  • Dynamic Tab Implementation in ADF

    - by Vijay Mohan
Well, this can be a common usecase across apps to open tabs dynamically at runtime based on the request.Well, in order to achieve this you can have a parent container, lets say a panelTab component.Inside panelTab , u can have a showDetailItem inside an af:foreach or an af:iterator binded to a bean static list which will have as many show detail items as you wish to be shown.something like this.private static List = { new showDetailItem("1"),new ShowDetailItem("2") ...};now in the backing bean you can have a method that takes care of rendering and disclosing an specific tab based on the index.public void openMyTab(){List<MyItems> list = refToParentContainer.getChildren();int indexOfTabToBeOpened = //Write a method that will compute the tab index of the next //tab.list.get(index).setRendered(true);list.get(index).setDisclosed(true);similarly you can set other properties too.}Else, instead of having af:foreach/iterator iterating through the SD items , you can go for static SDs in the page with render property set to false and then you can follow the same approach to render/disclose it at runtime.

  • How can I restore a corrupted Shotwell db?

    - by Yann Dìnendal
While I was importing photos from a SD card in Shotwell, my laptop has crashed (shutdown because of over-heating). Now, I can no longer launch Shotwell: $ shotwell ** ERROR:x86_64-linux-gnu/db/VersionTable.c:104:version_table_construct: assertion failed: (res == SQLITE_OK) If I move the .db file ~/.shotwell/data/photo.db elsewhere so it is no longer present (but backed-up), shotwell will launch, but will rebuild its library, which will be empty. I can re-import the folders shotwell creates, but I lose nearly all meta-data (most importantly the "folders", or events, and their main picture) Is there a way to repair/rebuild/restore photo.db? How can I see what's inside? how bad it's damaged? Or is there another way to get back my events and imports?

  • Is it possible to prioritize which folders get synced first when using Ubuntu One?

    - by Philippe
I face the problem that u1 syncs my files to a given order. I'd like to change that order. Consider that: On a week end I work and I may also copy the content of my photo SD card onto my notebook. The next time I boot my work computer, I might be sitting there and waiting for some hours until U1 synced/downloaded all the photos to my workstation and the files I need for work are the last in the '--waiting' list. I don't mind if Ubuntu One is a slow downloader, I would be just happy if I could define that all files in a certain folder (and all of it subfolders) always need to be downloaded first. I'm aware that there was once the possibility to move some files to the beginning of the sync list. But that was a very clumsy way with providing the folder id etc. and in the current version of u1 I can't even find it any more. Any suggestions on how to prioritize always the same folder?

  • A good interpreted language for a small embedded project

    - by Earlz
I have an mbed which has a small ARM Cortex M3 on it. Basically, my effective resources for the project are ~25Kb of RAM and ~400Kb of Flash. For I/O I'll have a PS/2 keyboard, a VGA framebuffer(with character output), and an SD card for saving/loading programs(up to a couple of Mb maybe) The reason I ask this here is because I'm trying to figure out what programming language to implement on the thing. I'm looking for an interpreted language that's easy for me to implement, and won't break the bank on my resources. I also intend for this to be at least possible to write on th device itself, though the editor can be interpreted(yay bootstrapping) Anyway, I've looked at a few simple languages. Some nice candidates: Forth BASIC Scheme? Has anyone done something like this or know of any languages that can fit this bill or have comments about my three candidates so far?

  • USB external drive is not recognized by any OS, how to troubleshoot in Ubuntu?

