• Zabbix - Some of the monitored items don't refreh

  I'm experiencing a strange issue with Zabbix monitoring a MySQL server. Most of the data from the server such as MySQL queries per second and MySQL uptime , Buffers memory etc. update nicely while some data like CPU iowait time (avg1) , Host local time ,MySQL number of threads and other items which were monitored in the past has last check time of about a week ago. I can't find any logic in this, for example Mysql number of threads and Mysql queries per second are obtained in a similar way so it does not make sense one of them is monitored and one is not. Please help- how can I fix this? Update - I used zabbix_get from the zabbix server to check one of the items on the zabbix client and it works so the problem must be on the zabbix server side

• Mac OS X: network disabled because security breach

  Dear all, I just recieved a message on my Mac OS X system telling me (loosely translated from Dutch): "The network has been temporarily disabled because the network's security was breached." (It's a wireless WPA2-PSK secured network BTW) I looked in the logs of my router (a Zyxel P-2602HW-D1A) only to see a few (outbound) "syn flood TCP ATTACK" logs, but those were from like a week ago, other than that nothing. What tools on Mac OS X do I have to analyse this security breach occurence? Are there some security logs on Mac OS X that I can inspect? What other measurements should I take? And how serious should I take this warning from Mac OS X? System: Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 Network: wireless WPA2-PSK Relevant software: Parallels Desktop with Windows XP (was open, but stopped at the time) Other systems on my network: Windows XP SP3 desktop (was running at the time) If you need any more info, don't hestitate to ask. • If using eMule, how to keep current downloading files while adding a hard drive?

  If there are still downloading files (ones that will need extra 2 week or unknown time because they are rare files) but need to use a new hard drive because no space is left in hard drive, then is there a way to use new hard drive while keeping existing downloads ongoing? That's because if we change the folder in eMule from G: to H:, then all existing downloads will disappear too... Update: I can move the completed files over to the new hard drive... but it is going to be a never ending task... (old hard drive gets full... move some... and repeat)

• Adobe Flash not working anymore with Browsers

  Hi guys, I have a really annoying problem: essentially, Adobe Flash is not working anymore. For instance, I cant watch any clip on youtube and I always get a black screen saying: Movie not loaded ... I have the newest Flash version (10.0.45.2), and the problem is the same with IE, Firefox or Chrome. I am using WIN XP and I turned of Antivirus software as well as Firewall, still I cant watch any flash stuff. Anyone an idea what could have happened in the last week? Never had a problem before that! Thanks!

• What does the suffix 'w' and 'd' mean with 'TIME+' in top?

But in the above output, I simply couldn't understand what 21212906w and 54518724d mean? some considerable no of processes are showing the TIME+ with w and d prefixed. What does this mean? Is the server in trouble? Just to let you know - the server uptime is 4days. EDIT: - I can guess these refer week and days. If so why is it so large considering the uptime? - The server has 8 cores.

• Streamline Active Directory account creation via automated web site

  In my company we have high employee turnover, and hence our helpdesk receives about a dozen requests per week for new Active Directory accounts. Currently, we receive these requests simply via e-mail or voice-mail, and rarely do we have all of the information necessary to create the account. I would like to find a web application that can be used by a manager or supervisor to formalize the requests they make for AD accounts for new employees under their command. Ideally, the application would prompt for all of necessary information, and allow the helpdesk to review the requests and approve or deny each one. If approved, the application would take care of creating the account and send an e-mail to the manager. I have found several application on the Internet that handle self-service account management (i.e., password resets or update contact info), which is also nice to have, but nothing that streamlines the new account request and creation part. Can anyone make suggestions on such an application? Thanks.

What is the channel utilization if a stop-and-wait protocol is used for frame transmission on a 64 Mbps point-to-point link? Assume that the frame size is 32 KB and the speed of light is 3 × 10^8 m/s. Suppose a sliding window protocol is used instead. For what send window size will the link utilization be 100%? • How can I get a scheduled task to run for a user regardless of which computer the user is logged onto?

  I've got a scheduled task that needs to run for a user at a specific time. However, the user sometimes logs onto one machine, the next day onto another, then next week onto yet another. At some pint during the day, the user might have to log onto another machine. How do I get the scheduled task to run regardless of which computer the user is using? I could of course create the task on all computers, but that seems a bit overkill. Running a script on log on (or a group policy) to create the task doesn't seem a good method either. Any ideas? Basically I want the scheduled task to be defined on the user instead of on the computer. If in the end I need to choose between the two options above, which is best?

I was recently attacked with JS:Illredir-S [Trj], I asked my hosting providers to clean it and they cleaned it and updated all passwords, but now after a week my site got infected again with JS:ScriptIP-inf [Trj]. Do you have an internal process document? Do you have cron mail you every week with reminders to check system logs? Also, do you work on a team to do system maintenance, and if so, how do you coordinate who will do what maintenance? If you use a bug/issue tracking system to enter tasks, do you have a cron job enter recurring tasks?

• How to boot windows 8 in a dual boot along with windows 7?

  I have installed a WIndows 8 evaluation about a week ago. Usually, it asks me every time I turn on my computer whether to boot into windows 8 or windows 7. The default was windows 8 after 30 seconds. I changed that just yesterday to be default windows 7 after 5 seconds. And after I changed the setting, I went ahead and went into windows 8 and did my work. Today, when I turned on my computer, it is failing to ask me which one to boot it in. It simply boots directly into Windows 7. Is there any reason for this? Can I no longer boot into Windows 8?

