  • Separated virtual networks with same subnet range with 2 interface

    I'm having some problems with routing with the following: I have a server with 2 interfaces. It has 1-1 alias contains the same subnet. the 2 interface is connected to 2 switch, which are separated from each other. Infrastructure: Eth0 192.168.16.2/20 Eth0:eth0 192.168.1.222/20 Eth1 192.168.32.3/20 Eth1:eth1 192.168.1.223/20 I have a PC which has the IP address: 192.168.1.3/24 The problem is the next: If PC is on subnet 1, I can ping it. If PC is on subnet 2, I can't ping it. traceroute shows the route is across 192.168.1.222 ping -I 192.168.1.223 192.168.1.3 is not working on subnet 2. arp entries show the MAC address belonging to the correct interface (eth1 on subnet 2) How can I force the server to look on both interface same ranged subnet for specific IP? It searches only in the first subnet. The routing table has these 2 entries: 192.168.0.0/20 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.222 192.168.0.0/20 dev eth1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.223

  • My scanner isn't responding. It is connected to a SCSI interface using Windows XP

    I have a Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL scanner. The best part about it is that it is 12x17 inches. Wowza! The worst part about it is that I've had it working at one point, with the same cable, same card, same computer, but have since re-installed Windows XP on it. Currently it will turn on, and blink the Power and Ready lights. They should be solid. I've done my best to find documentation for this, but all I've really gotten is the content on the Microtek site. I've tried turning the scanner on, then the PC. Turning the PC on, then the scanner. When I try launching the software it pops up a dialog saying "ScanWizard Pro can't find any scanners! Use SCSI Check to find a scanner." I know the scanner has a pair of little buttons on the back. These cycle up/down a counter. I think it goes 0-7. Any thoughts on what that does, or how to proceed troubleshooting? I think my next step is to try each of those numbers, and do both pc booted first, and scanner booted first for each of those numbers...

  • Did Adobe Photoshop just killed my Graphics Card for good?

    I was working with Adobe Photoshop, just some regular work, when I came to edit a PSD file and change the text of some layer, when all of a sudden the PC froze. No mouse, screen is frozen, keyboard strokes aren't getting me anything, no Task Manager, nada. So I rebooted my PC, and then something quite terrifying appeared before my eyes. It was not the Checkdisk utility that was launched, that made me terrified (by the way, that reboot damaged the partition table of an external HDD that was connected at the time to my PC, but that's another story). It was the screen itself. Please have a look. So after Checkdisk finished and Windows loaded, I noticed that the resolution was not right. Instead of 1440x900 which I had set, it was 1280x1024. When I went to change it back, I had no option to change back to my old resolution, and has only 3 other general resolution properties, as if my Video Card (GeForce 8800 GTS btw) was not recognized. And what do you know, in the Device Manager it appeared with an exclamation mark. Inside the hardware, it said this: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) Uninstalling the drivers, downloading the newest drivers from NVIDIA and installing them did not work. It always comes back to this. So, do you have any advice before I go out and buy a new graphics card? I thought this was the only option left, but maybe the experts at Super User can help me out. By the way, the dotted screen appears after every reboot, and I see the dots when the ASUS Motherboard screen shows up at boot. Thanks in advance.

  • Windows 7, enabeling IE for removal

    For a while now, Windows Update has been prompting me to update IE9 to IE10. And every time I turn off my PC, It starts to install that one update wich allways fails. Why does it fail updating IE9? I don't know. So the solution I had in my mind was to remove IE9 and then install IE10 manually. THe problem is now, I can't find the uninstall file for IE9. I have looked in windows control panel / programs and features but it didn't show up, not even in the installed updates section. So after I clicked on Turn windows features on or off, I saw that the IE9 box wasn't checked. So I checked it, clicked OK, but then when I clicked on the Turn windows features on or off link again, it wasn't checked anymore. It's almost like Windows doesn't want me to uninstall IE9. but I have to in order to normally shut down my pc, because everytime I shut my PC off, it tries to install that stupid update again! What can I do to solve this?

