I am following along the MVC Storefront(a little outdated now) where they are talking about routes and adding them to global.asax.cs My question is this. wouldn't it be better if only 1 route is defined and after that everything is done programatically? I have a class called Project, a project can have multiple forecasts.Now If I want to check if the projects has any forecasts or not should I use a readonly boolean property called HasForecast() or should I use a method named HasForecast() which basically returns a boolean value.From framework design guidelines I came to know that methods should be used when the operation is complex,since here I'm retrieving the value of forecasts from DB should I consider method, or since it is a logical data member should I use a property.If I use a property can I call a method in DBLayer from its getter.Please explain Regards, Ravi

    Hi there guys! I'm starting out learning some ASP.Net programming and I'm going to be making a little community website for my friends and myself. I'm trying to pick up some good habits along the way. I was thinking of having a usercontrol and have that 'loginBox' shows the appropriate textboxes and login button, but also show his username when he is logged in. Do you think I should handle this as a user control or am I missing something as an ASP.Net newbie?

  • Python: Converting legacy string dates to dates

    We have some legacy string dates that I need to convert to actual dates that can be used to perform some date logic. Converting to a date object isn't a problem if I knew what the format were! That is, some people wrote 'dd month yy', othes 'mon d, yyyy', etc. So, I was wondering if anybody knew of a py module that attempts to guess date formats and rewrites them in a uniform way?     I tried to install pygtk on mac. I downloaded the pygtk file, opened up terminal and set it to my working directory, then ran the command "python setup.py install". There was an import error because there was no module dsextras. Does anyone know how to install pygtk on a mac or get dsextras.

  • PAM authentication problem

    I am using this module to authenticate using pam: http://code.google.com/p/web2py/source/browse/gluon/contrib/pam.py I can call authenticate('username','password') and it returns True/ False. It works for any 'username' but 'root'. My guess is that there is a security restriction in PAM that does not allow to check for the root password. I need to be able to check the root password. Is there anything I can change in the pam.conf or somewhere else to remove this restriction?
