  • Remove Outlook 2007 Calendar from Calendars List

    In our company, we use personal folders with Outlook 2007 and make it the default method of downloading messages to keep our mailbox size on the server side small. Under calendar view, i see both calendars, my personal folder one and my server one. How can I remove from the list of calendars my server one since I do not use that one and it only creates confusion and problems such as adding entries onto that one instead of the other or disabling one and not getting alarms? I tried googling on it and read there is a utility to do that but couldn't find the name of it. Thanks in advance for your help.

    I'm implementing SMTP client. What should the client do once it already sent the "." at the end of the mail, but didn't receive "250 Ok"? This is how the conversation between the client and server look like: Server Response: 220 www.sample.com ESMTP Postfix Client Sending : HELO domain.com Server Response: 250 Hello domain.com Client Sending : MAIL FROM: <[email protected]> Server Response: 250 Ok Client Sending : RCPT TO: <[email protected]> Server Response: 250 Ok Client Sending : DATA Server Response: 354 End data with <CR><LF>.<CR><LF> Client Sending : Subject: Example Message Client Sending : From: [email protected] Client Sending : To: [email protected] Client Sending : Client Sending : TEST MAIL Client Sending : Client Sending : . Server Response: 250 Ok: queued as 23411 Client Sending : QUIT I'm not sure what should I do if the client sends "." and doesn't receive the 250 Ok - because of possible network error. Was the "." sent or not? Should the client resend the mail - and - maybe - duplicate the item, or not - and risk in losing an important mail item? Thank you.

  • Problems when pasting Outlook 2010 signature logo into message body

    Whenever I paste my company logo into a message in Outlook 2010, I run into a variety of complications and anomalies. The dimensions of my original logo image are 315x174 (source image is a PNG file). I am scaling this image down in Photoshop CS6 to a variety of smaller sizes for testing my Outlook signature (300x166, 250x138, 200x110,150x83 and 100x55 pixels). 300x166 = no distortion. This looks the same as in Photoshop (but far too large to use in my signature). 250x130 = distorted (gets stretched much wider by Outlook when pasting into message body). 200x110 = looks reasonable, but seems to have been scaled to a different size (smaller) by Outlook for no obvious reason. 150x83 = for some reason, this is scaled by Outlook to the exact same size that 200x110 was scaled to. In fact, a large range of similar dimensions are scaled to the exact same image size by Outlook. This is very frustrating. Why is this happening and what can be done to prevent it? 100x55 = when pasting my logo from Photoshop to Outlook with these dimensions all that happens is the cursor jumps forwards about an inch on the screen, leaving a blank space where the image was supposed to go. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    A colleague's e-mail has just started playing up - he's using Outlook/Office 2003 on a Win XP SP3 machine. Yesterday his mail has suddenly stopped being received, although there are no errors of any kind that i can see. It was only noticed because he didn't have any replys all day. His e-mails seem to send fine - no errors come up, the mail goes into Sent Items as usual, but it never arrives at it's destination. However, when mail is sent from Outlook Web Access, e-mails send fine. All connections to the server appear fine and outlook is 'connected' but I've had a look at the message tracking on our Exchange 2003 server and no messages are appearing when sent from outlook, only when sent through OWA. Where should i be looking ? Thanks.

    Hi, I've a Virtual Private Server with Windows 2003 and root access. This server mainly acts as a web hosting machine (IIS, Apache). Additionally it is used as a mail server. Is it possible to isolate a mailserver (for example HMailServer) by using VMware Server on Windows 2003 in order to avoid potential viruses moving from the guest into the host system?   • Extract sender activity from postfix logs for auditing user

    We have a mail user on our postfix server that was using the company mail to send compromising information to the competence. I've been asked to make a report of the actions for that user in the last time. There are tools like pflogsumm and others that can extract statistic data, but I haven't so far find anything useful to get all the info for a user because the data is in multiple lines. I'd like to get something like this: For the sent mail 11/11/11 00:00:00 [email protected] -> [email protected] 11/11/11 00:00:01 [email protected] -> [email protected] For the received mail 10/10/11 00:00:00 [email protected] -> [email protected] 10/10/11 00:00:01 [email protected] -> [email protected] I know I can do a script by myself, but matching the postfix ID for every mail is not something that can be made with a simple grep, and I've a lot of mail history that I have to recheck distributed among diferent files and so on. The source log is the standard postfix format, for example this one...   • How do I change the "from" field for an e-mail address routed through Gmail? [closed]

    I have an e-mail address for a domain I own. [email protected] I am redirecting all mail sent to this address over to my main Gmail account automatically. In Gmail, I've added the [email protected] account so I can send and receive mail from it. Problem: The "from" field on all the e-mails this address sends always says "info". I want it to say "Domain.com" so recipients can know where it's coming from. How do I change this? I've looked in gmail but can't seem to spot a setting that controls this.

    I have two transport rules on my exchange server. One is: > Apply rule to messages: From users that are 'outside the organization' > and when any of the recipients in the To or Cc fields is a member of > '[email protected]' Forward the messageto sender's manager > for moderation The second is: Apply rule to messages from a member of '[email protected]' and sent to users that are 'outside the organization' forward the message to the sender's manager for moderation. nointernetmail is a distribution group, and each user has the managed by set to there local manager. However these transport rules do not work, internet mail is still sent and received without issue. I have read various tutorials / articles of how to do this on sites such as msexchangeblog and even microsoft technet, however even after following the guides I am still unable to have this function properly. Any help is appreciated.

