  • iPhone UITableView trigger a parent method?

    Okay, so I'm working on an iPhone app with a preferences-esque section where there's a base TableView, which has one section, and several rows of customized cells to hold a name and a value label. Clicking on a row brings up another View, which allows the user to pick from a list (another TableView), and select an item. All of these TableViews are done programatically. The base TableView has a property that holds a Controller instance for each of the "pick from the list" Views. Each of the "pick from the list" views has a property called chosenValue that has the currently-selected option. I've gotten the UI to handle the didSelectRowAtIndexPath to update the chosenValue property and then "pop" the view (going back to the main TableView). But, even though the main TableView's cellForRowAtIndexPath method references the chosenValue property of the subview that's held in a property, the view doesn't update when an item is selected. In short, how can the sub-view trigger a reloadData on the parent object, after it "pops" and unloads?

    I use MFMailComposeViewController to send a message in html format. If my html template contains the css styles: <div class="margin:10 10 10 0"> <a href="domain.name">Go To</a></div> In this case it works good. But if I send: <a href="domain.name">Go&nbsp;To</a> then I see the letter that comes with broken styles as there (3D is not my misprint) <div style=3D"margin:10 10 10 10;"><a href=3D"www.google.com">Go=C2=A0To</a></div> Well as the letter goes broken when I insert in the template symbols from national alphabets. Somebody can tell what the problem and check with yourself?

  • Objective C: Create arrays from first array based on value

    I have an array of strings that are comma separated such as: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA Bill Gates,44,WA Bill Nye,21,OR I have those values in an NSScanner object so that I can loop through the values and get each comma seperated value using objectAtIndex. So, what I would like to do, is group the array items into new arrays, based on a value, in this case, State. So, from those, I need to loop through, checking which state they are in, and push those into a new array, one array per state. CA Array: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA WA Array: Bill Gates,44,WA OR Array: Bill Nye,21,OR So in the end, I would have 3 new arrays, one for each state. Also, if there were additional states used in the first array, those should have new arrays created also. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello, I'm trying to pass the user on to the interface based on their cell selection in the UITableView, ie, if the user selects cell 1, they are taken to view model 2, containing UIWebView. UIWebView then displays local file, cell1.html. Currently, I've manage to get placeholder using: selectedCellText.text = selectedCell; to display the name of the cell selected. How do I get it to directly pass to the UIWebView, stick UIWebView in the interface and link it using: UIWebView *myWebView = [[UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; NSBundle *mainBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *stringUrl = [mainBundle pathForResource:@"selectedCell" ofType:@"html"]; NSURL *baseUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:stringUrl]; NSURLRequest *urlRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:baseUrl]; [myWebView loadRequest:urlRequest]; My other issue is that some of the cell names have spaces in them, and for simplicity, I'd like to ensure that there are no spaces (actually, will it even work with spaces in the name, I assume with %20 ?     I have been looking everywhere how to play a $#@&! rington/alarm sound in android. I press a button and I want to play a rington/alarm sound. I could not find a easy, strsight forward sample... YES! I already looked at Alarm clock source code... but it is not straight forward and I cannot compile it neither.     When i try to check leaks of my iPhone App using Instruments, everything is just fine. Same App on actual real device shows this leak for a few times during the app launch. It is pretty non-deterministic and it happens in system libraries. I tried to google down the solution without a luck. Anyone experiencing the same problems? Anyone knows the solution? I find interesting, that every of my leak in code will crash the app sooner or later. These GeneralBlock-3584 leaks keeps app perfectly stable. Might this be reason for AppStore rejection? Thanx for any answer regarding this undocumented problem (Apple is silent unfortunately).

  • Convert UIViews made programmatically to UIScrollViews

    So I have a bunch of UIViews that I made programmatically and placed a bunch of content on (UIButtons, UILabels, UINavigationBars, etc.), and most of these views are going to need to actually be UIScrollViews instead. Now keep in mind I made all these through code not the Interface Builder. What I first tried was to just change each declaration of a UIView to a UIScrollView instead, and that compiled and ran fine, however, they were not scrollable. It's REALLY weird.     I have noted that when the iPhone OS receives a push notification, it considers that a user action to click on the action button as a "response" to the push notification for some indefinite period of time. If the user lets the push notification sit on screen for a number of seconds, or lets the phone go to sleep, the phone no longer considers the users action as a response to the push notification itself, and therefore does not launch the corresponding app. So my question is... does anyone know what the precise definition from the iPhone OS is as to how long the phone considers a push notification response to be corresponding to the push? Sorry, I can't find a great way to phrase this question, but I hope it makes sense. I'm guessing its something like 20 seconds from my testing, but I don't see this specifically documented anywhere.

On the first call everything is fine but on the second, third and later calls Instruments show tens of memory leaks on certain lines inside didEndElement, didEndElement and foundCharacters functions.   • Are primitive types garbage collected in Android?

    I know this may be a dumb question, but my background is more in c++ and managing my own memory. I am currently cutting down every single allocation that I can from one of my games to try and reduce the frequency of garbage collection and perceived "lag", so for every variable that I create that is an Object (String and Rect for example) I am making sure that I create it before hand in my constructor and not create temporary variables in simple 10 line functions... (I hope that makes sense) Anyways I was working though it some more tonight and I realized that I may be completely wrong about my assumption on garbage collection and primitive types (int, boolean, float) are these primitive type variables that I create in a 10 line function that gets called 20 times a second adding to my problem of garbage collection? So a year ago every few seconds I would see a message in logcat like GC freed 4010 objects / 484064 bytes in 101ms Now I see that message every 15-90 seconds or so... So to rephrase my question: Are primitive types (int, float, boolean, etc) included when seeing this message?

  • Make an iPhone InfoButton light/dark based on color behind it

    How do I detect what color is under the InfoButton... so I can change the button from DARK to LIGHT? I set my view's color... but how do I tell if it's "kind of light" or "kind of dark"? Besides... I can't change the info-button from light to dark anyway. (read only) Ugh. Shouldn't Apple have some kind of a simple "cmdButton.doThisExtremelyCommonThingForMe = TRUE" statement? InfoButtons are useless if you can't even see them. (Or how would I put an image behind the button to make it stand-out more?)

  • UITableView titleForHeaderInSection prints headers to console twice then crashes

    In the method below titleForHeaderInSection, for some reason the NSLog prints out the headers twice and then the app crashes in objc_msgSend. I can't understand why this would cause the app to crash? It would seem from research that crashes in objc_msgSend are caused by sending messages to already freed objects, but is that the case here?   • Problem in getting Contact Info

    Hi, I m working on application in which i have to send all contacts from Android mobile to other mobile through SMS. I don't have any problem in getting contact information but when I send those Contacts after few messages there is Alert Window pop up saying "A large number of message have being send" and ask if you want to send or not. I am testing this application on HTC Hero. Is this problem is for specific mobiles or for all? I don't know what should i do to avoid this window because I cant get SMS Sent event. Please help me with any ideas that i can implement........ Thanks