    - by Breno
First of all I would like to inform you that I saw a question similar to mine but the error was different, so here's my problem... I have an external HD samsung s2 model of 500GB and a day to day just stopped working, tried in other systems (windows and mac) however are not recognized. In the windows device manager when I insert the usb it states that the device in question are not working properly. Well, in the logs of my ubuntu 4.12 I see the following message when I insert my usb device in: [ 2967.560216] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 2 using uhci_hcd [ 2967.680182] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 2967.904176] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 2968.120227] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 3 using uhci_hcd [ 2968.240207] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 2968.464063] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 2968.680087] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 4 using uhci_hcd [ 2969.092085] usb 7-2: device not accepting address 4, error -71 [ 2969.208155] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 5 using uhci_hcd [ 2969.624076] usb 7-2: device not accepting address 5, error -71 [ 2969.624118] hub 7-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2 [ 4520.240340] usb 7-1: new full-speed USB device number 6 using uhci_hcd [ 4520.364079] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4520.588109] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4520.804140] usb 7-1: new full-speed USB device number 7 using uhci_hcd [ 4520.924136] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4521.148083] usb 7-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4521.364105] usb 7-1: new full-speed USB device number 8 using uhci_hcd [ 4521.776237] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 8, error -71 [ 4521.888206] usb 7-1: new full-speed USB device number 9 using uhci_hcd [ 4522.296102] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 9, error -71 [ 4522.296150] hub 7-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1 [ 4749.036104] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 10 using uhci_hcd [ 4749.156209] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4749.380215] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4749.596206] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 11 using uhci_hcd [ 4749.716409] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4749.940110] usb 7-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 4750.156257] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 12 using uhci_hcd [ 4750.572150] usb 7-2: device not accepting address 12, error -71 [ 4750.684215] usb 7-2: new full-speed USB device number 13 using uhci_hcd [ 4751.100182] usb 7-2: device not accepting address 13, error -71 [ 4751.100224] hub 7-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2 Here is my system: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 002: ID 08ff:2810 AuthenTec, Inc. • Saving and Loading the Game (Automatically or Manually) via Internal Storage Only (Tablet PC Issues)

    - by David Dimalanta
Here is my question. When making a game app for Android, I considered first the device. It's no problem to save progress everything (from levels to records) on a smartphone because it has an SD Card slot. Exception to this, the tablet PC, it can really nothing but on internal only storage. For example, I'm using this tutorial for audio spectrum (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cN1VzZXcdo) that involves copying from internal to external in order to detect frequency. It works on the desktop but not on the Android device (Tablets only [i.e. Google Nexus Tablet]). Is there a way to optimize save/load game problems due to internal/external device issues? Plus, additionally, what's the reason why my device won't work on tablets, except the desktop, while testing the audio spectrum code and why? Also, is it the same with saving/loading game?

  • Shotwell issues in 11.10

    - by John Speed
I had used Shotwell happily previously then updated to Natty last week. Despite Shotwell showing on the tool bar on screen, when clicked, nothing happened, and it ignored my SD card when loaded. I read all sorts of remedies and tried everything to no avail. When I next turned on the laptop, Ocelot was available so with nothing to loose, I upgraded again. Still no Shotwell. Tried all the new fixes and now atleast I have the icon pictures but nothing behind it. When I ran the command to load the log file, Shotwell loaded and all my photos are present. Exited programme, and now nothing. Can anyone tell me where I have gone wrong please.

  • The death of Kodak digital

    - by Ken Hortsch
Months ago Kodak announced that it was discontinuing its digital video to focus on “significant opportunities for profitable growth”.  Three years ago I picked up the little Kodak Zi6 (pronounced Zix) for the kids for Christmas.  It is an HD pocket video camera with a nice 3” LCD all built into a something a bit longer than an deck of cards.  It is low tech and great!  The kids have had a ball with it, and for around $100 it was perfect.  It comes with 2 AA rechargeable batteries and the recharger.  You can add an SD card, but don’t need to, and the USB is not a cable but a pop-out dongle so everything is right in the one package.  Too many companies look for the next big thing and fail to see the stuff that is good enough, and right in front of their eyes.

