  • OPENGL Android getting the coordinates of my image

    I used the codes from the following the website. And it helped a lot to draw the required object on my screen. But the problem I am facing is getting the coordinates of my object. Let me explain. According to the code. You just need to add your graphic images in PNG format and refer it to the class here. What I am trying to achieve is a simple collision detection mechanism. I have added a maze (as PNG). And have a object (as PNG) to go through the blank path within the maze. In order to do this I need to know the blank spaces within the coordinates through which my object will move. Can any one tell me how to get the blank spaces as (x,y) coordinates through which I can take my object?

    In my Android app, I want to use a single variable for the log name in multiple files. At the moment, I'm specifying it separately in each file, e.g. public final String LOG_NAME = "LogName"; Log.d(LOG_NAME, "Logged output); I've tried this: public final String LOG_NAME = (String) getText(R.string.app_name_nospaces); And while this works in generally most of my files, Eclipse complains about one of them: The method getText(int) is undefined for the type DatabaseManager I've made sure I'm definitely importing android.content.Context in that file. If I tell it exactly where to find getText: Multiple markers at this line - Cannot make a static reference to the non-static method getText(int) from the type Context - The method getText(int) is undefined for the type DatabaseManager I'm sure I've committed a glaringly obvious n00b error, but I just can't see it! Thanks for all help: if any other code snippets would help, let me know.

  • Sources from referenced projects are not deployed to Tomcat in Eclipse

    Hi, I have setup a dynamic web project in eclipse with JSF in which I trust on code from another project (framework). Therefore, I added the framework project to the build path of the website project. So far so good, Eclipse recognises every class and the project builds without errors. Problem is though that when I do "run on server" to test it on tomcat 6.0.24, the application fails. I get ClassNotFoundException on every class from the framework project. Is this a bug or is some specific configuration necessary for this?

    I want to perform some action ONLY IF my string has a meaningful value. So, I tried this. if (!myString.eqauls("")) { doSomething } and this if (!myString.eqauls(null)) { doSomething } and this if ( (!myString.eqauls("")) && (!myString.eqauls(null))) { doSomething } and this if ( (!myString.eqauls("")) && (myString!=null)) { doSomething } and this if ( myString.length()>0) { doSomething } And in all cases my program doSomething in spite on the fact that my string IS EMPTY. It equals to null. So, what is wrong with that?

    How can I catch something going on if the user chooses the exit option from a menu? I mean I'd like to be able to manage the event of a user who is going to close the application but some activity is being performed so he/she shouldn't be able to exit. Here's the code I wrote.     I dont know why the sample application from the android website gives me 300+ errors when i try to run it in ecplise galileo. The application i am trying is Bluetoothchat it is straight from the sdk sample folder so it shouldn't contain any. I have added android.jar and I do have an emulator. I have tried HelloWorld and it worked..Could someone help me? Thanks

    I am running the following code every two minutes via a Timer: object = new Object(this); Potentially, this is a lot of objects being created and a lot of objects being overwritten. Do the overwritten objects get garbage collected, even with a reference to itself being used in the newly created object? I am using JDK 1.6.0_13. Thanks for the help.

  • Why are Objective-C instance variables declared in an interface?

    I'm just getting into Objective-C (Java is my primary OO language). Defining an object's instance variables in the interface instead of the class seems strange. I'm used to an interface being a public API definition with nothing besides method signatures (not counting constants here). Is there some reason that state is defined in an interface (even if it is private) and behaviour is defined in a class. It just seems odd that since objects are state+behavior that the definition would be split into two separate places. Is it a design benefit is some way? A pain in the rear issue that you are just forced to deal with in Objective-C? A non-issue, just different? Any background on why it's done this way? Or can you put object state in a class and I just haven't hit that part in my book yet?

  • Add Method to Built In Class

    I am pretty sure this is not doable, but I will go ahead and cross my fingers and ask. I am trying to add a method to a built in class. I want this method to be callable by all of the built in class's subclasses. Specifically: I have a JButton, a JTextPane, and other JComponents. I want to be able to pass in a JDom Element instead of a Rectangle to setBounds(). My current solution is to extend each JComponent subclass with the desired methods, but that is a LOT of duplicate code. Is there a way I can write the following method just one time, and have it callable on all JComponent objects?   • Beginnerquestion: How to count amount of each number drawn in a Lottery and output it in a list?

    I am writing this little Lottery application. Now the plan is, to count how often each number has been drawn during each iteration of the Lottery, and store this somewhere. My guess is that I would need to use a HashMap, that has 6 keys and increments the value by one everytime the respective keys number is drawn. But how would I accomplish this?
