  • Motion - takes snapshot without motion detected

    - by Emmanuel Brunet
I've been installed the standard motion 3.2.12 package on debian 7.5. I would like to get snapshot ONLY when motion is detected, but it still saves a picture every second without any activity in front of the camera. I'm using a TENVIS JPT3815W IP camera motion.conf here is my configuration file setup_mode off target_dir /media/videos/log/webcam netcam_url http://webcam/snapshot.cgi netcam_tolerant_check on netcam_userpass admin:alpha1237 # Output frames at 1 fps when no motion is detected and increase to the # rate given by webcam_maxrate when motion is detected (default: off) webcam_motion off output_all off # detection settings 1-255 default 32 noise_level 50 # Maximum framerate for webcam streams (default: 1) webcam_maxrate 25 pre_capture 0 framerate 25 gap 30 locate on mail [email protected] text_right "FRONT CAMERA %Y/%m/%d - %T" text_double on ffmpeg_cap_new on ffmpeg_cap_motion on ffmpeg_video_codec mpeg4 output_motion off snapshot_interval 0 # Quality of the jpeg (in percent) images produced (default: 50) quality 90 # Restrict webcam connections to localhost only (default: on) webcam_localhost off # Limits the number of images per connection (default: 0 = unlimited) # Number can be defined by multiplying actual webcam rate by desired number of seconds # Actual webcam rate is the smallest of the numbers framerate and webcam_maxrate webcam_limit 0 Issue when I start motion images are stored in /media/videos/log/webcam nearly every second. I hjust want to get images when a motion is detected and the according video clip Any idea where the configuration fails ?

  • Mission 26 Captures Endeavour’s Last Trip in Stop Motion

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
On September 21, 2012 the Space Shuttle Endeavour was delivered to the Los Angeles International Airport and spent the next three days being slowly transported 12 miles to the California Science Center. One dedicated team of photographers captured the whole thing. Lead by Matthew Givot, the group followed the shuttle for three straight days, photographing it around the clock. The Endeavor started on Thursday night and went on until Sunday night, with very little sleep to no sleep. The only thing that kept us going was pure love of the art and adrenaline. One thing that stood out the most for me, while I was shooting, was the people of Los Angeles. It was so powerful to see the excitement on peoples faces and the pride of their home town. No matter how many times I would see the Shuttle it would never get old. This has been an amazing experience that I will never forget. My hope is that this film will show you the amount of dedicated people and teamwork that it took to get the Endeavour to its new home. Enjoy. The end result of their labor is the above video, a beautiful time-lapse video of Endeavour’s journey from the airport to its hanger at the California Science Center. • Start/Stop Window Service from ASP.NET page

    - by kaushalparik27
Last week, I needed to complete one task on which I am going to blog about in this entry. The task is "Create a control panel like webpage to control (Start/Stop) Window Services which are part of my solution installed on computer where the main application is hosted". Here are the important points to accomplish:[1] You need to add System.ServiceProcess reference in your application. This namespace holds ServiceController Class to access the window service.[2] You need to check the status of the window services before you explicitly start or stop it.[3] By default, IIS application runs under ASP.NET account which doesn't have access rights permission to window service. So, Very Important part of the solution is: Impersonation. You need to impersonate the application/part of the code with the User Credentials which is having proper rights and permission to access the window service. If you try to access window service it will generate "access denied" error. The alternatives are: You can either impersonate whole application by adding Identity tag in web.cofig as:        <identity impersonate="true" userName="" password=""/>This tag will be under System.Web section. the "userName" and "password" will be the credentials of the user which is having rights to access the window service. But, this would not be a wise and good solution; because you may not impersonate whole website like this just to have access window service (which is going to be a small part of code).Second alternative is: Only impersonate part of code where you need to access the window service to start or stop it. I opted this one. But, to be fair; I am really unaware of the code part for impersonation. So, I just googled it and injected the code in my solution in a separate class file named as "Impersonate" with required static methods. In Impersonate class; impersonateValidUser() is the method to impersonate a part of code and undoImpersonation() is the method to undo the impersonation. Below is one example:  You need to provide domain name (which is "." if you are working on your home computer), username and password of appropriate user to impersonate.[4] Here, it is very important to note that: You need to have to store the Access Credentials (username and password) which you are going to user for impersonation; to some secured and encrypted format. I have used Machinekey Encryption to store the value encrypted value inside database.[5] So now; The real part is to start or stop a window service. You are almost done; because ServiceController class has simple Start() and Stop() methods to start or stop a window service. A ServiceController class has parametrized constructor that takes name of the service as parameter.Code to Start the window service: Code to Stop the window service: Isn't that too easy! ServiceController made it easy :) I have attached a working example with this post here to start/stop "SQLBrowser" service where you need to provide proper credentials who have permission to access to window service.  hope it would helps./.

