  • How do I mount a "DiskSecure Multiboot" partition?

    For a hard drive that has 4 or 5 partitions, I was able to mount one of them using Ubuntu LiveCD: sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt but is there a way to mount to the other partitions?   • Can't add Fedora 14 to grub.

    Today I installed Fedora 14 in a different partition in the same hard drive as Ubuntu. At the Fedora 14 installation, I chose not to install Boot-loader in the MBR, and instead chose to install it in the Fedora partition itself, which is according to my HD layout /sda3. After the Fedora 14 installation I booted in to Ubuntu and ran sudo update-grub but 'grub.cfg' fails to add Fedora 14 in to the OS list. Here is the output of boot-info script.   • Missing Operating System after trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 11

    there! After trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 to 11, the upgrading process stopped when running and then I got an "out of disk, grub rescue" message when booting. After running Boot Repair, I got this results. Now I get "Missing Operating System" whent trying to boot. Bellow I show some results from some commands I gather from help foruns, but I still reached no solution. Could you please help me? Any enlightment will be very helpful! Disk Utility says "Disk has a few bad sectors".   • Receiving requests where absolute URL on page are morphed to relative URLs

    In our web pages, we have a hyperlink with an href to an absolute URL: https://some.other.host.com/blah.aspx?var1=val1&var2=val2 For some reason, in our logs, we see a lot of requests to URLs of this format: http://our.site.com/https:/some.other.host.com/blah.aspx?var1=val1&var2=val2 We don't have any JavaScript that would request that URL; it only appears inside of a hyperlink. Is there some sort of known bot, browser plugin, bug, etc. that could be responsible for these requests being made?

  • How to rebuild fstab automatically

    I accidentally removed all the entries from the fstab files while doing a backup (Yeah, I know ;)). I would like to know if there is a way to rebuild it with the current mount options, since I did not restart the server since the deletion. If there is no such program, could anybody help me rebuild it.   • Hide icons encrypted file system partitions in Nautilus

    I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 from the alternate CD. It has an encrypted root and swap partition. The root partition is visible in Nautilus as 'File Syste' icon. There is another icon "216 GB Filesystem". If I click it says: Unable to mount 216 GB Filesystem. /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt is mounted. Then there is another icon "6.1 GB Swap Space". If I click it it says: Unable to mount 6.1 GB Swap Space. Not a mountable file system. How can I hide these last two icons?   • Unable to mount an LVM Hard-drive after upgrade

    I imagine this is a basic gotcha ... but I can't see it. I have a system with 2(physical) harddrives. The boot system (/dev/sda) was running 10.04 & the second drive (/dev/sdb) was just a mounted filesystem. I did a clean load of Ubuntu 12.04 overwriting /dev/sda (not an upgrade) & now cannot mount the second drive. so I do not know what to enter it into the fstab ...   • Used mountmanager now Ubuntu hangs on boot

    I was using MountManager in Ubuntu 12.04 to set user permissions in mounting hard drives. I set each partititon to be mountable by everyone instead of admin only. Then I clicked Apply in the file menu and it gave me the message successfully updated. Upon restarting Ubuntu, just hangs on the splash screen and does not boot any further. Windows still boots fine.   • Java plugin in the browser doesn't work even though it is enabled

    I installed the Java Development Kit (64-bit) recently and saw it includes the JRE plugin for 64-bit as well. But, since Firefox is 32-bit, I also installed JRE 32-bit version. This is what is shown in Programs and Features. Now, the problem is, the other day, I opened a site which required the Java plugin. The frame showed the regular Java loading animation and hung. Nothing happened after that. Like this: I checked Firefox's plugins section and it shows Java is enabled, so no issue there I tried other browsers - IE10 and Chrome but to no avail. It doesn't work anywhere. I saw another question which said that you have to install 64-bit then 32-bit. That's what I actually did as well. First, installed JDK 7 64-bit (which includes JRE 7 64-bit) and then installed JRE 7 32-bit. I even tried the Java website's Do I have Java? section and over there too, it just keeps spinning for ages (I have waited for more than 10-20 seconds). How do I go about now? This never happened to me in Windows 7. I am on Windows 8 Pro.

  • Which VCS is more applicable for our workflow?

    Currently we have code stored on a shared network drive and do not use any kind of VCS. The code stored on our shared network drive is always being backed up. We would like to keep things as close to they are now as possible, while using some kind of VCS software. I am envisioning a centralized workflow with each developer having a local copy of the code on his/her machine. We don't do any branching or working offline. Typically when we spin off a new version we would just copy the current working directory to a new directory. I believe we would continue doing this and just create a repository for the new version. I would rather not get into an argument over which VCS is better, just hoping to get some opinions for which is best suited and most applicable for what we are trying to do.

  • running adb via wifi on ubuntu 13.04

    First, im new on linux so please bear with me. I have a rooted android phone and i was able to run the adb via wifi network on windows, where i just need to go to the adb's directory and type adb connect. However, i can't just do that in my ubuntu. Everytime i enter adb connect, the terminal always said that i dont have the adb and i must install it. When i check the ADT Bundle (I downloaded the bundled one from here), i can see the adb is there inside the platform-tools folder. I already tried to change the directory to the platform-tools and run the adb connect from there, but its still not working. Do i need to install the adb again via terminal? Or did i miss something? You may be wondering why dont i just download the adb (again) via terminal and do trial and error? The answer is because i dont have a good internet connection, so i want to avoid unnecessary downloads. Thanks for your time :D

Is it recommended or should I just stick to using RDPi in Windows 7 in VirtualBox? I have done some research, but could not divine a solution.     As a developer with enough experience to evaluate a tool, I may say that PDT is very huge in size and slow in performance for a PHP IDE. It gets bigger by release and exponentially slower by the size of the projects. Add some extra syntax coloring rules and it literally crawls, code completion works randomly and building workspace takes like forever. Java black magic (-Xmx etc) eases the pain a little but that's it. So my questions are: Why is PDT like this? What design or engineering factors led to its poor performance? How can I avoid making these same mistakes in my own products?

    Hello, I am currently developing a site that I make use of two jQuery plugins: Flickr jquery plugin (http://code.google.com/p/jquery-flickr/) Slimbox (http://code.google.com/p/slimbox/) The first plugin is used to pull in flickr photos from a specific account. These photos are displayed as thumbnails on the page. I am then using the second plugin to display larger views of these images. Because the flickr photos are fetched when the page loads, I am calling the Slimbox 2 function like this: $(document).ready(function() { $("#Flickr").flickr(); //Call Flickr plugin $(window).bind('load', function() { $("#Flickr a").slimbox();//Call Slimbox2 }); }); On first testing this seemed to have worked perfectly. I tested multiple versions of FireFox, IE7, IE6, and Safari. Everything is great. However, the Slimbox lightbox effest does not work in IE8. However, if I put IE8 into compatibility mode, everything works as expected. I would like to avoid forcing compatibility mode. There are no javascript errors and I am at a loss for testing.     I'm writing a plug-in for WordPress which in fact will be a separate ordering module (it will be placed in an IFRAME on the site I'm developing as well as others) but with its admin tied into WordPress. I wrote the administration part without too much hassle, however I'm having trouble with the front-end. This means that I'll have to include some WordPress files in order to have access to the database and other helper classes and functions. That brings us to question number 2: is there a way for the URL to call a function of my plugin to render the order page?
