  • MySQL optimized sentence

    I have a simple table where I have to extract some records. The problem is that the evaluation function is a very time-consuming stored procedure so I shouldn't to call it twice like in this sentence: SELECT *, slow_sp(row) FROM table WHERE slow_sp(row)>0 ORDER BY dist DESC LIMIT 10 First I thought in optimize like this: SELECT *, slow_sp(row) AS value FROM table WHERE value>0 ORDER BY dist DESC LIMIT 10 But it doesn't works due "value" is not processed when the WHERE clause is evaluated. Any idea to optimize this sentence? Thanks.

  • Why use multiple OpenGL context

    For rendering I have a current GL context, associated to a window. In the case the application render multiple scenes (for example using accumulation or different viewports) I think it is ok to reuse the same context. My question, indeed, is: why should I use multiple GL context? I red on ARB_framebuffer_object extension spec that MakeCurrent call could be expansive, and in the case the ARB_framebuffer_object extension is present I can render on a generic buffer without using MakeCurrent. Apparently the only reason to use multiple GL context is to avoid to setup context state (pixel store, transfer, point size, polygon stipple...) or to have avaialable multiple render buffers configuration (one context with accumulation, another without). How to determine when is better an alternative context instead of setting context state? Thankyou all!

The only way is to truncate (substring())the "tblJobAnnouncement.JobClassDesc" in the query which has column size of around 8000. Do we have any work around so that i need not truncate the values. Or Can this query be optimised? Any setting in SQL Server 2000?

  • Another IKImageView Question: copying a region

    I'm trying to use the select and copy feature of the IKImageView. If all you want to do is have an app with an image, select a portion and copy it to the clipboard, it's easy. You set the copy menu pick to the first responder's copy:(id) method and magically everything works. However, if you want something more complicated, like you want to copy as part of some other operation, I can't seem to find the method to do this. IKImageView doesn't seem to have a copy method, it doesn't seem to have a method that will even tell you the selected rectangle! I have gone through Hillegass' book, so I understand how the clipboard works, just not how to get the portion of the image out of the view... Now, I'm starting to think that I made a mistake in basing my project on IKImageView, but it's what Preview is built on (or so I've read), so I figured it had to be stable... and anyway, now it's too late, I'm too deep in this to start over... So, other than not using IKImageView, any suggestions on how to copy the select region to the clipboard manually? EDIT actually, I have found the copy(id) method, but when I call it, I get <Error>: CGBitmapContextCreate: unsupported parameter combination: 8 integer bits/component; 16 bits/pixel; 1-component color space; kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast; 2624 bytes/row. Which obviously doesn't happen when I do a normal copy through the first-responder... I understand the error message, but I'm not sure where it's getting those parameters from... Is there any way to trace through this and see how this is happening? A debugger won't help for obvious reasons, as well as the fact that I'm doing this in Mozilla, so a debugger isn't an option anyway... EDIT 2 It occurs to me that the copy:(id) method I found may be copying the VIEW rather than copying a chunk of the image to the clipboard, which is what I need. The reason I thought it was the clipboard copy is that in another project, where I'm copying from an IKImageView to the clipboard straight from the edit menu, it just sends a copy:(id) to the firstResponder, but I'm not actually sure what the firstresponder does with it...

  • MySQL - Calculating a value from two columns in each row, using the result in a WHERE or HAVING clause

    I have a MySQL db schema like so: id flags views done ------------------------------- 1 2 20 0 2 66 100 0 3 25 40 0 4 30 60 0 ... thousands of rows ... I want to update all of the rows whose flags / views are = 0.2. First as a test I want to try to SELECT to see how many rows would actually get updated. I tried: SELECT flags/views AS poncho FROM mytable HAVING poncho 0.2 But this only returns like 2 rows and I know there should be a lot more than that. It seems like it's calculating the poncho value on all rows or something odd. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

  • Matching monitors

    Does anyone know a good matching monitor setup for multiple displays? Looking for 1920 x 1200 with IPS panel as the main screen and some 1600 x 1200 monitor for the side but no single manufacturer seems to make monitors that match like this. Do you all just deal with the resolution and size differences in multi setups or has anyone found decent IPS panel setups that match (size / vertical resolution)? Three 1920x1200 seems like overkill, that's why I was looking for 4:3 monitors for the sides.

