• WPF - Virtualizing an ItemsControl?

  I have an ItemsControl containing a list of data that I would like to virtualize, however VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" does not seem to work with an ItemsControl. Is this really the case or is there another way of doing this that I am not aware of? To test I have been using the following block of code: <ItemsControl VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=AccountViews.Tables[0]}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Initialized="TextBlock_Initialized" Margin="5,50,5,50" Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> If I change the ItemsControl to a ListBox, I can see that the Initialized function only runs a handful of times (the huge margins are just so I only have to go through a few records), however as an ItemsControl every item gets initialized. I have tried setting the ItemsControlPanelTemplate to a VirtualizingStackPanel but that doesn't seem to help.

I have a dynamic list of data, which i try to display in the HTML Table format using h:dataTable (the bounded value is an arrayList). The table has got a radio button for each row it displays (boolean w/ h:selectOneRadio ) now when i select the radio button in one of these rows, i want to get the values of the row that is selected for which i try to use binding attribute. But i get Row Unavailable exception - is my approach wrong? any suggestions?

• Delayed "rendering" of WPF/Silverlight Dependency Properties?

  Is there a way to know the first time a Dependency Property is accessed through XAML binding so I can actually "render" the value of the property when needed? I have an object (class derived from Control) that has several PointCollection Dependency Properties that may contain 100's or 1000's of points. Each property may arrange the points differently for use in different types shapes (Polyline, Polygon, etc - its more complicated then this, but you get the idea). Via a Template different XAML objects use TemplateBinding to access these properties. Since my object uses a Template I never know what XAML shapes may be in use for my object - so I never know what Properties they may or may not bind to. I'd like to only fill-in these PointCollections when they are actually needed. Normally in .NET I'd but some logic in the Property's getter, but these are bypassed by XAML data binding. I need a WPF AND Silverlight compatible solution. I'd love a solution that avoids any additional complexities for the users of my object.

It works if this following line is present in my CS file: DataContext = this; But I want to avoid any programatically databinding. • How can I stop Silverlight DataForm immediately saving changes back to underlying object?

  I have a Silverlight master-details DataForm where the DataForm represents a street address. When I edit the Address1 textbox, the value gets automatically committed to the bound Address object once focus leaves the textbox. If I hit the Cancel button, then any changes are undone because Address implements IEditableObject and saves its state. The problem is that since any change is immediately propagated to the underlying object it will be shown in the master grid before the user has actually hit Save. I also have other locations where this data is shown. This is not a very good user experience. I've tried OneWay binding but then I can't commit back without manually copying all the fields over. The only thing I can think of doing is to create a copy of the data first or using OneWay binding, but they both seem a little clumsy. Does DataForm support this way of working?

Now, what a grid does behind the scene when binding data to it is cycling through the binded data. How can I access the "Current Item" to make operations on each item while binding? Thanks

• Seam/JSF/Facelets Compiler or Validator (equivalent of JspC for JSP)

  Is there such a thing as JspC in the Seam/JSF/Facelets world? I used the Tomcat's JspC to validate a JSP/Struts application to validate if there are typos in the JSPs or some JSP was calling a Java function that didn't exist, etc. etc. From time to time I come across bugs in my current project (Seam/Facelets/RichFaces) where it's caused by a typo in action/value binding. And I think bugs like these can be caught using a program. Just wondering if someone has already written one. Basically a tool that can validate if the method/value binding are correct. I know this would be specially hard in Seam since names are Context sensitive and the tool should somehow figure out what the context is. But I think it should be easier to just check if the names are valid and the Objects bound to those names have the methods and/or properties being referred to in the JSF page. Thanks

  Been trying to figure out, how do I capture the events from a listbox. In the template, I've added the parameter IsChecked="" which starts my method. However, the problem is trying to capture what has been checked in the method. • What does this WCF error mean: "Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType"

  I created a WCF service library project in my solution, and have service references to this. I use the services from a class library, so I have references from my WPF application project in addition to the class library. Services are set up straight forward - only changed to get async service functions. Everything was working fine - until I wanted to update my service references. It failed, so I eventually rolled back and retried, but it failed even then! So - updating the service references fails without doing any changes to it. Why?! The error I get is this one: Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'MyServiceReference'. Please check other error and warning messages for details. The warning gives more information: Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType Detail: An exception was thrown while running a WSDL import extension: System.ServiceModel.Description.DataContractSerializerMessageContractImporter Error: List of referenced types contains more than one type with data contract name 'Patient' in namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/MyApp.Model'. Need to exclude all but one of the following types. So; in the "Configure service reference" for the service I uncheck the "Reuse types in the referenced assemblies" checkbox. Rebuilding now it all works fine without problems. But what did I really change? Will this make an impact on my application? And when should one uncheck this? I do want to reuse the types I've set up DataContract on, but no more. Will I still get access to those without this checked?

