• Open/Close database connection in django

  I am using Django and Postgresql as my DBMS. I wish to set a setting that enables to enable/disable database connection. When the connection is set to closed (in settings.py) the site will display a message such as "meintanence mode" or something like that. Django will not show any db connection error message (or mail them to admins). It is appreciated if django do not try to connect to the database at all.

  I'm trying to get zc.buildout to install Gunicorn from source. Using the following configuration: [gunicorn] recipe = collective.recipe.distutils url = http://github.com/benoitc/gunicorn/tarball/master results in the following error: SystemError: ('Failed', '"/usr/bin/python" setup.py -q install --install- purelib="/mnt/hgfs/Projects/intranation/parts/site-packages" --install-platlib="/mnt/hgfs/Projects/intranation/parts/site-packages"') Providing a --install-dir or --prefix doesn't help. Is there a recipe for zc.buildout that downloads a tarball and installs it via easy_install or similar?

  I'm newbie in Functional Programming. I have a huge neural network with thousands of neurons and every connection between neurons has its weight. I have to update these weights very often, several thousand times per learning session. Is FP still applicable here? I mean in fp we can't modify variables and only able to return new variables not changing previous values. Does this mean I have to recreate whole network on every weight update?

  I am having some trouble getting appscript installed on OS/X 10.6.3 / Python 2.6.1. When I issue sudo easy_install appscript I get "unable to execute gcc-4.2: No such file or directory".   Hello all, I am trying to import NLTK in my python code and I get this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/afs/NetBeansProjects/NER/getNE_followers.py", line 7, in import nltk ImportError: No module named nltk I am using NetBeans: 6.7.1, Python 2.6 NLTK. My NLTK module is installed in /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/nltk/ and I have added this in Python paths in Netbeans. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.