TABLE: number_table Uid Numbers ------------------------ 1 3,5,15 OK, since all of NUMBERS are in $integers 2 5,15,20 OK, since all of NUMBERS are in $integers 3 3,4,5,15 NOT OK, since 4 is not found in $integers 4 2,15,20,25 NOT OK, since 2 and 25 is not found in $integers Is it possible to to a "for-each" on a comma separated string or another way to do this SELECT?

A query which prints stock balances: SELECT stock.item_id, Sum(stock.pcs) AS stock_balance FROM stock GROUP BY stock.item_id; A query which prints sales statistics SELECT stock.item_id, Sum(stock.pcs) AS pcs_ordered, Count(stock.item_id) AS number_of_orders FROM stock GROUP BY stock.item_id, stock.operation HAVING stock.operation="order"; I think that some sort of JOIN would do the job but I have no idea how to glue queries together. Desired output: item_id | stock_balance | pcs_ordered | number_of_orders apples | 0 | 150 | 2 oranges | 10 | 50 | 1 pears | 100 | 100 | 1 This is just example. Maybe, I will need to add more conditions because there is more columns. Is there a universal technique of combining multiple queries together?

    In windows 7, when I have multiple monitors extending my desktop, there is functionality to activate a certain monitor by pressing 'ctrl' + . So if I press 'ctrl' + 2, then the current program jumps over to the monitor identified as monitor 2. I'm sure this functionality serves a good purpose, but it can be rather anoying in programs that rely on 'ctrl' + # for other functionality. Is there a way to disable this feature in windows?

  • How to perform Linq select new with datetime in SQL 2008

    In our C# code I recently changed a line from inside a linq-to-sql select new query as follows: OrderDate = (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.Year.ToString() + "-" + p.OrderDate.Value.Month.ToString() + "-" + p.OrderDate.Value.Day.ToString() : "") To: OrderDate = (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : "") The change makes the line smaller and cleaner. It also works fine with our SQL 2008 database in our development environment. However, when the code deployed to our production environment which uses SQL 2005 I received an exception stating: Nullable Type must have a value. For further analysis I copied (p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : "") into a string (outside of a Linq statement) and had no problems at all, so it only causes an in issue inside my Linq. Is this problem just something to do with SQL 2005 using different date formats than from SQL 2008? Here's more of the Linq: dt = FilteredOrders.Where(x => x != null).Select(p => new { Order = p.OrderId, link = "/order/" + p.OrderId.ToString(), StudentId = (p.PersonId.HasValue ? p.PersonId.Value : 0), FirstName = p.IdentifierAccount.Person.FirstName, LastName = p.IdentifierAccount.Person.LastName, DeliverBy = p.DeliverBy, OrderDate = p.OrderDate.HasValue ? p.OrderDate.Value.Date.ToString("yyyy-mm-dd") : ""}).ToDataTable(); This is selecting from a List of Order objects. The FilteredOrders list is from another linq-to-sql query and I call .AsEnumerable on it before giving it to this particular select new query.   • New monitor connected to HDMI adaptor doesn't show output after booting