  • How can I deal with actor translations and other "noise" in third-party motion capture data?

    - by Charles
I'm working on a game, and I've run into a problem with motion capture data. My team is using 3DS Max 2011 and trying to put free motion capture files on our models. The problem we're having is it has become extremely hard to find motion capture data that stays in place. We've found some great motion captures of things like walking and jumping but the actors themselves move within the data, so when we attach these animations to our models and bring them into XNA, the models walk forward even when they should technically be standing still (and then there's also the problem of them resetting at the end of the animation). How can we clean up, at runtime or asset-processing time, the animation in these motion capture files?

  • Motion Sensing Fog Machine Increases Savings and Spook Factor

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
This DIY add-on switches a standard fog machine from always-on to motion-activated–increase your savings and spook factor at the same time. Courtesy of tinker Greg, this modification involves a new relay and motion sensor mounted onto the existing switch of a store-bought fog machine. When the motion-sensor detects motion the fog machine releases a burst of fog for 5 seconds and then disarms itself for 10 seconds–long enough for the startled victim to move on and for the machine to recharge for the next passerby. Check out the video above to see it in action and then hit up the link below to see the project’s build guide. hello, i have a mathematical problem: i have a function where the only parameter is the current time. the return should be a position which is used to place an object on a certain place. int position(int time) { int x = 0; //TODO implement x depending on time return x; } so basically the function is called every frame to put the object in motion. the motion should look like this (this is the actual question): a linear motion for time A, the object moves at constant speed no motion for time B, the object is stopped repeat at 1. thanks!

  • Motion is saving images to home directory

    - by Kevin
I was interested in setting up a home security network. I installed Motion in Ubuntu 12.04 and it worked fine. Then the next day I went to play around with it some more but the images are not being saved to /tmp/motion as the configuration file states, but to the home directory: [1] File of type 1 saved to: ./01-20121126211634-12.jpg Any idea if there is another setting that has more priority than the motion config file?

  • Start/stop Windows Service A also Start/stop Windows service B

    - by Sean
I created two Windows services A and B, and would like to add dependency between them so that I can: Start service A (service B starts automatically) Stop service A (service B stops automatically) However, the command sc config ServiceA depend= ServiceB only works for: Start service A (service B starts automatically) Stop service B (service A stops automatically) Is there any way to make service B stop automatically when I stop service A?

  • motion computation from video using pyglet in python

    - by kuaywai
Hi, I am writing a simple motion detection program but i want it to be cross platform so im using python and the pyglet library since it provides a simple way to load videos in different formats (specially wmv and mpeg). So far i have the code given below which loads the movie and plays it in a window. Now i need to: 1) grab frame at time t and t-1 2) do a subtraction to see which pixels are active for motion detection. any ideas on how to grab frames and to skip over frames and is it possible to put the pixel values into a matrix in numpy or something directly from pyglet? or should look into using something other than pyglet? thanks kuaywai import pyglet import sys window = pyglet.window.Window(resizable=True) window.set_minimum_size(320,200) window.set_caption('Motion detect 1.0') video_intro = pyglet.resource.media('movie1.wmv') player = pyglet.media.Player() player.queue(video_intro) print 'calculating movie size...' if not player.source or not player.source.video_format: sys.exit myWidth = player.source.video_format.width myHeight = player.source.video_format.height if player.source.video_format.sample_aspect 1: myWidth *= player.source.video_format.sample_aspect elif player.source.video_format.sample_aspect < 1: myHeight /= player.source.video_format.sample_aspect print 'its size is %d,%d' % (myWidth,myHeight) player.play() @window.event def on_draw(): window.clear() (w,h) = window.get_size() player.get_texture().blit(0, h-myHeight, width=myWidth, height=myHeight) pyglet.app.run()

  • Slow motion tween text isn't smooth

    - by Alex
Hi! i have to create a movie where a text string move in horizontal. the problem is that in the movie (800px wide) the text should go from right to left in about 7 seconds (so it have to go about 400px to the left in 7 sec). i created a motion-tween with ease for my "text" and the tween is long (at 30fps) 30*7=210 frames. the result is that the text DON'T MOVE FLUID... it's not a uniform movement... it's too visible the fact that it moves X pixel each x frames. it's the exact opposite of SMOOTH MOVEMENT. How can i obtain a smooth slow-motion text movement?