  • Can't boot after power failure - 14.04 - GRUB even doesn't showup

    - by Nateowami
Packages were updating when somehow the power failed (battery fully charged and power got disconnected). Now it won't boot. It doesn't even get as far as GRUB. The bios says it can't boot and press any key to retry. Fortunately all data is backed up and I can boot a live SD. Now what do I do? Model: Dell Latitude D630 Dual-boots with Windows 7, but since GRUB doesn't show up that's not bootable either. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Unable to mount samsung galaxy S3 via USB

    - by dez93_2000
Connecting as either MTP or PTP: neither allows one to see pictures saved as default by phone camera to DCIM folder on external SD card. Similar problems with previous models (e.g. S2) were solvable by 'usb utilities' in wireless & networking settings, but this is no longer present. Other suggestions have mentioned uninstalling various libraries... but i don't wanna just start cutting stuff without knowing it'll help. Any thoughts? Seems like a pretty epic fail from google & samsung. There's not even a linux section on the relevant google site... despite android's usb driver being part of the linux kernel which powers android. Boo!

  • Migrating Virtual Iron guest to Oracle VM 3.x

    - by scoter
As stated on the official site, Oracle in 2009, acquired a provider of server virtualization management software named Virtual Iron; you can find all the acquisition details at this link. Into the FAQ on the official site you can also view that, for the future, Oracle plans to fully integrate Virtual Iron technology into Oracle VM products, and any enhancements will be delivered as a part of the combined solution; this is what is going on with Oracle VM 3.x. So, customers started asking us to migrate Virtual Iron guests to Oracle VM. IMPORTANT: This procedure needs a dedicated OVM-Server with no-guests running on top; be careful while execute this procedure on production environments. In these little steps you will find how-to migrate, as fast as possible, your guests between VI ( Virtual Iron ) and Oracle VM; keep in mind that OracleVM has a built-in P2V utility ( Official Documentation )  that you can use to migrate guests between VI and Oracle VM. Concepts: VI repositories.  On VI we have the same "repository" concept as in Oracle VM; the difference between these two products is that VI use a raw-lun as repository ( instead of using ocfs2 and its capabilities, like ref-links ). The VI "raw-lun" repository, with a pure operating-system perspective, may be presented as in this picture: Infact on this "raw-lun" VI create an LVM2 volume-group. The VI "raw-lun" repository, with an hypervisor perspective, may be presented as in this picture: So, the relationships are: LVM2-Volume-Group <-> VI Repository LVM2-Logical-Volume <-> VI guest virtual-disk The first step is to present the VI repository ( raw-lun ) to your dedicated OVM-Server. Prepare dedicated OVM-Server On the OVM-Server ( OVS ) you need to discover new lun and, after that, discover volume-group and logical-volumes containted in VI repository; due to default OVS configuration you need to edit lvm2 configuration file: /etc/lvm/lvm.conf     # By default for OVS we restrict every block device:     # filter = [ "r/.*/" ] and comment the line starting with "filter" as above. Now you have to discover the raw-lun presented and, next, activate volume-group and logical-volumes: #!/bin/bash for HOST in `ls /sys/class/scsi_host`;do echo '- - -' > /sys/class/scsi_host/$HOST/scan; done CPATH=`pwd` cd /dev for DEVICE in `ls sd[a-z] sd?[a-z]`;do echo '1' > /sys/block/$DEVICE/device/rescan; done cd $CPATH cd /dev/mapper for PARTITION in `ls *[a-z] *?[a-z]`;do partprobe /dev/mapper/$PARTITION; done cd $CPATH vgchange -a yAfter that you will see a new device:[root@ovs01 ~]# cd /dev/6000F4B00000000000210135bef64994[root@ovs01 6000F4B00000000000210135bef64994]# ls -l 6000F4B0000000000061013* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 77 Oct 29 10:50 6000F4B00000000000610135c3a0b8cb -> /dev/mapper/6000F4B00000000000210135bef64994-6000F4B00000000000610135c3a0b8cb By your OVM-Manager create a guest server with the same definition as on VI:same core number as VI source guestsame memory as VI source guestsame number of disks as VI source guest ( you can create OVS virtual disk with a small size of 1GB because the "clone" will, eventually, extend the size of your new virtual disks )Summarizing:source-virtual-disk path ( VI ):/dev/mapper/6000F4B00000000000210135bef64994-6000F4B00000000000610135c3a0b8cbdest-virtual-disk path ( OVS ):/OVS/Repositories/0004fb00000300006cfeb81c12f12f00/VirtualDisks/0004fb000012000055e0fc4c5c8a35ee.img ** ** = to identify your virtual disk you have verify its name under the "vm.cfg" file of your new guest.Clone VI virtual-disk to OVS virtual-diskdd if=/dev/mapper/6000F4B00000000000210135bef64994-6000F4B00000000000610135c3a0b8cb of=/OVS/Repositories/0004fb00000300006cfeb81c12f12f00/VirtualDisks/0004fb000012000055e0fc4c5c8a35ee.img Clean unsupported parameters and changes on OVS.1. Restore original /etc/lvm/lvm.conf    # By default for OVS we restrict every block device:     filter = [ "r/.*/" ]    and uncomment the line starting with "filter" as above.2. Force-stop lvm2-monitor service  # service lvm2-monitor force-stop 3. Restore original /etc/lvm directories ( archive, backup and cache )  # cd /etc/lvm  # rm -fr archive backup cache; mkdir archive backup cache4. • How to connect Samsung Galaxy S3 via USB?