    Hello out there in the multiple monitors’ world. I am a very old newbie in your world and need help. I just purchased a new Asus VH236H monitor and hooked it up the HDMI port of an ATI Radeon HD4300 / 4500 Series display adaptor. I left the old Princeton LCD19 (TMDS) hooked up to the DVI port of the same display adaptor. Both monitors displayed the boot sequence, after I fired good old Sarastro2 (Asus P5Q Pro Turbo – Dual Core E5300 – 2.60 GHz) up. The Asus lacked one half of a second behind the Princeton until the Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 boot up was complete. Then the Asus displayed “HDMI NO SIGNAL” and went into hibernation. The Princeton stayed lit up as before. Both monitors are displayed on the “Screen Resolution Setup Display” and I plaid around with them for a while. The only thing I accomplished was to shove the desktop icons from the Princeton to the still hibernating Asus. The “Multiple displays:” is set to “Extend these displays”, the Orientation is “Landscape” and the Resolutions are set on both to the “recommended” one. Both monitors show that they work properly in the advanced Properties display. What am I doing wrong, what am I missing? Never mind the opinions about the different resolutions of the two monitors. I always can unhook the Princeton and give it to a Goodwill Store if I do not like the setup. I just would like to make it work. Any constructive help is very much appreciated, Thank you. Thank you Anees Bakrain Only the ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series adapter is displayed in the Device Manager, for that reason I have to assume that the onboard display adaptor is not active. All 40 drivers of Sarastro2 are up to date and the HDMI cable can not be the problem because both monitors displayed the boot sequence up to the moment when Windows 7 was loaded completely. This was the moment, when the Asus monitor lost its signal. Both connectors, HDMI and DVI are connected and removing the DVI connector would not solve my problem of running both monitors simultaneously. However, your suggestions shifted my seventy one year old brain into the next gear. The only question remaining is; “Why the signals to the Asus monitor stop after the sequence is complete”. The ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series adapter seems to be capable of sending simultaneous HDMI and DVI signals, what is done during the boot sequence. Why do the signals change after the boot sequence is complete is the key question or der springende Punkt? Is this a correct assumption slhck?

    Hi all, first post here, I come in peace :) I've searched but can't quite find what I'm after. I am trying to manipulate the selected option of a select box. Can someone please explain why this works: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('#some_select_box option:selected').remove(); }); but this doesn't: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('this option:selected').remove(); }); I just want to use "this" instead of spelling out the id of the select box - can someone point me in the right direction for the correct syntax? It's driving me mad because it looks like it should be really simple. And I'm sure it is to someone, but not me, cos its the end of the day and I'm brain-fried... Any pointers much appreciated.     Hi, I wish to extract just the first 1024 bytes of a stored blob and not the whole file. The reason for this is I want to just extract the metadata from a file as quickly as possible without having to select the whole blob. I understand the following: select dbms_lob.substr(file_blob, 16,1) from file_upload where file_upload_id=504; which returns it as hex. How may I do this so it returns it in binary data without selecting the whole blob? Thanks in advance.

    I have two tables as follows: tblCountry (countryID, countryCode) tblProjectCountry(ProjectID, countryID) The tblCountry table is a list of all countries with their codes and the tblProjectCountry table associates certain countries with certain projects. I need an SQL statement that gives me a list of the countries with their country code that do NOT have an associated record in the tblProjectCountry table. so far I got to here: SELECT tblCountry.countryID, tblCountry.countryCode FROM tblProjectCountry INNER JOIN tblCountry ON tblProjectCountry.countryID = tblCountry.countryID WHERE (SELECT COUNT(ProjectID) FROM tblProjectCountry WHERE (ProjectID = 1) AND (countryID = tblCountry.countryID)) = 0 The above statement parses as correct but doesn't give the exact result I'm looking for. Can anyone help?

    Hi, Im relatively new to sql server and excel/microsoft query, I have a query like this Select ...[data]...B1.b,B2.b,B3.b From TABLEA Inner join ( SELECT ---[data]...sum(...) as b From TABLEB WHERE Date between [startdate] and [enddate] ) as B1 Inner join ( SELECT ---[data]...sum(...) as b From TABLEB WHERE Date between [startdate-1week] and [enddate] ) as B2 Inner join ( SELECT ---[data]...sum(...) as b From TABLEB WHERE Date between [startdate-2weeks] and [enddate] ) as B3 Where Date between [startdate] and [enddate] It works, when i introduce the dates manually, but i need them to be "Dynamic" (introduced from excel) but, when I put the "?" (for parameters) on all the dates, it throws an error. "Invalid Parameter Number" :D How can i make this work, within excel? Im using SQL Server and Microsoft Query Connection Data.