• Certificate Information from WCF Service using Transport security mode

  Is there any way to pull information about which client certificate was used inside of my web service method when using <security mode="Transport>? I sifted through OperationContext.Current but couldn't find anything obvious. My server configuration is as follows: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="SecuredBasicBindingCert"> <security mode="Transport"> <message clientCredentialType="Certificate" /> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> I'm working with a third party pub/sub system who is unfortunately using DataPower for authentication. It seems like if I'm using WCF with this configuration, then I'm unable to glean any information about the caller (since no credentials are actually sent). I somehow need to be able to figure out whose making calls to my service without changing my configuration or asking them to change their payload.

  A note - the classes I have are EntityObject classes! I have the following class: public class Foo { public Bar Bar { get; set; } } public class Bar : IDataErrorInfo { public string Name { get; set; } #region IDataErrorInfo Members string IDataErrorInfo.Error { get { return null; } } string IDataErrorInfo.this[string columnName] { get { if (columnName == "Name") { return "Hello error!"; } Console.WriteLine("Validate: " + columnName); return null; } } #endregion } XAML goes as follows: <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" DataContext="{Binding Foo.Bar}"> <TextBox Text="{Binding Path=Name, ValidatesOnDataErrors=true}"/> </StackPanel> I put a breakpoint and a Console.Writeline on the validation there - I get no breaks. The validation is not executed. Can anybody just press me against the place where my error lies?

• Nested ComboBox doesn't update source by selection.

I am using a ComboBox bound under a DataContext: <tk:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource CategoriesCollection}" DisplayMemberPath="Title" SelectedItem="{Binding Category}" /> </DataTemplate> </tk:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> When the row is initiated the value of Category is null. Once I select the first value in the ComboBox it sets it up. But when I select another value, it doesn't get changed.

• MaxReceivedMessageSize adjusted, but still getting the QuotaExceedException with WCF

  Hey guys, First of all, i have read the "millions" of post on this site and some blogs/forum post on other websites, and no answer is solving my problem. I'm my app, there's a possibility to import a txt or csv file with data. In the case of the error, the file contains 444 rows (file is 14,5 kB). When i try to send it to the server to process it, i get an QuotaExceedException, telling me to increase MaxReceivedMessageSize. So i changed it to a much higher value, but i'm still getting the same exception. I'm using the same exact items for client and server in system.servicemodel in my config file. • Trouble using CollectionViewSource in Silverlight

  Hi, I having some trouble when implementing the CollectionViewSource in silverlight. I'm new in this topic, so basically I've been following what I find searching through the web. Here's what I've been trying to do so far. • [WPF] SelectionChanged of a child ListBox

  Hi, I have a ListBox bound to an ObservableCollection with an ItemTemplate that contains another ListBox. First of all, I tried to get the last selected item of all the listboxes (either the parent and the inner ones) from my MainWindowViewModel this way: public object SelectedItem { get { return this.selectedItem; } set { this.selectedItem = value; base.NotifyPropertyChanged("SelectedItem"); } } So, for example, in the DataTemplate of the items of the parent ListBox I've got this: <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Tails}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=DataContext.SelectedItem, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"/> The problem now, is that when I select an item from the parent ListBox and then an item from a child listbox, I get this: http://i40.tinypic.com/j7bvig.jpg As you can see, two items are selected at the same time.   What should be specified on the client side? Is this enough: binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.Digest; ... cf.Credentials.HttpDigest.ClientCredential = new NetworkCredential("myuser", "mypass", "mydomain"); cf.Credentials.HttpDigest.AllowedImpersonationLevel = TokenImpersonationLevel.Impersonation; What should be specified on the server side? obviously one needs: binding.Security.Transport.ClientCredentialType = HttpClientCredentialType.Digest; but where do one specify in the server the digest username\password to validate the client against? In addition when Micosoft says that Digest Authentication uses the Domain Controller, what does it mean? Does it validate username\password against it?