    - by dez93_2000
Connecting as either MTP or PTP: neither allows one to see pictures saved as default by phone camera to DCIM folder on external SD card. Similar problems with previous models (e.g. S2) were solvable by 'usb utilities' in wireless & networking settings, but this is no longer present. Other suggestions have mentioned uninstalling various libraries... but I don't wanna just start cutting stuff without knowing it'll help. Any thoughts on how to mount a Samsung Galaxy S3 over USB?

  • What is the ideal laptop for creative coding applications?

    - by Jason
Hi, I am a creative coder using C++(cinder and OpenFrameworks) I am looking to upgrade from my MacBook, which slowed down to about 3fps this morning. My project involves particles systems and fluids reacting to audio analysis data and computer vision data in real-time. SD or HD? no biggie. I have asked many people what computer I need. Ideally, I want a MacBook Pro. But is that enough power? I've been told that I need a desktop for what I am doing though I'd rather stay portable I've been told that I should go PC linux to get the most power but I'd rather stay mac I've been told that RAM is more of bottleneck than processor speed I've been told that the Graphics Card is more important than CPU and that code optimizations such as using trees over lists, proper threading, sending tasks to the GPU make a bigger difference than the hardware!!! what's true?! what do I need? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

  • How do I install on an Acer Aspire M3970?

    - by KillingJoke
I cannot install Ubuntu 11.04 or 11.10 32 or 64 bit from CD or USB Drive on my machine. I tried to unplug all devices connected to USB, no changes the same thing: [ 15.383691] sd 7:0:0:3: [sdg] Attached SCSI removeable disk. And then the installation or Live image booting does nothing more... Its quite annoying that Ubuntu run on every of my Machines but not on my new PC :( What can I do to get that running? Edit: Fascinating thing I found out, is that the 10.04 LTS seems to work in every way. Why does 11.04 or 11.10 does not... Maybe theres a Bug in the installer ?

  • why does my lubuntu recognizes only lubuntu instalation cds?

    - by Hardi
I installed lubuntu from alternate cd a month ago. Now when I needed to read some cd's, the cd try won't open. It can be opened before ubuntu boots up. It can be opened after entering sudo eject -i off from console. But it won't mount any other cd-roms, than just the lubuntu live-cd and lubuntu alternate instal cd, where it was installed from. "mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0" as output, when try to mount anything else. Problem can't be in corrupted sd's, because othe computer, did recognize them well.

  • Does the direction of storage make us bad data citizens?

    - by simonsabin
My career started at a company where we hardly had email, the network was a 10base2 affair with cables running all around the office. You used floppy disks and the thought of a GB of data was absurd. You had to look after every byte and only keep what you really needed. Whilst the cost of the spinning disks gradually falls the cost and size of flash storage continues to plummet. The new Crucial SSD is £380 for 1TB I can now keep 128GB of data on a SD card the size of my finger. It only costs...(read more)
