I am thinking of how I can implement std::vector from the ground up.
How does it resize the vector?
realloc only seems to work for plain old stucts, or am I wrong?
I've almost finished my app and I'm thinking about integrating AdMob there. But, in my mind, ads create bad impressions. How much do you earn by adding AdMob to your app? Is adding ads worthy of it?
Hi All,
I'm writing a program in C++ which do some special treatment for all the files in the current directory on Linux OS.
So i was thinking of using system calls such as system("ls") to get the list of all files.
but how to store it then inside my program ? ( how to redirect the output of ls to let's say a string that i declared in the program )
Thanks
The goal is to have an application that runs in the system tray and can either accept user input from its actual GUI (which isn't the actual issue) OR accept command line parameters (that would actually be done via a context menu in windows explorer). Now, while I'm aware that the command line parameters are not exactly possible once the application has started, I need a way to pass data to the already running application instance via some form of handler. I'm thinking maybe define and raise some sort of event?
Thanks in advance.
I have a number of users which are logged in at a time in my desktop application.
They are working on the same table (create, read, update, delete data) so I have to update their views, to reflect changes, every few seconds - currently I am thinking to use a different thread to do that.
I am using the MySQL database engine.
Is there a way, using JDBC, to listen for changes on a specific table in the database and triggering a Java method only when changes are made?
I want to implement a layering system in my application and was thinking of creating a bunch of transparent bitmaps, adding content to them then blitting them on top of each other, how can this be done without setting each pixel to (0,0,0,0). I'm using Pure win32, not MFC, thanks.
Why is Fedora chosen by so many developers in preference to Ubuntu? I'm using Ubuntu for software development for some time now, and I'm quite happy with it but I'm thinking to give Fedora a try. So, what are the pros/cons for using Fedora for software development?
I completely newbie in device drivers, so I hope my question is in place, but I need to develop a driver to control some equipment. I was thinking on using Linux as the host OS, but not sure if it is such good idea. I've heard some horror stories about the mess of developing device drivers under Linux. Is there a better alternative under the *Nix world? Or maybe should I check other OSes?

I want to implement a layering system in my application and was thinking of creating a bunch of trabsparent bitmaps, adding content to them then blitting them on top of each other, how can this be done without setting each pixel to (0,0,0,0). I'm using Pure win32, not MFC, thanks.
I'm looking to put an application window behind all other windows.
I was thinking of using .NET 4 and WPF or Silverlight.
I don't have any specific drawing code, I just want my application window as my desktop wallpaper while retaining the interactivity (no mucking around with screenshots etc).
Is this even possible and if so, how?
Edit: I'm using Windows 7 x64.
What do I need to do to control whether my classes compiled with a JavaCompiler will include debug information or not?
I'm thinking it has something to do with the getTask()-method's options parameter, but I can't find any references on whether that assumption is correct to start with, and if so, what is the correct way to control that?
I'm aware of timing issues in Javascript, how its not exact/off by milliseconds etc, but I need something to at least attempt to do browser-based scheduling.
In terms of features, I'm thinking something along the lines of scheduling patterns described here: http://www.sauronsoftware.it/projects/cron4j/manual.php#p02
Anything out there? I've done google searches and haven't found any implementation worth nothing.
I am trying to develop a strategy game and i am thinking of creating the following game maps similar to below.

Hey,
I'm working on some old(ish) software in PHP that maintains a $cache array to reduce the number of SQL queries. I was thinking of just putting memcached in its place and I'm wondering whether or not to get rid of the internal caching. Would there still be a worthwihle performance increase if I keep the internal caching, or would memcached suffice?
Im trying to implement and realtime audio streaming swing desktop app . trying to get bytes of audio using java.net classes and then feeding it to play .

help or any suggestion ?
A library function parses a file and returns an object. If a parser encounters unknown data, missing values etc., it shouldn't throw an exception and stop parsing (because this is not fatal), but there should be a way to pass information about these things to a caller (so that warnings can be displayed in the UI, for example). How can these warning be returned? I'm thinking of passing a callback function/object into the library, are there any other possible solutions?
I'd like to find a free or inexpensive tool for adding images that change at intervals to a small school's webpage. I'm thinking of something very much like the Wordpress plugin JS Banner Rotate, but for static websites.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have attached a toolbar with a UITextField and UIButton to the keyboard when it becomes the first responder via the user taping inside the textfield
textField.inputAccessoryView = theToolbar;
Problem is, the toolbar disappears when the keyboard is dismissed, thus preventing any further input.
Any ideas on how to make the toolbar go back to the bottom of the screen rather than off it completely?
I'm thinking a delegate method might help but Im really not too sure. It seems once the inputAccessoryView always the inputAccessoryView :(
Cheers
I tried to find the diffrence on the google.
BUT
I 'm not able to find with '<% %>' , maybe the reason is <% is a HTML TAG
Now i'm thinking there's no diffrence betwwen <% and <%= .
I have a page that Google Chrome insists on thinking is in French.
Here's a snapshot of it:
http://yootles.com/outbox/overcleverchrome.html
Note that I'm including a meta http-equiv tag to tell it that it's in fact in English:
<meta http-equiv="Content-language" content="en">
But it doesn't help.
Is there anything else I can do to prevent this?
How do I write Perl objects with extensible code? Im thinking drivers, or some configuation, where the user can pass in a string "Classname::Class" or something. Thanks.
