  • view update problem on transition

    Hello, when flip from one view to a new one, I get refreshing problem. New view contains a navigationItem with two buttons, one right, one left and when transition starts, I see buttons on opposite sides and not correctly positioned until the transition ends. Then view is showed correctly according to xib file. How to solve it??

  • Looking for marg_setValue fix in iPhoneOS

    I am trying to compile a library originally written for Cocoa. Things are good until it looks for the function marg_setValue(). It says there is a syntax error before char in marg_setValue(argumentList,argumentOffset,char,(char)lua_toboolean(state,luaArgument)); (it's talking about the third argument, not (char) ) I am trying to port LuaObjectiveCBridge to the iPhone. It has two choices, either using Runtime or Foundation. I have discovered there are some problems with foundation so I am trying runtime. But the compiler is not co-operating.

    Hi all, I'm creating a myDb.plist file in my resources folder and trying to read it, but it's not getting read. I'm using the following code. NSString* plistPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myDb" ofType:@"plist"]; contentArray = [NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:plistPath]; contentArray is showing null.   • Using Singleton synchronized array with NSThread

    I have a books app with a UISearchBar, where the user types any book name and gets search results (from ext API call) below as he types. I am using a singleton variable in my app called retrievedArray which stores all the books. @interface Shared : NSObject { NSMutableArray *books; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *books; + (id)sharedManager; @end This is accessed in multiple .m files using NSMutableArray *retrievedArray; ...in the header file retrievedArray = [[Shared sharedManager] books]; My question is how do I ensure that the values inside retrievedArray remain synchronized across all the classes. Actually the values inside retrievedArray gets added through an NSXMLParser (i.e. through external web service API). There is a separate XMLParser.m file, where I do all the parsing and fill the array. If user types fast and clicks on A in List view, he is shown B in detail view...That is the main issue. I have tried literally all the solutions I could think of, but am still unable to fix the issue. Please suggest some suitable fixes.

Can someone point me to right directions here ?

Is there a smart way for me to set a top level exception handler somewhere to see what is causing it? I can't replicate the problem myself, but a few of my beta users certainly can.   • Strategy to keep track of stored files in the documents directory?

    In my app, the user can save his input to disk. This is done with NSKeyedArchiver. Currently I simply name my files with a timestamp. But of course, the user may want to load one of them back in to keep on editing them. What would be the most reliable / safe strategy to keep track of those files? I need to present the user a list of those files, so that he can choose one to open. Currently I think of making an archived NSMutableArray which simply stores the file names, but I feel that this strategy is not really good. We all know when we save files sometimes something goes wrong, and this seems very likely to get currupted easily, or not? How would you do it?

  • NSURL not instantiating properly

    Hi, I am new to IPhone developing. I have got very strange issue with NSURL which is driving me crazy. I want to instantiate NSURL object to use it in loading image. But instantiation never happens in proper way. It always says my url in invalid. Basically I use code like below: NSString *str = @"http://google.com"; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:str]; but I also have tried a lot of different modifications (with CFStringRef + CFURLCreateStringByAddingPercentEscapes and so on). All of them are not working for me. In debugger url is set to "Invalid". What it could be? I don't think this is algorithmic or environment issue. It could be about some settings? Have anyone any idea of what happens?

  • How to programatically set cell.textLabel.text from a different view?

    I've got a view controller, call it VC1, that's a table view. When I tap a cell in the table view, I am presented with a new view controller, call it VC2, which is a short list of choices. After making a choice, I want to dismiss VC2 and set the cell.textLabel.text property of the VC1 cell I originally tapped to the value I selected in VC2. Conceptually speaking, what is the proper way to do this? I've tried a handful of different approaches, but all of them seem wonky at best, and only one of them actually worked - although it was the most cumbersome of all, passing references to both view controllers and table view cells and all kinds of things. It just feels like I'm making a mountain out of what is probably a mole hill. This is such a common paradigm that I find it hard to believe there's not a simple method for doing it. Thanks in advance for any input you can offer.

I made an outlet: IBOutlet UIWebView *browser; Defined it as a property: @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWebView *browser; Synthethized it: @synthesize browser; Finally, I connected it in Interface Builder, really it is. Then I try to do something with it i.e.: [browser loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://apple.com"]]]; Or also: Etape *etape = [[Etape alloc] init]; NSString *html = [etape generateHTMLforEtape:[current_etape objectAtIndex:0]]; [browser loadHTMLString:html baseURL:nil]; [etape release]; I get no errors, I tried to Build & Analyse, no notices or warnings or errors..   • Remove year component from NSDateFormatter style

    I would like to present a date in the kCFDateFormatterFullStyle, but without the year. Is there any way to remove the year component from this style? My app requires localization so practically I cannot programmatically set the format string for all locales. I have come accross a solution which removes the "y" characters from the format string returned by the built in styles. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable as the year components are not represented by "y" in some other languages like Japanese. Any suggestions to get the kCFDateFormatterFullStyle without the year would be great! Thanks.

    I am working on a simple app tab-bar based application that has two views. The first is the main application and the second is a simple instruction screen. What I am trying to do is create a update a label on that second screen as things change in the main app. Because the second screen is only simple with one label and some text I am not unloading it once its loaded. After the first viewDidLoad I can update the label just fine, but after that is there a way to catch successive view switches from the tab-bar menu so I can update the label? many thanks gary

  • I can't use dashes in XPATH on iphone using libxml2

    I'm trying to parse HTML data using KissXML for iphone. I've noticed that I can't have dashes in the id() tag, otherwise it won't evaluate. For example, if I'm trying to get the element at I would do id("foo") However, if I try to get at element , and I try id("foo-bar") the libxml2 XPATH engine doesn't seem to return anything. It works using the XPATH check for firefox, though. Anyone run into this issue and know of a reason why it's happening or have a workaround (besides using the absolute XPATH path?)

    This code works to rotate: CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(radians(lastAngle++)); anImage.transform = transform; and this code works to move my UIImageView CGRect frame = [anImage frame]; frame.origin.x+=1; frame.origin.y+=1; [anImage setFrame:frame]; but when I combine them, the image stretches out increasingly on each run through. Perhaps the frame should not be modified like this?

    I have nested scrollViews (or rather a subclass of UIScrollView inside of an actual scrollview). I set the size of the inner view to its contentSize and set scrollEnabled = NO, because I only want the outside view scrolling. But the innerView occasionally eats touches and keeps the outerView from scrolling when it should. Is there something else I need to set to keep it from stealing the scrolling touches, but still allowing user interaction (e.g. editing a textView)?

For example, after I detect that some resources might no longer be used in a cache, I might call: [self performSelector:@selector(cleanupCache) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.5]; However, there might be numerous places where I detect this, and I don't want to be calling cleanupCache continuously. I'd like to consolidate multiple calls to cleanupCache so that we only periodically get ONE call to cleanupCache. Here's what I've come up with do to this-- is this the best way?
