• Can I Define Exceptions to Eclipse cleanup rules?

  Most often the cleanup rules (Preferences Java Code Style Clean Up) in Eclipse work perfectly and create nice-looking code. But sometimes, especially with comments and concatenated string snippets (like inline SQL queries), the cleanup just messes things up, and destroys my formatting. Is there a way to say to Eclipse "Don't touch this block of text! I have formatted it just the way I like, and you would make it just less readable"?

  Hey, I've got a repeater which is placed inside an updatepanel. When the user enters a new value, the repeater is updated without a postback. Is it possible to get the row that was updated in JQuery so that I can place an effect on it to make the change less subtle? • Quicktime logo! Can it be hidden / disabled?

  Hi there, just wondering if it is possible to hide/disable the quicktime logo when displaying .MOV video on my site? Because the size of the video is large (3MB), I have included a rotating loading animation, however once the video player loads, the Quicktime logo hides the animation, which makes the user less likely in my opinion to wait for the movie to load?   Hi there, I would like to be advised on what would be better (in regards to performance) A) 1 DATABASE with 4 tables or B) 2 DATABASES (same server), each with 2 tables. The tables size and usage are more or less similar, so the 2 tables on Database 1 would be similar usage/size to the 2 tables on database 2 The tables could have +500,000 records and the 2 tables on each database are not related (no join queries etc between them) Thanks in advance for your comments

  I am using the Jquery Validation plug-in, however i need to add a "custom rule", i have 2 date fields and i need to ensure that the end date is not less than the start date. My problem is how to pass the two fields in as elements. As i understand u set up a custom function something like this : function customValidationMethod(value, element, params){ } But can't see how i could use it with two fields, if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

• Zend_Registry - Do you need getInstance() ?

  Hey I'm wondering when accessing Zend_Registry in an application if you need to include getInstance() and if so, why? for example Zend_Registry::getInstance()-get('db'); vs. Zend_Registry::get('db'); they both seem to work with the later being less verbose. I vaguely understand that Zend_Registry is a singleton, which I think means there can only be one instance of it? so why would you need getInstance()?

  suppose we have simple polygon(without holes) with vertices (v0,v1,....vn) my aim is to determine if for given point p(x,y) any line segment connecting this point and any vertices of polygon is inside polygon or even for given two point p(x0,y0) `p(x1,y1)` line segment connecting these two point is inside polygon? i have searched many sites about this ,but i am still confused,generally i think we have to compare coordinates of vertices and by determing coordinates of which point is less or greater to another point's coordinates,we could determine location of any line segment,but i am not sure how correct is this,please help me

  I'm looking at writing a application that need to be able to handle in the region of 200 connections / sec and was wondering if C# and .NET will handle this or if I need to really be looking at C++ to do this? It looks like SocketAsyncEventArgs may be the way to go but thought id check before I plough in to it. Each transaction should only last less than a second but could take up to 15 seconds each if that makes any difference.