  • Server taking too long to respond error

    Hi, This is my first post on serverFault and my first entry in to web server configuration. The hardware and software. CPU: GenuineIntel, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz OS: Linux 2.6.18-128.el5 Memory: 2Gb Background. I am running a small database (MySQL), around 1000 records with each record containing 44 fields. At the start of each day “00:01” the tables are cleared and populated with fresh data. The are 10 remote PCs all running Winodws XP and Firefox internet browser. All remote PC’s are connected to the internet using a min 4Gb broadband connection. Each remote PC runs a URL which displays a dynamic page of data which is refreshed every 20 seconds. This is a continual process 24 hours a day. I problem I am having is on odd occasions throughout the day the PC browser error with “Server taking too long to respond error”. What I am trying to find our is if I have the correct setting in the httpd.conf file on the server. Any help or advice anyone can provide would be very helpful.   • Summer daylight time not changing on some active directory domain clients.

    We just had a summer daylight change in US. and pc's on my network are behaving strange, some of them change time and some didn't. My network: 2 locations both in Midwest, same time zone. Location 1: 120 pcs (windows xp & windows 200) , with 1 Active Direcotry Domain Controller on Windows 2003 Standard. A couple of windows 2000 servers (they up to date) the rest of the servers are Xen or Debian machines (all up to date) , Second location connected through OpenVPN link all pc's are running fine - but they are all connecting to our AD domain controller. Locaiton 2: 10 pcs, and a shared LAN NAS. Both of the routers/firewalls in both locations are pFsense boxes with ntp service running - but it's up to date. Tried all the usual suspects: I have all the latest updates installed restarted them domain controller is running fine most computers are running fine I have only one domain controller on my network also my firewall serves as ntp server (pfsense) but it's up to date. all of the linux machines are fine since they are querying firewall / router for the time. about 1/3 of my pcs are 1 hour behind. If I change them manually they just change back ( the way domain pc's are supposed to). I've tried everything but I can't think of anything else to try.

  • Why can't I connect to my home SSH (SFTP) server? What am I doing wrong?

    I am new to this topic of creating a SFTP server on one's computer. I would like to be able to access the folder on my Windows XP computer via SFTP from another computer or a phone. The following is what I have done so far: I have installed SSH Windows and everything is setup correctly because I can access it (the folder on my pc) via WinSCP. I however cannot access it from my phone. It doesn't connect. The phone can be on the same wireless network as the Windows XP computer, but I would prefer to be able to access this when not in the same network. Now, from what I have read and understood, the following is the information needed to connect: 1) Host Name: This would be my computer's ip address which I access by typing ipconfig in a cmd prompt (I access this easily on my computer because I simply put in localhost or 127.0.0.1) 2) Port Number: That would be port 22 (I have also added this to my router in the port forwarding section). 3) Username: This would be my Windows XP username. This however is my full name, including my middle initial followed by a period. I am wondering if this is maybe causing problems in accessing it from my phone, since the name has spaces and punctuation (the period). 4) Password: The password of my Windows XP computer Extra Info: When I say phone, I mean an Android phone and I am using an ftp / sftp app to access my pc via the phone's cellular network (I also tried the wireless, but that didn't work as well). I have tried more than one program. On one program it tells me Connection timed out and on another it tells me "timeout:socket is not established" Also, I know that I can use the site noip, but I prefer to connect this way first. Also, because I am new to this, I would like to look into what exactly noip is doing and if they would be seeing my files as they are transferred from phone to pc.   • Cannot access website using host headers on local windows 7 and iis 7

    I have problem of accessing my website created using visual studio on my local pc. the pc using windows 7 with static ip address has been configured and i have added a hostname "192.168.0.1 hosts myweb.mylocal.com" on c:\windows\system32\driver\etc. on the IIS i have configured the binding myweb.mylocal.com with impersonation set enabled and windows authentication is enabled. the user login just keep prompting eventhough i have entered the correct username and password.

I am trying to get the latest Android source by using the following commands: repo init -u git://android.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git The command succeeds but I am not able to see .repo directory created. repo sync This command also succeeds and the program shows the details of objects being received.