  • SDK mouse relative motion, weird results

    - by zaftcoAgeiha
    I have a simple SDL application that tracks the relative change in mouse position But for some reason, the motion.xrel and motion.yrel give back massive numbers! my code: SDL_WM_GrabInput(SDL_GRAB_ON); SDL_ShowCursor(false); while(!quit){ // Draw the scene if (invalidated == 1){ on_render(); invalidated = 0; } // And poll for events SDL_PumpEvents(); SDL_Event event; while ( SDL_PollEvent(&event) ) { switch (event.type) { case SDL_KEYDOWN: case SDL_KEYUP: on_key(event.key); break; case SDL_MOUSEMOTION: std::cerr << event.motion.xrel << ":" << event.motion.yrel << std::endl; invalidated = 1; break; ... and the printed results are ridiculous: 400:300 -11297:1705 -11215:1268 -10969:940 -10314:-43 -9986:-698 -9331:-1681 -9003:-2227 -8593:-2664 -8020:-3538 -7774:-3647 -7365:-4193 -7283:-4302 -7119:0 any idea why??   • OpenGL Motion blur with the accumulation buffer

    - by Klaus
Hello, I'm trying to achieve a motion blur effect in my OpenGL application. I read somewhere this solution, using the accumulation buffer: glAccum(GL_MULT, 0.90); glAccum(GL_ACCUM, 0.10); glAccum(GL_RETURN, 1.0); glFlush(); at the end of the render loop. But nothing happens... What I am missing ?

  • Motion detection in compressed domain (JPEG/Mpeg4/H264)

    - by paft
everyone! I process video from IP cameras and have wrote a motion detection algorithm based on decompressed video analysis. But i really something more fast. I've found several papers about compressed domain analysis but have failed to find any implementations. Can anyone recommend me some code? found materials: http://www.ist-live.org/intranet/school-of-informatics-university-of-bradford001-7/41410206.pdf/view http://doc.rero.ch/lm.php?url=1000,43,4,20061128120121-NA/Bracamonte_Javier_-_A_Low_Complexity_Change_Detection_Algorithm_20061128.pdf

  • OpenGL Motion blur with the accumulation buffer in WxWidgets

What am I missing ? Additions after genpfault answer: Indeed I did not asked for an accumulation buffer when I initialized my context. So I tried to pass an array of attributes to the constructor of my wxGLCanvas, as described here: http://docs.wxwidgets.org/2.6/wx_wxglcanvas.html : int attribList[]={ WX_GL_RGBA , WX_GL_DOUBLEBUFFER , WX_GL_MIN_ACCUM_RED, WX_GL_MIN_ACCUM_GREEN, WX_GL_MIN_ACCUM_BLUE, 0} But all I get is a friendly Seg fault. Does someone understand how to use this ? (no problems with int attribList[]={ WX_GL_RGBA , WX_GL_DOUBLEBUFFER , 0})

  • Is android's motion event handling accurate??

    - by Peterdk
Bug I have a weird bug in my piano app. Sometimes keys (and thus notes) hang. I did a lot of debugging and narrowed it down to what looks like androids inaccuracy of motion event handling: DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_DOWN A4 DEBUG/(2091): KeyDown: A4 DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_MOVE A4 => A4 DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_MOVE ignoring DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_MOVE A4 => A4 DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_MOVE ignoring DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_MOVE A4 => A4 DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_MOVE ignoring DEBUG/(2091): ACTION_UP B4 //HOW CAN THIS BE???? DEBUG/(2091): KeyUp: B4 DEBUG/(2091): Stream is null, can't stop DEBUG/(2091): Hanging Note: A4 X=240-287 EventX=292 Y=117-200 EventY=164 DEBUG/(2091): KeyUp Note: B4 X=288-335 EventX=292 Y=117-200 EventY=164 Clearly it can be seen here that out of nowhere I suddenly have an ACTION_UP for another note. Shouldn't I definitely get a ACTION_MOVE first? As shown in the end of the log, it's definitely not an error in region detection, since the ACTION_UP event is clearly in the B4 region. Logging Implementation details Every onTouchEvent() call is logged, so the log is accurate. The relevant pseudo-code for the ACTION_MOVE logging is: Key oldKey = Key.get(event.getHistoricalX(), event.getHistoricalY()); Key newKey = Key.get(event.getX(), event.getY()); Question Is this normal behaviour for Android (the jumping in coordinates)? Am I missing something?

  • Activate Your Monitor via Motion Trigger

    - by ETC
Most people are in the habit of jiggling their mouse or tapping their keyboard when they want to wake their monitor. This clever electronics hack adds a sensor to your computer for motion-based monitor activation. At the DIY and electronics blog Radio Etcetera they tackled an interesting project and shared the build guide. Their local volunteer fire department needed a monitor on for quick information checks but they didn’t need it on all the time and they didn’t want to have to walk over and activate the monitor when they needed it. The solution involved hacking a simple infrared security sensor and wiring it via USB to send a mouse command when motion is detected in the room. Fire fighter walks in, monitor turns on and displays information; fire fighter leaves and the monitor goes back to sleep.
