  • Mass Metadata Updates with Folders

    With the release of WebCenter Content PS5, a new folder architecture called 'Framework Folders' was introduced.  This is meant to replace the folder architecture of 'Folders_g'.  While the concepts of a folder structure and access to those folders through Desktop Integration Suite remain the same, the underlying architecture of the component has been completely rewritten.  One of the main goals of the new folders is to scale better at large volumes and remove the limitations of 1000 content items or sub-folders within a folder.  Along with the new architecture, it has a new look and a few additional features have been added.  One of those features are Query Folders.  These are folders that are populated simply by a query rather then literally putting items within the folders.  This is something that the Library has provided, but it always took an administrator to define them through the Web Layout Editor.  Now users can quickly define query folders anywhere within the standard folder hierarchy.     A few links you may be interested in. This week was a big week for Microsoft with the unveiling of the developer story for Windows 8 Metro-style apps. The recorded sessions are available on channel9. Note that you can use C++ AMP in both Metro and desktop apps, and in fact even on Windows 7. Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview is now available. To download it, here is a link to a link plus context. As I previously shared, I was also speaking at BUILD on C++ AMP, and here is a direct link to that recording.     I have postfix mail agent installed and I've configured gmail relay and I could send mails from the terminal as below: root@statino1:~# mail -s "subject_here" [email protected] CC: <hit enter for empty cc> Type the mesage here press Ctrl+d I have to send a log file contents as a mail and schedule it to run everyday. How do I send log file contents as mail message, how do I automate the inputs of mail command? so that I can schedule it. Anybody has any idea?

  • No root file system - Alternate CD + LVM

    I am trying to install 11.10 as dual boot with Windows 7. I have all partitioned well as you can see here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42897978@N00/7111180385/ I burned the Alternate CD ISO to a CD. Boot from it and followed instructions to Partitioning. There, I configured the LVM partitions as follows: Volume Group ubuntu-vg - Uses Physical Volume /dev/sda7 380GB - Provides Logical Volume home-lv 60GB - Provides Logical Volume root-lv 60GB - Provides Logical Volume swap-lv 6GB That is all I want (note that my /boot is outside of LVM) Then when I say that all is Ok and to write it to disk and continue with the installation, I get the following error. !! Partition Disks No root file system No root file system is defined Please correct this from the partitioning menu. What should I fix and how? I tried issuing the "Revert changes to partitions", but nothing happens. It seems that the LVM configuration has already been written to the CD. HELP!!

    My company's management wants to deduct from the salary of under performing employees. I'm a member of the Core Strategy committee and they want my opinion also. I believe that the throughput from an employee depends on a lot of things such as the particular work assigned to them, other members of his/her team, other reasons etc. Such penalizations will be demoralizing to the people. How can I convince my management not to do so?

  • English as a system language but Russian regional settings

    I usually choose English as an installation language since I believe that the original is better than the translation. However, the environment I'm working in is mostly Russian, so I have to deal with locale specificity. Even worse is the fact that selecting English yields to royal measurement system, that is, feet, inches, and damned letter paper size. Whatever I do, I didn't manage to get rid of letter paper size - eventually here and there I stumble upon letter as a hidden default, and that spoils my prints. How can I select and use English as my language, but use metric system everywhere and a4 paper size everywhere, and Russian regional settings (date, time, decimal etc).

    I have done some reading on what URLS should look like for search engine optimisation, but I am curious to know how mine would like, I need some advice. I have a tutorial website, and my categories is something like: Web Development -> Client Side -> JavaScript So if I have a tutorial called "What is JavaScript?", is it good to have a URL that looks something like: www.MyWebsite.com/web-development/client-side/javascript/what-is-javascipt Or would something like this be more appropriate: www.MyWebsite.com/tutorials/what-is-javascipt Just curious because I also read that it is wise to have keywords in your URLs. Do I need to add the identifiers of each categories in the link as well, something like: www.MyWebsite.com/1/web-development/5/client-side/15/javascript/100/what-is-javascipt 1 is the unique identifier (primary key) of category web development 5 is the unique identifier (primary key) of category client side 15 is the unique identifier (primary key) of category javascript 100 is the unique identifier (primary key) of tutorial what is javascript UPDATE This is not a programming question so can someone please help migrate this to the correct Q&A site without devoting my questions?

    1.Its a book Workflow Interface software available at sourceforge http://bookworkflowint.sourceforge.net/ Any instructions on installing and configuring it would be great especially in windows, however I can try Linux specific ones as well. I could not find any installation instructions. I posted this in stackoverflow by mistake and was directed here. 2.Can you guys suggest any good scanning/digitization workflow software (document imaging) that I can adopt to my scanner software? Infact even a simple one would do may be based on hotfolders. I just want to be able to track the uniqueid/barcode of the scanned book, its status so that its not scanned again. It books or manuscripts could be in millions page count. I thought of using some kind of generic bug tracking tool, just track a few fields, dont know if its the right choice Thank you very much

When you build a method for connecting users, do you prefer to use a following-style system (follow me, you can see all of my information and I can just choose to follow you back), or instead do you choose to have a friends-style system (I have to allow you see all of my information on your homepage, even if it is open to the public, vise versa). Why and under what circumstances do you use each? How do you manage privacy between your users? Have you use another way to connect your users? Examples of what methods you've choose and how you manage the user's privacy (private by default vs open to the web) are awesome; it could show correlation and provides an actual look.

  • Convert rotation from Right handed System to left handed

    I have Euler angles from a right handed system that I am trying to convert to a left handed system. All the information that I have read online says that to convert it simply multiply the axis and the angle in the correct order and it should work. In other words, Z * Y * X. When I do this what I see in Maya, and in engine still do not match up. This is what I have so far: static Quaternion ConvertToRightHand(Vector3 Euler) { Quaternion x = Quaternion.AngleAxis(-Euler.x, Vector3.right); Quaternion y = Quaternion.AngleAxis(Euler.y, Vector3.up); Quaternion z = Quaternion.AngleAxis(Euler.z, Vector3.forward); return (z * y * x); } Keeping the -Euler.x helps keep the object pointing up correctly, but when I pass ( 0,0,0) to face in the -z, it faces in the +z. Help :/

    I'm building a content management system, and need advice on which theming structure should I adopt. A few options (This is not a complete list): Wordpress style: the controller decides what template to load based on the user request, like: home page / article archive / single article page etc. each of these templates are unrelated to other templates, and must exist within the theme the theme developer decides if (s)he want to use inner-templates (like "sidebar", "sidebar item"), and includes them manually where (s)he thinks are needed. Drupal style: the controller gives control to the theme developer only to inner-templates; if they don't exist it falls back internally to some default templates (I find this very restrictive) Funky style: the controller only loads a "index.php" template and provides the theme developer conditional tags, which he can use to include inner-templates if (s)he wants. Among these styles, or others what style of template system allows for fast development and a more concise design and implementation.

  • Unity Particle System collision detection problem

    I'm using Unity 3.5.5f3 wich has the Shuriken particle system. I've made a blood particle system based on Unity's demos. (Exploding paint [Blood]) The blood is flowing and when it collides with a Plane Transform wich I've created a small pool of blood spawns as a Collision Sub Emitter. My main problem is that when I want to add another object to collide it just doesn't want to work. When I create a cube, and set it as a collision plane the collision will only occur at the half of the cube. I want this to happen: When it reaches the cube's surface the sub emmiter activates, and when the surface is horizontal it appears horizontally, and if it's vertical then vertically. Now it just appears horizontally everytime like in the picture. How could I solve it?
