, so I was just wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction. I already looked at a document for developing in JSDT, but I'm still a little uncertain about what I need to look for to develop for Eclipse, since it comes in various flavors/distros (i.e. WDT)
