• SARA Security Auditor Alternative

  I have attempted to install and run Sara, but it seems that the software is broken. I could get it to run on 127.0.0.1, but it seems that no network packets ever leave the current computer that it is installed on. It tests for known security holes in a network. It was based on an older software SATAN. Is there another free alternative to this program? I did not see anything listed in this thread.

  Does anyone know if it's possible to switch from a hardware based RAID0 to a software one? Have a broken raid controller (vintage, wont find it anywhere) but I know the Array is in good conditions. Has anyone tried this, and/or know if its possible? Thank you for your time.

• IUSR vs. Application Pool credentials

  I have a IIS7/ASP.NET application running with the following configuration: Anonymous authentication (IUSR). Application Pool running as a domain account If IUSR is denied the "logon locally", then it appears that ASPX pages will still render their HTML, but static content such as images will not be delivered. I'm wondering what the technical reason is for this? If IUSR is "broken", why will a request to an ASPX page be passed down the pipeline and executed, but IIS will refuse to serve an image in the same directory?

  I am looking for a utility that gives me the ability to specify a binary file format and then interpret a file of bytes according to that format. (Something along the lines of the 010 Editor, but infinitely more cost-effective). Something that runs on Mac OS X would be preferred, but I'm interested to see what all is out there in general (while more of a hassle I'd be willing to run a tool on Windows if it were superior.) What's your preference?

  I'm putting together something I'll soon release as OSS and I wanted to make a map of dependencies to get a clearer idea of the big picture. I ended up making the mind map myself using pen and paper: This is something I wish I could do more often, but mapping bigger projects manually is too troublesome (and virtually impossible due to the size of the sheet) and since I can't find any mind mapping software that fits my needs and allows me to display the map in the visual structure I want I often leave the mind maps in my mind alone, no visual representation whatsoever... Can anyone suggest a good mind mapping software that allows me to do something like the above? I've tried FreeMind and XMind so far but their visual structure is too rigid for what I need.

• HP Pavilion DV6 doesn't recognize wireless networks

  Okay so about a few weeks after I got my laptop the wifi would connect and disconnect, off and on. And every time I troubleshoot it, a message comes up saying there's a network cable not properly plugged in or broken... It's been doing this for about a year and I usually just tap the bottom of the laptop or something and the wifi connects again but now it refuses to turn back on, how do I fix this?

• Copying and rotating large table from Excel to Word without turning it into picture/wmf/...

  What would be the easiest way of copying and rotating a table made in Excel, to Word without turning it into a picture/enhanced metafile/or something alike. I know I can use the Section Break routine, but the problem is the table needs to go into a company frame (which I cannot turn onto a landscape), so I literally need to turn the table by 90 degrees. Any way of doing something like that ?

  Is there a standard site structure format? The use of this would be for export and import into a CMS or framework to define the urls, content, metadata for a website.   I need to decode a URI that contains a query string; expected input/output behavior is something like the following: abstract class URIParser { /** example input: * something?alias=pos&FirstName=Foo+A%26B%3DC&LastName=Bar */ URIParser(String input) { ... } /** should return "something" for the example input */ public String getPath(); /** should return a map * {alias: "pos", FirstName: "Foo+A&B=C", LastName: "Bar"} */ public Map<String,String> getQuery(); } I've tried using java.net.URI, but it seems to decode the query string so in the above example I'm left with "alias=pos&FirstName=Foo+A&B=C&LastName=Bar" so there is ambiguity whether a "&" is a query separator or is a character in a query component. edit: just tried URI.getRawQuery() and it doesn't do the encoding, so I can split the query string with a "&", but then what do I do? Any suggestions?

I wrote a quick & dumb HqlBuilder that suits my needs for now, but I'd love to find one that has more users and tests than me alone. Note: I'd like to be able to do things like this and more, which I failed to do with the Criteria API: select stock from com.something.Stock as stock, com.something.Bonus as bonus where stock.someValue = bonus.id ie. select all stocks whose property someValue points to any bonus from the Bonus table.   Can anyone recommend (free) Thesaurus software for Windows XP (that isn't WordWeb)? It has to work with British English. I want to install standalone software that gives me easy access (right click, keyboard shortcut or something) to alternatives to the selected word when I'm writing, whether it's an email, a text doc in notepad, on an internet forum or whatever. I've tried WordWeb but found it pretty horrible - I want something that acts more like the Thesaurus in MS Word, giving a dozen or so decent alternatives to the selected word.

• Unit Testing Codeigniter Classes with fooStack - clashes

  I'm having 'fun' testing interactions in a CodeIgniter based web app. It seems when running the entire test suite "phpunit AllTests.php" it loads all of the test classes, their targets (Systems under Test) and creates a PHPUnit_Framework_TestSuite instance which presumably iterates over the classes which extend CIUnit_TestCase and runs them. The problem comes where you have multiple classes referencing another class (such as a library). As all the classes are loaded into the same process space, PHP reports "cannot redefine class xyz". Have I missed something here or doing something haenously wrong? In my test class i'm doing something like: include_once dirname(__FILE__).'/../CIUnit.php'; include_once dirname(__FILE__).'/../../libraries/ProductsService.php'; class testProductsService extends CIUnit_TestCase { public function testGetProducts_ReturnsArrayOfProducts(){ $service = new ProductsService(); $products = $service->getProducts(); $this->assertTrue(is_array($products)); } } The problem manifests as I have a controller which does: $this->load->library('ProductsService');

• Does NSArray:lastObject return an autoreleased object?

  I'm working on an iPhone project where I would like to retrieve an object from an NSMutableArray, remove the object from the array and then use it later. The code looks something like this: NSMutableArray * array; // fill the array NSObject * obj = [array lastObject]; [array removeLastObject]; // do something with obj (in the same function) array is the only entity with a retain on the object that is being accessed. Is this safe to do? I would assume that this would only work if lastObject autoreleased the object which is something that I can't figure out if it does.

• How do I detect if uTorrent is downloading?

  I need to write a script that determines whether or not uTorrent is currently downloading something. I'd rather it just be downloading, but if I cannot differentiate between downloading and uploading then it would be better than nothing. One possible way would be check the whether any files ending in .!ut are locked - but I'm hoping for something a little more elegant. My weapon of choice is VBScript but I'm happy to use the command line if needs be.