• Windows 7 PC crashes after being locked a few minutes

  I have a problem with an Optiplex 755 PC running (32-bit) Windows 7 Professional. I just installed the operating system last week, and ever since, it seems to crash when I lock the screen. It doesn't happen immediately; it's usually after I walk away, so a few minutes (but I'm not sure exactly how many). I have this non-specific error in the Event log. I've run a chkdsk, thinking it might be hard drive-related, but that didn't help.   The Windows (Vista) documentation and available online info is comprehensively vague. If I have a moderately brain dead system and want to restore it, and I have a "Backup and Restore Center" backup whose "delta" is not quite a week old (but with a "full backup" behind it), what steps do I go through to recover my box back to that backup point? It's totally unclear whether simply doing "restore all" from the (advanced) "Center" is sufficient, or do I need to first take the box back to day zero with the system restore DVD, et al? • XFS and loss of data when power goes down

  Each time electricity goes down, my desktop (without UPS) loses some temporary information. Opera can lose settings, history, cache, or mail accounts (Thanks heavens I was wise to use IMAP). Partially or all together. a whole file (complete and save) in Geany appeared empty (and I didn't commit it to Git) rhythmbox lost all podcasts subscription data I'm afraid there are other losses I just didn't see. What's the reason? A memory files cache, a mem-disk? Or non-atomic file writes in xfs? I have Ubuntu 9.10 and XFS on both / and /home partitions. Is ext4 safer in such circumstances? I've seen ext3 is faster. Is it as safe as *4? Given that the apartment I rent is connected to a common bus and 1 safety switch for several apartments, and the neighbors - alone or together - overload it at least once every week, the lights go down often enough for this to be an issue.

• ASA 5510 Need to filter traffic log events to my iPhone

  For some reason I cannot update apps or download apps to any ios devices on my network (tried both iphone and ipads). When I'm at home on my own network everything works fine. This started about a week ago. I've configured my iphone with a static IP address and even used 4.2.2.2 as my dns to rule out that the issue is with my DNS Server. I'm looking at the SYSLOG in ASDM (Cisco ASA 5510) but Im not sure it is providing me enough info. It seems to be showing ACL blocks on my public ip address, but not individual client IP's, so I can't see whats going on. How can I setup a way to filter any incoming/outgoing traffic to my iPhone's static IP and try and troubleshoot this?

• Instant database snapshot

  My product uses oracle 9 database in its backend. every week the new release of the product is launched which will want to fire some DML, DDL queries to the database. I usually test the product release in a dummy database before applying it in the main database. I create a database dump using exp command, then import them into dummy database using imp. then i test the product in the dummy database and checks if there are any errors. This exp and imp takes about 3 hours to complete. Is there any alternative as : instant snapshot of the live database (which will be independent of the live one)? or is there any option to keep dummydatabase in sync with the originl database always. Yhis can be done by making the product firing DML&DDL queries to both the databases.. but this will be a HUGE performance problem.. how can i overcome this?

• Windows 7 does not recognise second display output [closed]

  I've got a PC with dual BenQ G2222HDL monitors and an ATI Radeon HD 4650 video card. I've been running both monitors at 1920x1080 for some months now but last week the second monitor switched to a lower resolution and won't let me go back to 1920x1080. If I right click the Desktop and choose Screen Resolution from the menu, I get two items in the Display: drop down list BenQ G2222HDL D-SUB Display device on: VGA In the past 2 was always the same as 1. If I click Detect a third item appears Available display output on: ATI Radeon HD 4650 but if I use the Multiple displays: drop down list to use it says "No display detected" and then lets me choose from either "Connect anyway on S-Video" or "Connect anyway on Component", neither of which help. It seems like Windows 7 recognises the card is dual-head, and knows I have got two monitors, but can't link it all together. I have checked and all my drivers are up-to-date. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the second monitor working properly again?

As i mentioned in my previous problem my computer freezes while watching online videos showing 100% cpu usage. I have tried the suggestions given in that query and I have formated my whole computer and installed windows and other softwares (with latest updates) but the problem still presisting. If i watch a video online approximately after one hour my system shows very high cpu usage and when i close my browser cpu usage comes to normal(i tried to watch Cybergeddon but my computer is freezing from start,and also other youtube videos). Can you tell me whether its an hardware problem? if yes can you give any possible explanation( eg:motherboard problem,over heating etc) because i want to tell those reasons to my computer mechanic.

  Hiya, In Plesk 9.2.2 does anyone know how the following can be achieved? I've got domain1.co.uk registered in plesk, but the domain has not been set up with any nameservers or A records, so it is unreachable from the web. However, I need to test it while we get the domain1.co.uk nameservers etc sorted over the next week or so. SO, i've got sparedomain.co.uk registered, with the nameservers and A records pointing to the server, and sure enough it displays the default plesk "theres no website here yet page" . bingo. Now, how can I set up sparedomain.co.uk on my plesk server, so it displays all the data held on the plesk account for domain1.co.uk? Frame forwarding doesnt work - because you get errors saying "domain1.co.uk cannot be found" in your browser - i need a server solution to spoof it all. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

  I am hosting a mysql server in a debian 6.0.4 server hosted in linode, the new data is frequently written into the mysql server using R, about 30-40 "write" per minute, about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. • Sudden restart now chrome kills computer

  My computer suddenly restart itself the other day and when it came back up so much as clicking on the icon for Google Chrome freezes everything. I uninstalled Chrome and tried reinstalling is but as soon as the download finished, the computer froze again. I tried installing an earlier version (about a week prior) and it froze differently but still froze. I am also getting notification that the battery needs to be replaced. At the moment I am running it sans battery and using firefox and everything seems to be fine. I have a HP dv4t running Windows 7.