  • Messages going missing from Apple mailboxes

    A colleague has noticed random messages being deleted from her Apple Mailboxes. e.g. Message sent to client - client replies - original message nowhere to be found. Not in sent items/sent messages/junk/trash. No rules set up. Have tried rebuilding mailboxes but message doesn't show up. Quite worrying really as it was only noticed by chance so don't know how long/how widespread it is. Mail is controlled by Exchange 2003 server.     I'm going to get a Windows 2008 dedicated server sometime soon. I'm going to have my website hosted on it, so, I also want to run a mail server on the same machine to receive any mail sent to the website (I use the SMTP Server in IIS for sending mail, but this about receiving not sending) Does Windows 2008 have a built-in POP3 OR IMAP server? If so, can it be accessed through a webmail interface? I mean does it also have a webmail interface similar to OWA for example? If not, do you have suggestions for a good mail server with a webmail interface, preferably free or open source? MS Exchange is above my budget and my needs are so simple anyway. I heard good things about hMailServer but I checked and it doesn't have a webmail interface. I know I can outsource this to a third party for a little monthly fee, but I prefer to host my own server.   • trigger script on postfix delivery errors

    I'm trying to get postfix to run a script on soft (4xx) and hard (5xx) delivery errors, but I'm not sure where to start. If I understand things correctly, I could insert (pipe-based) filters in the master.cf file, there's a whole 'milter' infrastructure available, an finally I suppose I could simply grep through the mail.info logs. So - any advice? Should I go the 'handle it via master.cf' route, and if so, what daemon should I intercept? 'bounce'? The grep-the-logs route is probably simplest, but I can't help but feel that there is a better way. Any advice appreciated!

    Is there any good Thunderbird replacement with full PGP support ? To be more exact replacement for (Thb +Enigmail this is the tandem Im using now) Best way would be if PGP would be built in into application. Commercial software is also fine :) excluding M$ software. What I need: - PGP support - application much more stable than Thunderbird, - support for Gmail out of the box including support for labels, - better search functionality (search in THB is far away from perfection), - cross platform (I should be able to run it on windows and Linux). So do you guys have an experience with other mail clients which have PGP support ?

  • SPF for two different outgoing servers?

    I have ran into a problem that I think someone should have a really clever answer for. Today we have our own mailserver that looks like "mail.domain.com" – which we use to send out mail to our customers (with a modified PHPMailer script). Usually around 5000 mails every day. Everything from customer support to invoices goes through there. The from-header is set to "[email protected]". We are now thinking of migrating to Google Apps for internal use (with 70+ users). However, we cannot use Gmails SMTP for sending "bulk" mails (they have a limit of 500 outgoing mails per day) so we really want to keep using our current system for sending automated mail to our customers – and using gmails SMTP for our internal use. So, how do we set up our SPF-records (Sender Policy Framework) for this? We do not want to get stuck in any filters for "spoofing" the sender from either type of account (the ones sent from our own server, and through Gmails). In short: we want to be able to use the same e-mail adress (for sending) on two different SMTP servers (and therefore two different IP-adresses). Anyone with a good knowledge off SPF who knows how to go about? Or if it is even possible? Anything else I should think of when switching to Google Apps?

    Hey guys, recently I just installed msmtp in linux and I even send a mail from the terminal and it worked: echo -e "Subject: Test Mail\r\n\r\nThis is a test mail" |msmtp --debug --from=default -t [email protected] But in php, after editing the php.ini file to have this: sendmail_path = '/usr/bin/msmtp -t' and using this piece of code: <?php if ( mail ( '[email protected]', 'Test mail from localhost', 'Working Fine.' ) ){ echo 'Mail sent'; } else{ echo 'Error. Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder. Anything wrong I'm doing?

  • In 2011, what are the reasons to stick with plain text mails?

    People entering college today have never known a world without an Internet. HTML was invented 1980, that's more than thirty years ago or 1.5 generations. But plain text mails are still common despite all their problems: Encoding issues Wrapped code segments No links No way to use the "a picture says more than a thousand words" lore Most of the security risks are now handled by the underlying browser engine and smart settings like: Don't allow JavaScript in mails Don't execute attachments Don't download external resources (like web bugs) On top of that, only very few people still read mail only in command line tools like Mutt. Knowing Mutt myself, I'm pretty sure you can configure it to display HTML mail with, say, w3m. On top of that, most HTML mail capable clients send two versions of the mail (pure text with an HTML attachment). I'm not sure if there are any people left on the planet which still use a 56kbit modem to access their mail accounts. So what reasons are left to stick with plain text mails in 2011?

  • importing old .eml files int outlook 2010

    I was having so many problems with my laptop & Windows vista that I have updated to Windows 7 64bit. Because I was having so may problems I wanted a 'clean' upgrade so didn't want to carry over any programs or settings. Prior to changing over I saved all the folders I wanted from MS mail to a separate drive and then updated to Win 7 and Office 2010. To my horror I don't seem to be able to import my .eml messages into Outlook which means all my mail is in limbo. Please can anyone help me to simply import my old inbox messages into my new inbox as I have given up trying using the import/export menu as there doesn't seem to be a choice that works. Help!! Not too good a nerd!

  • Exchange 2003 mailbox migrated to 2010 not showing up in Address book

    I have migrated about 45 mailboxes at this point from our single instance of Exchange 2003 to a High Availability Exchange 2010 environment successfully. However one mailbox moved successfully and the user is able to send and receive e-mail internally and externally with no problems but they do not show up in the Global Address List. The OAB is owned by an Exchange 2010 mailbox server. What am I missing?
